Zil held onto his chest. To him, he thought what Shadow said was rather hypocritical of her current actions but said nothing on that. "You think things will be better if we go on with our current state?"
"Well, from the recent information, it appears they are trying to turn both the citizens and the foreigners against us. And if we keep playing the same way we are doing, they could kill more of our own. Something different has to be done. And I think it is time for you to make another speech. There is too much unrest in the major cities as of late. Things have been chaotic ever since the takeover of Helmshire. Moreover, many point to spies being planted within our own ranks" Monica said. She rolled her eyes, "I need a smoke"

"Of course I don't." She replied. "But I don't want it to end like last time either." She sighed.

"Sometimes, I don't want to be a part of it anymore but oftentimes, I am called back to it" Zil sighed. "It is quite difficult to escape but living in this country is even more intolerable. At least, I think that"

"I firmly believe that there's always going to be someone else" Zil said. "After all, hard times create emerging heroes. And who knows? Heroes that can do a better job than we ever can. But if we don't step aside to give them a chance to go, they won't mature to their full potential"

Shadow was silent for a minute and looked at her food. "I don't agree with that."

"Do you think you and I would be talking right now if she hadn't died?" Zil asked, looking towards the window.

"What?" Shadow blinked. The question seemed to come out of nowhere and she didn't quite know how to answer it. "I don't know..." She admitted. "Does that matter?"

"Of course it does. Would you regret it if she didn't die?" Zil said. Zil was much like an obedient puppy to that person. He desired nothing more than to be close to her and was close to no one else. Frankly, if she didn't die, he might still be as he was then and wouldn't have met anyone, even Dustin. And if she didn't die, there was no reason to take over the rebellion, now was there? Everyone's places in the current situation would have been entirely different only because of the hypothetical life or death of this person. Zil shook his head at the thought while waiting for Shadow's response. He fancied to be someone as pivotal as she.

"I suppose that's true." She sighed. "She must have really been important to you. I probably would have wound up the same either way, and so I think it's more of a question you should ask yourself." Shadow replied.

"I am asking you. Because I wouldn't be here if she were still alive. We would never have met" Zil said. "I personally kind of like it this way. I don't regret meeting you and Dustin and everyone. But I would definitely regret letting them die. I can't be here if that happens"

Damien rubbed his head. This was all too much. He then stood up. "Well then, a good speech will be what I deliver. I would have thought that after Helmshire fell we could just ease back and go slowly for a couple years while we rebuilt the military to begin our overseas invasions, but apparently things aren't going according to plan. I should have expected this. Desperate people trying to do whatever they can to try and stop me. It's too bad they just won't learn that that's impossible" the Absolute Leader said as he picked up his phone and informed the propaganda organisation to announce that the Absolute Leader would be making a speech that afternoon.

"What do you mean by 'you can't be here?'" Shadow asked, finding his words very strange. She was glad that he still cared about them, but his way of thinking she found very uncomfortable.

Zil looked back to Shadow and showed a faint smile as he fiddled with a silver ring on his finger. "Simply put, I might just go mad if these people die", he said. This was quite ironic as he had watched hundreds of his closest friends and family die since the eve of the war that soon consumed the entire continent. Slowly, the smile faded from his face and the sorrow of a thousand deaths and mourning shone on his face that was before always was a mask to hide the real feelings inside. He was rather disheartened by Shadow's previous answer about wanting to stay and live through to see Damien's fall although he wished not to discuss it any further. He heaved another sigh and rested his head on his palm, looking again at the open window as though hope was showering down from it. "I am tired".
"That's what old enemies once said", she said under her breath as a subtle form of warning as she closed the door behind her. By enemies, she meant the previous government.

"Humph" Damien said, then stood up. He walked over to the window and looked down. "No one can stop me. I own this country...and soon the rest of the world will follow" he said to himself, the last part with a slight smirk. He then walked over to a globe he had on a table and spun it. "All of it" he added.
