((Nothing wrong with spraying perfume in pokémon's eyes. Builds character.))
Petilil released the blast. If they'd had been practising anywhere but open grassland, it would've cleaved the ground into a halfpipe. As it was, the Giga Drain simply flattened the grass and dried it up. The pokémon slumped from tiredness.
"Looks like we can't do too many of those," Wayne muttered, running his fingers through his hair, "Good work, Petilil."
Her mastery of Mega Drain gave Wayne incentive to make Petilil to evolve the attack into Giga Drain. It was still difficult for her to do. Even though a successful attack would restore energy, he doubted that she had it in her to use it too much in battle. Maybe with more practice it'd be less of a risk. He decided that for now it was safest to stick to Mega Drain.
Hitmonlee in the meantime had managed to use the same basic principal of Meditate to learn how to focus his energy into a single blow. Used correctly, it'd cause explosive damage potential against a foe. He wouldn't just be kicking train cars around, he'd be juggling them.
Solosis had been working on improving his Psyshock. He'd sped up the charge time, but he still hesitated on releasing it. That was something he'd have to get over soon, Wayne thought. He'd decided to pair Solosis up with Hitmonlee for tutoring.
"Okay, so Solosis can learn this move called 'Calm Mind'," he said, "Basically you chill out and focus. Sound familiar?"
Hitmonlee rolled his eyes. Solosis just rolled.
"Whatever. Hitmonlee, help Solosis learn to relax. Give him pointers on how you meditate, it's all pretty much the same deal, right?"
Hitmonlee shrugged and turned to his new student. Solosis seemed to shrink.
[Wow. This is going to be really tedious isn't it?] [Um...-] CRACK! [YOU DO NOT HESITATE! STAY CALM AND PROCEED!] [W-what?!] CRACK!
Wayne put his hands behind his head as Hitmonlee whacked Solosis across the face, "Heh," CRACK! CRACK! "looks like it's in good hands," CRACK! "Hopefully they'll be done pretty quick. Buff moves are boring to train." CRACK!
-
CRACK!
Hours later, the training was nearly complete. Solosis had managed to stop freaking out whenever he was hit and they'd even sparred a few times. Whenever he saw Hitmonlee, the psychic retreated into what he called his 'Happy Place' and his power seemed to increase. Hitmonlee even improved his Brick Break technique.
Hitmonlee avoided Solosis' Psyshock attack, which was coming out at a steady rate now that the pokémon's concentration improved. The Fight type's reactions were up as well, as he was looking for what was actually happening instead of what he expected to happen. Even he had to admit that Solosis would've landed the majority of his attacks had it not been for Wayne's insistence on paying close attention to the psychic's movements.
The field looked like it was covered in a small hoard of Hitmonlee, with the pokémon utilising multiple Double Teams to avoid damage. Unfortunately the ground was looking a little pockmarked from the missed attacks and torn up from Hitmonlee's evasion.
"Okay, I think that's enough," Wayne said from the sidelines. The pokémon came to a stop, with Solosis floating down slowly from his telekinetic vantage point. They rounded up. Petilil as well, who had been training her Magical Leaf technique to increase its power output, leaving gashes in a number of trees, even toppling a couple.
"We'd better head back to the pokémon center to grab something to eat and recharge. You all did good today." Wayne stood up. He was smiling but it looked a little distant. His pokémon went back into their pokéballs and he set off for the center.
Training was a little easier now that his pokémon were getting used to him. With a range of techniques under their belts, they could pick and choose the ones that they wanted to specialise in and grow. Not to mention that sparring together aided all-round battle readiness. He could control how harsh the fights would be better than against another trainer, which suited training just fine. He'd eventually have to test them against something unknown though.
By the time he reached the pokémon center, Wayne had decided his next move. After retrieving his pokémon from the nurse and settling down for a late lunch, he headed over to the Battle Company.
"It's been a while," he said to himself as he stared up at the tower, trying to spot the top. The last time he was here it was with a completely different team. It hadn't been especially challenging, but Wayne remembered thinking that the office workers were actually quite skilled, and that a new trainer might struggle.
"Let's see how strong we really are."

