Sophie was quickly scanning book bar codes and swiping cards. The kids certainly were eager to get on their way. She hoped class hadn't been too trying for them.

Max opened the cover for Miss Castleman, and waited while she passed the lit up wand over the barcode and swiping that neat student card thing he'd gotten on enrollment.

Quinn opened her book next and presented it neatly for Miss Castleman. Her card was swiped through and she watched as the system logged her in. "It's so efficient" she thought. Wondering at why the rest of the country couldn't get it's act together.


Her next class was science and downstairs. Followed by P.E. If the rest of her classes turned out to be as lax as this one though, she'd have a lot of open space in her day. Even now they had a half an hour to kill.

She supposed she could go check out that rather gothic looking library she'd been shown on the day before.

Once Spencer had everything done, he headed off to economics class. What a semester this was going to be.


Dr. Sullivan checked his patient list for the day and noticed some new names. They must be new students. He informed the receptionist to call down his next patient as he took his tools into the sterilization room.

An announcement was made for Max to head down to the dentist office in ten minutes.

Max sighed when he heard his name called. He hasn't even actually skipped a class yet. What could he possibly be in trouble for??

Quinn quirked her head at the announcement, wondering if it was the Max she knew

She popped out of the main building and took the few flat smooth steps down to the path that led to the library.

Spencer heard the announcement calling Max to the dentist. He hoped for his sake that the new student didn't have any cavities.


Dr. Sullivan got a few things ready, then headed back to the sterilization room while the assistant finished up.

Max took his time finding the dental office, not on purpose. He just had no idea where anything was on campus that wasn't the cafeteria or the pool.

Pulling open the large oval pointed doors, Quinn stuck her head into the interior. This place was amazing! She quickly let herself inside and went to go look around.

"Ah, good. You are Max right? Go right on in" the receptionist said to Max once he entered the waiting room.

Dr. Sullivan was still in the sterilisation room.

Max started and paused briefly before continuing on his way to the inner office. He hadn't noticed the receptionist lady noticing him.

HE gave a mild shake to his head and cautiously knocked on the inner office door before opening it and poking his head in.

It was a bright room, plenty of windows, that little sink and reclining chair. ...

but no dentist.....

Max cautiously entered and looked around.

Quinn went to check out the top most level, but realized halfway through her exploration of the staircase of the library that she'd past the half way point on her half hour of free time. Deciding not to waste any more she picked a floor and stuck with it.

The assistant was over by the counter. "Ah, you must be the next patient. Have a seat" she said and moved the dentist chair arm back for Max to get in. "Since you're new here we'll start with X-rays."

Max sat down, clearly not awake anymore. He should have used his break for a nap, and never would have heard the announcement. He hate dthat tooth tray that separated the teeth for the x-ray. It always dug into his cheek or throat.

Quinn picked a book up and sat her bag down to take a look. She felt a breeze along the nape of her neck and didn't think twice about it. Despite the fact her hair was down.

The assistant placed the x-ray cover over Max and pulled on a pair of medical gloves. She took an x-ray on both sides of Max's head. "I'll go develop these and Dr. Sullivan should be in in just a moment or two" she said once that was done. She then left the room.

Max nodded quietly and sat back. A slow sigh escaped from him as he looked out the skylight. He tried to relax and not fall asleep, but it was a battle not meant to be won.

Quinn sat down and turned a few pages. She checked her watch then figured she could read a few pages to see how much she wanted a book this soon into the semester.

She was a few pages in when she thought she heard her name, followed by a kind of whispered giggle.

Looking up though, she was alone. She turned back to her book and tried to find where she'd been, but it wasn't until a ghostly finger pointed to the exact phrase that she found it again.

Quinn then promptly flipped the book out of her hands in surprise and stood up. Almost falling over AND embarrasing herself even further by giving off the girliest scream she thought she'd ever heard, let alone actually produced.

The book caught itself as it was over half way through its rotating arc towards the floor. It closed gently and placed itself nicely on the table beside the chair where she'd been reading.

Turning and leaving seemed a really good option to Quinn right then, but being made of sterner stuff she simply breathed out through pursed lips and calmly picked up her bag. .....Again tempted to leave she suddenly remembered what the schoopl was for and quickly looked around for any manipulation students.....but then remembered she was alone.....

still she poked the book, and after she'd shifted it a scant inch and had no retalitaion cautiously picked it back up.


She'd just....go ask the librarian. ....Or something.

Dr. Sullivan entered into his office and fixed his necktie in the mirror. He then walked over to his patient in the chair. "You must be Max" he said while putting the dental bib over Max. The dentist then took a seat and pressed a button that made the dentist chair go back. "I remember you. I was standing behind you in the cafeteria line at breakfast" he said before pulling up his medical mask.

Max snapped out of his semi-sleep as the chair started to go down. Just in time to hear the comment about breakfast. Speaking of which, he was hungry. Instead he said "Oh yeah, Hello Sir." He wondered then if he'd be able to eat in time for lunch after this,

Quinn was amazed. She had never figured on a haunted aspect of the school. But it was SO COOL. Once she'd figured out she wasn't being taunted by some upper classman Ira it was really neat to learn about the ghosts at Iris. The librarian had said much of their story wasn't exactly scholar friendly, but that the ghosts were much happier since last year, and probably just liked her if they had paid any attention to her at all.

Probably because of her eyes the librarian had thought. They use to like another girl with a shadow capable Ira.

Dr. Sullivan put on his safety glasses. "So, are you having any problems with your teeth or gums? Any pain or inflammation?" he asked while pulling on a pair of medical examination gloves. The dentist then positioned his examination light over his patient.

"Uh, no." Max said settling in to his seat. He'd just had a checkup at the start of summer. Nothing new since then had cropped up. Unless pool water had an effect on enamel.
