❀❀❀ REHOMING ENTRY! Username : Uta Which One? : Boy 1 Lunarian Name : Xue'jing Alliance : Noble. Path : Soul Conduit Personality :
The first thing people tend to notice most about Xue'jing, is to not notice him at all. He possesses an unassuming attitude and a terribly quiet and contemplative aura. One might go so far as to call him a wallflower, sticking to the background so as to allow brighter stars to shine. This isn't to say that Xue'jing doesn't shine, but when it comes to social settings, he finds himself at a loss.
Introverted, thoughtful, the young Xue'jing originally was too overwhelmed by the stimulation of the outside world and the Academy to find much of a voice. It was all so terribly different from his sheltered upbringing, and yet amazingly wonderful all the same! People were everywhere, and the stimulation of social interaction was both a refreshing change, but ever so draining on his spirit.
Due to his more isolated life as a boy, he could be considered socially awkward. While he has a great appreciation for art, for music, and of course the convictions he holds dear, when it comes to large groups he is a bit uneasy. Subtly and tact isn't something he learned as a boy, and reading social cues is also something lost on him at this age. Why are they laughing? Are they laughing at him or . . . something else? What is this joke they speak of, he clearly didn't pick up the punch line. Why is calling out his professor in front of the class wrong? Clearly he was misinformed on this particular subject. . . why is that such a bad thing?
Needless to say, the young boy has a lot to learn in the art of a social lifestyle. What's even worse is that the young Xue'jing is terribly proud.
Does no one here know who he is?
He was raised on the belief that he could and would do great things as he grew. Unfortunately, he believes this. Failure isn't an option, and certainly isn't going to be something he has to stumble upon. He is proud of his intelligence, proud of his family and its noble lineage, add to his self-assured nature the young Xue'jing takes great pride in himself.
There is no better, after all.
His peacock nature has and will land him in to trouble with others. Not only does he truly believe in himself, but he expects everyone else to do the same. Confidence in this case is a double edged sword. He is rarely afraid to tackle difficulties, but also tends to keep said confidence even when he's in the wrong or has made the mistake. It is a weakness that blinds him at this age, especially when coupled with his great sense of pride. He believes he is the man for the job all the time, regardless of what that job might consist of . . . He will do it, damnit, and do it right the first time.
Xue'jing is not the most social of individuals. Not only is it awkward to spend too much time in a group of strangers, or even too much time around friend, but he prefers to keep his nose in his studies. There are books to read, knowledge to obtain, and things to be done. Learning at the Academy is something he will only get one shot at, and is something he expects to get right. This means he doesn't often choose play-time over work-time. His studies get his attention, and the course work required of him. Fun is . . . secondary, even tertiary to work and more work. If there are tasks to be done, his nature demands he complete the tasks. Ever the workaholic, it is difficult to convince Xue'jing to focus on anything else, especially if his tasks aren't complete.
Thankfully though, this has lead to some more positive influences. Being surrounded by so many books and 'gentler' studies as a young boy has created a very intelligent young man. He is book smart as opposed to street smart, but it serves him well. He is like a sponge when it comes to knowledge and information, and had he been inclined to wield a sword, may have grown in to a great tactician. As it is, he detests physical battle, and would much rather focus on changing the world by going about it a different route.
Furthermore, once Xue'jing is on task, he is diligent in his duties. This pertains mostly to his studies and school work, but can be applied to any aspect of his life. Should a friend request something of him, he will follow it through to the very end. Should he make a goal put forth effort in to some plan, Xue'jing is the man to make sure it gets done. If you want the floor swept, he will sweep it until it absolutely sparkles! Regardless what it takes, he will meet that deadline.
Last but not least, despite his series of short comings in personality, as well as his serious nature when it comes to work and duties, Xue'jing is loyal. While he perhaps isn't the sort to get terribly buddy-buddy with someone, friendship with others is something he lacked as a young boy. It is something he desperately wants, and will likely latch on to the first few individuals he meets (and gets along with to some degree) while at the Academy.
