The doctor stared at the tank, looking obsessed with Shadow. Her hair had grown long and her underwear had rotted off months ago. Still, her youthful appearance hadn't changed and neither had her muscles. "You know, Leader, I've grown rather fond of her company. She hasn't been out of that tank in over a year, but she has such spirit. I keep having to change the drug to keep her that way because sometimes she surprises me." He chuckled like a psycho. "Well, to the point, we have partially succeeded. We can extend your life beyond normal human capacity. As to her inhuman resistance to chemicals, that is actually her true DNA, not implemented DNA. In other words, when we tried implanting that gene in prisoners, it created strange side effects. Their hair color and eye color started changing, and their brains started changing. Ultimately, parts of themselves that we didn't want to change were changing.

"Well, for the chemical resistant DNA, it started changing the chemical reactions in the brain to something similar to her own. They all started becoming more crafty, rebellious and hard to contain. One prisoner managed to get passed the medical unit and had to be shot down." The doctor said, putting a hand on the tank and staring at her body. "The deciding point was that there were some prisoners who stood strictly for beliefs who began questioning them. If we implemented her DNA into soldiers, they also might begin to harbor such foolish ideas. Anyway, that has nothing to do with the DNA that increases one's lifespan. That gene, when implemented, had no side effects. We've managed to turn it into somewhat of an art. All you need is a shot once a week, and after a month, immortality is achieved."

"Yes. 50 successes and no failures with that technique." The doctor replied. "... would you like to talk to her? She can hear you and can speak but I can hardly get her to say a word." He said, knocking on the glass.

Shadow slowly opened her eyes, sensitive to the vibrations on the glass. She looked pained when she saw the doctor again, feeling dirty. She curled into a ball in the tank and turned away from the pair, not wanting to see either of them.

"I think she's embarrassed. Isn't that cute." He chuckled.

"Yes sir." The doctor replied. The doctors left the room to let Damien be alone with her.

Shadow was silent for a moment, still not looking at him. "... it could be worse." She replied tersely.

"Out? You aren't thinking about giving me to that bats*** crazy doctor are you?" She asked. "If that's the case, I'd rather stay in! I swear he comes in here almost every night to watch me and tell me all of his bizarre porno fantasies and then told me that as soon as I get out of the tank, he's going to have sex with me while I'm still too drugged up to fight him off." She told him. "I mean, being in the tank is bad enough, but ugg!"
