@Kaida HiwatariKon- 1st off you link doesn't work anymore (or at least not for me), second of all I'm not very good with spiked wig, however I would not suggest a wig with a non movable part, it just makes styling a hassle at times. Also if the wig comes in white you could dye it if your set on that wig. And lastly I have a link to wig reviews in my signature, so if you want some other options on wig stores there are some.

@Battle Mistress Beatrix- If they are not working right, cut them. Cut at and angle like how Mikuru's bangs look, a bit short too if they are in your eyes. Also if you want more natural looking ends invest in some thinning razor (?) you can get one at a beauty store (Sally's for me) for about $5 I think.

I hope that helps.

Dang it...but thanks for the suggestion. Someone else told me to go for those spunky-styled wigs b/c they already stick up. But I'm not sure...I'll check out the link though!

Can you do her style with your hair? To do it successfully you need to have hair at least bum length really. You can cheat a bit and get extensions that match your hair for the braids at the bottom.
Tbh it will be much quicker to get a wig as you won't have to worry about doing all the braids and cornrows when getting ready. :3

Okay, so I'm doing a Demyx cosplay and since I'm not willing to grow my hair out, dye it, and cut it like his, I need a wig.
Now, I've browsed around a lot but have only found one decent wig that I could just cut and style at cosworx. http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16459&cat=2471&page=1
(Because, quite frankly, all the pre-styled Demyx wigs aren't fantastic)
But I'm a complete noob and know next to nothing about wigs, except what i just read here.
So if someone could tell me a place to get a good (and affordable!) wig I could use for Demyx I'd love you a lot.

Hm, well I've never really worked with a punky so I wouldn't know if it were good or not.
My best suggestion is to find a cosplayer who has done a good Demyx wig (on devart,cosplay.com or other sites) and ask them for advice.
Also you could always try commissioning a wig but that can get pricey.

uh hello? I've decided to do Hisako from Angel Beats! and all i'm left decideing is what to do about the hair. I can't find a single pic of her but she is the one with brown hair all the way on the right hand side. Here is the link:
http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/lonewarriorr666/?action=view¤t=snapshot20100412200210.jpg

The thing I'm debating is if I should buy a wig for her hair or if i should just find a extention or something for the ponytail? ( My hair looks similar to her's but short and my hair can be put back into a ponytail but its to short for the cosplay. Would extentions fix that? I don't want to spend the money for a wig if i don't have too....

I plan on going as Gray from Fairy tail and it's going to be my first time using and styling my own wig. I went on cosworx and found a really good wig but i plan i straightening it with warm water from what i've read from others then styling it. If anybody has any tips on styling/spiking this wig i would really appreciate it with steps lol

@Forever the Spy
Well, if you can find a pony tail extension you like I'd say go for it.
I'd look on ebay to find out if they exist but maybe look on google for other sites as well.
However if you plan on cosplaying a lot of costumes with similar hair then it wouldn't be a waste to invest in a wig.

@Yellow Ronin
I know the warm water straightening is not hard but you have to be patient and let it dry and then repeat until it is as straight as you desire. When it comes to spiking, it's a bit more difficult.
Are you looking for a super spiky style exactly like the character. Or are you willing to go for a more natural spiked style?

Okay so.. I am trying to Acheive a Misa Cosplay from deathnote. I already know the out fit that I can pit together. But I pretty much need help on choosing a Wig.. I don't have much money and my mom won't let me buy anything offline. So I have two wigs picked out from PartyCity.com. Both are blone with bangs... The only thing I have to do is at the two little pigtails.. So which should I choose....?

I would either go with the second one for length or I also found this one that is pretty much the same cost but higher quality.

Ha Ha! reviving old threads!! Hope someone sees this.

So, I'm cosplaying Jack Frost. (ain't 'e cute?)

I've used wigs before, but I don't claim to be particularly good with them. Was wondering if anyone with more experience-- or just an opinion-- can help me out. Here's what I'm looking at. (if you want reference, I tried to get a detailed picture at a good angle for the one above.) My thoughts are below, but I'd like an opinion or so from some with more experience, or just a frest set of eyes.

(1) http://shop.cosplay.com/supershort.html

(2) http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/1151193017/Cosplay-male-white-boys-wig-non-mainstream-short-hair-short-hair-wig.jpg

(3) http://www.animestuffstore.com/shiki-snow-white-c-5691-p-2-pr-21983.html

(4) http://thefivewits.net/2012/09/emotionally-stunted-bullet-ballet/

I've managed to do some styling before, but never successfully cut a wig-- which is what my friend suggests i do for the last two. I will end up styling them no matter what.

I'm personally stuck between (1) and (4). On (1) the back is short, but the front is more accurate and probably wouldn't need to be cut before styling. (4) probably has the volume and length to be cut and styled any way i want it, but it would require me to cut and probably heat style it before gel, something i'm not particularly comfortable with at this point on my own. (then again, cosplay is all a learning process.)

The con is in about a month, but I will be doing sort of a "test run" this weekend with this. Quite a bit too long, and I won't cut it cause it's for another character, but I am willing to style it. I put it here, because i want to know that what I'm buying is better for the look than what I already have.

Is there anyway to make a light brown wig darker? Would using that fake hair spray do any good? The wig we purchased said we could wash it with a little bit of soap, so I was hoping we could?

Or should I just ask the place I got the wig from?

Quote me please with an answer if you have one!
