The Machine [Open/Accepting]

Damien heard Jian and headed in the direction of his voice. "Where are you?" he called out to the Chief General.

"Damien? Over here near the arch!" Jian called.

Damien ran over, his gun aimed at the assassin just in case he tried anything funny. He was a little out of breath. Damien was not the most active person and he didn't have much stamina. "Good. Now we can go back to the Grand Priestess" he said.

"Yeah." Jian replied, forcing the assassin up as he kept him from getting away.

The assassin began to laugh like crazy, not even bothering to resist as Jian held him.

"What's so funny?!" Jian demanded, when suddenly his eyes widened. "Damien, you don't think..." He muttered with a slight panic, implying they had been tricked.

"You think..." Damien said, then his eyes went wide. "The Grand Priestess!" he exclaimed. "You keep a hold of this guy. I've got the gun" Damien ordered, then turned around and tried to find his way back.

Jian nodded, punching the guy in the back to shut him up before following behind Damien at a distance.

Lianne after a long detour, she collapsed, out of breath and unable to run anymore. She turned around, having lost her pursuers in the corridors of books. 'What should I do?!' She thought, clasping her hands together and saying a silent prayer. 'Mr. Blackrose and Mr. Kimfeng... they're probably still lost in the history section...' she thought. 'Oh heavens help me.' She thought, panting as she held her aching side and began moving back towards that section in a roundabout way.

"Priestess?! Priestess?! Are you around here?" Damien called out as he moved along. He held his gun at the ready still. Who knows who was around the corner. He didn't want to shout out, as it gave away his position, but he wanted to know where she was. Chances are the enemy didn't know Damien and Jian were onto them.

Lianne barely heard someone calling for her, and hoping it was Damien, she headed towards the voice with caution.

Jian looked around as he followed behind Damien. One of Lianne's pursuers suddenly spotted him. "Stop right there!" He demanded as Jian turned towards him. The man fired a round, killing the guy Jian was restraining. Jian swore, letting him to before ducking behind a different wall of books and pulling out his gun.

Damien still slowly looked around. He held his gun at the ready and leaned against a shelf of books. He then moved around the corner with his gun aimed.

Jian did likewise where he knew the guy was, and he shot the guy in the chest. He fell to the ground, clutching the wound as Jian turned back around the corner to go catch up with Damien.

Lianne turned the corners, looking around when she spotted Damien with his gun out. She turned to duck behind the shelves in case he had spotted someone else.

Damien thought he spotted Lianne for a moment. "Priestess. Is that you?" he asked. He had his gun at the ready on the chance that it wasn't.

Lianne tried to stay aware of her surroundings as she heard Damien's voice again. She was hesitant. After all, she felt Damien could easily get rid of her now that things had gotten chaotic. Then again, she reasoned that keeping her safe was politically in his best interest. Still, she didn't want to face him without her veil again, but she had no choice. Slowly she peeked back around the corner and walked out towards him, looking worried and motioning him to stay quiet. She perked up when she heard footsteps, looking to the side as Jian caught up with Damien. She sighed with relief, putting a hand on her chest as she did.

"Priestess?" Jian asked. Lianne lifted her sleeve to cover her face as she nodded her head.

Damien turned around and saw Lianne covering her face. He had to chuckle a little. She was so modest. "You should stick with us. I doubt you're armed. Stay in between. I'll cover the front end, the Chief General will cover the back. We need you as an extra pair of eyes" he said.

"O-ok..." She muttered, still covering her face as she moved passed Damien between them.

"Have any idea who's doing this?" Jian asked.

"Three of the bishops... that I know of. Gilles included. But there could be more of them involved..." She replied. "They disconnected the land line behind the librarian's desk, and are trying to cover the exits. My guards were knocked out using a drug..." She trailed off, gripping her skirt.

"Well, then it's even more important that we keep our eyes out until we get out of here. You'll have to tell us which way to go, Priestess. You know this place the best" Damien said. "Then we can deal with the perpetrators". He then had a thought. "There isn't a secret exit, is there?"