Helena followed along quietly the entire time. Wayne had seemed too busy to converse with. You know, because conversing with Helena was totally something people did.
Ever.
Instead, she simply waited for him to finish, apparently babying the poor hurt Wynaut. Enjoying a lunch, some walking - Scizor keeping a distance to avoid scaring Petilil.
And then wham, they were at the battle company.
Helena tapped Wayne's shoulder and gave him a thumbs up. Because he totally needed it here.

Glass exploded from 47 floors up, scattering with incredible force as Hitmonlee shot out of the building side. Conkeldurr glowered, slamming its stone column down, shaking the entire tower. Hitmonlee slowed, the glass freezing in place as the pokémon seemed to skid backwards on the air itself, his head lowered into a bow. Solosis backed him up with a Telekinesis save.
"I PREPARED FOR YOU ********>" roared a clerk. He wore a suit, had nice hair. Expensive shoes. He was a complete mess at the moment though.
The huge Fight type stomped over to Solosis, each step cracking the office floor. He tossed desks aside by brushing against them, knocked into light fittings and tore down the wires with a slight nudge of his head. He was feet away from Solosis, who remained calm. He didn't even blink.
Hitmonlee finished skidding. His head snapped up. He started running on the invisible telekinetic platform when the power caught up with him. The kicking pokémon was lifted up and sent shooting towards Conkeldurr like a cannonball, crashing through another window, kicking off the frame, driving a diamond-hard foot into the side of Conkeldurr's head as the glass cut into its body.
It staggered, its neck cracked back. Solosis launched a Psyshock underneath the giant's chin, blowing its head up. It toppled, landing flat on its back, stone columns crashing either side of it. One of the office workers cowering around the edge of the room screamed.
More came forth with their pokémon as Hitmonlee touched down on the floor beside Solosis. They were sizing up their opposition when Wayne crashed through a nearby door, sending wood splinters scattering. Petilil followed him, not taking her eyes off the room they'd been in, sending green Mega Drain blast after blast back through to her attackers.
"They forced us back!" Wayne yelled, climbing up, "This is gonna be close!" [Get down!] Hitmonlee shouted, shoving the trainer to the floor as the room of office workers released their assortment of pokémon.
He managed to extend his leg, swinging it horizontally, crashing into each pokémon in turn and locking them together in a huge mass of bodies.
[To me!] shrieked Solosis, who hit them with a Psywave and blasted the pokémon into Petilil's room. Thanks to that, doorway was suddenly wider. [Taaaaake thissss!] Petilil finished, blasting them with a Growth-powered Giga Drain that blew another hole across the entire floor.
The side room was ruined, and the office workers were fleeing down the stairs. Wayne got back to his feet, checking to see if the workers in their room were following up with their assault. Some were crying or remaining huddled up in a ball on the floor, one dived out of the window. The ones that had sense were trying to find the stairs to get away.
Wayne took a breather when they were gone. "Well," he said-
-
["-looks like we're finished with this floor."]
"Mr. President. He's made his way past floor 47." "I'm aware," said the man dressed like a janitor. He removed his glasses, setting them down on the security monitor desk while rubbing his eyes. "This is the end of days." "I heard the stories, but..." "Scepticism is to be expected. I'm afraid this is a repeat of three years ago."
The aide straightened his tie. He had to do something. It'd keep his mind away from his nerves. He'd sweat less.
"Sir, if there's anything we can... I mean. This can''t be the end of it! You have to do something!" "Damnit man, don't you think I know that?!" the Battle Company president rose from his chair, "Send Accounting down to support Marketing!" "But they hate each other!" "Do it! It may be our last chance," he breathed out through his nose, surveying the camera monitors. Several were out. The working ones that weren't staring at destroyed rooms showed nervous groups of workers or people fleeing down the stairs. Wayne and his pokémon were on three different screens that all showed the same thing.
The destruction of the Battle Company Acquisitions Department.
-
"Aaaand floor 55! Sweet!" Wayne cheered. His pokémon looked tired but it was a good tired. "This is the last one if I remember right."
"So you've come at last. Do you intend to destroy me as you have my company?" President Janitor said, hands behind his back, standing before Wayne and the pokémon with anger blazing in his wrinkled old eyes. But not his voice. No, his voice maintained a level of calm.
"I guess I did sorta destroy those guys. We've been training all day, y'know. Well except for this bit where my Uncle Jump got me to try and hit him. He's not really my uncle, that's just what he's called. My Aunt's waiting outside though. She's my aunt even though I'm like years older than she is. I said I'd only be a few minutes but how long has it been? Fiffffteen...?"
"God, I despise you." The president took out an old pokéball, "Rhydon," he said, "You must win!"
"A battle!" Wayne yelled as the horny rock monster materialised. He grinned excitedly as Petilil and Solosis charged power. Hitmonlee got ready. The president screamed.
-
A couple of minutes later, Wayne left the Battle Company. His clothes weren't muddy anymore, but his face was a little charred and he was soaked from the fire alarms. The 55th floor was seeping smoke from its shattered windows and the president's sobs could be heard echoing throughout the city.
"Hey, there you are!" Wayne said as he spotted Helena, "Sorry it took so long. The elevators weren't working for some reason. They said it'd take me longer to get to the top that way. Oh look, their janitor gave me this experience thing; I think it's supposed to help with training. He looked sorta upset when he gave it to me though. Just kept telling me to leave him alone, so I figured he must've had family issues or whatever."
Wayne stared at Helena's blank expression.
"Oh? The Battle Company are old pals of mine from way back. They always go all out whenever I show up there. It's like they don't even give a s**t if stuff blows up, it's awesome!" Wayne grinned as he plonked the experience share on top of his head. With no backpack, this was the only way he had to carry the damn thing. "So we should probably go to the pokémon center. I think Hitmonlee got scratched when he jumped through a window."

