This is vastly wrong, and it is obvious that she did not read the books. ^^;;
Spoiler alert:
!Lyra kills a false god who wishes to be put out of his misery. He is being kept alive against his will.!
Anyways, I find that the "god" aspect of the books is small when you compare it to the grand philosophical themes presented in them.<3

It looks so awesome, but I can't see it because my parents worry; the author of the books has said that the point of the books is to show people that following God is bad.

He is a pronounced atheist, yes...but the Magisterium is about corrupt power -- be they religious or not -- and how following that bad power is wrong.<3

you can tell if they dont pay enough attention to the book
like in eragon
but in the golden compass

It's only referenced as a golden compass once. ^^

The movie Eragon was absolutely terrible. gonk
This one was actually good, so any comparison does no justice. xD!!
There is a lot of attention paid to the book, but some things did have to get cut (the movie was over 2 hours...they couldn't put everything)

I'm a heavy advocate for this movie. xD
I really want the next two to be made. >

I'd really like to See The Golden compass. I have never read the book, but i will probably end up reading the book before i watch the movie anyway. im probably not going to see it in Theaters, so i'll watch it when it comes out on DvD and that'll give me time to read the book.

The Golden Compass is a terrible movie. The book, well, its okay, but its underlying themes are a little weak and its way too obvious that the author is an athiest. I almost hate Lyra, because she is such a snotty little brat of pure ego. I started reading the second one, and the way she acts all high and mighty just disgusts me.

I read the book before watching the movie. I knew they were going to be very different, but it still made me angry that they were different. I was surprised that they kept the part where the bear's jaw gets ripped off, though. haha.

Are they going to make the other ones in the series? I can't see how they would with all of the religion stuff they kept out of it.
