He would lift his halberd skyward, gripped tightly in his hands, the steel glinting from the sun's rays.

STANDARD ACTION
He would rotate the weapon ninety degrees so the sharpened axe no longer faced his target, but instead, the flat of the blade, and he would slam it down hard upon the crown of the soldier's head the ground next to the soldier with a loud thud.

He would look back Corsica, hoping she took note of his effort to subdue, not kill. And as long as he was pressed, he would continue that course of action.
What the soldiers made of it, well, that's entirely up to them, as he regripped his weapon, ready for defense.

The Sisters' Gambit 
Initiative order
Nathaniel:
Corsica: Blinded
Ying: Marked by S10, Weakened
Hakka: HP 35/42 Weakened
Kuori: HP 28/38 DR 4
Gloom: HP 41/41
Soldiers: S15 Bloodied
Revenge: HP 24/47 Marked by S6
Lieutenants: L1 Bloodied, Slowed L2, -2 attack Grabbed, Bloodied L4. Weakend, ongoing 10 poison damage
After Revenge misses his attack, the lieutenants spring into action.
L1 frantically tries to wiggle out of Corsica's pincers, but is unable to escape her iron grasp. He then produces a dagger and stabs at her twice but cannot pierce her naturally armored limbs. He calls out to the captain, every one of his words a struggle. "Nathaniel... get her off... She's... killing me..."
L2 finally regains use of his body. He growls at Ying as he tries to lash out at her with his claws, but is too tightly bound by her body to make the attacks connect. He then struggles against her grasp and with his tremendous strength manages to break free.
L3 launches his twin-bolted attack, attacking Hakka once again and Ying as well. Both attacks hit their marks, causing the dark electricity to ripple over their bodies and sap their strength. (Hakka takes 7 lightning and necrotic damage and is weakened)
L4 sighs at being reminded of his true target. He shifts up to Ying to stab her with his rapier but not before taking a pot shot at Kuori with his hand crossbow. Unfortunately his bad luck returns and both of his attacks miss.
Nathaniel sighs himself. Still cloaked in shadowy energies, he disappears. A bolt of necrotic energy strikes Corsica, sending her reeling. She drops L1 as she is pushed back ten feet and collapses to the ground. Her eyes are clouded over.
Corsica quickly gets back to her feet, though. As before, her blindness does not seem to interfere with her awareness of her surroundings. She looks back at Kuori and nods. "I'm entrusting his end to you then." Corsica then faces towards those attacking her sister. Her deadly-looking scorpion tail uncurls high into the air. Up until now, she has neglected to use it. That was about to change. "I was hoping your captain would be the first to experience the pain of this stinger, but I guess you'll have to do." With lightning speed, Corsica's tail whips out from her and her ten-inch long stinger pierces deep into the back of L4. He screams in pain as the poison is pumped into him.
Ying winces as L4 screams, but her resolve stays resolute. She curls back around L2 again and begins to crush him. However, in her weakened state, her attack does not seem as effective as usual.

Hakka didn't understand just why she wasn't regaining her strength, but that shocky thing that hit her was still crackling over her. Without the gaping bolt wound in her chest, she could pay more attention to it.Once again, she hurled a volley of shuriken at L2 (23 vs AC, 8 Damage), L1 (21 vs AC, 4 Damage), and S15 (13 vs AC, 4 Damage), However, she just couldn't seem to send that last one far enough due to her sapped strength.
(Damage already halved for being weakened, and as always, those hit are slowed and those dropped to 10 HP or less are snuffed

Hakka beans both L1 and L2 with her shuriken, but S15 dodges the attack. Expecting an attack from the goliath after her proclamation, L1 manages to dodge her incoming arrows. L4 grits his teeth in pain but manages to just barely parry Gloom's attack. "Don't think I'm out of this yet."
All the soldiers around Ying continue to attack her, yet she agilely manages to dodge all their attacks. S6 shifts up to the paladin and wounds him with his sword. S7, seeing that the Revenge is about finished, moves off to help his comrades with the centipede girl. He charges Ying and stabs her deep between two of her armored plates.

Revenge does not shift back this time, but simply, holding his grip on his halberd's shaft further up the length, so there's slightly less of an arc with his weapon, as he attempts to smack the flat of it into the soldier's ribcage.

Lieutenants: L1 Bloodied, Slowed L2, Grabbed, Bloodied, slowed L4. Bloodied
(Yes, it was 7 damage) Revenge lands a sound hit on S6, knocking the wind out of him a bit through his chainmail armor.
L1 summons sharp rocks from underneath Corsica's feet and binds her in place once more. "I'll keep her here. Stay out of her range and finish off her sister."
L2 manages to wiggle himself free from Ying and lashes at her with his claws but his natural weapons seem to struggle to pierce her tough exoskeleton.
L3 launches his twin bolts at both the sisters but does not manage to hit either of them.
L4 groans in pain as Corsica's deadly poison seeps through his body. (L4 is bloodied). He shifts one square and stabs Gloom with his rapier, but he seems to be in too much pain from the poison to strike with much force (4 damage). He then shifts one more square and fires his hand crossbow at Ying, though his shot misses. Finally, L4 seems to shake off the poison as the pain fades from his face.
Nathaniel's bolt of shadow energy strikes Ying, blinding her and knocking her prone. "Yes, focus on Lelena." He would also add in, tauntingly, "In fact, I'm not sure if we even need her alive. Our necromancers are quite... advanced."
Corsica tugs at the earth binding her feet but it does not budge. She is too far away to reach anyone. Her pincers clack angrily as she yells at Nathaniel. "Just leave her alone! I will tear you all to pieces! You hear me? To pieces!" Corsica raises her spear over her head and throws it with tremendous force. With great speed it flies across the battlefield before embedding itself deep in Nathaniel's chest. The captain seems to be completely caught off guard by this as he gasps for air. She might have punctured one of his lungs!
Ying stands up wraps herself around L2 and crushes him in her grasp once more.

Hakka feels her strength return finally, and she lets out a growl from deep in her throat when the commander of these soldiers urges them on to kill her friend. There's a sort of grim satisfaction in her expression, however, when she saw the man take the spear through the chest. That was certainly an impressive throw. "Now to do my part," she growled, readying another volley of blades and loosing them at L4 (19 vs. AC, 9 Damage), L2 (26 vs. AC, 17 Damage), and L1 (23 vs. AC, 9 Damage). She hoped in particular that it was enough to finish the second one off, as she wanted to save Ying the heartache of snuffing out a life. She then fell back a bit to give herself some room to maneuver (L12).
(as always, those hit are slowed and those reduced to 10HP or less die)