upon leaving the pokemon center, the boy and his gallade were hoping for a second chance. they wanted to find out about who they fought on liberty garden. but first things first, they ran strait for the docks, going to check on gyra. the instant the pair reached the dock, she came up as if she had been waiting this whole time. gyra smiled but you could tell she was dissapointed inside, thinking she should have been able to handle her task. knowing how she felt, kenta simply smiled back and patted her head, trying to reassure her it was ok.

A game of sorts. Turn every piece of glass to dust before it hit Helena. With windows shattering like it was going out of style, this was quite the task.
When he landed all that was left was a rain of dust.
Helena had an umbrella already up, the dust hitting it. Not a piece would touch her. Seriously, one wound and she'd break her contract.
Soon after Wayne came out and she turned to greet him with a smile.
Scizor regarded Wayne. So he'd defeated the Battle Company, eh? That meant one thing over anything else.
His Pokemon had some really good stamina.
With a flick of her wrist, the umbrella was closed up. A trick she'd learned from her father. Pointing it toward the park, it was a question of 'are you ready to go' or perhaps a 'lets go'.
Either way, Helena communicated through vague gestures and staring. You'd have to know her to figure out what she meant. Which was probably half a dozen people in the world, two of them were probably Zack and Kero.

"Huh?" Wayne craned his head around to follow Helena's pointing, "We can go to the park after I get my guys fixed. We spent like all day there, sure you don't wanna go anywhere different?"
Wayne had his pokémon safely back in their balls, which were tucked into his pockets. He probably looked a little odd being soaked through and with a strange contraption on his head, but he didn't seem to mind.

