The Vampire Kisses series. I know Twilight gets a lot of s**t, but you don't know bad writing and annoying heroines until you've read this. I loathe this series, and jump at any chance to bash it. I see it at bookstores and want to buy it simply to light it on fire. I read the first five books as a sort of punishment to myself, just to see how bad it could get, before I finally realized I was wasting my time. The Twilight series, of course. Beastly. The writing style was so stupid, I don't remember much but I do remember they talked like some cheap romance novel, like "Oh my darling, how I have loathed these past few months without you, they were unbearable, now I see it is you and only you that I love." Obviously I'm exaggerating, but that's how I remember it. The Hunger Games. I WISH I NEVER READ THIS SERIES. It's so overrated and the third book has left me bitter against the entire franchise. Harry Potter, if only to avoid the fandom and emotional attachment I felt to all the characters that ended up dying. :l

Twilight, the last couple of House of Night novels, and The Lord of the Flies. Also, Fahrenheit 451. I loved that book, but since I had to read it for school this year, and the teacher has neglected to even take a grade on said book, I wish I hadn't even put time into actually reading the damn thing. :l

As I Lay Dying
One of the most unnecessary books to read in English class. Okay, I get the relations to the Bible and Greek mythology, but it was so boring and hard to read.
The Hunger Games
Well, I actually like the book because it is an entertaining read. However, I don't think it deserves its hype, I thought the writing was very mediocre.
Ellen Foster I had to read it for English last year. Again, one of the most unnecessary reads for class. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Honestly, I never liked reading any of Shakespeare's books / plays. >w< It might have been the fact that I had to read them in class back in high school. Or the fact that the drama class overkilled all his plays. But none of them really interest me. But then that's my opinion. emotion_sweatdrop

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway I had to read this book for a report in high school and let me just say that there are times I wish I had just taken a zero for the assignment. This was one of the most boring books I have read and I have grown to completely despise Hemingway's writing style. I had to read more of his works last year; I didn't actually read anything. I couldn't bring myself to pick up anything by him again. I know he's supposedly a very good writer and that this particular book is meant to be "all that," but I can't see what all the hullabaloo is about. Sorry, Hemingway.

The Icarus Girl. It wasn't that much entertaining, and it left a lot of things unexplained. Furthermore, it was very scary....

I have a love/hate relationship with Shakespeare myself. Most of my hate comes from the fact that in trying to "be true to the source" many people don't bother translating the archaic terminology into modern phrases so much of the important dialogues are completely lost to anyone who isn't a historian or extreme Shakespeare fan. When a play is properly translated, I tend to absolutely love them! You can't tell me you don't absolutely love movies/plays like The Lion King (Hamlet), West Side Story (Romeo and Juliet), or Forbidden Planet (The Tempest)? I honestly kinda liked Gnomeo and Juliet XD Vanilla Bunnie Honestly, I never liked reading any of Shakespeare's books / plays. >w< It might have been the fact that I had to read them in class back in high school. First of all, the Twilight series. I cannot even begin to describe how much I didn't like them. I also read The Prince by Machiavelli because my teacher told me to read it "as a challenge." I know it was meant for someone who lived more than 100 years ago, but the running sentences just ticked me off and it kind of droned on for a bit. :/