Once he finds said friends, he will keep them close and near and dear to his heart. Betrayal is not something he would ever consider them capable of at this age, and is certainly something he would never do. Whatever they need, he'll be there - he won't let them down.
History : Xui'jing was raised in a fairly normal background. There was and is no trauma that colors his world, no angst that hangs over his head like a cloud, no real complaints that he would ever voice. Xue'jing was their only child after a series of miscarriages and troubled pregnancies, and would quite likely be their only child. Because of this, his parents treated him as a revered jewel - something to be admired and well loved, but also something to fragile and carefully guarded.
While Xue'jing would never doubt he was loved, his family was far form being physically affectionate. Even as a babe, he was wrapped up in layers of cloth and only held or played with by his parents for only so much time during the day. They didn't want to risk giving him infection or illness, and certainly didn't dare bringing him outside lest he catch cold. Even the servants of the house were under strict order in their dealings with the young Xue'jing. His parents would suffer no less.
So it was, Xue'jing grew up in a bit of a sterile environment. He wasn't often allowed to play with others his age, much less spend time out directly in the sun. His parents made sure he lacked in nothing - toys, games, clothing - but they never quite grew out of their fear of losing their beloved child. While their intentions for him were in the right place, in the end, he suffered from his isolated environment.
His parents refused to transform him in to some sort of garrish child. His lack of exposure to the elements, to the outside world, to basic infection has left him physically weaker then most boys his age, and with an immune system that is easier compromised. As a young boy, he was prone to illness and sniffles (which only encouraged his family to keep him more isolated), so physical activities were often put on hold and gentler tasks, such as art, music, and book reading were encouraged. Books were, for a good portion of his youth, some of his only friends.
Xue'jing would never utter ill-will against his childhood environment, mostly because he believes this is what every noble went through at this age. He never lacked in love, though as he grew, his parents became more strict about his studies. He was well taught in his studies, and raised with the promise that someday he would change the world, that life wouldn't always be the way it was now. They spoke openly about politics, their views not at all a secret, their discontent coloring little Xue'jing's world.
"Change doesn't always require a physical weapon," he was taught and reminded. "Words are as deadly as any sword, reputation as important as any barrier." This is something Xue'jing truly believes and holds dear to him, especially now that the country is indeed in war. What he lacks in size and strength alone, he makes up with character, intelligence, and dedication to the cause of reform.
Most recently, it was decided that Xue'jing would be allowed to received a more formal Academy training. His parents deliberated with one another for months, his mother claiming it far too dangerous to allow him such exposure, and his father retaliating that it was time he finally took a stand. While he was their precious jewel, their shield had to be removed. If they didn't allow him this opportunity, they would be nothing more than hypocrites to the change they wished to seek.
So it was, Xue'jing was enrolled, and for the first time in his young life, was expected to stand on his own two feet and hold his own. There was an entire world out there to discover, and not just by reading about it in books. Prompt :
He hadn't been paying attention. While he would never be caught dead admitting that to someone else, deep down, Xue'jing knew he had been caught up in all the colors and movement of that mornings marketplace. Though he had always been a bit intimidated by the large swath of people going about their daily business, the vendors hawking their wares, the children running rampant underfoot, it was also terribly fascinating.
It was moments like this, away from the comfort of his room, from his companion books, that Xue'jing felt most out of place in the world. How far from home he had gone, and how different a world he now lived. The Academy had caused the blue haired lad to suffer a touch of culture-shock upon his first arrival, but it was an adjustment he had been forced to make. Going to market every week though was something he had never quite gotten over. . . .
Every week there were new faces, new people, new colors, new sights and smells to appreciate. The wonder of it all had yet to lose its allure on Xue'jing, which is why he made for a prime suspect at this very moment. Torn out of his quiet fascination, the young man was practically hurled to the side with force. What he had thought originally was some attack, turned out to be nothing more than a tiny child frantically searching through one of his dropped bags!
