Dascyana

Listening as Sablie spoke, Dascyana let her attention move towards the eggs. A couple of them were starting to move now and there was an undercurrent of excitement in the air all around them. "It always seems like they go by so fast. I wonder how the parents feel." Blue eyes moved to look at where Kleoth was before her attention was drawn back towards the wiggling eggs.

The sound of a crack had her undivided attention soon and she lightly elbowed Sablie as she motioned over to the Purple and Orange Dapple Egg. "Looks like someone has started to try and break out. Can you make out what color the dragonet might be?"

Mhinadi

Mhinadi was watching that little egg with the claw poking out with amusement, and thinking encouraging thoughts in its direction. It would get out. It had already made a great start.

And then thee penguiin egg exploded with bits of shell going every which way and she couldn't help but flinch and clap a hand over her mouth to muffle a yelp. No need to spook an already upset dragonet with other weird noises. Still, it was one heck of an entrance.

Amd probably going to scare Oreune. At that thought, Mhinadi shot a hand out and caught one of Oreune's. "We're fine," she breathed to the other girl. "We're not in trouble."

{i]They weren't, but the first brown might be, with his littler brother suddenly leaping on him in a rage. Oh dear. Mhinadi took a half step back, tugging Oreune with her. "We're not in trouble." she repeated, but she would certainly watch the fighting brothers with a wary eye.

Ollandin

Ollandin was wide awake and bright eyed now, taking note of all the rocking and rolling eggs even before the first claw appeared. Now, with a pair of browns fighting over ... who knew what, really? Yes, he was well and truly wide awake.

And maybe feeling a little exposed, since he hadn't tucked himself particularly close to any other Candidate. He took his eyes off the dragons only briefly, long enough to spot Papys and decide that maybe together was better. He shifted over slowly until he stood next to the other boy. "Hey," he offered quietly. "Looks like it's going to be an exciting day, huh?"

Sioryl

Sioryl glanced up at Valendyr as the other Candidate stood beside him, a grin on his face that was so wide it was starting to make his cheeks hurt. The question made him laugh even as he wrapped his arms around himself in a tight hug, trying to contain his feelings.

"I am holding up so all right," he said, his voice shaking slightly from how excited he was. A moment later and another new Candidate sidled up beside him, the energy coming off him making Sioryl's heighten. Someone else that was just as excited!

"It's happening so fast," he agreed, and before he could say or do anything else, one of the eggs exploded. He turned to face the new dragon - a glorious brown - and that about did it.

"O-oh..." Words failed the young man and finally his emotions burst through in the form of very happy tears. He sniffled and wiped at his face with his sleeve, trying to contain himself, but he just couldn't! And then there was another one! Another brown! Even though they seemed to be at odds the two dragons were so beautiful and he couldn't do anything other than stare in awe, cheeks wet with more overjoyed tears.

Surel

And here we go. Surel took another deep breath and let it out through her nose after the Emperor Penguin Egg made himself known, followed shortly by the Purple and Orange Dapple Egg. Both were browns and they were not at all concerned with the Candidates at the moment, more interested in jousting with one another at the moment. What a way to start.

The Teal and Blue Lightning Egg had begun to tentatively wiggle. As soon as it sensed the impending violence, the egg still once more.

But another egg was not so cowed. Bone Egg gave a restless twitch, and flopped over onto its other side. It seemed to regard the entire situation with a deep sense of ... boredom.

Anneke and green Uluth

"If all of the Candidates were sleeping solidly through the night, someone somewhere didn't explain enough about dragons to get them really excited," Anneke answered. She'd been a rider for a while now, and she didn't sleep well when she the eggs were close to hatching. "We're green fans. No surprise there, but I don't waste my mrks betting on anything. I just wait and see." And tolerate the overexcited bleatings of her partner.

As the eggs began to crack and, well, explode, Anneke grinned a little wider at sSorentia. "Grumpy might have been the tame word for what they are."

Well--well, hold on just a minute, there! They were fighting out there? The Purple Spotted Dinosaur Egg begins rocking once more, although there's a few cracks starting to spiderweb across its surface from the assault. From within, there's a muffled bugle, accompanied by a wave of concern...and something bordering on frustration that it was less efficient at filtering out. They'd been hatched for barely any time at all, and they were already getting into brawls? How come it was still in there when they were getting all the attention, but only using it for this?

After another bugle to try and distract its brothers, the egg tries to project its thoughts as far as it can, still working against the shell that contained it all the while. Siblings, please, stop that! Don't you make it come out of here, or it--it'll do something! Just you watch--it absolutely will!

