Aloysius couldn't help but be a little jealous of Gwylan. It sounded wonderful, to have a family like that. "It sounds like you have quite the family," he said. "All those aunts and uncles and such." He said. "Are you all very close?" Of course, he was fully aware that his family was a terrible example. Mother hated her family, father didn't seem t have one, older brother did the smart thing and booked it...
He would trade his family for one like Gwylan's in a heartbeat.

"Well the ones still around, yeah. Like I said, two of Mom's sibs aren't really in our lives anymore... But our little 'clan' if you will is close knit amongst those of us still here. Gramps settled in and likes it here. He might even take him a wife someday, but right now, he's still playing the field a bit." He said it with no discomfort, since he was only a bit younger then his uncle Mero, and he was pretty sure his gramps planned on more kids. Complicated family, but hey, who cared? "But we also 'adopt' our friends into it, too."

Gwylan nodded. "It really does sound remarkable. You're lucky in so many ways," he said. He almost wanted to say that Gwylan's grandfather sounded a bit like his mother-he was sure she would never be done playing the field, of course-but any comparison would be gratuitously unfair and definitely nowhere near true. "I hope I'll have an opportunity to meet more of them."

"I'm sure you will, Al! Just stick around for a bit, and make sure to come back. You'll find you're one of the family in no time... And you'll be welcome." He beamed at Al, happy to have such a nice friend. "I know I'm lucky... I could have a... less warm family, or one more broken up... I'm very lucky. And my parents support my dreams and goals in life. So yeah." He gave Al a slightly sad, but compassionate, smile. Such comments made it clear his family life wasn't as wonderful.

Al nodded. "I will be sure to come back, as often as I can get away," he said. For a brief moment, his babysitter's lullaby played in his head. This was it, a chance to be more than he was dumped in his lap. He would trade everything he had for a family like that. He reached over and gently squeezed Gwylan's hand. "Thank you, for being so kind to me." He said. Not everyone welcomed transfers with such open arms.