The young boy - or perhaps it was a girl? It was awfully hard to distinguish between the mop of hair and dirt - was making no qualms about fishing through the days groceries. "Hey!" The objection came out before he had a chance to silence it. It was the first time he'd been robbed, and certainly the first encounter with something so dismally poor.
Unfortunately, Xue'jing didn't have an opportunity to stop and speak to the child. His objection alone was enough to cause the young urchin to look up, eyes wide and frantic, only to disappear in a wave of people, orange in hand.
Everything had happened so quickly, so fast, that the blue haired lad could only stare at the now empty spot where the thief had been. His face had been stained, but his eyes had been clear - fear had been the primary emotion, but something else had been there too. Defiance? No . . . Desperation.
The young lad had been starving. He needed a meal, and thievery was his only option. Xue'jing quietly picked up the rest of his wares, though his thoughts were far from the marketplace. On the one hand, he had to wonder what happened to the childs family. Was there no one to look after him? Was there no one to provide? Obviously not . . . Was it disease that had left him homeless? Neglect? Was it the war. . .? Though he had learned of poverty, of those 'less fortunate' thanks to books, seeing it first hand was something else entirely.
Unfortunately, Xue'jing's concern over the starving lad were soon replaced by the knowledge he'd been had. For while he didn't lose more than fruit from his packages, the small money-pouch that had been attached to his belt was now missing. Completely, and utterly gone. Swiped. The little street rat had been distracting enough to allow someone else to get away with his left over money!
Any sympathy he felt for the plight of the young boy was replaced by complete and utter aggravation. How dare they target him! Did they not know who he was!? Did they not know what he could have done to them!?! And what if word got back to his friends. . . He'd be laughed at for weeks, or worse, looked upon as incompetent and irresponsible! A moments panic struck his stomach, all sympathy for the little brat replaced by irritation. Clinging tight to his packages, a scowl on his features, the blue haired lad came to the conclusion that his books were far safer than this wretched place.
Glancing around, Xue'jing wanted to exclaim that he'd just been the victim of ruthless thievery, and yet, all he saw were strangers. No one had even bothered to help him pick up the fallen bags and merchendise, much less seemed to pay him any sort of heed one way or another. He was, at this moment, a complete and utter nobody. He had no reputation, he had no voice or name. . . . He was so low on the totem pole that even little street brats would dare lay a hand on him.
This . . .was not good. Not for his pride, not for his dreams, or his goals. While he hated the fact that he'd been stolen from, while his pride was wounded that he hadn't paid more attention to his whereabouts, what hurt worse was the fact that he really was lost among a sea of color. He was just a student, just another boy going about his day.
Damnit.
This proved just how far away he was from obtaining his dreams. Social change, revolution, it couldn't happen if he was a nobody. There was work to be done, and he'd have to crack down even harder in his studies if he wished. It was sad it took a stupid, starving, street-brat to come to such a realization. . . to come to the reality of his place in this world.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=16321485#197091967 (Ocala and Galahad Name of Soquili and Link to Image: Kaiya Link to Teepee: Teepee Do you remember when your Soquili first maxed out? Summer of 2010 or 2011. I'm pretty sure it was 2010 though, cause she's been maxed for awhile now. Links to RP(s) that show how the Soquili has grown over time, proving his or her development into an Elder:
((These are not ALL of her RPs, but ones that I find to be important on some level or another, or used as proof to show growth or life changes.
Also, please be aware that Kaiya and her brother Shyam were created before RP Managers and some more rules. I gave Kaiya two powers back in the day -- an ability to sense who MIGHT have a conflicted spirit, and a very minor healing ability. If only because she was CONSTANTLY battling not-so-nice sorts. It is not as strong as a uni-angeni, just a little something to help in jams.
Back in the day it was stated Shyam was once a fallen angeni -- I have, to conform with the new rules and powers, switched it so he was always a mutant angeni, never domained, and was an adopted sibling. Hence his . . evil ways. I didn't edit my old RPs, so if you see some discrepancies, just know that future RPs will reflect these changes.))
