The whisper sent a shiver up Junko's spine. That voice..she knew that voice. She turned on her heel and scuttled back away from the owner of the distorted voice. "No, Freya. We need to save...the students.."
Was that...? "Xiu? N-no! Xiu?!" Junko shrieked and threw her arms up as Xiu lunged at her and Freya, hitting the ground so hard her very breath was knocked out of her. "Xiu, no! What happened to you?!" She threw her arms up over her head to protect herself, peering through them with wide, frightened eyes.

Though Aksaja was still kind of freaking out, the sounds of fighting caught his attention and the dragon looked up to realize that shadowy, foggy creatures were attacking the others. He should . . . help them, right? But . . . what if they didn't care? What if he was too weak to do anything at all?
"What should I do . . . ?" he murmured, not even sure who or what he might be talking to anymore.
The thing that had originally attacked them slipped away almost as quickly as it had come, and Seiji started after it, quite confused. He hadn't come across a for yet that had simply wandered away, bee it from far or simple boredom. Really, it was quite odd. Not that he was afforded much time to dwell on it. Junko was hurt, and Freya still seemed very shaken.
"They aren't supposed to be a part of this," he added, growing as he claimed down at the sound on his arm. " They're students, and I think that one was a horseman.." Hard to be certain really, but he'd looked rather a lot like one of the conquest men. "Something's effecting.."
He talked off as whisper cut through the silence, turning towards the source. This time there was no doubt as to whom they were facing. Xiu, one of Junko's friends, and before they all fully registered what had happened the boil had lunged. "Junko!" Both ghouls had been hit before Seiji could react, but he was on his feet and moving between one useless breath and the next. Claws had extended from the tips of his blackened fingers, and he swiped at the fog consumed Xiu as he scooped the futakutchi-onna up with one arm and pulled her to safety.
He ended up beside Aksaja, and he sent a quick, pulled glance at the other boil as he just stood there. "Saja! Small out of it and help us!"
It didn't seem to acknowledge the students' stares, nor did it react to the name that one of the ghouls was yelling. Instead, it moved with a single-minded determination, stumbling slightly at the attacks before recovering and pressing forward.
Blindly swiping out, it tore its claws into one of the boils before swinging out to strike Junko again.

"Xiu! Xiu, stop! It's--ah!" Junko squeaked and scrambled away when her friend attacked her again, whimpering and scrambling to her feet. She stumbled when she was upright, looking down to see she was missing a shoe.
Wait..wait wha--no! Her hair chucked it, throwing the shoe hard at the figure that had once been Xiu. This was not Xiu, this was a fake.

The dragon blinked when Seiji landed beside him and then yelled at him to help, seeming almost confused. "You . . . actually want my help?" he asked, sounding a bit lost still. But the fog-Xiu's claws tearing into him certainly served as more of a wake-up call. Aksaja jumped and then blinked again and stared at blood welling up from his arm where she had gotten him. "The hell was that for?!" he snapped - flipping suddenly from confusion to anger.
He'd almost allowed this stuff to get to him . . . something that he'd once vowed would never happen again. Dammitall. Growling, he crouched down and glared at the one attacking them. "I'm pretty sure that's not really Xiu," he muttered to Junko. "She wouldn't do this . . . right?" Then he darted toward her and swiped out with his own claws.

