With his neck craned skyward for several minutes now, Oerlen took Blundarth's and Vimiath's invitations to look at their son as a reason to turn elsewhere, to everyone else who was now staring up where he had been. He was careful to keep his chewed up robes out of reach of the Goblin as she raced past, lifting them around his knees as he found Kambri again. His fellow candidate looked worse for wear. Oer suspected it had to do with a dragon, because... what else could have happened, really.

"All right?" he asked, glancing at the family of three just in case the bronze decided to throw his son at his new rider or something equally momentous.

Jagmund

The Candidate sat in the hot sands, his eyes closing to everything else as he just concentrated on breathing. Oww, when would the pain stop?

I AM NOT A MONSTER .

He cracked an eye open to witness the bronzes Impressing, whirling rainbow eyes for others. His heart fell, but relief also shot through him. The fighting would be over now, right? Oh, but a bronze... where did that third one go?

The greens and blues didn't really catch his interest as he took a moment to pity himself. He was in pain, looked over.... he could hardly believe it. Him! Jagmund! He was supposed to be the center of attention, wasn't he?

When Blundarth called the Candidates to look his way, he did so, but he didn't do it with enthusiasm. His chance was over.

Waiver
Super belated. Just mostly an FYI so you can see how the exchange was received.

Cedarian
He wasn't the biggest or strongest of men, but he was able to support G'ryl well enough. Part of him couldn't help but be defiant. His father had thought he could do little -- and yet here he was, assisting without complaint. He might have grown up spoiled, but he was no weakling either. Still, he let the bitter thoughts roll off him -- such negativity was not appropriate at a Hatching, even one as wild as this.

Besides, he didn't want G'ryl to bleed-out. Though he was a practical stranger, the fair-skinned man approved of what little he saw. Perhaps he would pay him a visit later -- assuming he had the time. There was no telling what would happen this day.

"Almost there," he encouraged, though he quietly agreed. Though it was just getting him to the sidelines, it felt like miles. "Your Sarcoth has fine taste, I see," he complimented. It wasn't just lip-service for the new pair. The fact that G'ryl had made a blip on Cedarian's radar to check in again later was a high honor indeed. Whether or not the new dragonrider knew that was unclear. "Congratulations on finding one another," he added, sincerely, to both.

Ah, but when the brown spoke to him, Cedarian lifted his brows in surprise. Still, his usual dour scowl turned into a smile, briefly, and he could feel his cheeks color with pleasure. He knew dragon's didn't often speak to strangers, and this must be a high honor, indeed. If he wasn't still supporting G'ryl, he would have bowed. Instead, he simply dipped his head. The formality of the brown was familiar, and almost amusing.

Before he could properly respond, Healers rushed over, and he was ordered to settle G'ryl down. He was shooed off back to the sands, and though his scowl an frown returned, he knew it was for the best. Giving them a small, cordial bow, he turned and stepped back onto the Sands.

He did not return to the fray, and lingered on the sidelines. He was disheveled, hot, his tunic covered in blood, and he felt an absolute mess. Besides which, the bronzes were fighting, and other dragons were keening, crying, roaring, and generally making a mess of things. He wasn't really sure where to go, so he stood defiantly alone.

He did periodically glance back at G'ryl and Dolmar -- to ensure both men were all right. What he did not expect was for a blue to pair off with his friend. Dolmar? Impressing a blue? It wasn't that he didn't expect it -- he just wondered how the other man would feel. There was a strange mix of excitement and jealousy -- the blue had been gorgeous, and had come from his favorite egg. He'd had a great response from it at the Touching and yet...

Well. He'd be sure to send his congratulations later.

Right now, there were still eggs out there. Perhaps he would not yet be over looked.

