Tsukiko grinned ear to ear at Selina's faith in Kenshin. She had to agree that it made the most sense for him to lead the two of them - well, and Chi - since he was the most accustomed to both of the after Seizan. Not to mention, he kind of needed a 'win' after all the s**t they were just put through, and she definitely trusted him. He made sure they were safe out there in the field, after all. "I'm trained in the chain whip and kick boxing, so I ought to be able to hold my own up front. Chi here knows only a few jutsu, but they're meant to keep enemies off me if it becomes to much for me to handle. I know some raiton and fuuton myself, though none of them will be efficient long-distance techniques. You're going to want me up close and personal," she admitted after some thought.

___What the hell was it with people getting trapped behind enemy lines? The thought wandered across Kaneo's slightly absent mind as the rest of the people began dispersing. His eyes drifted to the two new members of the squad, golden oroboros tracing their forms. If he shared any genuine rage at the announcement of their current predicaments, it didn't show. Kaneo wasn't much of a killer. He enjoyed the hunt, but didn't hit hard. The man could tail a mark for weeks without them ever knowing, but he lacked just a little of the fire that burned inside someone like Mizuki. A little of the bloodlust necessary to summon genuine hatred in his bones for people he'd never met. His concern for her, however, was clear, though he stayed out of her way as he saw best fit the current scenario. "Err... I'm Kaneo by the way. Sorry if I've been a bit spacey, just trying to contextualize all this crap in my head." He said as he stuck a hand out in Axel's direction. Whether he took it or not was another story, since Kaneo had his own work to get to. "I might not have as much a dog in this fight as you guys, never had much to take away to start with, but I'll have your back when you need it. I better not piss Mizuki off by failing to get a bit of extra work in though, so I'm off." He added before turning and heading to find his own spot in the busy dojo.

For a moment the reaction completely floored Shiro. He knew they had faith in him but for them to follow him to the point of treason was beyond his expectations. But he knew full well that the Daimyo would execute him and not them, he would sign their treason off on following orders. But the situation was looking up. They were motivated and now invested in the avenging of Seizen. Two birds with one leadership stone. Taking a deep breath he smiled and embraced Jay simply,"Good to see you back. Your report will have to wait though." Facing Toso he also embraced the squid man with a hug,"Good to have you." Facing Mizuki and Unki he nodded,"We will work out the details of the plan in the office." With a wave he motioned to both Toso and to the Twins,"Office. OH and Jay, have the rest of Osiris there as well. You have work to do." Stepping towards the podium he picked up the kage hat and with one last act of defiance for the daimyo, poured electricity into it until it burst into flames and burned to ash in his hand. The daimyo would not stop him, the UHV would not stop him. He would have his revenge and he would see his dreams realized. Either with words or at the point of a sword.... Shaking his hand he mounted the stairs and headed towards the office. [exit]

Axel nodded to Mizuki. He figured he could get a little more training done beforehand, but wasn’t sure if he actually should. “Alright. I’ll do that, just let me know when we’re leaving.” He looked at Kaneo, it seemed she had lost something at the hands of the UHV judging from his words, but Axel knew better than to ask. He waved his hand at Kaneo in a gesture that implied that it didn’t matter. “We’ve all been there, I’ve just returned… It’s amazing how much can change but still have everything be the same around here.” He said to Kaneo and then left with him walking back to the Dojo, but stopped and called over to Mizuki. “By the way… If you could ask the Raikage, or anyone that knows frankly, about the geography of the area, that would be of huge help.” He tried to suppress a mischievous smile when he said that, but failed. Once that was said, he turned his back on her and walked on over to the training area.

