I really don't want to go on the pill, but I sort of need to with all my crazy PMS, moodswings and period issues. I don't want to go on it because I honestly just can't swallow pills.
Is there anything else I could use or do?
I know a lot of people who have been very happy with the nuva ring. It's small, comfortable, and apparently fairly easy to insert (I don't use one, personally, so I don't know). you don't have to think about it during the month until it's time to remove it, so there's no worry about remembering your pill every day.
The patch is another good option, but it's a little bit move visible if you worry about that sort of thing. I have a friend who uses it and loves it though.
The Depo Provera shot is not a good option. It is not recommended for young women and teenagers partially because of how much it contributes to osteoporosis. The horomone levels are very high and can really mess with your body. It also cannot be used for long periods of time, I want to say more than two or three years? I'll check my sources on that one, but in general, I would NOT recommend the shot, especially if your main concern is just regulating horomones, not preventing pregnancy.

Also, as a note on the pill, they're tiny. I took mine without water and could hardly even feel it in the back of my throat. Everyone's different though, and good for you for looking into alternate methods if you know this won't work for you.

I've been on Depo Provera for endometriosis for seven months, and I've had absolutely no side effects, but everyone's different. The bone density loss is a great concern, but for me it's currently the only thing helping with pain and I take supplements anyway. After me laparoscopy in a few weeks, however, I might be put on Lupron. NEVER take Lupron -- it's basically menopause. I DON'T want to go there but, depending on what they find, I might have to. But Depo really is not that bad.

If you want it just for mood swings, etc, I wouldn't recommend it, though. It's better for medical purposes.

Ah, see for that kind of medical reason it makes perfect sense. That's a different situation than trying to control mood swings, regulate menstrual cycles, or even as a "convenient" form of birth control. As a birth control method, I really don't like the option of Depo. However, your situation is different, and it sounds like it is exactly what you need.

Good luck with the laprascopy, and hopefully they won't need to put you on Lupron!

got a question about the day after pill...does it work? like what are the chances that it will work?

Well they're a lot higher if you don't take it. It's as effective as the pill. It's like taking two of them in one day, so you have that extra boost to make sure you don't.

Now, I have to disagree with this last part. (from http://www.planb.ca/)

Quote:
...remember the sooner you take it the more effective it is.

plan B is two pills which you take together. If taken within 72 hours, it prevents pregnancy by doing one of three things:

* Temporarily stops the release of an egg from the ovary
* Prevents fertilization
* Prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus

plan B is not an abortion pill—if you take plan B you will not be terminating a pregnancy. If you are already pregnant and take plan B, there’s no evidence that plan B will harm you or the fetus.

Plan B has slightly different formulation then birth control, BUT don't use plan B as contraception. Use condoms (and other forms of birth control).

Please note that Plan B isn't free. When you ask for Plan B, a pharmacist will take you aside and ask you some very general questions about why you need it (nothing that is said in that room will be said outside of the room unless its going to hurt yourself and/or others).

This is a really embarassing question but I need help on it. I hate pads but I can never use heavy tampons because whenever I try and take a tampon out, I cant. It's hard to explain but like, my hymen "covers" it, preventing me from taking it out. I actually have to move it out of the way/stretch it away, and then take the tampon out. However it's too hard to do it with large tampons, and painful regardless which size. Why is my hymen only literally a strip of skin, thats' REALLY thick and seemingly unbreakable (I've tried)! Instead of covering the entire.... entrance.... its only a small strip of skin. I can put tampons in no problem, but I cant get them out (easily) because they always get stuck. This has caused some embarassing situations where I'm in the bathroom for WAY longer than I could be, because I'm trying to get it out (it happened at the fair once, not fun. All my friends were waiting for me and it took at least 15 minutes and I didnt want to explain why, but I knew they were wondering. I havent worn a big tampon since). It's just way too thick and just WEIRD. Good god, what am I gonna do if I have sex? I want to (in the future, with the right person, being safe of course) but I'm scared of having it because its just WAY thick and I dont know how the hell it'll break. I've tried and it hurts so bad >_< this cant be normal.

I also have another question but its even weirder so I'm gonna PM you...

Yeah it always happens with slender too. (slightly) Easier to get out, but it still happens and it's still a pain.

Erm...
Is there anything that can cause my period to be "delayed"?
I've been getting cramps, food cravings and mood swings for a couple weeks. Everything except blood.
I'm not pregnant, I know that for a fact, I'm not on birth control or anything.

Stress or a hormone imbalance. Try taking a hot bath to relax your muscles and listen to music that soothes you. Just relax, it'll come.

A bath?
That will get it to come?
I didn't think stress could make it come so late.
It should've been over by now.

A long hot bath should help.
Stress does a lot of things to your body.

How old are you?

My period was really irregular until I start birth control. It's normal for younger women to have irregular periods, and not too alarming even for older women.

Things like stress, anxiety, over-exercising and being underweight can cause a delay or cessation of menses.

If it's really concerning you, you should speak with a doctor. Chances are, it's completely normal, but there are some serious medical conditions that it can be a symptom of. Keep tabs on your body and write your symptoms down if you think about it.

Brightest_Moon - Are you sure it's your hymen? The hymen is a very thin membrane that actually does not have any nerve endings in it. The pain associated with losing your virginity being because of your hymen breaking is largely a myth. Many women have their hymen break during other activities before becoming sexually active (horseback riding, gymnastics, bicycling, etc.).

How would two girls protect themselves from STDs? I assume this is still necessary.
