The Machine [Open/Accepting]

"The left... I think..." She muttered. "But that's the way we just came, where the gas is. We'll have to circle... around..." She replied, slowly leaning against him. "They... they may have medical supplies elsewhere in case of emergencies."

Jian went to help Damien hold Shadow up. "How deep is the wound?"

"...I've had worse." She replied. "Can I... sleep now?" She asked, sounding as if her consciousness was starting to fade.

"Not yet. We need to find you a place to get stitched up first" Damien said, then began walking Shadow. "Does it hurt much to move?"

"I... 'm...so-rry... I..." She mumbled after a few steps before going limp.

"Shadow?" Jian asked, grabbing behind her shoulders to take most of the weight off Damien.

Damien grumbled. "Let's find an area for her where they're doing first aid or something" he said to Jian, helping drag Shadow along.

Lianne came rushing back with a ten guards wearing gas masks by her side as they approached Damien and Jian. "Are you two alright? What happened?" She asked.

"Shadow passed out." Jian replied.

"Oh dear... it looks like her wound reopened. I thought I told her to be careful..." She sighed. "Jacob, Mark, can one of you please take Iris? I would like you both to escort us to the green room."

"Yes, my lady." One of the soldiers replied, taking Shadow off of Jian and Damien's hands.

"Thank you. I leave the rest in your capable hands. And please, do be careful. I believe we've all seen more then enough blood for today." Lianne replied from behind her veil.

"Yes, my lady!" The rest of the guards replied before rushing past her to the room they were all in.

"I'm very sorry about all of this." She told Damien and Jian.

Damien shrugged. "Well it's not your fault. You didn't hire any assassins. We're still not sure who they are and if they work for anyone" he said, "which is rather unfortunate".

"Indeed. This is quite a problem. I just hope this will be wrapped up soon." She replied. "... how long have you two known Shadow?" She asked, trying to change the subject. She didn't want to think about this more then she had to.

"A little while. We've met a few times in disguise. Since she's an information seller, we've made a couple of deals to get information. However, for the same reason she's also considered the enemy due to working for people such as the rebels, former enemy nations, and underground criminals. We've captured her a few times, but the slippery devil always managed to get away" Damien explained.

"I see." Lianne replied. "Is it frustrating or do you secretly enjoy it?" She asked with curiosity. "You seem like the type that really enjoys a challenge."

"Well, I'd prefer if she had never gotten away. However, I do admire her for her ability. I can certainly say that" Damien replied.

"That's good to hear. I'm thinking about asking her if she would like to join my guard for a little while." Lianne replied. "It's probably very unorthodox, but then again, me being in my position is also quite unorthodox."

"Life is full of surprises. So anyway. Where do you suggest we go for the moment? Is there a hidden location where the assailants wouldn't know where to go?" Damien asked.

"Now that we know that he travels through the roof, we're moving people to the outer rooms where the floors and ceiling are sealed. That is where we're heading now. After all, earlier you said you were tired." Lianne replied.

"Indeed. I am. I'm sure the Chief General is as well. So in which direction are these sealed rooms?" the Absolute Leader replied.

"This way, actually. It's close by to the medical room where we are taking Shadow." Lianne replied. "Otherwise I would have let one of my guards take you to the correct place. Then again, it's safer to travel in a group like this..."
