The fuuinjutsu bunch weren't writing for very long, as their seals were succinct and short. Springing around the great hall, a large sphere encompassed all those within its bounds, save for the ones producing the fuuin. The copycat skeleton also entered Zama no Benso, but was unable to transform into lightning. Confusion went through it as he stepped forward, looked around, and then turned to face the other side of the hall just as Kaileer smacked into the barrier. His bounce off of the shells would propel him back through the crowd of fumbling hand seal makers and through the confused mimicker. The reaction of the two non-leaders to such a bolt of lightning going in between them stopped their hand seals cold as they tripped in surprise. Sprawling onto the ground, one of them turned to a pile of jumbled bones while the other performed a quick somersault, unfortunately into a table. Distracted by its sudden entanglement with the wooden furniture, it would be a little while until its attention returned to the situation. (1 post delay, 6/9 skeletons remaining) The mimicking skeleton that had Kaileer pass through it stretched out both arms as it was electrocuted, its jaw rattling around comically. (paralyzed) The two leaders finished their bumbling hand seals, having kept a level head, and Korabo'd their same Doton jutsu together. Releasing a surge of chakra, they lifted debris like stones and sticks, and even chairs with tables too thanks in part to their collaboration efforts. Through the air they sent these flying, more to cause a shrapnel and bleeding effect than anything, if they scored with their wide-ranging attack.

Sanjūroku-jū no Saisei Kekkai [ Thirty-Six Layer Self-Repairing Barrier ] Rank: C Official Description: A team of ninja create a thirty-six layer barrier which if damaged, will constantly repair itself. The barrier also prevents those outside of it from sensing anything inside it. Mabui claimed it could stop and contain any individual jinchūriki, and it proved to be strong enough to take a direct Tailed Beast Ball from Killer B, with only nine of the thirty-six barriers shattering. However, Naruto Uzumaki transformed into his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode and forced the Ball the rest of the way through with B following, showing it couldn't withstand the assault of two jinchūriki. Guild Description: A spherical barrier, one is able to produce & maintain only one shell at a time. As stated, 10 barriers is enough to keep the Hachibi well within its confines, even through a direct Tailed Beast Ball. The barriers heal on the caster's next post after being broken. After the initial C-ranked cost, the chakra upkeep is only D-ranked unless broken, at which time the initial cost is reapplied once again.

Tamaishi Danmaku [ Pebble Barrage ] Rank: D Official Description: The user releases a surge of chakra that is capable of lifting small stones and pebbles off the ground and sending them flying towards the enemy. Only small stones up to the size of a grape can be sent flying, and objects too small such as sand will not be carried by the chakra. The force of this attack is not really damaging. It’s only something like having many pebbles thrown at you. It’s more of a distraction and annoyance than to actually damage. Guild Description: Using several handsigns, the small debris will lift & be thrown.

-----ωell, the lightning transformation didn't go quite as planned as the two fuuin casters threw up some sort of barrier, and I bounced off of it, redirecting and blazing through the line of hand sign users. Sliding to a halt, I turned to see the damage. Two of them stumbled, one collapsing into a pile and the other rolling into a table, where it got stuck. Likewise, the rib-wielder rattled about, having been caught in my technique. Apparently, even though it had mimicked the Zama no Benso, it had been unable to resist the shock, leaving it wide open to physical attack. -----The two in the middle row, the leaders, who hadn't stumbled finished their hand seals and countless pebbles rose from the ground, flying at me with tremendous speed. However, their efforts were in vain as they bounced off of the aura of chakra that surrounded me, falling harmlessly to the ground. Good. I'd only spent enough time mastering the state of defense; this just proved it worked. -----Using the mimicker's paralysis to my advantage, I turned on it to take it out of the picture. Since there was no sense in wasting energy, and since they had fallen apart so easily so far, I used a simple, basic chop straight down to strike the immobile skeleton. Without waiting to see if the thing fell apart, I switched my attention to the distracted skeleton who had tripped into the table. Using said table, I sprung forward into a flip that ended with a downward kick descending from above the skeleton.