1. Winds Chatter This is one of Kaiya's very first RPs. She meets a kalona mare, Pascale, and you get an idea of her lifestyle, of her thoughts, and her personality. Kaiya is young at this point, without much experience in the Kawani lands. In it she mentions life, her path, her choice to walk and save the damned, and how much she hopes she may SOMEDAY be out of a job. She is young and still a bit naive.
2. Kindred Spirits This is an RP where Kaiya, still new to the land, meets a particularly disturbed individual. Styx the kelpie is a little bit difficult to approach and Kaiya has to come up with a new tactic to reach out to him, to make sure he's all right. In addition to this, they come across a fire, and Kaiya doesn't hesitate to help where she can. This RP shows proof of her dedication to others, even in sticky or odd situations.
3. This Isn't Normal In this RP, once again, Kaiya meets a very skittish and abused mare. Rynia has lived a life full of fear and discouragement, and Kaiya wants nothing more than to reach out and help. While she is used to trying to save and redeem those who are threats to others and aggressive, in this case, she desires to save a soul that is far from harmful. Unfortunately, it doesn't end exactly as she wishes and she learns a valuable lesson -- to THINK before she speaks, especially around those that are ever, ever, aware.
4. Straying From the Familiar Once Again (UNFINISHED) This one never got finished and probably doesn't count for much, but I post it show the intention had been for Kaiya to continue to meet her and attempt to draw her out of her shell. .__. Unfortunately RL didn't let us actually complete that task. But in those couple of posts, it does highlight her desire and want to help this fragile soul.
5. The End Is Only The Beginning Kaiya doesn't appear until near the end of the RP. But this is where her life begins to change. It's as shorter RP, but up until now, Kaiya has lived alone. She had mentioned breaking up a prior betrothal as she was dedicated to her work, and her life was to live for OTHERS and not for herself. But in this RP she finds a foal that is in desperate need. . . .and much to her surprise, she decides to guard him, to take him on as her own. Kaiya learns that the spirits are full of surprises. . . . and though there is loss, there can be most unexpected love.
6. The Tension and the Terror This RP takes place after Sirian has grown into independence. By this time, she has also taken on a stallion as a mentor -- the young unicorn Galahad. She and Galahad only make a cameo in this RP, but once again, it showcases her determination to help others, anywhere, anytime.
7. Fragile Angel Wings With Sirian long since grown, the spirits grant Kaiya a boon. They lead her to yet another creature in need, but this time, there is no blood. . . only a single basket, abandoned in the winter snows. Once again, she is called upon to care for another foal, to take a reprieve from her duties.
8. A Walk to Remember (UNFINISHED) This is a very, very short RP. It probably doesn't even count. But the intention of this RP had been to reunite Kaiya with Raiju, the one she had once been betrothed with. In this RP they were to reunite, and she would make good on her promise she made as a very young filly. ._. Unfortunately, Kijani quit before this RP came to pass. . . though she DID give him children/heirs as to make good her promise. . and to help him in his own time of need. (At that point Eponine and he were together, and she was having trouble conceiving children. So Kaiya became a surrogate and gave Eponine two daughters to care for on her own.)
9. Saving the World One Soquili at a Time In this particular RP, Kaiya is met with an Usdia. This is part of a plot where Kaiya befriends an usdia mare, Esta. On the surface level, it looks like a meet-and-greet, but there's more to it than it seems. The conversation in this RP is primarily about children, both Esta's and Kaiya's own. She touches upon how they had been an unexpected surprise, and go in to more depth about how she feels about such things. Children had never been part of her great plan. . . but the spirits are surprising, and she's been much better off with them in her life.
10. Time They Are a Changing This RP is still ongoing (Cajmera is just busy IRL) but the bit that we have completed shows Kaiya's innate trust in the spirits to guide her where her hooves need to go. Furthermore, she meets a fellow angeni spirit, and she speaks of her views of the angeni lifetstyle. How there is a different attitude and lifestyle in the angeni of old and the angeni of new. . . .
