Thank you for this information I always saw people talking about it on forums but I had no idea what they were talking about. I never got into it because my way of training has always worked for me. This is a great help to me and I'll use it to train for other battles.

you know what? forget my previous post i deleted it. I have much more terrible news actually 2 of them.
EV's are only obtained IF you also get Exp. for the battle. lets go to examples, the same rayquaza mentioned before is at lvl 100, meaning it doesnt get and exp. if i reduce its EV's with the berries (Pomeg, Kelpsy and whatnot.) they are reduced permenantly, althought if i reduced to 0 i could put them in again using vitamins (Protein, Iron and so on). but heres were the plot thickens: Vitamins can only add 100 EV's at any given stat. meaning: if i clear the EV's of a lvl 100 with the aforementinoned berrys and re-train using vitamins i will only get no more than 100 EV in each stat. very balanced, yes, but not a winning strategy.
and another thing, about the Pokérus virus. You can infect a pokémon with it IF you battle and defeat a wild pkmn that has it (chances of that happening are pretty close to the chances of you getting a shiny). Your battler will be infected and for each battle you fight with an infected in your team, the virus will have a chance to spread to the others in your team (its not a 100% chance, so it might take a few battles). thats all well and good, but, no good thing lasts forever. after the passing of a day (the passing of 23:59 to 00:00) the virus will become a part of the pokemon it infected. What does that mean? Well, the good news is: the EV doubling effect will still be active. The bad news is that, it wont spread anymore. You can check if the virus as "merged" with the pokemon by checking its stats: In G/S/C versions, a small dot will apear over the left side of the HP bar of the pokemon in the stats screen In R/S/E versions, the same small dot apears on the right side of the poké ball used to capture the pokemon wile your in the summary screen In D/P/Pt (and possibly HG/SS), a little yellows smilley like this ( neutral ) will apear on the right side of the bottom-right corner of the pokemon portrait wile your in the summary screen.
the best way to prevent your Pokérus from permenantly disapearing from your game is to place a pokemon with it still active (small purple PKRS status block on summary) in the pc. In there, the day can pass as it normaly would but the virus remains intact. Some pokemon you never use like a showcased legendary, or a magikarp rofl . Well, that, as they say, is that. Hope it helped 3nodding

a rare candy adds no evs so it just raises the stats like the base stat

so rare candies are BAD for pokemon? (if your EV training that is) ive read that a pokemon couldnt get anymore EVs if they are already at lv 100...
ive also read that if you kill pokemon for their EVs, then put them in the pokemon storage comp, the EVs then appear on their stats.
so if my pokemon gets a bunch of rare candies, leaving them full for EV pts, would i still be able to EV train?

rare candies should be used for the level up phase of training, ie after gaining the effort ribbon.