Odellet

Odd woke to noise, the candidate master calling out, her green flits humming cheerfully, leaving a light vibration in her chest. She grumbled, scrubbing her eyes and changed clothing. Light sandals and robe, her hair neat enough. She nodded to Kleoth, looking over the eggs, mostly the cluster next to Starry. So she was aware when Emperor suddenly hatched.

Violently, like an explosion of egg shells and goop and one fierce and handsome brown dragon. A handsome fellow and shortly after a second though smaller but no less handsome brown had hatched and they were fighting.

Well, she hadn't expected that to happen so soon.

Sablie (She/her)

Sablie heard the familiar mind voice of a certain green in her mind and she allowed her eyes to drift back up to where it was coming from. She smiled as she sent a mental thank you to the green, before giving a wave to both of them. She was glad to see them both, honestly she might have missed them had Guarath not reached out to her. She heard the good luck, but she was puzzled about the rest of what the green did not say out loud. What more than good luck did Lyfrocier want to tell her?

Tell him thank you, I only hope to impress this time. I will definitely see him after the hatching, no matter how this turns out. It would be my pleasure to have a dragon as wonderful as you, Guarath, the mind healer thought, hoping the green would pick up on it. She didn't know what color she might impress, knowing that as a girl, she could impress anything from a gold to a white...she just couldn't impress a bronze. Her blue eyes returned to the sands in time to see more of the eggs beginning to move, purple spotted and grey starry starting to vibrate with life.

"I imagine it is both a beautiful moment, but sad one at the same time for the parents. Beautiful because they get to see their babies impress, sad because they have to let them go in a way. And nope, can't tell color for the claw sticking out, not enough of the baby dragon is showing yet,"Sablie answered her friend. She noticed some eager wiggling from teal rosette, seemed someone was anxious to get out. Then came the explosion of the emperor penguin egg, as a very irritated brown emerged. She felt a bit of the egg goop get on her, but she wasn't disturbed by it at all. Well, if someone wanted all eyes on him, he surely must have accomplished that. She had her eyes on him, at least, though did notice movement from red patterned egg. Then more from grey starry, who seemed ready to come out too, from the look of it.

"I think ya just got your answer about color of the occupant of that egg. It seems it was brown,"Sablie commented to Dascyana. It seemed the browns might get into it, which caused her to hold her breath. She hoped they knew how handsome they both were, they knew that...right? They both commanded attention, there was no doubt about it. She did notice green spiderweb moved a little, but seemed to wait. She also noticed lightning, one of the eggs she had touched (actually had been with a lot of the touching) and bone eggs move. Bone seemed...bored and lightning seemed not sure about coming out. She sent a gentle thought that it was going to be okay, figuring it wouldn't hear her anyway, but hoped the thought counted. Purple spotted began moving again, seemed more with a purpose this time..could it sense its siblings about to fight?

Edalla and Green Moilath

Edalla had been sleeping peacefully in her bed that she didn't have to share, when she felt Moilath's gentle nudging of her mind...along with humming. She knew her green, she knew she wanted to go see the new babies being hatched. As much as she was tempted just to stay in bed, she knew Moilath would prod until she got up. So she climbed out of bed and got herself dressed, before heading out to the ledge where the green waited. Then she climbed on her back, allowing her to take them down to the hatching sands. Once there, she climbed off and went to sit with Sorentia quietly. She didn't say anything, even when Anneke came over, though she did incline her head in greeting to her fellow green rider. She kept her eyes watching as the action seemed to be happening down below, with eggs beginning to rock and move.

Meanwhile, Moilath had looked for the golden hide she was loyal to. It didn't take her long to find Riamsoth and she flew over to lay down gracefully next to her. She was glad she had somewhere to go at all times, even when her rider was busy. That and not being alone while watching babies was something that made the green happy.

I hope you don't mind the company, Riamsoth, came her gentle voice.

Savindri

Hoo boy, it was early!  Still, while Savindri was not among the very first to stir, once it finally clicked in his brain what was going on - thank you, Zinath! - he was up and alert in moments, and rushed to get himself ready and to the Sands.  Despite his excitement, however, he still listened carefully to what A'ral had to say, tucking every word into his mind.  It was all very similar to what had been said previously, but it didn't hurt to re-emphasize it to himself.

Once they were permitted to do so, he filed onto the Sands with his fellow Candidates, and ultimately shouldered amiably into one in particular. "Morning, Haraven!" he greeted cheerfully, draping an arm around the other boy without a moment's thought. "Good day for a Hatching, yeah?"

