Name: Alya
Age: 17 Turns
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Undecided
Craft: Cooking - baking craft (formerly)
Rank: Apprentice Junior Weyrling
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: For all intents and purposes, Alya appears to be a bright-eyed and pretty girl, little more and little less. Her skin is a lovely shade of olive, and her hair is thick and wavy, a dark brown that seems mixed with faint streaks of red in the light. She sports dark brows and almond-shaped eyes of similar hue. She has a small frame, which lends to the idea that she’s a little delicate, but her chest and hips are slowly beginning to fill in. It’s impossible to know how much just yet.

Personality: People don’t expect much from Alya, and she makes sure it stays that way. She’ll ask dumb questions, stare with wide-eyes when asked anything complicated, and will play the damsel in distress role with perfection. In essence, she plays dumb because that’s what everyone expects of her. It allows her to flit easily between groups; all she has to do is flutter her eyes, giggle a little, and ask brightly just what people are up to. No one expects much of her this way, and so when something goes wrong... well, it’s more or less dismissed because it’s her. That gives her plenty of chances to sneak out and have some fun, whether that’s flirting with the boys around the Hold until they take her chores for her, or finding some mischief to get into. Faranth forbid that her family every find out, but Alya longs for the thrill of adventure, for a bigger purpose outside of her little life.

Her sunny personality and her optimism is hard to miss, and Alya can easily mesh her way into a new group. Aggressive cheerfulness, she likes to call it, and it hasn’t failed her so far! On the flipside, Alya doesn’t actually have any close friends and doesn’t mind keeping it that way, content to keep everyone at a very huggable arm’s length before flitting on to the next group. She’ll work her charms on just about everyone—‘Oh, I’m so tired and I think I’ve hurt my back lifting this flour—could you please help me? Please?’ Then, when they turn their back to help the poor girl out, she’s winked out of sight. She doesn’t mean anything spiteful by it nor does she shy away from hard work—she’s just a flake!

Her theatrics can be a little ridiculous when she really gets going, and sometimes she lands herself in an even worse situation than she started in! For example, if she whines too much about a certain chore, she often gets settled with one that may involve less work, but is certainly more boring and time consuming. She can grate on nerves so much that she might even get punished for simply not sucking it up and getting it done!

Though she seems to have as much depth as a puddle, if anyone were to really get to know Alya, they’d find a quick-thinking, mischievous girl hiding underneath the façade. Friendly by nature, she’ll talk to everyone and anyone, and is more inclined to play than work. She doesn’t do well when someone tells her ‘no’ when she suggests something risky or unorthodox, and will often test to see if there’s any chance she could get away with it regardless of what she’s been told! Though she’ll outwardly agree to just about anything with a smile, she’s stubborn on the inside, and headstrong to boot. But playing The Game is the most important thing to Alya, and she wants to come out on top.

Positive Trait List Sunny, clever, adventurous
Negative Trait List Manipulative, flighty, dramatic

History: Alya has always been told she won’t amount to anything, as is expected of her. She’s supposed to become a baker, supposed to grow up beautiful, not supposed to talk too much, and, if all goes as planned, she’ll marry a nice, attractive man and have plenty of kids. No one even thought that behind the pretty face and big, dark eyes was a mind that saw her plight as a... gift, of sorts! She did begin to learn Bakercraft from her mother, but was never much good at it, often too busy daydreaming or sneaking out of the kitchens to explore her surroundings to her heart’s content.

The only child to a single mother, Alya's childhood was a happy, if uneventful one. They lived in a Minor Hold on the Western continent, where her mother was quite the established baker among the families who lived there. Her father was a cobbler, and though they loved their daughter dearly, they just wished she would settle and do what was expected of her! Her shirking her duties in favor of running around and getting dirty like a fool were quite unbecoming! Why, there were already talks of setting Alya up with a boy who was brother to the heir of the current Holder! If she didn't behave, she might miss out on such an opportunity! Which, of course, was exactly what Alya was trying to do... Who had time for marriage when there was so much she hadn't gotten to do yet?

When a new Watchrider assigned to watching the Hold, their dragon sensed that she had the potential to Stand. It was like a dream come true for the girl. Why, she hadn’t even had to try and use her tricks on him at all (not that she expected it to work on a dragonrider, mind)! She told her mother and father of her plan and swooped out the door before either of them could think to stop her, and quickly adapted to the life of a Candidate.

