It was an adverse effect on him. He well knew the witch wasn't good at fights and their enemies or simply said opponents since their only purpose was to defeat them. She needs him? It was more like he needed her, even he was dense over relationships, he could feel the liking from Maple. The pure and lovable sentiment made him feel good when he was with her, she never make a disdaining face at him nor fear expression. The emotions she delivered about AJ was merely positive. It might be the reason why he would spent everything to protect her.

The serpent dragon hopped and dodged, blocked and push the shadow's attack one by one when he stole a moment to check on Maple. When the eyes snapped back to his opponent, a tendril raked his cheek and dug into the wall behind him. So close that it might be his head, the sharp teeth of the tail head crashed the tendril to free the boil.

Each of them displayed a mediocre exchange of blows, the Shadow still proved to be a little bit stronger.

(Maple may or may not would have wanted to know how she was affecting AJ. On one hand, she would have felt great, on the other she might have been so overwhelmed with it that she would simply dissipate).

PART 2: THE FIGHT

It was unpleasant when he felt there was some forces restricted him from using FEAR and he could use nothing but physical damage. It was irritating but he didn't need to worry about Maple so much as the duo were on a similar level. The more he dragged the fight, the bigger the grin of the beast he locked up a long time ago. He wanted his fangs sank into the shadow's flesh and torn a big piece off. He wanted to dig his hand through the centre of him and pulled his heart out, feeling the lively throbs and crushed it into nothing. He wanted to destroy the shadow until he couldn't move, like those kids who ridiculed him at the back alleys.

"Shut up," muttered AJ.

With a loud sound, he grabbed the head of the shadow and knocked it against the wall.

Phase Two: The fight

Her back was to AJ, her own struggle having moved her about just a bit. All she could hear was his fight, the loud crack and his snarl yet was unable to look back to make sure he was alright. The shadow of herself was on the move once again, lashing out with claw like hands.

(It was at this time that Maple realized how it was fighting. So unlike how she did, but then again maybe like it.. she didn't know either what her fighting style was like).

The claws once again tore at one of her sleeves as she tried to pull away, leaving a nice little gash and drew a trickle of blood. Maple gasped a whine as she continued to retreat, her broom behind her and already in swing. With another pathetic little noise, she pulled her broom forward with all her might - not noticing the small little red sparks that danced around the bristles briefly. With a solid crack, it struck the shadow upside the head sending it stumbling backwards along with herself.

It hissed in anger.

"Wh-when is this.. g-going to be .. over.." She was so over this. qq

PART 2: THE FIGHT

The laceration, cut and gashes sent the bloods flying with the vigorous movements, the red flashed by his eyes had loosened the gate locking the beast up. He wanted to come out and make destruction, more bloods was desired, the longing to tear the wings was raising.

As if infected by his excitement, the shadow was irritated and his attack became more aggressive. He didn't give time for AJ to take a breath, the hits came in successive non-stop blows. Punches, ripping, crashing, slapping and whatnot, the fight had incandesced. AJ seemed to lost himself in the battle.

The more vexed his shadow was, the more AJ enjoyed his fight. It had been a long time since he had such an amazing fight, the fight with the hunter and the battle with Medea were some remarkable ones.

If he saw the wounds on Maple, he'd crashed both shadows before he princess-carry her to Nurse Cricket.

Phase Two: The fight

The strength behind her last attack diminished - for now, hopefully - as Maple took another swing at the shadow. The bristles swept across its torso causing the inky blackness to distort and mist before it reformed back into its original shape. It wasn't enough to deter it like before as he clawed at her once again, another little gash in her pajama shirt.

Nope, it wasn't ending just yet either.

Their clothes.....yes, when the tendrils tore his shirt from the shoulder and made it a useless piece of cloth and reached out, threatening to tear his pants as well. He hopped back in reflex. "Hey you, those're the only clothes on me, I don't want to play naked apron with you." He drawled, spin kicked the dark tendrils coming to him.

The mist deformed and reformed to tangle around his spins, then a force pulled AJ closer to the shadow. "Candlejack." The claws snapped onto the substances and severed the link. With the advantage of proximity, he pulled himself upward and created an obtuse angle with his knee that jabbed from his chin upwards.

Retreating, the boil check his spin, it was bruised with a dark purple color.

