Fast...
Henrietta tried to keep her eyes Petilil when a familiar warmth burned her leg. She jumped at looked down at Melty who looked at her with a look that said 'calm down.'
She nodded and closed her eyes. The opponent was trying to keep them from following. It would also hurt their accuracy to try and hit a moving target. In short, the only solution was to hit everywhere at once.
"Spread it out, Smog!" Henrietta said and Melty complied. If he took a moment to hold it in, he found, he could rocket it off and spread it out more. Sure, this would effect the accumulated area and likely lower the damage, but it'd let the smog disperse outward to reach Petilil despite her safe distance.
And Henrietta held her breath as she watched onward, waiting for Petilil's move.

[I understand that but I meant something along the lines of if there was a mountain path on twist mountain and some stumbles across a spot where certain pokemon in the area come to feed or die or something like that?]
Kijin lets out a soft sigh as he finally decided it was time to head for the next town maybe run into some more interesting pokemon along the way. He would give the top of his legs a slap as he springs up off the bench he gathers up his belongings and started down the road. He would reach for one of the pokeballs on his belt thinking of pulling out Tropious and Steelix but knowing how their night was he decided not too so he went with his other pokemon. He throws the pokeball in the air and unleashes Absol, most times he kept Absol in his pokeball when they were in town or on busy roads since people still consider Absol to bring disaster or at least warn them but right now he just wanted a companion.
"Alright Absol lets get going let see what else we find in this region." He says with a large grin on his face while looking at Absol, the pokemon would let out a cry of agreement then they start down the route onto the next town.
[Oh and I just now realized this but do we encounter the daycare and the kindergarten?]

((You can be creative with the route structures, but just make sure you avoid making up entirely new areas))
Luckily, Petilil was a small pokémon, so the vast body of the smog would settle above her. That which clung to the ground would be thinner and less horrible. She could still see, but things were foggy now. Her path to sunlight was being blocked off.
"M... Mega Drain the sky!" Wayne blurted out the command, as silly as it sounded, but it was what shot into his head. Petilil heard him; though he was yelling, to her it sounded like a serene voice speaking just behind her.
She sent a tower of green light upward, cutting through the smog and reaching up into the sky. Since there was no target, no energy was being absorbed.
Wayne yelled, "Release it!" and the Mega Drain attack collapsed. The green light seemed to explode, punching a big hole in the smog and clearing the area. All that was left of Melty's smog was a fine black mist in the rough shape of the milky way.
"Be ready!" Wayne commanded. Now that the sunlight was reaching Petilil again, she resumed her speed boost and would be prepared to dodge if Melty made an attack.

((Hrm, I wouldn't be so hasty to go to the next town. I say focus on gym battles today.))
One would have to cut Petilil short. That is to say, Henrietta had no intention of losing to Wayne twice.
As, as he gave the command that brought Mega drain down, Henrietta gave the command to attack.
"Fire Spin," she said and Melty complied. The spiral of fire raced off, to surround and torch the Petilil as the megadrain blew away the smog. The fire attack, luckily, wouldn't be so easily distorted or destroyed, and if it hit, it'd catch alight the Petilil and keep it stuck in the vortex of flames for some time.

Getting caught in the vortex of fire was a death sentence for a grass type like Petilil. Since Henrietta had timed the attack right, Fire Spin struck just as the Mega Drain cleared away Smog, colliding with Petilil and lifting her off the ground. She was thrown about, trapped in the vortex as the flames licked her body, singing and burning it.
"Get away!" Wayne commanded, and just as Petilil made a full revolution through the flame and touched the ground again, she forced off it, using her enhanced speed from Chlorophyll to give her the boost she needed to break free of the attack. The grass type pokémon flew through the air, sideways, while keeping her eyes on Melty. She didn't seem scared, not any more. She was determined.
"Synthesis," Wayne's clear voice spoke into her head and she absorbed sunlight, healing the majority of her wounds and leaving her with small scorch marks. That was twice she'd used that technique. Wayne grit his teeth: the pokédex told him she could only use it three more times.
At the speed she broke out of the fire at, Petilil would hit the ground running before Melty could finish the Fire Spin and launch another assault. While the fires still burned, Wayne ordered another, "Growth!"
Petilil's body radiated green light and she gained another massive boost in power. It was a gamble, but Wayne was confident that the boost in power would eventually overcome even Melty's flames.

Henrietta had taken it easy. Petilil was such a small, timid looking Pokemon that Henrietta felt she might understand that little thing. She didn't want to break her, she didn't want to make her useless to Wayne.
But she couldn't win, not like this.
"S-
The first rule of fire training is never apologize!
Henrietta softly smiled to herself. Chili was outrageous, funny, and smart. She'd take his words to heart.
She separated herself from Melty. If she was going to do this, she'd have to do it all in one hit.
the second rule is to never touch the fire. That's kinda important.
"Minimize," Henrietta said, "keep on it until the Pokemon attacks, then we'll finish this."
In one hit.
Melty complied, shrinking himself. If Petilil didn't attack? He'd do it again, until Joltiks were giants.