White Baihath
Written by Masterharper
Colored by demon_pachabel

Origin of Name: Baihath's name is inspired after the Chinese name of White Hair Silver Needle tea, Baihao Yinzhen. For the production of Silver Needle, only the leaf shoots are plucked. Unlike the plucking of green tea, the ideal time and weather for plucking white tea is a sunny morning when the sun is high enough to have dried any remaining moisture on the buds

Inspiration: White Hair Silver Needle, is a white tea produced in Fujian Province in China. White tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, the same one that produces green, black and oolong teas. Like green tea, white tea leaves are minimally processed, but unlike green tea, only the youngest leaves and buds of the plant are used. Silver needle white tea consists of only the buds of the plant and is very rare, as it is harvested only two days of the year. Like all white teas, it is high in antioxidants and can potentially provide protection against a host of conditions such as regulating blood glucose, and helping to metabolize fat. Baihao Yinzhen is said to smell of "fresh-cut hay", and the flavour is described as sweet, vegetal, and delicate.

Personality: Baihath is the sort of dragon who is young at heart. Even as he ages, this white dragon will always seem to find a way to have fun. He will turn chores into games, and never turn down a chance to play chase, or hide-and-go-seek. This dragon is known to have a penchant for games, and will turn any sort of task into something fun. Why so serious? Please. Baihath has no time to be serious, and can't seem to understand or relate to his peers that are stuck up and full of frowns and drear. This will get him in trouble when he goofs off at the wrong time, or misses an important warning due to giggling over some inside joke. Though his games and good humor and cheer can be fun to be around, this white can be a bit childish.

He doesn't really want to grow up, and isn't going to be particularly responsible. Though he can and will earnestly abide orders given to him, he will be easily distracted from completing his tasks quickly, and might well forget details. But what does it matter? Getting a job mostly done is better than not finishing at all! No matter how often he's in trouble, unless his rider is on task, Baihath will always act a bit more like a weyrling than a fully-fledged dragon; consequences just don't often stick, which will be troublesome for his rider!

No matter how bleak the situation, or how much trouble they're in, Baihath will always find the silver-lining. This white is full of good cheer, and very little will bring this white down! Even in the most dire of situations, Baihath will be the optimistic. They can do it! There is nothing his rider can't do, and no challenge too great for this white... Except, perhaps, staying on task. But that's what his rider is there for, isn't it?

Trouble will follow this white wherever he goes. He doesn't usually mean to cause problems, but he just can't help himself. He finds lessons boring, so likes to spice them up however he can -- poking at this clutchsib, reading that bystander's mind, coming up with some sort of game that only makes sense to himself -- the usual things. Worse, he doesn't seem to know when to quit, thanks to his childish behavior. Requests for obnoxious behavior to end wind up going unanswered, which can cause some dragons to get mighty testy and angry. His poor rider is going to feel the brunt of it, since Baihath finds it all one good joke.

Thankfully, his beloved rider is the one person Baihath will listen to. Usually.

Positive Traits: Optimistic, Eager, Fun-Loving
Negative Traits: Distracted, Childish, Troublesome

Adult Size: 17'
Physical Attributes: Baihath has fine proprotions, and is average size for a white. He'll have decent stamina, and will enjoy having an extra-long flame. He'll make a decent edition into any wing, as he can almost keep up with the smaller greens.

Additional Notes: Baihath likes to think he's friends with all of his clutch-sibs, and will have no problem reaching out to those who wound up in different a Weyr than he. His conversations might not last long, but he does love making -- and keeping -- friends.

The Indigo & Yellow Colorful Egg A small egg in the middle.

Theme Song: Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & the Waves

Why Me? If ever there could be a more irresponsible pair, this one would be it. It's what makes Alya perfect for this big white dragon. Baihath didn't wants someone responsible, or a stick in the mud serious rider -- no, Baihath was drawn to Alya's like a bear to honey! Her sweet, dramatic, and flighty nature pairs well with his fun-loving childishness. He'll giggle over her dramatics, and encourage her to be twenty times worse. Why not? It's all in good fun, after all, and he plans on having the best damn time with Alya!

They will be unstoppable!

Rules? Who needs rules. Life is too short to be fenced in, and they should spend as much time laughing as possible.

There is hope that, between the two of them, Alya can keep Baihath from actually hurting himself, or others, due to his antics. She will have to be the responsible one, but might be able to convince her white that it's all a game. Her quick thinking should be able to stay ahead of Baihath's tricks and trouble. She is the one person he will defer to, though he might whine or sulk if it's something he really doesn't want to do. Thankfully, though, there will be more sunny days than cloudy ones for this pair. Life's a game, and Baihath is going to drag Alya out to play it!

The Hatching

Quote:
The Indigo & Yellow Colorful Egg
This small egg, close to the front, gave a little twitch, and then a little buck, pushing some sand away from it. !!! The egg itself actually began to wobble faster and faster, the being inside obviously trying hard to break free.

