HistoryBeatrix was found by an old mare in the Aa wi u s di plains when she was barely able to wobble on her own four flimsy legs. The mare took her in and raised her as her own until she was unable to walk the plains she lived in. Her final resting place was in the shade of the woods east of the plains where her old bones gave in and collapsed. Beatrix remained at her side through her passing, and lured a couple natives to her, to return her to the earth. The old mare always spoke of the spirits and how they were always with her, and one day she would return to them as well, but she vowed to stay at Beatrix’s side until she was able to handle living on her own.
So whether it is a figment of her imagination, or the literal spirit of the old mare that watched after her as a youth, she is accompanied by a force unseen to the normal eye. She calls the unmarked grave of her mother her home and will rarely leave it; only twice a month to pick a new bouquet of roses.
On her outings she has started many rumors among the native folk. They consider her a ghost herself, a soquili that trots through the rolling mist in the early morning. She weaves in and out of the trees, avoiding direct line of sight, whinning and nickering her own little tune as she does so. And just as soon as you think you’ve got a good look at her, she vanishes into the woods; the cracking of twigs and rustling of leaves the only proof she was once there.