"Uh oh." 'Uh Oh' was right, by the looks of things. Not only had the illustrious Dr. Crane failed to sneak around, all of them had failed their little stealth mission and were well on their way to an icy, water grave. Magma Lady didn't seem to care all that much, which was good, seeing as if she did they'd all probably be dried-out husks of crumbling flesh and bone. Small miracles, he supposed. Small miracles did little to stop the ice and ice bombs headed their way, but it was nice to know they wouldn't burn to death either. "Haha, nope," he laughed nervously as he flashed a handsign and jumped into one of the cave-walls. He melted in and moved about as if he were moving through water, such were the powers of ninjutsu. Good thing, too, as he wasn't ready to become a popsicle just yet.
He poked his head out from the wall he had jumped into, 'treading', as it were, underneath the rock. He had to check if everyone else was okay as well. "So, stealth doesn't seem like it's going to work, does it?" He wanted to pop back into his wall and try his hand at the sneaking, but he didn't think it was going to work. Violence, then, seemed like the right answer. And when didn't it?

The simple chop did the job, sending the mimic to the ground with relative ease. Now a pile of bones for a little while, Kaileer would not have to worry about it. His next move, over the table, connected his foot with the skull of the skeleton like a grand soccer move. Popping off, the head flew long into the barrier, which severed its ability to keep itself together. Score one for the home team! (4/9 remaining) The two remaining undead weren't going to be so easy. Fumbling through some more hand seals, one of them clapped its hands, sending a jutsu of catastrophic might reeling through the enclosed area. A wave of destructive fire surrounded the two leaders, engulfing everything around them. Shearing easily through the chairs, tables, and even rubble, the fire would easily pass where Kaileer stood. Though, with his active Zama no Benso, the narrator was hoping that it would count as a jutsu, defending him but being stripped of its power after the Katon flew past, leaving him un-crisped but defenseless. The second leader's hand seals' ability was tied into seeing the Katon jutsu work, and as the Katon jutsu appeared to leave Kaileer unscathed due to his previous active State (hopefully), he would see and feel his flesh slowly melt and waste away. Normally just using this technique, it would be easy to spot as a genjutsu, but with the associated Katon attached to it, the skeletons hoped that it would leave him vulnerable long enough for them to prepare more hand seals. Whatever jutsu/state Kaileer had used to block their previous Doton had definitely unnerved them enough to take precautions!

Gouka Hataka no Jutsu [ Hellfire Clap ] Rank: A Official Description: A Jutsu of catastrophic might, it draws upon the unwieldiness that is flame. Calling forth Chakra from their deepest reserves, the user will perform the trademark techniques that signal the beginning of a Katon. Yet rather than ending in the Tora seal, as most would, it instead ends in the Ram seal as the user’s hands clap together loudly. At that moment a wave of destructive fire flies forth around the user, engulfing all around them. Spread about in a circle, this technique also has the nasty side-effect of searing through anything it comes into contact with. If in its path lay a boulder it would be hewn in two, for example. Defensive Jutsu are defeated by this technique as well, for its intensity is beyond measure. The diameter of this wave is 15 meters. Defensive Jutsu of this stage or any below are instantly nullified by this technique, though the attack itself does not carry through the defense and to the opponent. -----αs the second skeleton fell to pieces, I turned in time to see fire whirling around one of the skeletons, lighting up the entire cavern. The flames shot out from around it toward me. Making several quick hand signs, I focused chakra in the palm of my right hand and held it out in front of me. The flames that came in contact with it dispersed, knocked aside as if they were physical, but they also pushed against my own jutsu, breaking it. Thankfully, I received no more than a blast of heat from it. -----However, pain shot up my arm, and I watched in horror as the flesh there began to melt. How? I didn't think I'd been hit. Not a moment after the panic, I realized the liquefied flesh was... transparent, like it wasn't really there. Genjutsu? The pain made it hard to think, but I remembered the state of defense allowed me see through weak Genjutsu. Grasping to that fact, I threw up the hand seal for Kai, and sighed at the relief that followed. -----Disoriented, which might well have given the skeletons enough time to prepare something else, I charged forward, returning my blade to it scabbard to free up my other hand. Focusing chakra into both palms now, my hands sparked with electricity of raiton. No longer of genin rank, I could apply my elements to the Rush of Six Palms, and with six strikes, I could hopefully hit both of the skeletons, given they didn't throw something in my face. The first I attacked was the one to the left, striking first at its right shoulder, then abdomen, and finally uppercutting the chin. I turned on the second skeleton, finishing the strikes with a similar pattern. -----I needed to get out of here before the skeletons reset. Thankfully, my attacks had brought me much closer to the other side of the building, though there was still the barrier to contend with.

