Dakota sighed in relief as the creature dissipated and then looked at the team. Not enough injuries or maiming for them so they seemed alright. He gave Melvin a funny look before nodding.

"Yep, what Jake said. I'm guessing we'll find a lot of these little buggers. Nice to be on the field right Melvin?" The moon hunter rolled his arm that held Chama and relaxed it, defending of course was not always as easy as it looked.

"You guys really knocked it out of the ball park, good thing I had the defend covered." Ah yeah moon power. He gave a quiet look to Otto before laying a hand on the boy's head...and ruffling it.

He didn't say much but thats cause he didn't want to worry Otto anymore, he let his hand linger though as he addressed the other deathies Eva and Wilson, "So where too from here?"

Before anyone would have a chance to answer Dakota's question, the fog began to swirl, a new creature emerging as it solidified. Those that were insane cared not whether their opponents were prepared. They simply knew them to be invaders. To be attacking their Home.

The mantis bled into fog as it formed, but it stood in front of them, mandibles clacking, nearly 15 feet tall as he moved forward toward the first two that caught his attention. Not truly distinguishing one from the next, just setting his sights on two and raising his claws. "Home."

Noting the look on Otto's face, Eva immediately proceeded to do what she did best: be touchy-feely...in a supportive way. Sidling up to him, she put an arm around his shoulders and tilted her head, lightly leaning it against the blond's. "Why don't you stick with us, Puppy? It'll be a lot more--watch out!"

She suddenly gave Otto a hard shove back, managing to just get him out of the way as the attack came down on herself and Dakota. Too slow to evade, she took the attack directly to her left shoulder, a jolt of pain running down her whole body as she momentarily collapsed. Ugh, so there were more of these things out here!

Forcing herself back up, Eva summoned Chara again, holding the staff with only her right hand as opposed to both right and left--with the hit her shoulder just took, she really didn't want to risk doing any more harm to it. Spinning it so that the weapon was blade-side up, she swept out at the insanity creature, trying to drive it back.

“Where to, indeed,” Wilson murmured as he pulled down his mask and attempted to peer through the fog, but to no avail. “If we had a map or there was less fog we could give you a direction, but at the moment I just don’t—“ He stopped suddenly as the mist began to swirl ominously. His eyes narrowed and he pulled his mask up over his face once more. The clacking sound was familiar as the mantis stepped out of the fog and swung its claws at Eva and Dakota. “So, it’s you again.”

Arms raised, Wilson stepped in front of Eva and attempted to give her a worried look from behind the mask. “You’re starting to not look so good. You should probably stay back and recover for now,” he suggested before he ran forward and sprayed the creature with green gas.

The ruffling of his head by Dakota, the affectionate touching from Eva; Otto had a great deal of people to keep him from despair. As if that wasn't heart warming enough, the act of them pushing him back from an attack had him nearly dumbstruck. "Eva!" She'd taken quite the hit. Both of them had.

Otto gritted his teeth and summoned up Tenya once more.

The halls were so narrow, and everyone grouped together so tightly that Otto didn't risk an attack right off the bat. He backed away from the grouping of hunters and the giant mantis, uncertain what to do with himself.

And then said ******** it and threw the bigass boomerang over everyone's heads.

Because ******** Safety.

It was just a shame that a moon, he didn't even watch his own back.

"s**t damn. Another one? ******** ********." Chama was up in a instant and flared as it struck at the mantis.

It seemed everyone was doing well despite the many creatures popping out of every corner. Melvin had to wonder that just talking in a group like this was making them sitting ducks, but if there were already this many monsters about, he doubted there were safer places. The debriefing pretty much told everyone that they would be running into these things. However, the idea of kicking one member out was not something Melvin was going to object. His eyes narrowed as he looked over at Jake. "I asked a question to get a answer, not your lip." He wasn't sure, and having a trainee like him bitching back at him out of the blue wasn't welcomed.

I think I might develop a itchy trigger finger.

GREAT! Saliva was all for being shot more.

It was then that a massive bug rose out from the mist, and he found a lump choking him as he moved back. The current situation was a unwelcome one. Dank, abandoned house.....dark.....crawling with bugs. Not many little bugs either, but one MASSIVE one, which made him skin crawl and his heart race. Not bugs. Not bugs. Not bugs. A flickering reminder of a dank room full of small centipedes and one haunting woman came to mind.

Breathing deep, he tried to calm his shaking nerves when everyone around him threw or fired their weapons. Startled by the attacks, the mantis left, and Melvin tried to keep himself from fainting.

Hey. You gotta fight these things. Come on. Next time, aim and fire. If he didn't, then what was the point of her being here? Freezing up like this wasn't going to spell good things in a fight, and Saliva had her concerns. Then again, he was a rookie.

Eva wasn't sure why the creature suddenly decided to retreat...but it wasn't a choice that she was going to complain about, that was for sure. She waited a few seconds after it disappeared into the fog before collapsing onto her knees, moreso out of relief and exhaustion than anything serious. She definitely wasn't in as good shape as she would have liked to have been, though.

Still, the girl was hanging on, and she was still all smiles and cheer. "Well! That was exciting," She chirped brightly, though there was a vaguely tired tone behind her voice, "Was that your first battle, Jake, or have you been roped into others already?"

Eva turned to look at the death newbie, offering him a friendly grin before her gaze suddenly slid to Melvin.

"Hey, you okay there?" She suddenly frowned, her brows knitting together in concern as she looked at the other trainee. He didn't...really look well, she noticed, though Eva wasn't particularly sure why that was.

The creature fled. Otto de-summoned his weapon, looking over the group around him. They seemed worse for wear, in need of medical attention. Melvin looked like he was going to piss himself. Just how many groups were out there?

"I'm pretty sure there's a relief tent 'round here," The boy drawled with an irritated expression. "Maybe ya'll should head over or sumthin'..." Not that he actually cared. That would be silly.

Otto didn't feel like sticking around. He was still embarrassed from earlier. His instincts told him now that the others were focused on the newbies, he could slip out without having to thank anyone.

"I'm out. Later." He waved a hand and hurriedly headed back into the fog.

Melvin shot a nervous glance to Eva, nodding. "Yeah. I'm fine." He wasn't. This was was doing more damage to his nerves then to his actual body, and he kept his gun pressed to his side to steady his hands from shaking. He wasn't going to be much use to anyone if he stayed like this, and knew he needed a time out.

"I'm just going to check up on something....back there." He needed to sit down. Collect his nerves. Breathe for god's sake.

The group was doing fine without him. He barely offered any assistance, and maybe he could find another party to tag along onto. Somewhere where newbies with lip like Jake weren't around.

Giving a small wave, he turned and headed back where he saw Otto vanish into the mist.