Helena nodded. Sounded good. She turned her umbrella to point it in the direction of the pokemon center.
Scizor looked at the Battle Company. So this chump had beat them? They must all be super chumps.
And Helena would follow Wayne wherever he went, cause she was totally hanging out.

((Cue montage of Helena following Wayne into embarrassing places))
Wayne got his pokémon healed and then they went to the park. Again. They avoided going to the area that they'd been training at earlier because someone might want to speak to them about all the damage they caused.
Wayne thought he heard a familiar voice shouting nearby, Salieri maybe, and battle noises, but the trees were so thick that he didn't see anything. Instead they found an ice cream vendor near one of the pathways and a bench.
"Okay, I have err... 5." Wayne showed Helena his trainer card, which displayed his lack of bank balance. "5 whatevers. Will you be able to foot the bill for these ice creams? I'll let you hold Petilil."

kenta let out a sigh. he knew the enemy would recognize his distinct pokemon in this highly cut off reigon. he hated doing this to them, especially gyra. he took out 2 special pokeballs. they looked like luxury balls but they were marked differently, blue where red would be and white laced instead of gold (kurts all natural luxury balls biggrin ). "i promise u wont be stuck in these long, ok? the 2 pokemon nodded, knowing, for the most part, the same thing the boy had concluded. the 2 went into the balls and kenta attatched them sucurely to his belt before leaving the docks

((For some odd reason the strip club refers to Helena as a regular.))
Money? Helena had so much of that she could buy a small country. Well, maybe not. But an island? Easy.
She pulled a credit card from her purse and paid for the ice cream, taking one for herself.
Which Wynaut promptly chomped and ate in one bite.
The pouting Helena was left with no ice cream.
Till she bought another.

Meanwhile...
Henrietta had been just walking along now. Tired and thinking.
No matter where she went, it seemed, the world wanted to ******** with her. But gym leaders were cruel, she'd come to realize this since Striaton. When their battle had ended over a pit of lava and Cress and Chili were just chilling like that was the norm.
Now Burgh had ended their fight with no option to give up. A cruel beast, he seemed.
The entire day had been full of battles - and only one of them had pushed Henrietta's Pokemon to their limits. If she spoke frankly, bluntly, she'd tell you that there was simply no one that could challenge her.
But her Pokemon had always gone forward. When she wanted to stop, they wanted to go. The fought for each other, but she would never see it. What was their motive? What was their goal? She didn't quite get it.
Certainly, Pokemon wouldn't devise their own reason to thrust themselves senselessly into battles, right?
She released Socant while on her walk, the little tick Pokemon resting on her finger.
"Why do you guys insist on fighting?" she asked.
"Jol."
Melty wanted to get stronger, Darumi wanted to be strong enough to protect Henrietta, Frate wanted to prove himself to his people and Socant? One may never know.
Still, Henrietta didn't know any of that. N's words were just the words of a crazy person.
And that's around the time she came across Wayne. Blinking, she looked upon him.
Alright, one last test.
One last Pokemon battle. See if they wanted to fight. To start..
"Socant," she said as she looked at the tiny bug. "Would you like to battle."
"Jolt!"
She had no way of knowing what that meant.
"Er.. Shock me if you don't want to battle," she said. They could understand simple orders like that, at least. Pokemon being sentient creatures with intelligence was something under study, as they portrayed varying levels.
Devoted Pokemon were classified scientifically as subjugated Pokemon in a scientific essay written by a man known as The Scientist. It was believed that time in the Pokeball, or 'cage', possible radiation from the pokeball when it was charged during the night so it could maintain a level of energy - or when they got charged while the pokemon was being healed - along with the trainer's forcing them to do things - eventually ended in s physical inability to think properly as well as a psychological neglect for critical thinking.
Of course, one could say this 'cannot be proven' but there was no other reason for a Tyranitar to obey a teenager when they were normally kings of mountains. Friendship? It meant little to them when they inherited the status of kings.
Or so went the essay Henrietta had read.
When there was no electric shock she moved on, stepping over to Wayne.
"H-hey, Wayne."

