Lucius had awoken refreshed after a full night's sleep, and was ready to show the superiority of his house by simply being, well, himself. He was good at that, if nothing else.

Today, however, he had more to do than enjoy himself. While he wasn't entirely certain which part of the conversation last night - or rather, which part of his words, precisely, had annoyed Narcissa - he was well aware that she was, in fact, annoyed.

Malfoy, being a clever git, realised that a certain 'gift' he had been planning for her could just as easily be used to win back her appreciation as it could be to increase said appreciation of him.

He'd have preferred if it did the latter, but with the situation as it was..

Thankfully, Snape had been so kind as to provide him with the Cliff Notes of the assignment, and he would have no real trouble fixing up something adequate well before their assigned study period would end.

And then, he would go Ravenclaw-hunting.

For now, though, he had three stomachs to fill.

"Well, let's go, then. You two can try to out-eat one another again while I have a chat with McNair." He had intended to talk to the other anyway, and if Narcissa wasn't in the mood to talk to him, he'd rather it not look too obvious to the rest of the school, thank you very much. He, unlike some people, had a reputation to uphold..

As it so happened, McNair was seated near Severus Snape. Close, but not close enough to warrant talking to one another. Malfoy presumed that neither minded much, really, but he supposed he could grace both of them with his presence at once..

And perhaps ask Snape some questions in regards to the fourth line of the notes. The information presented there seemed counter-intuitive somehow.. And, really, that was just not on, people..

Peter woke to a groan that sounded like Remus. Realizing the time, he quickly jumped out of his bed and began preparing for his day.
He was excited for the day. He knew he’d be going to Transfiguration which he has always believed ti be the most fascinating class. Peter walked out of the bathroom and noticed that he was the only one in the room.
“Shoot! I hope they didn’t go to breakfast without me!” He squeaked to himself. Peter raced down the stairs hoping he’d find Remus, James, and Sirius in the common room. He had no such luck. Peter quickly walked down to the Great Hall where he saw the three of them sitting. Peter took a seat next to James and quickly began piling food on his plate.

Minerva McGonagall woke bright and early, like every other morning. She began preparing her materials for her fifth year class, her first class this morning. Today, she planned on lecturing about the Inanimatus Conjurus spell today. Maybe, even have the students start performing it if they looked prepared enough.
After finishing her notes in her class planner, Minerva made her way to the Great Hall and sat down next to Professor Dumbledore. After greeting him and exchanging a few pleasantries, Minerva began eating her breakfast.

James tried very hard to notice that Lily had taken the seat almost directly across from him. He focussed on his food almost rabidly until Remus sat down, addressing him.

"So, you're alive?"

He let out a quick bark of laughter. "That I am, though a little worse for wear." Without preamble, and as soon as Peter had seated himself, he launched into his story, though, conscious of Lily, he left out a few of the more descriptive details he would usually have put in to spice up the story. "Needless to say, this bench is killing me." Laughing again, he shoveled a bit of quiche out onto his plate and began to peck at it, stealing glances at Lily.

"So, transfig today, then, yeah? You taking it, Lily?" He decided to address her, rather than continue on acting like a stalker at her. She was probably beginning to get a little cross with him.

"When we come face-to-face with one down a dark alley, we're going to be having a shufti to see if it's solid, aren't we, we're not going to be asking,"

Peter held onto every word James said. He just loved how exciting his tales always were. Peter swore James could even take the book Hogwarts: A History and make it sound amazing.

"'Excuse me, are you the imprint of a departed soul?'"

Gilderoy woke from his sleep, pleasantly refreshed. He glanced around his room, noticing that everything was as it had been the previous night, no sign of Dempsy. He slowly slid out of bed and dragged himself over to his vanity. He just couldn't believe that Dempsy was still missing. What was that Skeeter woman doing? Didn't she understand how important Dempsy was? He sat down, lip quivering, before looking up at his frowning reflection. Gilderoy couldn't blame it really. He became a pathetic sight once he remembered Dempsy was missing.

His reflection got tilted its head to the side, observing its silent counterpart. It shook its head one time to clear any cobwebs, placed its hands on its hips, and then began shouting. "Gilderoy Lockhart, what is the matter with you? You are the hottest guy in this entire school, and here you are sitting in your room mopping like some unattractive individual! What I need you to do is get pull yourself together! You are Gilderoy Lockhart, self proclaimed hot guy, owner of hair that would make a model jealous, and desired by every female in school as well as some of the guys. What happened to the guy who was confident and self sufficient? You need to go you there and project the beauty and radiance that everyone knows and expects from you. Besides darling, I am a reflection of you, and when you looked under the weather, I look under the weather, and quite frankly, I just can’t have that. And neither will you. Now go Gilderoy, make us both proud and beautiful!”

Gilderoy took what his reflection said to heart. Isn’t that what the Skeeter woman had said as well? He took a deep breath, then everything was alright. Gilderoy proceeded to ready himself, sure to be on time for transfiguration.

"So transfig today, then, yeah? You taking it, Lily?"

Lily had gone off into her own little world. She shook her head and looked up. "Huh? ...Oh, Transfiguration. Yeah, I have it."

She blinked a tad and smiled faintly. "Speaking of which... I need my things. See you guys in class."