Exhausted from keeping the fuuin spheres active, the two skeletons on the outside dropped to their knees and fell to their hands, with one of the spheres deactivating. The two leaders, having tried the best they could with their limited bodies, fumbled so hard on making hand seals that their fingers broke off. Bones popped off and flew in multiple directions, beaning the second leader enough that it had problems readjusting itself before it too was reduced to a pile of bones. (2 left!) This was the home stretch, folks, for this encounter~
For those in the tunnel portions for which no one knows if we're supposed to reply to or not:
╔════════════════════════════════════════════╗ The only foe remaining was the one that was now hiding in the walls, on the other side of the ice, since the others had disengaged. Unsure of what to do with that one remaining fella, the Reiki-type being stood still as the Magma Lady retreated further away. Perhaps now would be a good time to regroup, to reset the confusion situation and plan out how to further lower the waters, while avoiding the baddies that lay within these walls? Sometimes avoidance was a much better call than straight fighting. These baddies would not follow the group of shinobi out to the cathedral, as something present there acted as a general deterrent. -----ωhat a waste of time and energy. The two 'leaders' fell apart with little trouble and the two skeletons holding up the barrier fell to their bony knees, seemingly exhausted of strength. One of the barriers collapsed with them, leaving a single layer that wouldn't be too difficult to get through. Approaching it, the chakra that made it up shied away from the aura around me, and it collapsed as well. Not bothering with the two remaining skeletons, I hurried away and through the still open front door. They were welcome to follow me if they desired, but they would likely meet the same fate as the others. -----Back outside of the cathedral, I considered my options of what to do. I could report my findings or keep exploring. There was still the fact that Inka was somewhere in the tunnels, or he was supposed to be. And the explosions I'd heard that made me turn back and run into the skeletons in the first place. -----Speaking of Inka... the young man propelled himself out of the tunnels that had led the opposite direction before an icy blast could reach him. Someone I didn't recognize stood with him. He was tall more than a little creepy just to be in the presence of. I couldn't see much of what he looked like, as his head was covered, but the aura he gave off was chilling enough for me not to like him. Glancing back the way I'd come to make sure the skeletons weren't following, I approached them, a hand on the elemental blade at my side. "What's going on?"

"Someone with strong Fire and, apparently, Ice abilities. Jounin Sebastion claimed this for himself though. So unless he calls for back-up, or I hear something like a death-rattle, I'm stuck out here." He explained. "How are you?" He chuckled, his voice hollow and muffled by the respirator he wore.

Either way, my first impression had been that he was the dark, brooding type, but that didn't seem to be the case. -----Finally letting the aura of Zama no Benso fade away, I considered the best way to answer. "Well... I was attacked by a bunch of skeletons, and there's some sort of shrine or something on the far side of that building." For all I knew, animated dead was a normal thing in this place. I gestured over my shoulder to the cathedral-like building that was in no way a church before looking back at it. "If you go that way, the door is open, but be careful not to touch it, or it'll sap your strength. Oh, and there's still two skeletons left. Unless they finally reset. I lost track of what 'time' it was." My gaze returned to the red-eyed male. "Maybe you can find something else, but if we're not needed here, we probably should check out the shrine like we were asked."