Any New Weyrlings Stumbling On Out

Weyrlingmaster Liat

The woman was welcoming the newly minted riders as they found their bondmates. "Come, come," she encouraged the group. "Take a bucket if you're able, and start feeding those lovely babies. Make sure they chew, and don't be alarmed if they start fussing or demanding more. We'll get them all fed, but need to do so at an easy rate." She knew A'ral had likely gone over some of these basics, but the awe of Impression could make anyone forget to focus on much of anything but the babies wants.

"L'del," she greeted. "We're going to need a healer to look over the two of you. You may feed him as you may, if his hunger can't wait, but those wound's need to be tended before infection sets in." She didn't need any of her new weyrlings -- dragon or man -- to succumb to something treatable. Furthermore, she needed to ensure the dragonet wasn't suffering any wound that would cause him permanent damage.

"D'mar," she looked up at the boy. "Have a seat. Feed him if you can, but do NOT hesitate to ask for help if you start feeling incapable." She glanced up at one of the Healers, quietly making sure they knew to watch the pair. As far as she was concerned, D'mar shouldn't even be up but. . . Impression had a funny way of spurring individuals on. She would watch them, and Orioth would watch them, just to make sure nothing happened.

Faranth help her, her weyrlings were already run ragged and it wasn't even a full day since they Impressed.

"You may feed her more, if she's still hungry. Take it slow though. Piece by piece. They'll eat a lot as young one, but you don't want to go too far. Watch her belly -- it'll start to bulge, and whether or not she's full, that should be enough." The green was on the plump side, which wasn't a bad trait. "Overfeeding can result in tummy-aches and indigestion, which wont be fun for any of you. Piece by piece. Slow and steady, the meat isn't going anywhere."

SilverLutz

Kiri
"Looks like it did," she confirmed, finding herself suddenly more or less relieved as both bronzes finally Impressed. She heaved a heavy sigh, almost leaning over to stretch her back, as tension she hadn't realized she'd been holding released. "Let's hope for a quieter second half now that the trouble's gone. And may all those wounded heal up quick." She glanced around, and arched a brow at the blue a top the bronze's head. ". . . is that normal?" She asked with an amused grin.

The girl looked around. There were still a few eggs left, and dragonets a plent among the group. Maybe there was hope for both of them, Roana, and Iathe yet.

Try though he might to see his, the little Blue Banshee was out of luck! No matter which way he turned, he just could not see them. They weren't there, he said sadly, and reached out imploringly to those gathered, searching desperately for his. And they aren't here, now.

Worry filled the baby as he curled up on his papa's head. Where are yoooou? he cried plaintively.

Martirae

As if understanding the situation, Marty pointed back to where the healers were working.

"Some candidates are back being tended to. Check there."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:41 pm

The little Blue peered down where the lady had said.

... But no, his wasn't there either. They aren't theeeeeeere, the baby cried, starting to feel panicked. The Banshee couldn't find his. Where was his rider?

On the sands, the Scarlet egg began to quiver.

Isilje

That poor little blue looked so lost. She felt for the poor thing, Hands folding at her waist, she slowly raised her red goggles up. At least the light wasn't TOO aggressive. She could see most of what was going on, and it was nice to be able to study the eggs and all the other things. That was when a wiggle caught her eye. A scarlet egg. Oh! Was there about to be another little one on the sands?

The Werewolf
The affectionate creature lingered with Esfir for a few moments. She was only too happy to nuzzle the other, and send her some energy, some hope, and some good cheer. This little green was certain all would be well, and she wanted to make sure that Esfir cried no more.

So she lingered by the girl, at least until her siblings had left. See? She crooned happily, ran a little circle around Esfir, before bolting off again. Esfir did not belong to her, and there were others out there in need.

So it was, the little one ran around the Candidates once more, though it did pause to give a little awoooo at The Gargoyle Egg. Why was it not yet Hatching? Did it not want to --

Oh! Oh hello!