Narcissa couldn't take it anymore. This whole actually doing her homework thing was both boring and tiring. It was really taking it's toll on her, even if it was just the first days' homework.

Alright, so it wasn't entirely the homeworks' fault that she was tired. She had spent a lot of time lying in bed thinking about how she had acted towards Lucius. She knew that she had overreacted; not that she would ever, even under the pain of the Cruciatus Curse, say out loud that she was wrong. Regardless, she had come to realize that she had tried covering up her worry with anger, with an ending result that could be very bad if she didn't apologize. Which she wouldn't do, because that would mean acknowledging that she had done something wrong... Which she would never do.

So now she sat at her desk, getting more annoyed by the second because of how stupid she was acting. She had gave up attempting her homework long ago because she couldn't stop thinking about other things and she was hungry. However, she didn't want to go to breakfast because he might be there. Not that she didn't want to see him, she just didn't want to find out that hehated her was mad at her for the way she had acted.

She couldn't decide which was worse. Being hungry and bored, or Lucius finding out how worried she had been. She supposed she shouldn't be fretting so much. Besides, he should feel honored that she had been worried about his well being.

Coming to a final decision, she put all her things into a neat pile, checked her appearance in the mirror and walked out of her room. There were a few people still in the common room, but no one of importance. She continued, and was in the Great Hall in no time. Once she arrived at the end of her table, she surreptitiously looked for where Lucius was seated, spotting him in no time. She decided to sit near him, but no too close. And also on the opposite side of the table. Once seated, she continued to watch him out of the corner of her eye, occupying herself by grabbing some fruit and toast and making it appear as if she were ignoring him.

Rita smiled as she adhered the last poster to a column. This was going to be wonderful. The various flyers held the names of her fellow classmates, but no pictures, at the time. One Ravenclaw was listed, Sybil Trewlawny, one Gryffindor, Kingsley Shacklebolt, one Slytherin, the infamous Lucius Malfoy, and the gaggle of hufflepuffs, Derek Abbot, Edgar Bones, Alice Wilkes, Lucy McCartney, and of course, one couldnt forget Dempsy. Hopefully people would converse with her soon so she could get to the bottom of this missing people. Rita clasped her hands together, silently aplauding her hard work. Picking her bag up from the floor, Rita headed back towards the common room to put up her supplies and grab her stuff for transfiguration.

Remus looked down nervously when Sirius didn't respond, concentrating on his breakfast. Thankfully, James started telling everyone about his marvelous adventure. Quickly, he ate then nodded to the rest of the guys, muttering something about having to get a start on their schoolwork, and he hurried up the Gryffendor common room. By the time he reached the portrait he had a million things swarming through his head about Sirius' non-reaction at breakfast. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to put it out of his mind for now, entering the common room and getting his books together.

Pulling a book into his lap and opening it, he started the arduous task.

James frowned after Lily's abrupt departure, rather put-out by the way she reacted. "Yeah, see ya," he said feebly to the air which had been occupied by Lily. He poked at his scrambled eggs on his plate before finally pushing it aside. "What was all that about, then?" he asked, rather crossly, to no one in particular.

He turned his head towards Remus, who had muttered something unintelligible and had hastily removed himself from the table. He goggled at his disappearing frame for a moment, but then decided that he had been at breakfast for rather longer than was necessary. "I suppose, Sirius, mate. Let's head back up to the common room for a bit of R&R before transfig. Pete, you coming?" And without waiting for a reply, he set off for the dorm, trying to puzzle out why Sirius and Remus were acting rather off.

Peter quickly stood up, which caused him to hit his knee into the table, upsetting many of the goblets around him. Muttering a string of curse words under his breath, Peter ran off to catch up with James.
"Hey there, James!" Peter exclaimed brightly, "Is everything okay? You seemed a bit off a breakfast." All the while Peter was practically jogging to keep up with James' quick pace.

"Hey there, James! Is everything okay? You seemed a bit off a breakfast."

James glanced over at Pete, too irritated by Lily's snub of him to slow his pace. "Where does that Evans bird come off? Every other girl at this school would die to have me even look at them!" He brushed a stray lock of hair out of his eyes, annoyed. "Honestly!" Quickening his pace and hoping Pete would catch the drift and lag behind with Sirius, James stormed off, heading for the common room. Upon arriving in front of the portrait, he snapped the password at the Fat Lady, who muttered "Ungrateful boy!" and swung open sullenly. He stepped inside the dormitory and huffed down into a chair, all theatrics, waiting for the others, and quite forgetting Remus was already there and had probably seen his display just now.

Severus noticed Lucius sit down, but didn't acknowledge him besides a small glance in his direction. He wasn't really the type to cordially greet a person, anyway. Taking some kippers and a piece of toast onto his plate, he concentrated on them, hoping to get away quickly before someone struck up a conversation that would warrant his needing to take part. He grabbed for his goblet of pumpkin juice and managed to knock it over all over the biscuit platter. Scowling at the sound of the guffaws going on around him, he righted the glass and poured himself another, taking a long pull from it. He then quickly got up from the table, straightened his robes, and made an I'm-trying-to-appear-nonchalant dash for the common room with what little he had left of his dignity.