He couldn't see, couldn't hear...the fog still enshrouding him, but now he was reaching out, blind and deaf, as those around him kept brushing against the Nergal in the heat of battle. His spines hissed and clacked as they shifted against one another, as though trying to pick out who was friend or foe amidst the bodies in the terrible mist. "Someone shake me...." He muttered to himself, merely glad that the voices were no longer fixated upon him.
This insanity had to pass, it always did. "Aksaja!" There were monsters in this fog, but he thought...he'd thought he'd heard a sound, someone in pain. If there was a battle going on, well he was doing an absolutely rotten job of keeping up with it, now wasn't he? Not that he was much help to them blind. "The Jack is going on..."
Yep. Sharra was still out of this fight, though he was trying to put his best claw forward.
It seemed like the Fog Xiu had zeroed in on Junko, and despite his best efforts to keep her out of the line of fire, the poor ghoul was taking a beating. She threw her show, and he lashed out again with dark claws as he pulled Junko back her Obi, knocking into Sharra in the process. "Stop talking to it, J. I think you're just pissing her off."
When Seiji knocked into him, Sharra was taken completely off-guard, stumbling backwards as the nergal boil swore viciously, the dim shapes of his friends finall coming into clarity in the fog. Oh, of course! Of course there would be a battle going on whilst he was in a state of sensory deprivation. The demon was useless, as always. Raised voices and the quiet thrums of stifled pain instantly gave Sharra a rush of energy, senses heightened now that he possessed them once more, his heart beating out a rapid tempo that loitered just shy of panic.
In the fog...there was a ghoul in the fog that was attacking them. Stepping in beside Seiji, he tossed a worried look at Junko. "Junko, you going to make it?!" Brows knitted in concern, before acidic green eyes landed on their target. Ah no Jack-damned way.
Late to this party, but it didn't mean he couldn't try to step in. No time for explanation, or apologies...those would come when they survived. He didn't have the training his friends possessed, a fact that was his own damn fault, but...readying claws, the nergal boil stepped forward, and took a swipe at the ghostly form of their opponent. Xiu, was it? Well not any longer, it seemed. Some part of Sharra wondered what it would take for the fog to turn any of THEM into something like that. He'd seen the fog seize others, before the lot of them had plunged into this dim mockery of Amityville. It could happen to anyone...but best to pretend as though their efforts would make a difference.
When--or if--Xiu was ever freed from the insanity, there was no doubt about it that the ghoul would feel absolutely terrible about the harm she has committed against her fellow classmates. And not even just classmates--there were dear friends among the groups that she had--and probably would continue to--attack.
The insanity creature staggered back slightly at the attacks before pressing onwards, undaunted. Whether it just couldn't feel the pain, or whether it just didn't care, it marched on like nothing was the matter, gaze focused on the one person who continued to shriek...something at it. A name.
Not that it recognized the name. No, all that had filled the creature's mind were tantalizing whispers of home. Its clawed hand suddenly came swinging out, knocking aside whoever had been standing too close--Freya--before digging into Junko.

Xiu's swipe picked Freya right up off the ground and shoved her far, her body bouncing against the ground once, twice, three times. She finally stopped, because Sharra's legs got in the way of more bouncing, and she slammed into the boil instead. Then she rolled back, and lay limp on the floor. A moment of silence passed before she let out a long, extended groan of both pain and frustration.
"That huuuuurt.."

Sharra never even saw their opponent's claws connect with Junko. The boil was far too taken off guard by the Valkyrie hurtling towards him.
His brain's first thought was to try and catch the ghoul, but he only had enough time to lean halfway down before she crashed into him through absolutely no fault of her own. Softening a bit of the impact, the nergal demon didn't have any real time to brace himself, and so went down in a heap with his legs still 'neath her. Afraid to budge lest he deposit Freya on the ground, he instead pushed himself to a proper sitting position, leaning over the ghoul who was just nearly barely almost in his lap. "Ah, hullo...are you all right there?" The smile he gave her was almost nervous, laced with concern and a certain strain of desperation that the situation had conjured within him.
He did offer her a hand though, the human one, in case she felt up to sitting, or in best case scenario, standing. This was going to be a short fight if they all ended up on the ground.
Aksaja had said it wasn't really Xiu. Junko knew, she knew it was true but she just didn't want to accept it. First Riley, then Jericho...Xiu? What had happened to her? She had seemed fine! She hadn't shown the signs of Insanity as the others had! What happened? Why was she like this? Why was she doing this? She merely whimpered and stumbled back as Seiji oulled her and told her to stop talking to 'it'. No, don't call Xiu an it. This is Xiu...it..Xiu...
She opened her mouth to call out to Xiu again despite the boils' insistence that she shouldn't, but the only sound she could make was a breathless squeak of surprise as large claws suddenly plunged themselves in her chest. "X-Xiu..why..?"
Junko fell back away from Xiu's claws, dissipating into Fear to reform again later.
((Junko has dissipated! But...she'll reform without being an Insanity boss. QQ Sigh.))

"Nu." Freya pouted when she muttered the word, refusing to open her eyes in case she was still seeing people melting. She felt Sharra's hand, and took it, but she couldn't pull herself up. Eventually she just let it go and settled back onto the ground.
"Everything hurts too much. I stays here, yeh goes. Saves yehrself."
What she wouldn't give for a nice hole to crawl into right about now.
Aksaja watched pretty much helplessly as the fog-Xiu attacked Junko again and she went down. He barely noticed Freya rolling into Sharra at first - golden eyes wide as the ghoul fell. "Junko!" he half-screamed and then charged at the fog again. If she didn't get back up again . . . he would be even more pissed.
"Leave her alone! If you want to attack someone so damn bad then come and get me!" Yes, he was challenging her and trying to draw her attention away from the others. He'd already fought off the effects of the fog once . . . he could do it again, dammit.
Gaze snapping to Freya and Sharra for a moment, he offered the nergal boil a quick smile - though there was still a shadow of pain and doubt behind it, he was trying very hard to believe . . . . somehow things would be okay. "Good to have you back with us." Then to Freya, "You can't give up. Not against this stuff. If you stay down there, you're letting it win. Get up!"
