I fell in love with a girl by the sea When she smiled her sweet smile and flicked her blonde hair at me Turns we spent, alone in the sand And went through the good and the bad, hand in hand
But there was another world out there for her That promised her freedom and spoke of adventure And my memory, and the smell of the sea Weren't enough to keep her with me For nothing could keep her with me

I am a Seacraftman, a fisher by trade And I sail on a cutter, the best ever made I've been the world over; north, south, east, and west And the middle of nowhere's where I likes it best

The work it is weary, the hours are long But my spirit is willing, my back it is strong And when the works over the wine skins will pour We'll dance at the gather, when we get to shore
