Ruth tried not to look like a teadeer that had been caught in headlights when Alpinely called out her name. Jack damn it, there were students who weren't fully aware of her name and she would have preferred to keep it that way! But the Violet wouldn't allow a violent outburst, and so while Ruth angled her head towards the other ghoul all she gave was a small smile in acknowledgment.
The reaper looked more relaxed when Andrew called her Blondie and put a hand to her mouth in a silent giggle when Camilla pretty much admitted names were never exchanged between them. She stuck close to the fire demon and gave Uru a wave as well. Travel buddy, huh? It would have been a curious journey if she'd gone with Alpinely but there certain protocols to be followed, such as You stick to your Boss when he's there. She did, however, make an effort to scribble a note for the other ghoul and wordlessly pressed the slip of paper into Alpinely's hand.
She gave the resting-grump-face boil a nervous smile and a thumb's up, as if to further confirm what Andrew said. Uru was more than welcome to join them as travel buddies.

Alpinely will find the letter was in an unusually neat, practically type-face writing. It read: Call me Blondie. Perhaps after this Class we may further acquaint ourselves with each other.

Meanwhile, Petro tucked one of those festive paper horns behind his ear and gave a soft chuckle, "Good to meet y', Camilla. 'M Petro. Y' can call me Tro." The monster horse did note Carlos' less-than-stellar attitude towards walking and recalled how the cat had spent most of his time in another ghoul's arms. Without another word, the tall (if barely dressed) boil lightly plucked the cheshire out of the air and lugged him around as if a bag tucked against his side.
"Just say where y' wanna go." He told the cheshire cat and the dormouse. And because he also couldn't help but notice there were other students who had yet to find groups, "Any'v y' need a group? My other arm's free," Tro may have meant that as his elbow or hand. But if they wanted to be pickep and hauled around like a gym bag, Tro wouldn't have minded. It would be good exercise.

Catinka had been standing by, watching the furor of partner-grabbing while diligently chewing on the end of her sleeve and, in dismay, considering sneaking out the back. She was astonishingly easy to overlook, and reluctant to intrude, and so perhaps it wasn't surprising that she was approached instead of approaching.
"Oh," she said in response to Petro. "I um--I was... having trouble finding... someone... because I... wasn't... saying anything," she finished lamely. "Is there anyone who hasn't got someone?" she added, in a slightly louder voice, cheeks and ears going dark at the embarrassment. "If someone needs someone, I mean. Because I haven't got the arm to spare."
From anyone else, this comment from a one-armed ghoul might have seemed sarcastic. But it was Catinka: it only seemed a little bewildered.
Forced to pause his introductions and greetings until they were on the move, Rojo made up for it once they had reached the holiday doors, even if they were a little belated.
"Hello, Alpinely! Of course I remember you!" He clutched his boa close as he peered around the clearing. So festive! "And it is wonderful to meet you, Danirate!" The calaca paused, contemplating the vampire's question. "I suppose I came because—"
"Hello, Camilla!" He waved the boa, then turned back to Danirate.
"I came because I heard this place is a big celebration!" Rojo bounced on his toes, which were naked today for some reason, his boots nowhere to be seen. "Why did you come?"

Uru had donned on a red, white, and blue tie and a matching top hat. If this was required, he wasn't going to argue with it. He turned to look at the students, particularly the ones he was just speaking to to notice that they all had already began to pair off. He swallowed because that would mean he would be alone. He would okay with the idea... he is often left alone anyway. But this class trip required them to be together and... well, he wasn't exactly good at this. He tended to just follow behind a group and be 'part' of it.
It was only then that Andrew and Camilla had spoken up that he actually felt relieved. They both had offered to be partnered with him. Granted, he wasn't their first choices, that was okay, he was relieved that he wouldn't have to struggle and hide behind the group again.
"Alright." He offered as he walked up between the two groups. "I suppose I could be a third of either one of you... or bounce between you all. Either is fine."
"It's up to you. You can choose." Andrew shrugged at Uru. "Just make a decision so I can keep track of you or ignore you. I hate buddy systems."
Ruth was still being given no options. Andrew had claimed her. He didn't pay any attention to her slipping a note to another ghoul. She was allowed to have friends. Honestly if she wanted to go buddy with someone else, she would be allowed, he would just insist on claiming Uru. Blondie would have to get away from his wing first though.