Phase Two: The fight

This battle really just seemed to be taking forever, and Maple was getting the sense that perhaps it wasn't just her. With her pitiful sparring experience, it was hard to gauge how long a fight was supposed to be (really, all she could recall with alternate realities.. those seemed long) but this just seemed to drag on. And it seemed that AJ was maybe too was feeling the same sentiment as her. He seemed frustrated and rightfully so, his opponent seemed to be so close to defeat. More than her's.

The witch's shoulder slouched, the grip on her broom loosened slightly as she haggardly avoided another close call from the shadowed creature - not completely, like always as she shadow pulled at her hair. Maple brought the butt of her broom down on its foot as hard as she could to push it off of her and get it away.

A glance caught the sight that Maple's shadow was pulling the real one's hair, the witch he knew never do something as violent as that. That fact caused his mind to spin and shortly he made a conclusion the replica might not be copied from them but their possible alternate counterparts. Another guess was they were, in fact, pulled out from them but altered their personalities.

Either way, they made no differences now. Even though inexperienced in combat, the witch seemed to barely manage the fight. Having his attention back to his shadow, he noticed the tendrils that wriggled began to dissipate, he smirked in confidence.

"Bro, do you think the shadows can speak?" The boil asked, lunged forward with a spring to grab the head of it in his claws and knocked it against the wall. "I guess not," laughed AJ.

He took a peek at Maple, confirmed that the witch was too busy to keep her eyes on her opponent. The piercing red eyes shifted back onto the shadow he pressed against the wall, his tendrils had crawled onto AJ and struggled to escape from his grasp. The serpent dragon pulled up a icy smile, something Maple never seen when he was with her. It was cruel, bloodthirsty but naive at the same time, as if a murderer enjoying his toy.

"Hey," he whispered as he leaned closed to the shadow under his bondage, like purring to a lover. "I want to know if shadows like your kind would bleed, will you help me?" The tendrils around his limbs and neck tightened, it could feel the boil was planning to do something....awful. The boil smiled deeper, as if to prove its guess was right. The next moment, the shadow would feel the intensive blunt pain as his face smashed into the wall. It won't be allowed to feel the pain slowly as the second wave closely hit.

The pain accumulated, but its existence dissipated like ashes. It couldn't coordinate its sensation but passively accepted the violence. AJ who indulged in the brutality didn't spend a second to deal with the tendrils squishing him out of air, the smile transformed into toothy grin. All he was thinking was whether he was depleted of oxygen or it would dissipate first. He simply watched as more particles dispersed and escaped the shadow, like something dissolving in water.

Sooner or later, there was only a black mass under his hand, a crash and they scattered through the gaps of his claws. To his disappointment, it didn't scream, groan or bleed. "Game over." As if there were bloods on his hand, he licked it in a seductive way like savouring a delicacy, hopefully the witch didn't see that.

He suppressed his excitement and evilness before he turned to Maple, he moved to her side but found himself stuck. He couldn't move an inch but simply watched. The hand reached out met with something invisible, he was like locked in an invisible box. "Jack!"

Phase Two: The fight

From Maple's point of view, all she could really see was AJ's final defeat of the shadow version of himself. And being preoccupied - still - with her own, it was difficult to really see the full extent of his blissful rage and the total destruction. She couldn't see the wicked smile, couldn't hear the words he cooed to the creature before tearing it to pieces. All she could see that he was done, he had won.

And she still struggled. He couldn't help her, he wasn't allowed obviously. The barrier said enough and the fact that this was en exam. She would have to keep going, even though she was tired and felt the early warnings of soreness and bruises forming. The ghoul lamely struck the creature with the broadside of her broom again, just as he tugged at a bit more of her hair, pulling out a few strands.

Phase Two: The fight

Now, he had nothing to hinder him from looking at Maple's direction. The over protective boil punched the barrier as hard as he could when the shadow pulled the witch's lovely hair. The hair he loved to play in his hand, the lovely brown that she pinned with the bat bows he gifted her.

He had two best friends when he first joined the school, and Maple was the one that was always on his side. He cherished their friendship more than anything and seeing her being hurt was unacceptable. That being said, they were in an exam. It would be void of anything if she didn't manage it by herself. He believed she had the ability to deal with it, but it felt bad to see the witch hurt. His fists held tightly besides him, both arms tinted with blue and purple. "You can do it, Maple," called AJ.
