Well, for something near those genres, I'd recommend Eragon and the Cirque du Freaks. I myself personally love the book The Outsiders, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. I also like The 39 Clues series; though they don't personally fit my needs, since they're very small books. Happy reading !

I've read all of The Hunger Games series, and I loved them. They're a pretty good read.

The Hunger Games. Is freakin AMAZING
Synopsis: The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected at random and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event where the participants, or "tributes", must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Prim. Three books in the series

I've been reading a book called Unwind by Neal Shusterman. Maybe you'll like it too. "unwind" refers to the way they break down the body parts of teens and basically kills them and give away the parts. In some cases, the families sell their children to be "unwound." Thus, the story is about three kids trying their best not to be caught and unwounded. I read a few chapters and so far, I think the book is pretty interesting.

I agree, Holes is good, a little more for younger groups though. I actually HATE the way Stephanie Meyer ruined Vampires, but the book are good, in only one way the story isn't good but Stephanie Meyer is great author, if only there were a whole new plot... then again, if there were, I probably wouldn't read Dreaking Dawn. I agree yet again, HARRY POTTER ALL THE WAY! I liked the movie of Percy Jackson, :s.