Carlos was suddenly picked up. Yay! He snuggled into the one carrying him, even if it was in a slightly awkward position.
Very awkward. but Carlos was good just rag dolling it out letting his whole body hang limp from his new position. He would allow himself to stay there the rest of the trip if he could. (Though more likely he would squirm his way out the moment he saw something interesting.)
The class was coming together nicely, and the look on Selene's face was pinched with sheer, uninhibited pride. She placed her hands on her cheeks and let out tiny squealing sounds for at least thirty seconds, before finally sobering up enough to set them on their way.
Her little hand wrapped around the gnarled knob of the giant red door, and she turned it. It creaked far too noisily, and then exploded in a flash of light. When the smoke dissipated, the door was gone, and the black yawning void was open ahead of them.
"Okay! Everyone inside, quickly, and when you land (land?!) just stay close by. Oh, and watch out for falling students! Watch your heads everyone! Hmm.. it might be better if.. oh yes! Let's all go at once!"
The giant serpent tail behind Selene whipped out around her, wrapping slowly behind the group of students. "Ready? One, two-"
The tail snapped, shoving all of the students inside at once. Selene peered down from the door, watching them fall, and even gave a happy little wave as their world disappeared.
The fall was not in total darkness. The blackness that seemed neverending was continually punctuated by colorful sparks of fireworks being launched from unknown origins, and the sound of cheering and celebration. Fireworks grazed students with frightening proximity as they jettisoned up and around them, growing in size and intensity with each passing second. The longer they fell, the louder, the brighter, the more dangerous it became, until it felt like they were surrounded in nothing but fiery sparkles of color that seared their eyes into blindness-
And then the ground hit.
More to the point, they hit the ground, but it certainly felt like the ground had come up to hit them. It would take time to recover from the ringing noises in their ears, and the flashing dots that echoed in their vision; but when they did, they would find themselves in a forest. A forest not unlike the one they had just come from, in fact.
A forest with seven identical trees.
The sounds of celebration were distant now, but a constant. They could smell sulphur in the air, and hear the loud boom of what sounded like distant thunder in constant intervals.
And several moments later, Selene popped out of the door shaped like a Firework, and landed neatly on her feet.
"It's always a rough ride the first time!" She assured the students as she closed the firework shaped door behind her. "Is everyone all right? No injuries? Make sure your partner made it! Let's not dawdle, follow me now!"
Without delay, she began to walk through the forest, towards the sounds of revelry.

Camilla had felt the hand, er... paw, on her shoulder but gladly continued to pull him along. She knew how lazy her friend could be, and would have carried him if he'd been in his natural form. Unfortunately seeing as how this was a class... That probably wasn't a good idea... So! She was content to just drag him along.
As the horse boil introduces himself, Camilla bows her head politely towards him and smiles. "Nice to meet you Tro!" she says cheerfully. Suddenly, moments after that, the familiar paw left her shoulder, and Carlos was being carrying like a gym bag by Tro! The Dormouse ghoul couldn't help but laugh a bit at how happy Carlos seemed! She nods approvingly before the shy voice of a one armed ghoul caught her attention.
Looking towards the shy ghoul, Camilla smiles and nods happily towards her! "Sure! You can be in our group if you want! If you two don't mind that is." Camilla chirps cheerfully before turning to Carlos and Tro. However before she could get a response, Uru spoke up and Camilla turns towards him. "Heh! You can switch between the two groups if you want! I don't think anybody wouldn't notice if you disappeared!" Least Camilla wouldn't. Uru had been in pretty much every Field class she had so she'd definitely notice his disappearance!

Finally, It seemed they were ready to go! Ms. Selene's thirty seconds of tiny squeals of delight did not fall on deaf ears... in fact, it caused Camilla to cover her ears a bit... owie... Soon thought it was time! Camilla's tail was wagging rapidly as the door was opened and she laughs with delight at the display! When the smoke cleared, she stares in awe at the void left behind! Camilla would have gladly jumped in right that moment, but it was decided they should all go together! Suddenly, the Dormouse ghoul and every other student was gathered in Ms. Selene's coils before being launched through the door!
Flying! She was flying! Ok... No she was falling! But it was still exhilarating! Least it was the first five minutes... After that it became worrisome... Wouldn't a fall from this height dissipate them...? She didn't have long to think about it however! Soon, rocket shaped objects started zipping alarmingly close by them! "Eep!" she squeaks as she twists to narrowly avoid one! Eventually, the fireworks became more and more active until it was all blinding, before suddenly-!

