The Machine [Open/Accepting]

"Good" Damien said. "So I assume that no X-rays will be necessary to determine anything?"

"Yes sir. None would be nessary." The doctor told him.

"In that case, can I have my clothes back now?" She asked, folding her arms and looking uncomfortable as she was

Damien nodded and Shadow's clothes were given back to her after the soldiers inspected them for any wires or devices. "Yes, you may get dressed now" he said.

"Thanks..." She mumbled before snatching back her clothes and scrambling to get them back on.

"Well now that that's over, I shall be back in a bit with your dinner" Damien said. He then left with the doctors and a couple of the soldiers while Shadow was locked back up.

Shadow said nothing and sat back on the floor, looking at the doctors and soldiers behind the bars of the cell. As soon as Damien had left the room, she felt an overwhelming awkward silence. "So... ... ... anyone know any jokes?" She asked.

The soldiers didn't reply to Shadow, worried they'd be reprimanded if they did.


Damien headed down to the senior officer dining hall for dinner as he always did. He would bring Shadow down food, but only what was left over in the kitchen after the meal.

Shadow said nothing and just looked at the silent soldiers. "Well this is awkward..." She muttered, waiting for Damien to hurry up and get back.

Damien got some of what was left over from the meal placed in a styrofoam container and took it down to Shadow with some plastic utensils. The guards opened the cell door so that he could take in in to her.

Shadow slowly turned her head when she saw Damien and stayed exactly where she was. "Hi..." She said, looking up at him as he walked over.

"So, do you want your food or not?" Damien asked. If she wanted it, she had to take it from him. He wasn't her waiter.

"Your guards and doctors don't know any good jokes." She told him with a disappointed face as she stood up and took the food. "What did you bring me?" She asked, opening up the box.

"They're just following orders and doing their jobs. Or maybe they don't know any jokes. You got what was left over in the kitchen" Damien said.