While the hype was as alive as ever, the crowds seemed to be dying down. Everyone was assembling into their respective squads and going off on assigned missions. The leaders were even all heading to the office for a wargaming session. This left Shion alone to go train or do whatever she really wanted until the plans had all been put into action. Or at least, that's probably what she should be doing. Instead, she was left to ponder about her current situation. She looked over the assembled shinobi, watching as they went about their tasks. Many of them were so far beyond her, even some of the genin as fresh as she was had joined up with the KPD or some other sort of organization. And here she was, a disgraced, self-described "rebel," relegated to the sidelines so she could wait for some menial escort mission to pop up while others went out to perform more important village functions. The very thought of it all tore into her, burrowing deep into the very core of her being. But rather than knock her down a peg, something else happened. A spark ignited within the girl; a burning passion to show what she was made of. Shion was above all this; she wasn't just some guard dog and she was going to prove it. If she was to make a name for herself, she'd have to be relentless in her pursuits. She'd have to take every chance she got, and this was just the opportunity she needed. This war was her shot to rise up, and she'd be damned if she was going to throw it away. Shion watched as the leaders gathered around the Raikage took off one by one, followed by the man himself. She would follow in pursuit once they had all left the podium, the first steps on her road to glory... or another humiliation. What did she have to lose?
Raising an eyebrow she watched as Jay take her hand hand into his. As it was placed against his abs she smirked devilishly. It reminded her of the time she had to heal him back at the dojo and the fun of flirting with the two twins. Pointed nails traced his skin as she used this to ignore what Axel had called out to her. Whatever it was he was implying with his demeanor she didn't care at the moment since someone else had her attention. For the moment she allowed him to touch her neck and then run his hand across the armored vest. "Maybe sometime I'll give you permission to feel me~" with a wink to the man she too waited for Shiro's next move. With little left to be said out here apparently she would simply follow Shiro to the office. [Exit]

Jay and Jeon both offered a chuckle at the return of Mizuki's flirt. She was a little oddball indeed, one the duo were fond of for many of the same, and many different reasons. Jay had embraced Shiro back, but Jeon, from her perch, felt a little left out. It' hadn't dawned on her... but maybe he was gay. He had, after all, chosen to embrace the tentacle monster and her brother while not acknowledging her. She landed from a flashy dismount, taking the naginata and replacing it on her back as Mizuki and Shiro both departed. Jay watched her leave for a bit before his sister tapped his shoulder and got on the way as well. As for Osiris, they were always nearby. The twins didn't need to give any sort of signal to them at all. In fact, they might very well have beat them there.