With a happy creel the little green took off once more and quietly approached Jagmund. Something felt off about this one. So it was, the little green reached over and nosed at his hand, giving it a little sympathetic lick. It hurt! So it was, she sent happy, playful, cheerful vibes over the sad stranger. It didn't need to be sad -- today was a good day, even with a banged up body, and dismissive thoughts.

Don't worry, Jagmund. Be happy. And maybe go find a healer.

So it would awoo again, hoping that maybe someone would see this poor soul was in trouble.

The Zombie
The green finally heaved a shudder sigh and. . . rolled over. Yep. That was all it had in her today.

The Plaid Brown
Now that its brothers were Impressed, the brown paused to look around. He stretched his wings, and gave a loud bugle, hoping to startle some of the nearby Candidates. Don't look at Banshee, look at him!

The Mauve Blue
Ah-ha! Strigonth had Impressed, and now he could control-- NO!

The blue gave an irritated growl when The Plaid Brown and Blundarth seemed to call the Candidate's gaze. No! Look at him! Him! See him! He broke into a run. Him! See? This awesome blue? Check him out! He leaped at some of the Candidates, flapping his wings, and ignoring any stumbles he made as the sand gave way under foot. See?

DOWN GOBLIN! He thought as loudly as he could at the Green... Well. She. She didn't really stop, but she would next time. COME HERE, WEREWOLF! See? As suave as Strigonth, look at her -- No no no! He didn't think at her to go to that Candidate!

No! Look at him! HIM!!!

Kieza

She watched the small blue dragonet atop its bronze father’s head. She felt her face pull in a sad expression at the poor thing who desperately searched for its chosen, for its forever beloved. All the girl at that moment wanted to do was help. That sad little blue darling deserved it’s rider, especially after the craziness that had transpired this evening. Kieza hoped she wouldn’t have to bear witness to a dragonet going between....

"I'm not going anywhere," Laelia said with a grin, glad that somehow she had been able to find a friend amongst this madness. The Hatching - traveling to Western, getting into a fight with her sister. She began to wonder what would happen if she didn't Impress today. Maybe she'd request for a transfer to Western anyway - maybe she'd be happy here.

So much happened in so short a time - and now a Hatchling was tugging at her robe. She couldn't help but giggle at the Goblin, giving her a small pat on the head. And a dragonet was lifted into the air by Blundarth - and at command, of course, Laelia looked up at the Hatchling. It was a relatively small gesture, to just look up, to find your soulmate. The Banshee was having a hard time finding his rider, and Laelia felt for him. She'd had a hard time finding her dragon. The difference was, the hatchling could go Between if everyone wasn't careful. Wasn't someone on the search for his rider?

Saimwen was dragged along by Marinel, but he didn't mind. He had narrowly missed being trampled and hurt by the dragons on the way to their bonded, and he'd gladly be near people Marinel considered safe. But he couldn't help but look longingly out into the madness. Dolmar had Impressed - Marinel deserved that chance, too! "Mari," he said, squeezing his friend's hand,
face turning a bit red at how casual the touch was. "Everything's going to be okay. Dolmar is okay. Let's find you a dragon hatchling, huh?" He grinned sheepishly, before turning his eyes to the little blue ahead. The Banshee's was missing? But who would have abandoned their dragon like that?

Jagmund

Poor blue, he thought, watching from his makeshift seat. The dragonet on Blundarth's head was getting panicky and Jagmund could assume he couldn't find his. While he hadn't exactly liked the egg during the Touching, he did hope the little guy would Impress okay. A Weyr was no good without dragons, after all. He did think highly of the Weyr, even if it didn't seem like it at times. He didn't want to see any hatchlings go between for it's sake.

Speaking of... was Vimiath looking better? She was even eating! Did that mean that Talela was recovering? His heart soared in hope. Maybe there was still hope for himself, too? That third bronze was waiting, somewhere...

He glanced at movement, seeing the Scarlet egg's activity a way from his position. How many eggs had he missed touching?