Quote:
The Indigo & Yellow Colorful Egg gave another big shimmy, and another big shift. Whoever was in it wanted out, that much was sure. In fact, it made such a wobble that it rolled down its little mound, but didn't go far, caught by a small dip in the sand. Out, out, out!!

Quote:
The Indigo & Yellow Egg had been rolling and wobbling and wiggling while its siblings hatched and Impressed. Out, out, out! Those near could hear scrabbling -- whoever was in it certainly was ready to hatch!

Quote:
The Indigo & Yellow Egg continued to struggle, before it lurched off its mound, and went rolling right into the Candidates. Well, it still wasn't open, but it sure was fun!

Quote:
The Indigo & Yellow Egg continued to roll. This time, aiming right for Rio and Alya!

Quote:

With each girl the Queen passed by, the more Alya became certain that she was a lucky charm--and Rio too, of course! However, the moment was interrupted as the tidy little blue from before came up to Dorianus. She gasped with delight at the sight of rainbow eyes--and all but glowed when he confirmed that they were, indeed, lucky! "Good bye!" She whispered as the pair headed towards the other newly Impressed Weyrlings...

The blue that claimed the tunnelsnake was enough to make her giggle, and it soon dissolved into croons when she realized that a beautiful little green was trying to catch everyone's eye. How adorable! She needed an audience!

And that was when she realized something was coming towards her. Coming towards her quite fast, in fact. An egg! A RUNAWAY EGG! With a squeak, Alya felt all the thoughts go out of her head. What should she do?! Should she run?! Should she jump over it like a graceful and magnificent runner?! Maybe she could--NOPE, DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, TIME TO CLING TO RIO BECAUSE THEY WERE BOTH GOING TO DIE, SO LONG, WORLD.

Quote:
"Congratulations!" Rio beamed when the blue came for Dorianus. Yes, he and Alya were excellent luck! Now, they just had to get Esfir and Ticene their dragons, and their positions as best luck charms would be solidified for all e-

And then another blue was fighting a tunnelsnake, but that turned out alright, and then...oh. Oh, dear. Runaway egg! Coming right for them! His first instinct was to grab Alya by the hand and get out of the way, but her first instinct to grab ahold and cling to him was faster. Whoch made his useless.

So, in the absence of any other option in that moment, he grabbed ahold of her in turn and tried to dive out of the way with her into the sand, twisting so that he would at least take the brunt of the fall.

Quote:

The Indigo & Yellow Egg did indeed hit Rio. It was a smaller egg, thankfully, but fairly dense. Thankfully, though, the impact was enough to both stop the egg, and to break it. With one giant shrug, an even smaller white dragon burst from its shell, scrambling atop of Rio and jumping up and down in excitement.

Eyes turned to Alya and immediately the girl was surrounded with love, assurance, and above all else, laughter.

Alya! Alya! There you are! That was sooooo much fun. Let's do it again, okay!? Please!? Pleeeeeeeeeeease? Just two more minutes, all right? I just gotta . . . get this egg . . .back together. Fix it? For your Baihath? The white turned his eyes up entreatingly at Alya, hoping that the girl would paste the thing back together, or some how make it so they could go back on a roll.

This white wasn't ready to go to dinner or eat. This white just wanted to play!

Quote:
Strong arms suddenly wrapped around her slight form, and Alya gave a soft scream of surprise when her feet were left from the ground. They hit the ground with a thump, and temporarily, she found herself winded. Her hands were curled against Rio's front, gripping at his robe quietly. He'd saved her. At risk of hurting himself. She stared up at his face with wide eyes, her heart still pounding from the adrenaline.... and maybe something more?

And then she heard her name.

Who was that? Confused, she twisted her head....and found herself falling into eyes of whirling rainbows, surrounded by love and laughter and warmth. "Baihath," She croaked, her entire face crinkling into a smile. Small tears leaked from the corners of her eyes, trailing down her cheeks. The white gave a croon of adoration, crouching on Rio's side to lean down and lick her cheeks. No, no, no! That isn't a fun game! He laughed in her mind, waiting until she'd wrapped her arms around his tiny head before pulling her into a sitting position.

"Rio," She managed to say through a tearful smile. "Come find us?" Her voice wavered querulously on the last note, and she leaned down to kiss his cheek. Then, she allowed her beautiful white boy to lead the way to the buckets of meat, prancing all the while. Hello! You all look like you're having fun! Baihath crooned, pausing to wriggle like a feline before he pounced upon the belly-up Suhrawith.

How much fun his siblings were!