[x] Inka stayed quiet for a moment, listening to the tunnel's occupants behind him. With a small hum he nodded. "Let's check out the shrine. Sebastian and Shou will will only get cornered in an laready tight space if we help." Red eyes turned to look past Kaileer, over to the large church he had originally wanted to investigate. "We might be able to find a way to stop this madness, or find it source in there." He softly prayed, words an almost incoherrent mumble as he began stalking towards the building. He stopped, a hand lifting to rub his right shoulder blade. "s**t." He swore. "I want to check out the shrine in this old building first. Unless you believe that there wasn't anything of note? Then we'll go to our original purpose." Meaning the Kirigakure Shrine, not the one in this tunnel system.

-----ι really didn't want to deal with the skeletons again. It's not that they weren't easy to defeat, because they were. They'd reset once before, and I couldn't keep up fighting them, especially if they used more genjutsu. The things, like the ANBU back at the office seemed to learn from the past day without realizing it, and utilize that knowledge. At the office, the Mizukage hadn't had to tell the ANBU to make a hole in the wall; he just did. Here, the skeletons had learned better than to try to attack me all at once. Which meant next time, since most of the techniques they used against me didn't work, they would start throwing bigger things that I couldn't defend myself from. -----At the same time... there were things I couldn't explain back there. The barred-off lake, the floating gem, the plaque... s**t, what did the plaque say? I hated my awful memory sometimes. "There was... a plaque beside the shrine, which made me think of a grave site more than a shrine. It said, ah... 'When faith is lost, when honor dies, the man is dead.' Or something... Under it, someone had written 'Save the people, save the world'." I shifted uncomfortably, adjusting the mask on my face to keep it from digging into my skin, and crossed my arms. "I think...the people are the key to stopping this, but all saving them did was lower the water..." I trailed off, realizing something. I wasn't sure if it would work, but maybe. "There's a lake behind the shrine, blocked off by a gate. I don't know if it's the source of the water, but maybe there's something underneath it? If it is the source, I don't if it'll lower any further, though." I shrugged. Trying to explain it was getting complicated. Heh... Maybe it would be easier for you to see for yourself. I don't know enough about the village to make much of a judgment here.

[x] Red eyes narrowed, his posture still and stiff. Eventually he sighed. Inka decided they'd lingered here long enough. This needed to be reported - further investigations can wait, much to Inka's dismay. "Syy needs to know." He conceeded. "We should head over to the Mizukage's Office and give a report. There is too much here to just make our own decision while the rest of the village fights itself." The Chuunin looked over to Kaileer, red eyes dark, almost hidden completly, under the respirator mask.

-----By 'Syy' he must have meant 'Sypher', the Mizukage. I'd heard him say it a couple of times now, but given the interactions I'd seen between them thus far, I could guess the two of them were close. To what level was none of my business. Nodding slowly in response, I looked one last time over my shoulder to the ancient building. I couldn't help wondering again why it was here, and why everything inside was so new. And the skeletons... What could animate skeletons? A puppet user, maybe, but that realm was beyond my knowledge. I knew weapons, not jutsu. -----My gaze returned to Inka briefly, and then to the tunnel beyond him. At least one of the others in the tunnel was a jounin, so I imagined they could handle themselves without us. Besides, he was right. It had been a while since we reported, since I'd never actually reported after the waters went down. I was pretty sure he had figured that out. That aside, the chuunin's sudden change in demeanor was somewhat frightening. Only a moment ago, he seemed almost light-hearted about the situation, but the mention of reporting had changed that. Given how others had treated me since arriving, I'd taken a liking to the older male. I'm sure he was about as comfortable spilling his thoughts to me as I was about asking, so there wasn't much I could do. Well, there was no sense wasting any more time here. With one last glance at Inka, I headed for the stairs back to the streets.

[x] Inka quirked an eyebrow at Kaileer's silence. The Chuunin followed though. His boots thudding on wet stone and squishing the mud (please let it be mud, he thought) and gait uncertain in the footwear. He wasn't used to such heavy steps, but it protected him from the water and he only had one dose of the antidote left. Inka chalked the young Jounin's silence as just his form of agreement - which he liked the thought of. Too often Inka got cranky because people went into detail about something that only needed a few words. Say what's needed. Everything else wastes time. Still... "Nothing got you in there, right?" He asked as he exited into the streets, realising Kaileer never mentioned his own well-being.