Then a little green came over and called to him, and sent waves of happiness over him. He couldn't help but smile, feeling better still. He reached out his good hand and brushed her hide. Thank you, little one.

~Phayton~

Phayton stepped back a little bit from Jailla, his hand sliding down to hers, and looked around at the other Candidates. The poor little blue atop Blundarth's head couldn't find their bonded! "I hope the little guy is gonna be okay," he murmured. There had already been enough stress and near-tragedy at this Hatching -- nobody here needed the additional sadness of losing a Hatchling because it couldn't find anyone to Impress!

He watched the antics of the other dragonets, then a movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. "Look, another egg is moving! Maybe it's the one meant for you!" he said, giving her hand a squeeze. "I'm sure there's one here for you."

Waiting for the Scarlet egg to hatch just took too long. Especially when Djinn was ready to hatch! Aha! Now was the time to be alive! Shaking fit to fall, the Djinn tossed and turned. And finally, with one last, fitful wobble, cracked right open.

A confident, sinuous Blue paraded himself out of that egg, stopping for a moment to pose. They needed to admire his loveliness, surely. Oh yes, he was ready for this.

Farensil hummed at the preceedings, looking over everyone that had hatched, and those waiting for their lifemates on the hot sands. She let her gaze drift between them, now that the blue atop his fathers' head had dismissed everyone on the sands as not his. That was alright, he would find them sooner or later!

Farensil chuckled at the antics of the youths moving through the group, and those trying to glean some attention, before she sidled a little closer to one of the three she'd gotten to touch, before... well, everything happened. She bent nearby, careful to give the youth enough space to maneuver. "You still sleepy? Your brother didn't give you much choice, did he?" She didn't dare touch the infant, unsure who its claim was in the group. "Maybe come say hi, make a friend?"

Miach of White Akeroth

Since their impression the pair had been set up in a nice spot while the dragonhealers gathered around the white dragon, attempting to secure some of the more grievous wounds to his hide that had been inflected by both Illiandinth and Helsinth. Miach had a bucket close by but as of yet the white dragon had no desire to eat. It concerned her to a degree, however, she also felt some of the more painful prods that made their way through the bond. At Weyrlingmaster Liat's words she took her eyes from her dragon for the first time since impressing. "Akeroth i--isn't." She paused.

"Miach." Akeroth said, butting into her thoughts. "Mine." He continued, lovingly and would have cooed if he had more strength. "Calm." Was all he could manage to say as he was jabbed once again by the healers. How dare. To be fair, they were trying to help him but he had so much to do. They didn't have time for the injuries his brother's had inflected upon him. And he was so very tired. Try as he might though he couldn't take his eyes off his new rider and only once she had broken eye contact for the first time had he managed a glare in the direction of the healers.

The girl couldn't help but laugh at Akeroth and his thoughts. She had to be one of the luckiest to impress today, for he was surely one of the best. "He isn't e--eating. How should I encourage him?" She asked softly. Since the touching Miach had been into far more situtations that required to talk more than she did in a monthly basis. It was likely she was going to be sleeping in her room for a while. Wait. Her room? Now that she had impressed she wouldn't be at High Reaches anymore--in fact--she was now a Western rider. That thought alone made her stumble.

Kambri

His heart went out to the tiny blue dragon perched upon his father. The poor thing was searching desperately for his rider and it seemed they weren't readily in sight. Kambri looked to Oer and nodded his head, finally managing to pull himself up to his full height. "Yes. These dragonets are sure a handful." He grinned. He looked to the dragons playing, strutting and the eggs wiggling around in their spots. "Look at how full of energy they are!" Kambri laughed. He noticed a couple of them seemed to be a little distressed and that caused an ache in his heart. "Oer, open you arms up." He encouraged, doing the same and motioning for the young dragonets to come get cuddles. For those who weren't quite ready to meet their riders, he would gladly cuddle them until they were. How lovely they all were!
