(Sorry! Life has been difficult and this rp has been going under my radar because of it)
Chief didn't know how she could help but by calling the police. "I-I'm going to call the police and see what that can do. You have to regain your strength somehow... Your true love is in danger and his life could very well be as well!" She said as she hastily ran to the phone to call the police and tell them what happened.

Despite the urgency of the situation, Leila couldn't help but smile and shake her head at Chef's romanticism. "True love? Someone's been reading too many romance novels," she muttered to herself. The older woman hadn't taken the note from Leila, so she decided to see if Nicholas's father might recognize the handwriting.

Chief called the police and then Nick's father to come home urgently, not telling him why. He did so and returned a mere twenty minutes later. "What happened, what was so urgent to make me come back home?" He asked, slightly angered, but mostly concerned and confused.

Leila handed him the ransom note. "This is what," she said. She'd gone into soldier-mode, which meant that she wasn't intimidated by his anger, and nor was she going to lower her gaze like a normal slave would.

He took the note and read it, his eyes which were first a tad angry with a hint of concern, were now filled with shock and hate. "What is this!? Why is it here!? Where is Nicholas?! Where is my son!?!" He all over the place, unable to keep his cool from a experience like this.

"I don't know. That's why Mrs. Fien called you." Mrs. Fien was the cook's real name. "She's also called the police. You wouldn't happen to recognize the handwriting on that note, I take it, sir?"

His father looked over the note once more scanning the handwriting. He looked back to her and shook his head. "No, this isn't anyones handwriting I've ever seen. I keep track of all of my associates and rivals handwriting for the sake of business and I have yet to see this one." He said to her. The police showed up, the maid letting them in. "Good morning. We were informed that there was a kidnapping, correct?" The officer asked, getting straight to the point with this serious topic of discussion.

"A hired hand, then." When the officer entered, Leila nodded to him. "Yes. This man's son, Nicholas Alexander. The boy was under my charge. This was used to render me unconscious so he could be taken without fuss." She showed the officer the dart she still held, careful not to p***k herself with it again. "The kidnapper also left a note."

The officer looked over the dart as well as the note, his expression not changing for either. He then gave a nod. "Well, it seems he's at it once more." The officer said, looking at Leila. "The man who shot you is a wanted man charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and assisted kidnapping. We call him at the station "Sniper Joe", his real name unknown." He said to them giving a sigh. "We've been trying to track down this hired convict for a year now with no evidence of getting closer." He said, shaking his head. "We'll do out best to try to find your son Mr. Alexander. For now, just sit tight and don't do anything that'll make us want you behind bars." He said and gave his goodbyes before leaving.

"Serial kidnapper?" Leila said softly. She hoped the felon's past victims had been retrieved without harm, but that was irrelevant right now. Right now she had to find Nicholas, and fast. But how? Far as she could tell, there hadn't been any clue to his whereabouts aside from that damn note.

As soon as the police left, the phone rang, the caller id not showing up on the phone. One of the maids picked it up. "Hello? What?!? Oh!" The maid hurriedly handed the phone over to Nick's dad. "I-it's the kidnapper..." She said, handing him the phone. "Yes..." "Why hello there Mr. Alexander. I hope you read the note and that your servant enjoyed her nap." The kidnapper said, the conversation able to heard by the others. "Where is my son!?" His father asked harshly. "Hey hey, no need to be so harsh sounding. Your son is fine. He's taking a nice long nap. Now I've been told to call to tell you something I forgot to add in the note. I want some cash. Not much. Say... two million? That should be an easy deal for you, even with the, sudden closing of your well established company." He said, getting Nick's dad angered.

(How 'bout having Nicholas's dad say something that'll make Leila have to take the phone away from him?)