After Wayne left the Battle Girl on her own, Salieri sighed and rubbed the back of her head. First N, then Wayne. Turns out all the guys I meet so far are weird. Nevertheless, she was sure they’d be seeing each other a lot on their travels if they were both going to challenge the pokemon league.
With a shrug, she went inside of the breakfast shop anyway. “Good morning, trainer!” the jolly store owner behind the counter greeted. “What can I get you today?”
Salieri tapped her chin for a moment. She was feeding her whole team as well as herself, so she had to brainstorm a large order. A few seconds passed before Salieri looked up to the man behind the counter and gave him an equally jolly smile.
“Can I have two banana and peanut butter bagels-“ “Mmhmm,” the store owner chimed in, entering the price onto the cash register. “A fruit salad-“ “One fruit salad.” “Fifty bagels.” “Fifteen bagels.” “Uh, no, I said fifty.”
The store owner looked up for a moment, raising an eyebrow as he sized up Salieri. She was relatively small for a girl her age. Still, the customer is always right. “…fifty bagels…”
Salieri smiled, oblivious to the cashier’s confusion, and continued. “And four of the biggest Basculin steaks you’ve got and a gallon of milk, please…actually, can you make that a hundred bagels?”
****
On the outskirts of town between the city and Route Three, Salieri tossed the bag that used to hold her banana and peanut butter bagels into the trash. It was important to have proper nutrition in order to endure Salieri’s workouts. But I’ll probably have to get more food later if we do more training today, Sal thought to herself as she sat down on the bench on the side of the road to eat her fruit salad. She tilted her head over to her pokemon.
“Hey, how’s the food?”
Salem happily gave a meow like cry to Sal in response. The bones of a Basculin the size of the Eevee who ate it lay next to her, and in front of Salem was a half empty saucer of milk she began to drink once more. Liuye Dao nodded to Salieri and three the remains of the other three Basculin he had just eaten out into the forest to be decomposed.
“Yaaaaaa,” Chen Zhen sighed as he looked into the bagel bag to see if there were anymore. He frowned, flipping the back upside down and shaking it in a gesture of defeat.
“I guess a Pokemon with Gluttony is never satisfied. Chen Zhen, your appetite is like a black hole,” Salieri joked as she rose her salad fork to her mouth. “I bet you could eat anything.”
Chen Zhen tilted his head to the side and looked up to the sky in thought, imagining the scenario. Hmmm, that would be pretty neat…
Salieri swallowed the end of her meal and exhaled a satisfied breath. She got up and tossed away the rest of the garbage before turning to face her pokemon. “I heard that this route’s got a cave I want to try training at. Are you guys ready for more?”
Liuye Dao said nothing, simply crossing his arms in front of his chest and meeting his trainer’s eyes. Chen Zhen and Salem just looked at each other for a moment before turning to Salieri. Chen Zhen frowned and Salem let out a huge sigh, showing her exasperation. Sal rubbed the back of her head. “Hmm, I guess we can take a break for a while. Just a walk is fine.”
And so the team began to traverse down Route 3. Along the way, they spotted Wayne and a familiar looking girl battling. Salieri could have sworn she had seen those two together before. Regardless, a battle was still a battle. Even if Wayne wasn’t using Hitmonlee, the techniques of other trainers were important to study.
“Ditching me for another girl? I see how it is,” Salieri said to Wayne in a joking manner as she walked up to the lakeside, her pokemon following as she stood to observe the battle. She was curious to see if he’d respond and break his concentration, but she didn’t expect him to. Wayne’s Petilil was familiar to her, as she recalled the time it helped to heal Eunmi’s Oshawott.
The Battle Girl used her pokedex to identify the other pokemon. “Litwick’s pretend to be guides and then absorbs it’s victim’s life force with it’s light to fuel it’s body,” she read to herself, the description becoming more and more incredulous as it went on. “That little thing? That’s crazy.”
Perhaps being cute is to help trick people? I’ll have to keep that in mind.