The ground came to meet her! Or well... she came to meet it... Either way... her head was now spinning... "Owie..." she mumbles as she slowly lifts herself up and shakes her head... That was quite a ride... Moments later, Ms. Selene appeared through the door as if it were nothing... Her call to find their partners however, shook the Dormouse ghoul from her daze. "Oh! Carlos? Tro? Uru? A-... Ah... I never got the one ghoul's name..." Camilla calls before frowning... Big sister mode was a go! Fortunarely, one armed students weren't that uncommon. She should beable to find the ghoul easily!
As Camilla looked around she also looked for the gray reaper, and the fire demon, and Rojo. She'd also seen two other undead like students as well... Yup! Camilla was looking for everybody! However... The distant thunder like rumbles finally reached her ears and it had her freezing... "W-wow... I've never heard fireworks sound t-that loud..." she mumbles to herself in a suddenly nervous tone... It wasn't intense thunder and lighting Camilla! Don't worry! It's just fireworks! She tells herself mentally... It didn't seem to be doing anything to get rid of her anxious expression and worrying tail tip twitiching...

When Alpinely received the note, she read it straight away curiously. "Thank you, Blondie," the vampire ghoul cheerily placed the note in her pocket then flail-waved her hands beside her head again before she started picking up on the convos she was able to catch around her. "Spooktacular interactions, yay," she hopped up and down happily with enthusiastic claps of her hands, hyper indeed.
"Celebrations can also be frightening, I've come to think," Danirate replied to Rojo with a nod, "I considered that this field class may provide another change among usual proceedings that go on from day to day."
Also at the same time, Danirate resisted following through with the thoughts to cover his ears at each of Alpinely's energy-infused outbursts given that the distance between them was unfortunately inadequate to lessen the volume of her speaking that reached him and prompted mental replays and cringes at them that he repelled outwardly displaying of previous recollections involving somehow being dragged into bizarre situations not unlike these but to amplified extents. But he would do well to remember there was still plenty of time to this field class he thought.
And when they were flung into firework explosions, Danirate denied to himself that he was caught by surprise. He shook his head after the landing as he righted himself and checked his state of mind and surroundings; looking to see how the transition was made by the class, including the instructor, Rojo and the other students, and even Alpinely he supposed.
"Wheeeeeee!" Alpinely did not seem to lose much energy after landing from the unexpected, sparkly fall. She hand ended up on her hands and knees and wobbled as she stood but she was bouncing in place almost immediately again. She turned in place as she looked around for everyone she had seen before the sky dive after declaring, "Spooktacular!!!!!!!"

The walk to the town itself was a shorter jaunt than the one they'd needed to do, to get to the doors in Halloween. This was a blessing, because once they arrived, it was clear that they would not get a moment's worth of rest.
They began to be enveloped in the crowd. This was likely the reason Selene demanded everyone partner up; once they were consumed by the mass of people all sardined into one another, it would be easy to lose their group. She tried her best to keep them all together, but she could only do so much. And now that they were in the heart of the city, it was difficult - impossible really - to hear her soft, quiet voice. Even when she was yelling.
"To the left, you'll find stations where you can learn to make their celebratory fireworks - do be careful, they're dangerous! And to your right, there is food and drink - please touch none of it! You may look, but don't consume, these things are not made of fear, and you will get sick!"
Shouldn't she have gone over things like that before they'd arrived? Oh dear.
"If anyone bothers you, return straight to me! And stay safe! Stay together! Stay-"
A giant, brilliant firework shot straight up into the air, and exploded into a myriad of rainbow sparkles that filled up the night sky. The crowd ooh and ahh'd as one, before returning to the cacaphony of screams and cheers once more.

The line of stations seems infinite. People are shoving gunpowder down into all manner and color of tubes, and suddenly, one counter opens up. Take a seat and pick out your firework!
Making the Firework: Roll 2d6. The first number indicates how big the firework is, and the second number indicates how many colors are added into the mix of the firework tube. (You may pick any color(s) you want!)
Firing the Firework: Make sure you find a safe spot, and ask a denizen to light it for you. (unless you can create fire on your own!) Keep it pointed to the sky, and off it goes! Roll 1d10. This number indicates how well the firework works out. 1-2: It's a dud. Stomp it out and try again. 3-4: It pops on the ground and never fires. Try again. 5-6: It fires up into the sky, but doesn't blossom. Must have been one of those straight shooter types.. still, it worked, right? 7-8: The firework shoots up and explodes pretty well. The denizens are impressed! 9-10: You've created a MASTERPIECE! Hope you took a picture as all of the sky is lit up with your hard work! The denizens begin to cover you in bead necklaces to celebrate your accomplishment!

The food and drink are all bland, and tasteless. Why does everyone around you seem to be enjoying it so much? You swallow, and try another bite - oh, oh no you don't. Better find a good place to hide, you're about to vomit out the entire contents of your stomach.

