Cameron smirked. Although saying one fact he learned about Nicholas Flamel was easier than casting a spell, he figured he would do the latter. His magic had been strong in the past whenever he cast a spell, and speaking wasn't something he was great at. So, the boy said, "Corr-um-PEE-oh," as he zig zagged his wand and pointed it towards the iron placed on Professor Angel's desk. Immediately, the metal rusted.

Adalaide tapped her chin thoughtfully. What had they done last year? She smiled widely when she remembered one of the lessons. She raised her hand. "We also learned about the Baleful Brew, a potion that keeps a person from being hindered by negative emotions like fear. When you make the potion, you can either stir it eighteen times counterclockwise, or any number of times clockwise. Stirring it counterclockwise presents a challenge because if you stir it even a single time too many or too few, or your strokes are not perfect, it can ruin the potion." Ada hadn't done overly well with that potion. She thought her stirring might have been a bit lackluster, since she'd been so focused on keeping count.

“Albus Dumbledore was a great man. He was one of the most loved Headmaster’s at Hogwarts, was a member of the Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorcerer—served as Supreme Mugwump of of the International Confederation of Wizards and as Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. He is most famous for his defeat of Gellert Grindelwald, the discovery of the twelve uses of dragons blood, and his work on alchemy with Nicholas Flamel in constructing the Philosopher’s Stone.

“Now, is there any other fact anyone can tell me about Albus Dumbledore, this is a discussion, so feel free to add opinions as well, and as always, eloquent answers will receive points for their house. ”

She shrugged and plopped into a seat, before kicking her feet up onto her desk, and resting a notebook in her lap. She listened to the professor's lecture with only a slight apparent interest. She didn't care enough to answer the professor's question and instead wrote slowly and dutifully, her notes curling with an elegance you wouldn't expect from a girl like her.

Adalaide sat with Michelle, taking her supplies out and carefully writing out the notes for the lesson. She was a bit surprised that this lesson was so short. The one on Nicholas Flamel had seemed longer, and there was a fair bit less information on him than there was on Hogwarts most famous headmaster. She tapped her fingers on the desk, thinking. What did she know about Dumbledore? A lot, actually... she thought for a bit before raising her hand. "Dumbledore was the original founder of the Order of the Phoenix, the underground organization of witches and wizards who fought against the Dark Lord Voldemort in both the First and Second Wizarding Wars. He is also the one who led Harry Potter to discover the methods he used to finally defeat Voldemort for good." When she was finished, she wore her usual blush, but was glad to have spoken up, since the Professor was sure to give out House Points. She wanted to try and make a valuable contribution to her House this year. Maybe even help them win.

Damien sat a couple seats away from the two girls, not keen on sitting anywhere near Michelle. He was pretty sure she was still plotting some sort of revenge on him over first year and didn't want to give her any reason to act out against him. He didn't need her telling her biological father about him and Marina, since he was pretty sure the man was still getting on well with his own father, and would tell him. He'd be busted for sure. He sighed, taking notes on the lesson, thinking carefully about the question. What did he know about Dumbledore? Almost nothing, really. He'd been a muggle-lover, so his family tended to act like the man had never existed. His father respected the man for fighting against the Dark Lord, but he didn't agree with his outlook, so they rarely mentioned him, and his mother absolutely despised him. Still, he wanted to try and earn points, so he thought for a moment, trying to think of something. He raised his hand. "When Hogwarts was used to house and guard the Philosopher's Stone, Dumbledore was the one to come up with the idea to hide the Stone within the Mirror of Erised, and to make it accessible only to someone who wanted to find it, but not use it, which is what allowed Harry Potter to find it where the Dark Lord could not." That bit of magic was impressive, no doubt. Damien's father had gone on and on about it, the one time he'd ever heard his father say anything truly positive about the man.

Second Lesson: Albus Dumbledore

Behind him, the enchanted chalk highlighted these notes one by one as each child had spoken them aloud in elegant italics. He nodded his head, smiling, ”Excellent, excellent, ten points to Hufflepuff and Slytherin respectively,” he acknowledged and glanced about the classroom as several students remained silent, and his eyes paused on Michelle for that moment before he continued on. ”Albus Dumbledore was a brilliant man to be sure,

“He had, in fact, bewitched the Mirror of Erised, a very old, and very particular mirror that shows ones most deepest, greatest desires. He’d enchanted the mirror to only entrust one pure of heart to obtain the stone, one that wanted to keep it safe and not use it. Now, this branch of magic is very powerful, very articulate and heavily studied in the Department of Mysteries, within the Love Chamber.

“Why love? Because it was love that had driven Mr. Harry Potter so desperately to desire that stone, to keep it safe, to keep his loved ones safe… He’s also done many other incredible feats,

“During his battle of Gellert Grindelwald, he’d earned the Elder Wand, a rare and mystical item I’m sure some of you have read about in children’s books, “The Tale of Three Brothers.”