He would have gone on to ask what egg Haraven thought would hatch first, but he didn't get a chance - two hatched in quick succession, and he marveled at them in spite of what might have been brewing irritation between them, and simply observed, "Oh, browns!"

Nyviane - she/her

Nyviane had prepared herself, as much as one could, for the fact that the eggs could hatch at any time - middle of the day, middle of the night, whenever they wanted.  Out of the possibilities, early morning actually wasn't all that bad; but then, she tended to be an early riser anyway.  When she woke, she rose from her cot and set to getting herself ready, and was quick and efficient about it without cutting any corners.  And she stayed just as composed all the way to the Sands, where she took her place after the Candidatemaster had said his piece.

She could see friends pairing off and little groups forming, but made no move to do the same herself.  Her focus was on the eggs, and the dragonets starting to emerge.

Tihrokat

It.  Was.  Time!  Tihrokat usually had trouble waking up, especially at early hours, but this morning was an exception.  The eggs were hatching!!  He got himself ready quick as could be, robes and sandals on, and ruffled his hair more-or-less into order as he made a beeline for the hatching grounds.  It was hard to stay still and listen to A'ral, but he did nonetheless, doing his best to absorb it all before they were released onto the Sands.

By happenstance, he found himself next to Matotoka, whom he'd made friends with (at least in his view of things) while touching a friendly egg with him.  They'd also had chores together a couple of times since then, so...definitely a friend! "Hi," he said breathlessly, shifting from foot to foot as much because it was hard to stay still as because it was hot.

And then baby dragons started to hatch!  Hello, baby dragons!

Pipith

Pipith had always been an early riser; he'd practically tormented His with it in their first Turn, though for the most part these days he let Set'al sleep at least a little later than he did.  After all, there wasn't usually any real need for his rider to be up before the sun, so with time the bronze had let go of his preoccupation with making sure they were up and at their day no later than sunrise.  Still, he did always make sure he was up in time for whatever their schedule held for the day, as Pipith would never relax enough to tolerate lateness.

While he awaited the proper hour to awake his bonded, Pipith lay stretched out on the beach, letting the waves lap at him, but his idle morning was interrupted by Kleoth's summons.  He practically leapt to his feet, eyes whirling with deep blues and purples, and heaved his bulk into the air that he might take up the ledge he favored from which to gaze upon his children.  Finally, soon now, he would get to meet them.  He'd been more than willing to accomodate Kleoth and bow to her preferences, but was far from a disinterested parent - he'd just been limited to brief gazes and oft-wordless affection, as he had tread both carefully and respectfully all this time, never wanting to intrude or overstay in any way.

As he settled, before the rush of others arrived, the rugged little bronze bowed his head to Kleoth and sent the eggs - wiggling and not - a wave of gentle affection, pride, and encouragement.

His, meanwhile, would be walking his way to the Stands once he was presentable. Sorry-not-sorry, but Pipith was not waiting on you today, Set'al.

Hanging with Natiri

Lafyrra

With the humming and A'ral to wake them, who needed an alarm clock? Not Fyfy, that was for sure! She changed, giddy grin splitting her face, and threaded a colourful ribbon into the tail of her plait. Grey Starry Egg would surely remember, right? She joined Natiri as candidates filed out of the barracks, glued to his side.

All grinning, eyes flashing with unbridled euphoriap, she bowed to Kleoth as they entered. It seemed the eggs were not taking the time, with a few already set to make their early morning debut. She didn't know where to fix her attention.

But things were taking a dark turn once Emperor Penguin beat Purple and Orange Dapple to the punch. As the second brown hatched, Lafyrra did a small bow for the dragonets, hoping to defuse the tension. She remembered how upset it had been at the Touching that nobody had showed it deference. "It's okay little one. You're just as regal and handsome as ever, no matter when you hatch." She tried to voice her thoughts whilst also projecting them towards the siblings. She wouldn't necessarily be heard, and she knew interfering was bad, but she couldn't do nothing. With Natiri by her side, she wasn't afraid either (like she had been when Grey Starry Egg had felt abandoned).

Zaexillia

Zae composed herself as she woke to the sound of gentle humming. She could feel it in the depths of her very own body, a catalyst for a powerful wave of excitement and a lingering spray of hope. Deft hands made quick work of changing, and on this rare occasion she tied her hair away from her face (surely the dragons would prefer to see whom they Impressed). She joined the group of hopeful youths, her face kept neutral despite the intense desire to smile the happiness out.