It's difficult to get anyone's solid attention. Screaming just makes them scream back at you with joy. If you try to speak to them, they babble on about FREEDOM and FUN and JOY and HAPPINESS and TOGETHERNESS. They give you a bead necklace, and a flag with a giant bird on it. They kiss your cheeks and offer you a fizzy drink that you definitely should not imbibe. (If you do, see prompt above this one.)
They constantly try to dance with you, but you can't hold their attention for more than a few seconds. (If you wish for a more personalized experience, you may post for the attention of a particular denizen and quote me.)
You will have one hour (two OOC days) to explore Independence Town! Make sure you perform at least one activity to get full credit for this class! There will be essay homework for an extra point, so exploring will give you more experience to write on! Any questions, PM me! Holy s**t, there was a place that not only wasn't completely freaky-deaky, but it was made of what Americans screamed about fanatically on the Fourth of July. The small skeletal ghoul perked and grinned even more, somehow, than the limitations of her facial structure. (Dawson tried not to think too hard about it.)
And oh--the party favors. She squeaked and clapped her hands as the professor (who, while admittedly a scary looking lady, seemed timid enough to offset the beastly appearance). She broke out the dang tiaras, the boa, the hat, everything she could get her hands on. There was something about Fear cores which Syn helpfully reminded him of, but the hunter still glossed over it. PARTY TIME YEAH.
(And holy crap, they had doors! Like from the movie! AHHH SO COOL.)
Such was the golem's pep that she at first didn't freeze up when she went face to face with another one. Then it hit. (Dawson swore he could feel the joints literally lock up.) The smile froze and became tinged with nervousness. Was that the sound of her teeth chattering maybe?
"H-Hello, uh--"
Her voice sounded inappropriately deep. She tried to squeak a cough and was thankful when Professor Selene pulled them into the Town itself. Color, festivity, not scary.
Rough landing or not, call this skeleton sparkle eyed.

Piper was a little iffy about redecorating herself after taking alllll that time to get ready for this class, but....sigh. She took a few articles for herself and refluffed her hair afterwards just to make sure it looked good. "Celebration" had to mean they'd throw a Wicked party in that town, right? And this reaper was always down for a party. Maybe that would help her mood?
The method of travel definitely was something else. Piper curled up and covered her eyes, scowling through the blinding light show until she stumbled to the ground. Okay. Party City needed better transport.
She also realized she was still without a partner, having only belatedly heard some boil's offer. Rubbing her scuffed knees, she tried to huddle up and appear inconspicuous as she followed the teacher, apparently in the mood to get lost in a party but not to openly socialize.

One of the convinces of having wings is that falling is never a very scary experience. Sure the door blew up. (that was actually pretty cool) and sure there was a fall. (though Seline touching him was not welcome at all.) but over all? Andrew landed on his feet with ease.
Even if it felt like the ground had lurched up a bit. Boots were designed to handle that impact.
What got him excited was the smell of sulphur and the sight of explosions over head. His tail burned high, and anyone standing around him would feel more heat in the night air. Now this was a celebration.
Andrew followed Selene only long enough to get to the party.
once there he spotted fireworks and then any hope of keeping him with the group was gone. Despite any attempts to keep with the group, Andrew was gone to the fireworks stand. "Uru fireworks." was the only warning anyone had. And that wasn't even much.
Andrew wasn't about color... he was about a little size and shoved it together with some expert skill. Perhaps he knew how to make these from home. Maybe. He only chose a nice red.
Andrew set it off himself of course. And off it went. there was a reason why time and color wasn't necessary. While the firework was normal on the outside his own fear burst into the air making patterns and zigzags unlike a normal firework. hey hung in the air just a little longer than normal, a slow burn that faded to the ground. Of course the people here hadn't seen the magic a determined fire demon could do before, and were of course impressed. Though Andrew did not appreciate being suddenly swamped in beads.
The display of sound at the door causes Carlos to drop his ears flat. He did not like it, but he did creep forward. And then suddenly they were falling. And to that Carlos could only laugh. Being a cat he of course landed on all fours but the falling sensation was wonderful. Like the fabled Alice.
Even the landing which was sudden didn't throw Carlos off too much. what did throw him off was the terrible racket. his ears laid flat as he walked forward once more.
"Too loud." Carlos whined from his position wither it was still in Tro's arms or on the ground. Carlos might have lost track in the fall.
And the cat did not like it anymore as the approached the town. his ears laid flat at all the sounds and screaming and his tail curled around himself.
