There's no madame purple. The violet typically bears the name of Star Sapphire.
White... Well, it was used once and then made much less important when they quashed black. Once in a while they focus on someone brought back from the dead to do something as chosen by the white light, but nothing terribly important.

He's essentially a glory seeking a*****e from the future to become a super hero in the present day.
He happened to be in Blackest Night because he had to fight his once dead best friend as a Black Lantern zombie.