11. A Destined Path Kaiya is a spiritual being, and as such, often accepts her life as it comes. Here, she meets a young stallion by the name of Tannin Nox. She finds in him not just a new friend, but a new apprentice -- though she is no knight, she agrees to take him on to train him spiritually for his chosen lot in life.
12. Persistance Is Futile This RP is also ongoing (though is basically beginning to wrap) . . . This is a post-battle RP, after Tannin and Kaiya have been driven off by a kalona herd for her preaching at them. This RP focuses on her training Tannin patience, but also delves in to the more negative and insecurities of her position. It isn't easy being a domain angeni, and shows that even pure beings as devoted to their jobs as Kaiya has been and will be, doesn't mean she's without wonder, worry, or even a little regret.
13. Say You'll Haunt Me Kaiya most recently stumbles upon her brother. . . her brother who is quite evil, and quite a nasty individual. In this, she is reminded that just because blood is thicker than water (or so the saying goes) she need to remember her place, remember her patience, and prepare herself for a long fight. . . It won't be easy redeeming him, but she is determined.
Why would your Soquili (IC) choose the Elder path? Kaiya honestly does not think of eldership, nor is it something she is actually considering. Her life has always been, and will always be, at the command and will of the Great Spirits. As a domained angeni, she has one job to do, and one job alone -- reedeem the spirits of those who are lost and broken.
Kaiya herself knows she is not a natural leader. She can't be a leader, at least in the stereotypical sense, because her heart is for the damned. She is focused on saving those she meets, so Kaiya might humbly dismiss the title of 'leader'. But deep down, she is a role-model, not just to those she meets, those she fights for, but for other angeni as well.
Because she does get out there, she does embrace her domain, and she refuses to give up even when things look bleak. Even though she fails, and will continue to fail, her fight doesn't end until the day she dies (or every last soquili is saved from evil and darkness). She is well aware the former is likely to happen first.
It's an uphill battle for Kaiya, it always has been, it always will be. If the spirits wish to bless her with elderhood due to her age and experiences, than that is their will and their will alone. As always, Kaiya will accept what paths the spirits lead her towards, be it Eldership or not.
Why have you chosen the Elder path for your Soquili OOC? To be perfectly honest, I never suspected I would try for any more elders once Bella achieved it. But as I continued to RP Ms. Kaiya, I found that she began to change. From where and what I wrote her like when I first received her: good natured, kind of young and a little silly, but determined to save the world single-handedly, to where she is now: much older, much wiser, more mature, and more reliant on the spirits and trusting them to guide her way.
While I believe skinwalkers may be the most difficult of all soquili to achieve eldership, angeni may be the second. The difficulty with Kaiya is that it IS in her character to be independent, to seek out those in need, and to give aid when asked. Where some soquili don't have those demands, so they could grow in to an amazing soquili by picking up such a path, for Kaiya that is just a typical day. She will never lead an army, because she does not fight for the body, but for the soul; she will never lead a herd, because her duty is purely for others, and settling down in one location would mean betraying those who need her. So to find where she is growing in character, to where she grows in to an elder, is difficult to truly discern.
But Kaiya has changed.
It may be subtle, but if you read her first RPs, and see where she is with Tannin and Shyam, she has grown up immensely. She has proven herself by helping a plethora of others through RPs and random encounters; originally, she never once thought to share her life with others (a mate or children) and yet she was blessed with three children and has been the spiritual guide and mentor for two others.
As far as stereotypes go, I truly feel Kaiya is an exemplary angeni. Many domained angeni settle, or form herds, or just kind of hang out and don't do much in the RP world. . . .but here. . . Kaiya has met many, and will continue to meet many as she travels. It is those she meets that help shape her life, and encourage her to go on. She has done a lot already, but there is still much for her to do and she intends to continue to learn, grow, and fight for those who are lost and needed.