Selina's resolved form dissolved into a flood of cherry blossoms as the small girl landed in front of the militant man. She enjoyed floating, but she wanted to feel the earth beneath her again. Tsukiko was on board with Kenshin leading them, and also gave details about what kind of combatant ninja she was. Selina paused as she truly thought of the question. "In terms of fighting, I really don't like getting close and personal. In return, however, I know a few good long range techniques, as well as a lot of moves to hinder bad guys and support the good!" She said with a chipper, raised fist. She saw that other people were starting to leave. She wondered if their leader was going to move them out as well.
__ Kenshin gained a clearer picture of Akahina's abilities through her description and nodded affirmatively. "Another front line fighter." He made note of this before listening to Selina. Her abilities added a lot of variety to the trio, but it took more time for Kenshin to think of where to place her. "Rosewater, you'll be behind us offering combat support." These were basic strategies, but this how he imagined the combat would transpire in the field. "As your commanding officer my duty will be to protect both of you. You must also know that this mission will be incredibly dangerous with a high likelihood of fatality." These were the facts that he was stating in a characteristically deadpan manner without considering morale. "I cannot allow them to die under my command. It'd be better if I died instead of them." Kenshin had very little to fear of death itself. He lived the path of a righteous man who was destined to cross the doorway into paradise. He could only imagine the glory of an afterlife filled with order and light mixed seamlessly into the heavens. The possibility of dying in a cowardly, painful, or sordid way that reflected a failure of his duties was his true fear.
Selina's smile switched to a pout when Kenshin mentioned the possibility of dying. Her index finger rose as she pointed at the now taller man. "No no no! We are not going to talk about us dying." She said as then her face loss all intensity and her eyes became glossy. "I mean, I know it's true, but we can't allow ourselves to think like that." Her hands fell to her side as she started twirling circles in the dirt with the tip of her shoe. She looked at her feet while she did so. "We already saw that people have died. Good guys and bad. It's hard to not think that what comes next will also involve people dying. We don't need to remind ourselves of that pain, however." Her words were tender, and the act of revisiting those memories caused her great pain. Despite this, however, resolved eyes locked back with Kenshin as she spoke again. "Instead! We're going to go there and win. We're going to save Ada-chan and Hachiro-san. And then, we're all going to hang out and get ice cream. And I'm going to get triple scoops with chocolate chips and a waffle cone!" A smile came back to her face. Her arms now rose and her hands were inward toward her chest, her hands curled into small fist as her eyes shimmered like stars. "So no more sad talk, and let's all do our best!" She exclaimed as she expanded her arms and her hands opened out. She said this to Kenshin, but her words were also toward Tsukiko. She could sense the other woman was also nervous about what happens next. Selina saw a future as bright as sunshine, and she was not going to stop until she reached it. It was her job to help others reach that future as well.
__ An eyebrow furrowed as he listened to Selina's hopeful plight. She was advocating positive thoughts before they could embark upon this great crusade. "What a naive little girl and to think she's on the police force." There were a great many aspects of Selina that Kenshin found confusing and even baffling. Why did she fight for the law? Was it for friendship? She did not seem to respect traditionalism to the same extent as himself which kept Kenshin from overly respecting her. At the same time she did not seem to be rebellious or anarchic which kept Kenshin from hating her. All the same he knew she was his comrade and that they were fighting for the righteous cause. He also understood that she was his responsibility in this battle and needed to prepare her. The part about getting ice cream after fighting in the war, as if blissful innocence could ever be maintained in the season unending.
Once she finished he spoke up. "Courage is not gained from ignoring fear or thinking happy thoughts. The only way to be brave is to know your fear and do what must be done anyway." His voice was serious. He knew that Selina deciding to live in a world of hope was what brought her to her knees in Seizan and he did not need that to be replicated on the field of battle. "I'm simply ordering you to be cautious, just don't try to be a hero or you'll die. My duty is to protect those under my command so if anyone is going to die it'll be me." This was a testament to his priorities and an unyielding adherence to his duty. "Make no mistake, justice will fall on Seizan. We will confront the UHV and n** their crusade of darkness in the bud. Be prepared for the worst from those savages and give them your best." There was a hatred in his voice as he spoke of his intentions in the battle. The faces of Seizan's fallen were carved into his soul and he would not rest until he could avenge them.
A pin drop could break the tension as civilians and ninja alike gathered in the plaza, and Hyan a ninja in training was among the faces in the crowd onlooking the Raikage and the Elite ninja of the Cloud Village. The Raikage gave a passionate speech which had instilled courage and comradery in Hyan. Hyan wasn’t a native of the land of lightning, but even so the decision to come here would never haunt him. The Raikage seemed to care so much about the village, the people, and the shinobi that he commands with respect. Sweat dripped from Hyan’s forehead as the crowd became sullen and in some cases angry, the Raikage explained that a village had been attacked by some faction calling themselves the United Hidden Villages. The Raiakge spoke of the entire population including that of women, children, and the elderly being mercilessly slaughtered. Granted if this had been just a shinobi attack Hyan may not have gotten as fired up, but killing the innocent and feeble who can’t even fight back? The bastards in the UHV would be paid back in full -with interest. Hyan knew now was the time to finish his training and swear his loyalty to the Raikage. The ninja of the village rang out their support for the Raiakge one after another, Hyan would regret that he was not standing with them at this moment. Soon the Raikage left to return to his office, Hyan left the plaza towards the office of the Raikage to obtain his headband and permission to join a squad on the front or to provide first aid
Tsukiko and Chi perked up at the same time as Shiro's voice filled the village. It was time. Tsukiko shivered involuntarily as she felt her blood freeze; Goddess, this was war. She didn't think she'd ever experience it, that they would be trained solely in-case. An insurance policy. She took a deep, shaky breath, then shared a glance with each of her team members until her eyes fell on Chi. "Okay, who's ready to defend everything we've ever known?"
It was time. Kenshin wasn't willing to give Selina an inch, so she was going to take a mile herself! It was up to her to be double as positive about the future as possible. "To Ada!" Selina cheered as she followed behind Tsukiko.