And so, after a car trip, they arrived at the plasma building. Gorm and his crew stepped inside, Victini following after.
"Notify Bronius," Gorm said to the man that came to greet them. Then he turned his head to Aneta. "Inform Reid's team as well."
Victini, following curiously, followed Gorm up to the highest floor in the building.
It was too late for anyone to interfere now.

Reid had moved locations. Now that Salieri was on the docks, he was a distance away near the pokemon center. Jackie the Hitmonchan watched her from the top of the mast of a sailboat, and Reid watched through Jackie's vision.
He answered his phone. "My team has our subjects in their sights. Any trouble on your end?"
****
“Okay guys, so this is Haizhe.”
Salieri stood next to Haizhe in front of her team whilst standing on the docks of the wharf. It was about time to check in on everybody. Sal felt that if she could make an ally out of a bizarre ghost, she could talk to the pokemon who doubted her too. “Now Haizhe, this is-“
[Liuye Dao, Wukong, Chen Zhen,] Haizhe called off, pointing to each pokemon in line. [And…is this one Salem? She must be. Unless you misplaced Salem?]
“Wait…do you know their names? How do-MY JOURNAL!”
Salieri’s confusion turned to anger as she reached for Haizhe’s throat, ringing his neck back and forth. The Frillish’s eyes bugged out of his head like a cartoon squeeze toy. “Never read my journal again! That’s private!” she growled.
Liuye regarded Haizhe with a cautious glare. [Isn’t this the pokemon you battled last night?] Wukong asked Salieri. The Monferno snorted, and steam came from his nostrils. [You tore up a bedroom to fight him, remember? This is stupid.]
Salieri stopping choking Haizhe to look back at Wukong, allowing Haizhe . “You’re wondering why he’s on the team now, right? Turns out he’s not a bad battler. I decided to give him a chance.” She cleared her throat. “Because I’m trying to be more sympathetic. Soooo…”
She looked to where Chen Zhen and Salem had just stood. They were gone. Salieri twisted around to try and see where they went.
Somehow, Chen Zhen and Salem had gotten onto a large boulder that jutted out of the water near the shore. Chen Zhen sat before Salem in a cross-legged position, weaving the shape of a lotus flower with his vines. The Espeon eyed the vines intensely, and the structure began to glow. Slowly, the vines started to unwind from their shape, under the power of Salem’s Telekinesis.
Wow. That’s…really good precision, actually. “Hey, Salem, that’s really cool!” Salieri called over to her pokemon. “Come back here real quick and meet Haizhe, okay?”
Salem’s eyes met Salieri’s quickly, but then she looked away. Chen Zhen simply shifted in his seat to turn away from his trainer. Sal’s heart sank a little.
“Okay…or you could just stay there…”
The Battle Girl sighed. And then she spun around, giving her other pokemon a big smile. “Well, anyway, how did your training go?”
Wukong decided to break the awkward tension by jumping in the air, and then doing a backflip via double jump with his Blaze Bounb. Trails of fire streaked off his legs as he spun and landed. “Fern-O!”
“Impressive!” Salieri clapped, and Haizhe mimicked the motion behind her back with his tongue sticking out. Wukong snickered a little, but Liuye continued glaring at the pokemon who would dare mock Master Salieri. “That’ll be great for mobility! How about you, Liuye?”
Liuye Dao took a deep breath, then held up his arm across his chest. The Pawniard closed his eyes, and golden sparks danced and zipped across his arm. Salieri leaned forward , intrigued.
“Oh? So you managed to maintain a current after all. Was it hard?”
Hard? It was brutal. Liuye Dao felt more internal pain then he ever had before thanks to misfiring his nerves for fourty-five minutes. But once he got it under control, he knew it all worth it. After hardening his focus even more with thoughts of the power to come, Liuye grasped the technique. He shook his head no.
“Just what I expected of my soldier boy,” Salieri cooed. The compliment caused Liuye to turn away so no one could see him blush.
“Okay, so lets try some other things. Haizhe, you and I are going to work on learning Ice Beam. If we want to beat Iris, this is going to be key. It’s like Scald, but opposite. Wukong, you’re going to work on Fire Punch. Should be easy to learn, and once you figure that out then try to apply it to Blaze Bound.”
Wukong tilted his head to the side, confused. “Well, if you make a jet of fire with Fire Punch like with Blaze Bound, you should be able to reorient yourself in the air. Just in case your trajectory gets messed up when you double jump. You know…Iron Man does it. Kind of.”
The Battle Girl turned to Liuye Dao. “And Liuye, I’m going to try and teach you Rock Polish. If we add that to your new Static Senses, you movement levels will be through the roof!”
Salieri had tried to focus everyone’s training on mobility today. She had no idea what Salem was going to learn now. And she didn’t know what Chen Zhen would do either, although it did say on her pokedex that he picked up Acrobatics.
She planted her hands on her hips. Going back to training felt right. But with two of her pokemon still on bad terms with her, it would be tough-
“BLARGH!”
Salieri’s head was engulfed by Haizhe’s bottom tentacles, which had melted into one body of liquid. The Frillish chuckled while Salieri flailed her arms around to swipe him away. An emote appeared in a black, swampy thought bubble over his head: " scream "
[Oh-ho-ho-ho! Choke me, will you? Your days of not breathing watery substance have come to AN END!]

