Phyre Nyx I was wonderig if anybody could help me make the costume for Maka Albarn, from Soul Eater. Examples: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/souleater/images/2/21/Vsmediossouleatermakaaruban.jpg http://www.mooncostumes.com/image/24366 http://static2.animepaper.net/upload/thumbs/scans/Soul-Eater/[small][AnimePaper]scans_Soul-Eater_NosVII(1.14)__THISRES__188872.png http://www.cosplaymagic.com/soeamaalco.html I already have a shirt and skirt, and I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to find a sweater-vest. But what I really need help with is her cloak/jacket/whatever and her boots (which I'll probably just make boot covers for.) If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. Thanks. smile
Unless your willing to find a pair of boots to make you Maka boots, I'd stay boot covers are a good option. I'm not sure what you need help with the jacket but maybe the construction? I'm not sure if you could find a jacket that would work or be alterable for hers, however if you find a pattern with a similar top style all you'd have to do is alter the pattern to extend longer. I hope this helps...

Charmful IncarnatE Scary Miss Merry This is probably going to be a dumb question, but here it goes.
I was thinking of cosplaying Nami from One Piece from the Buggy and Arlong arc/season, reference here. Here is where I run into the problem...the shoes and the skirt, I believe I've worked out, but the shirt is another story. I have no sewing machine and no great sewing skills, and I haven't found any websites selling that particular shirt or one that even comes close to it. Does anyone have any advice or tips on sewing and what is the best material to use for sewing the blue stripes onto a plain white shirt? And maybe a tutorial or where to get the blue stripe material from? I really need help on this...I've got less than 2 months! If you don't having any sewing skills, or a sewing machine, you could get the white T-shirt and paint on the blue parts. Look for this product... http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/tulip-slick-paint-82792/ . Just remember to put cardboard inside the shirt so the paint doesn't bleed to the other side. This was very helpful, thank you so much! I didn't even think about fabric paint.

Just don't get discouraged after you apply a coat. It sometimes takes a few coats to get the look you want. Using tape can also help create a straight border. Oh, and work in sections that way you don't mess up drying paint. ^W^ Oh, also... get the SLICK paint. They make PUFF and GLITTER kinds as well. The PUFF is paint that well, puffs up when it drys.