The sands were hot- the footwear was I'll-designed, and she swayed from one foot to the other to keep the discomfort at bay. She stood a little apart from others, but near Odellet, silent save for a nod of acknowledgement.

Which egg would hatch first? Zae was impressed by their enthusiasm- and certain Purple and Orange Dapple would emerge soon. Emperor Penguin surprised her, and a rather perfect brown stood where the black and white shell once had been. That didn't seem to sit well with the former, who hatched in an angry effort of talons and limbs. She gritted her teeth, hoping they wouldn't draw too much ichor. Poor things.

Shaddaling
Zae is chilling near Odellet, but she's a bit quiet!

Teohe and blue Tiossith

Ho-hum, another Hatching. Tiossith really didn't understand all the fuss, quite frankly, or at least the expected fuss. Yes, little babies, the future of Pern, all well and good, but the hubbub seemed, to him at least, rather excessive, outside of Candidates and relatives and so on. Of course, he hadn't found it excessive when he'd hatched, but that was different. Naturally.

After depositing His to climb into the Stands, the dark blue took up a ledge from which to casually observe. Oh, and- Sigh. Fine. Best of luck to you today, Haraven, he sent to a certain Candidate that His favored. He was generally not the type to speak to humans other than His own without good reason, but since Teohe wanted him to, then so be it. He was, privately, a little bit vexed that it was a mere Candidate she favored so, though he was at least the son of the Weyrman. So there was a hint of potential there, though Tiossith would remain unconvinced unless and until he Impressed. And then...he'd think about it.

While Emperor Penguin and Purple & Orange Dapple were busy making a scene for themselves, the Cracked Egg Egg split quietly into several large pieces, the result of the dragonet within having worked to carefully and quietly extract itself while the false cracks in its shell made it hard to tell that there were any real ones right up until it fell apart. A pale green stepped out from the remains and, sparing not a single glance for her brown brothers, began to groom herself.

As she cleaned off bits of goo and shell, there was a look of thinly-veiled disgust on her face, though it had nothing to do with the goop. No, it was an expression that spoke volumes about a certain subject, that anyone who'd ever harbored similar thoughts might well recognize.

Boys.

Haraven
The voice surprised him--and it took him a moment of glancing around wildly to realize exactly who was speaking to him. He didn't know Tiossith well, at least not like he was familiar with A'ral's Zinath, or R'mor's Junenth, but he had met the young blue briefly during his time spent with Teohe. Thank you! He thought as loudly as he dared to the blue, wherever he might be perched. Please tell Teohe I said hello if... if it's no trouble, that is! Whether the blue did or didn't was up to the dragon. He hoped, oh so hoped, he might finally meet his because unbeknownst to Haraven, Tiossith's feelings were similar to his own! He did want to Impress to be a capable fighter... but also because it did seem odd when he was dating a full-fledged rider!

Ah, but there wasn't much time to let his thoughts drift.

One minute there were eggs wiggling, and a single claw peaking out of an egg, and the next there was not one, but two brown dragonets! When the smaller one pounced the other, Haraven did immediately straighten. Best to be on guard, after all, since things could get dicey quickly! They were both gorgeous, fierce, and strong--but he hoped the fighting wouldn't last. Savindri's approach--and arm drape--surprised him but wasn't unwanted. He offered him a smile. "A great morning for one! And already two browns--and even a green!" He pointed over to the Cracked Egg Green, who was looking quite over it all, already.

"Which one do you think will hatch next?" While he knew their focus was meant to be on the dragonets and the eggs, there wasn't much they could do until the babies started seeking out Theirs.

If he did keep an eye on those battling browns, it was hard not to. Their focus was on one another, but that didn't mean it would remain so. He noticed Surel not too far from them--and while he didn't think she needed any protection, he had always been a bit of a knightly sort. Maybe he'd keep an eye on her just in case. And if he moved Savindri and him just a few steps closer, it was simply all that shifting from foot to foot on the scalding sands.

The Emperor Penguin Brown seemed surprised when his clutchmate attacked him--but with eyes whirling red, he was ready to fight! He was no push over, after all. Insolent fool, how dare you attack me! Who do you think you are? That you couldn't free yourself immediately is your own problem, yet here you are, blaming others for your own shortcomings! The brown baby clawed and bit where he could. He was not looking to seriously injure his brother--but he did very much want to show him who he was dealing with and why it had been a mistake to instigate such a battle!

This was his moment, now so spoiled by a whining brother. Feh!
