Yellowstripe and Whitefish over here! Those'll sure be tasty with some citrus, over rice, or in a lovely stew.

Vedmath was terribly intrigued by this business of fishing, to the extent that hebwas borderline excited about it; and besides that, the bronze was always more than willing to work for the good of the Weyr and those in it. It would be best, obviously, if they were able to pull through this rough patch themselves, rather than having to ask for help or send the poor Candidates home.

And being no stranger to hard work, though it had rarely involved fishing - and not in the sea - Dezerac got right to it without complaint. It was a regrettable position that they were in, and he was less than pleased with those who'd contributed to getting them into this tight spot, but Western was his home, and he'd work for it. It was a long day, and he was a little sunburned by the end of it, but he brought in a decent enough catch, one he could bring back without feeling he'd not done enough.

Fishing, on principle, was the sort of thing that Set'al should have enjoyed; it was, after all, mostly a lot of sitting around and waiting for something to bite. He had, however, always been absolutely rotten at fishing. Ever since he'd been a kid, his luck at it had been terrible, and in the Turns since he'd last tried his hand at it, nothing had changed. He thought, for one fleeting moment, that maybe it had, as it soon became apparent that he'd hooked an absolute whopper...but then he got overzealous trying to bring it in, and snapped the line.

Shards! Back on the beach, Pipith was torn between laughing at him and being cross. It wouldn't look good that they'd be coming back with nothing!

A good mix of some yellowfin and redstripes! Yum, yum, yum!

Tairos had never fished in his life. His mother was a Baker, for Faranth's sake, and he was a Courtesan! But he was willing to try, even if it was all utterly unfamiliar. How hard could it really be? Harder than it seemed on paper, really, as at first he had a few mishaps, but fortunately there was no one around to see but Remarenth. He did get the hang of it eventually, and soon enough he was bringing in one fish after another...and that was when it started to really get enjoyable! He was almost reluctant to head back in when it was time, but they still had other duties to tend to, and at least they got to return successful and proud of themselves!

Iolseger wasn't at all sure about fishing - oh, he wanted to help, but he'd fished all of a handful of times in his life, all as a child and all on an icy lake. But in the ocean? On a little floating dock? That was very new, and as it turned out, he had good reason to be unsure, because he totally managed to muck it all up. When he finally got a bite, he reacted too strongly, and snapped his line. Well, he would have had a big fish...if he hadn't screwed up.

Sigh.

Sharding fishing. Sharding fish. Khazine didn't even like fish! Worse, she absolutely hated sitting on this stupid dock, waiting for something to happen. What a boring waste of time! The brownrider stewed over the task while she waited for something to bite, and when something finally did, she was in too much of a hurry to bring it in: she pulled too hard, too fast, and snapped her line. So much for that!

Sharding fish.

Teohe had no objections to the added workload, although fishing was entirely new to her, and she was almost guaranteed to get a sunburn out of it. Tiossith promised to do his best to shade her with his wings as much as possible, but as she was busy readying her net, he noticed something scuttle past...and then more somethings! Mine, look! he called, alerting her to the spiderclaw situation.

The young bluerider rushed to gather as many as she could, and though she endured no few pinches for her trouble, the spiderclaws would be good eating later!

While hunting the beach, you you find a newly hatched baby firelizard! The hungry being demands tribute, and you have no choice but to give in! Thankfully, you have a few snacks stashed to ensure this little flit doesn't go hungry. Well, this is an unexpected surprise... Roll a D20 to see what color, and Quote Uta! (You can only win this once per character. If you roll it on a character who has already Impressed, they simply find shells from an already hatched clutch instead.)

18-19. Bronze

Fishing!! Tierboskath, for obvious reasons, was very excited about the addition to their schedule...which was saying aomething for him! But the blue had always loved water, and had been borderline obsessed with fish since his Hatching Feast, so this was extra work he could really get behind. Maybe if they caught a deepfish, they'd let him have some as a reward? Maybe?

As it turned out, however, they never quite got to fishing today - there were some shellfish to be scavenged along this particular stretch of beach, which meant all Tierboskath really had to do was lounge in the water. While Rio busied himself with collecting anything edible he could find, someone else took some interest in what he was up to...or, more specifically, what was in the sack he was carrying. A tiny, newly-hatched bronze scurried up to him, and crawled cheeping up his leg, demanding to be fed.

Give him one of those yummy things! Give!! Give!!!

Laughing, Rio pulled a carefully-wrapped piece of jerky from his pocket that he'd been saving to snack on, and split it with the little fellow.

Uta
a flooter discovery!

Lots of fish and a variety, too! Packtail, silverfish, bluefish, and even a few spiderclaws! Tasty, tasty!

While Allia was no stranger to fishing in lakes, fishing in the sea was a bit different, and besides that, the idea of fishing to feed the Weyr was quite daunting. What if she didn't bring anything back? What if, even all together, they couldn't bring enough back? What then? They might have to ask for help, or send the Candidates home! Somnuth soothed her concerns as best he could, letting his own quiet calm wash over he; rather than a dock, she was using him as a floating platform to cast a net off of, and as it turned out, it worked surprisingly well for them.

By the time all was said and done, they'd brought in quite the haul, and there were even some spiderclaws! Maybe they could make this work after all.

Riders with XP points add 5 points to their total.

Fishing!! This was going to be so much fun! Adi was bouncingly happy about this new project, even if it did cut into their free time and the reasons for it were very much not happy ones. It was something she genuinely liked to do, and it would be helping! Fishing with a net was a lot different than fishing with a pole like she was used to, but she was delighted to learn something new, and took to it well enough.

Once she was pretty sure she had a full net, she moved to haul it in...only for a huge wave to come her way! Luckily, she had Mazamath to brace against, and didn't lose the haul of delicious packtails.