"Man, this forest is huge," the black haired trainer said, craning his head to look about the trees. They crawled with bugs, which scurried from branch to branch, sometimes noticing the human who was walking through their turf.
Pinwheel Forest. Wayne was travelling through on his way to Nuvema Town. He went at a leisurely pace and it'd be three days before he finally reached his destination. A sweet scent caught his attention and he left the beaten path to explore the maze-like forests, his interest piqued.
Vile hissing noises came from a small clearing. As Wayne pushed through the bushes and onto the other side, he spotted a trio of Venipede ganging up on a quivering little Petilil. He paused for a second, watching quietly. The grass type released a pink-tinted mist, which smelled sickly-sweet. For a second, Wayne felt lulled into a dull awareness, but seeing the Venipede attack quickly snapped him out of it.
"Hey! Hey away from her!" he roared, running out and standing between the bulb pokémon and the poisonous bugs. He stared them down and the pokémon eventually lost the will to fight and fled, scurrying back into the bush.
"Phew," Wayne ran his fingers through his hair, looking back at Petilil, putting on a grin, "You okay?"
_________ PRESENT DAY
"Sweet Scent," Wayne commanded and Petilil released the pink mist that, once it reached Melty, would cause his reaction time to lower. Even if he was smaller, if he couldn't dodge in time it didn't make a difference.
Petilil raced towards Melty, the sweet scent following her like a misty cloak, keeping her movement in a zig zag pattern in case the fire type attacked.
"Sleep Powder!"
She'd make to get in close so that the scent could be effective and, once she was in range, spray a cloud of Sleep Powder at Melty while keeping on the move, prepared to dodge should she be met with a fire attack.
Meanwhile, Wayne had barely even registered that Salieri was present. He was just too into the battle to notice anything else.

Henrietta was safe from the attack area now. Melty was also ridiculously tiny. She couldn't do much about the Sweet Scent if she wanted to win, but she'd left Melty with the order to 'prepare ignite'.
It was a powerful attack, but Henrietta was sure that Petilil could survive it. Truth be told, she felt lucky, but she also recalled that Cress had said the Tropius was decimated by it. Not by the fire, but by the shockwave. She'd dropped two Pokemon in one hit.
So how powerful was it? Were Kijin's pokemon secretly weaklings? Now was the time to find out.
Petilil attacked, the distance between them closed. Sweet Scent slowed his evasiveness, but he didn't need that. The sleep powder would hit the gaseous wall of Smog.
But the attack didn't even begin to end there. The sleep powder was roasted as smog caught alight, and then came the explosion of Ignite. If Petilil was too close, she'd be caught in the flames, otherwise it was likely the shockwave would throw her.
And Henrietta was prepared for that. The direction that Petilil would be thrown would be called on a 'something-o-clock' positioning system for flamethrower, or the exact wording example would be "three o clock flame thrower!"
In short, Henrietta planned to remove Petilil's footing and then burn her all in one go.

Darting back, Petilil avoided the initial smog and the immediate incineration. She was met with the shockwave, however and was sent spinning in a direction that didn't really matter. Thanks to already moving away, Petilil effectively rolled with the shock's punch and avoided being harmed. Once she touched down and Henrietta gave her order, she began her counterattack.
Dodging the Flamethrower was a simple matter when Henrietta was giving such vague instructions. The necessity for a time on the clock style of command assumed that there was something blocking Melty's line of sight, likely his own ball of flame. Petilil would speed across the battlefield, keeping her distance from the stream of Flamethrower so that Melty couldn't just readjust slightly to hit her, and quickly closed the gap between herself and her opponent.
Just as the ball of flame ate itself into nothing and the view began to clear, Petilil broke through, tiny fragments of flame licking at her body and floating off into wisps. She skidded sideways against the ground, looking at Melty with a determined face.
With Melty affected by Sweet Scent, she was confident that he wouldn't be able to readjust his aim in time to strike her and launched a close range "Mega Drain!" with a four stage boost behind it. Or in other words, it would effectively be a super effective hit against the fire type.

Henrietta didn't intend to wait for readjustment. The Petilil had made the mistake of getting too close. A backward movement ready to dodge had let it escape, albeit barely, a forward motion was the end of it.
"Smog!" Henrietta gave the order and the gas would spread as Megadrain moved through. Smog would surround Petilil in the time it took the light to also reach its target.
An Petilil would begin to reap the benefits of the drain when it all "Ignite!"d. In short, one attack hitting meant the other would as well, but Petilil, despite the power boost, had a much bigger guillotine to face in the end.

Mega Drain collided with Smog as it filled up the air before them, cutting through as it had done previously. Wayne ordered a "Release!" and Petilil once again forced her Mega Drain to cancel and explode. Even if the flames took hold of the smog immediately, Mega Drain kept it from reaching Petilil as the fire erupted and before it could surround her, the released Mega Drain would scatter the explosion.
Or in other words, the smog would circle around the two, caught on fire, but do no damage before extinguishing. Mega Drain had more power behind it thanks to Petilil's use of Growth, letting it force away the flame.
Even if it wasn't being used conventionally, the power behind Mega Drain was exploding in Melty's face, striking as a wave of light with explosive force behind it, preventing an immediate use of Smog by blasting any new ones away before they could form properly.
Given the nature of the unconventional attack, it should affect Melty in the same manner that the shockwave from Melty's Ignite would; knock it back off balance. Acting quickly, Petilil launched "Another Mega Drain!" to hit the opponent quickly and drain him of energy. Even miniaturised, Melty was an easy target through the virtue of having a big flaming beacon atop his head.