So Salieri's team got to training on the docks.
Haizhe found himself having trouble learning Ice Beam. Salieri said it was like Scald, but cold. With no water. So far, he managed to spurt jets of cool water at the ocean front. But every time, Sal told him to focus on just the cold aspect ("It's supposed to be a BEAM, dammnit.")
As chunks of water started to become ice on contact with Haizhe's attacks, he got closer and closer to mastering the technique. It helped that he had a focal point: Wukong.
In an effort to stay out of the water he disliked so much, Wukong was rapidly using Blaze Bound to continuously jump off of small explosions produced by his feet. Learning Fire Punch proved to be no trouble at all since his Typing gave him a natural affinity for it, not to mention that it was very similar in practice to Blaze Kick.
Using the force of Fire Punch's flam.es to redirect himself, however, was trickier. Everytime that Wukong felt he was going to fall into the water, or that he was going to get hit by Haizhe's progressively colder attacks, he tried to use an explosive jet of fire from his hands to move himself around.
He found himself falling in and getting blasted a lot. Oh well. Practice makes perfect.
In order to learn Rock Polish, Liuye Dao concentrated hard on reducing the amount of drag his body produced. He would in theory became more aerodynamic, with double his normal speed. Using Inner Focus to boost his concentration, Liuye began to mentally reform his armor to fit the attack's needs. Slowly, the red on his armor looked shinier and shinier, with less scratches than before. The speed of the technique's realization needed work, but Liuye was getting the hang of it.
In order to test out his mobility, Liuye Dao was told to go out into the street across form the pier and literally play with traffic. Using a combination of an imperfect Rock Polish and Static Senses, he flipped, ran, and maneuvered back and forth between moving cars. Each time he came close to getting hit (which meant that someone would do an emergency stop and almost cause a twenty car pileup), he would try improving Rock Polish again.
Salieri watched over all of this. Her pokemon seemed to have the somewhat unorthodox training under control. She looked over to Chen Zhen and Salem, who were doing the same thing as before to the best of her knowledge. It was hard to tell with both of their backs facing her. And Salieri didn't have the means to get to the rock they sat on herself. It was surrounded by raging waves.
She sighed. The Battle Girl decided to wander off to the other end of the dock to do some meditating on her own. Sal trusted her pokemon to take care of themselves.