“During his school years, Dumbledore won the Barnabus Finkley Prize for Exceptional Spell-Casting, became the British Youth Representative to the Wizengamot, and received the gold medal for Ground-Breaking Contribution to the International Alchemical Conference in Cairo.

“As a Headmaster, when a student became of age to attend Hogwarts, he was afraid that he would be unable to due to being infected by the werewolf, Fenrir Greyback, a nefarious and foul werewolf who allied himself with The Dark Lord, in the Second Wizarding War. However, Dumbledore, being fair, believed that as long as special precautions were taken, there was no reason why Remus should be deprived of his education. As such, Dumbledore prepared the special arrangements for the boy to continue at Hogwarts.

“And as Adalaide said, he led the Order of Phoenix in both wars until his death, and even after which, he’d been a clever enough man to have left behind special keys and hints to help in the defeat of Voldemort….

“Now, is there anything anyone else would like to add or ask?”

Third Lesson: Delbou Spell
╚══════════════╝

The professor entered the classroom hastily, his clock had ran several minutes late, thus, making the professor himself late, but not by too much. The Hispanic man carried himself diligently to the front of the classroom and examined each desk which contained a basin of murky brown water, and with a simple wave of his wand, the familiar script of Juan Angel Amorocho scribbled upon the board with instructions and information over a spell to be learned this class. ”Welcome back students,

“Now, today, we’re going to learn the spell, delbou, which can purify any amount of water with impurities to make it drinkable, the amount, of course, is dependent upon the casters ability and spirit. Concentration is very important, along with pronunciation, say it with me, del-BUE, and remember, just a simple gesture as you point your wand at the target.. Now, turn to the basins of water at your desk and give it a go.”

Cameron stared down at the murky water on his desk. That's so gross, he thought, squinting a bit at the brown liquid. When he found out what he had to do with it, the fourth year scrunched up his nose. Hopefully, they wouldn't have to drink it to see if their spell had worked properly. Not that it really made a difference, anyway. Cam's wand had proved itself to be pretty powerful over the course of the last three years. "Del-BUE," he said clearly, pointing the tip of the wand towards the body of water with full concentration on the basin of water. Almost immediately, the water purified and turned crystal clear.

New spells were always interesting enough, and she could see how this spell could come in handy in lots of different situations so that was good she supposed. She blinked silver eyes, watching Cameron do the spell perfectly. She remembered in their first year when the simplest of spells could mess him up. She watched him for a few minutes, trying to decide if she liked him or not. He was.... or at least her used to be friends with her cousin. No one really saw Gracie much anymore, besides Dominic. A quiet growl slid from her throat at the though of the prat. Cameron, on the other hand, was dating her little sister, and that automatically put him in her good books because he made Elli happy.... unless of course the rumour she had heard floating around the school was true. If the boy was cheating on her sister, he'd have her, and Elli to deal with. She narrowed her eyes, and slid quietly into the seat behind him. She twirled her wand in her fingers for a few moments before pointing the Mahogany wood at the bowl of disgusting sludgy water on her desk."Del-BUE" The words floated from her lips in a soft whisper. Immediately the water began to clear, and in a moment or two it was perfectly clear. Gently she dipped a pale finger in the crystalline water.

Fourth Lesson: Mystic Potion

Entering the classroom with long, swift strides, a callous and purposeful flick of his wand had led the instructions of a potion to appear on his chalkboard. He smiled mischeviously as he glanced at each of his students. "Good afternoon class, today, we're going to learn the Mystic Potion, a great diversion, and also a brilliant learning potion to access patience and understand Galpolatt's laws and different methods of brewing in alchemical history. This potion is most famous for its disruption of the Wizards' Council while Elfrida Clagg was Cheiftainess. She attempted the merge all creatures of wizarding kind that could speak the human tongue to Being status, and, when an uproar came about of the trolls, a dear friend of hers, Aubreyanna Mae, who made quite an impact on alchemy, quickly ended the sour meeting.

"Now, instead of turning this potion into me once you're done, I've set up an open area in the back of my classroom for you to test out your potions to see if it's been brewed correctly. We'll only be using the small vials for this, so the explosion will be minor, but, you'll be able to see which element will be easier for you to harness in magic."

2 tsp Acromantula venom
½ jigger Black beetle eyes
1 cup Doxy eggs
¾ tbs Powdered Romanian Longhorn dragon horn
5 ½ fl. oz. Erumpent Fluid
3 liters Murtlap Essence
¼ gallon Flubberworm Mucus
2 ½ cups of shredded Ginger Roots
¼ cup essence of Lovage
4 cups Pomegranate Juice
7 Pufferfish Eyes
1 gallon water
1. Add one gallon of water to cauldron and set to boil.
2. Combine two cups of pomegranate juice and the powdered Romanian Longhorn dragon horn in a separate basin, and stir gently.
3. Waiting exactly five minutes in between, add half of a single fluid ounce of Erumpent fluid, at a time, to the mixture of pomegranate juice and powdered dragon horn, there should be eleven total instances in which Erumpent Fluid added. Severe caution should be taken during this step, or the basin may melt, or explode.
4. Add the mixture of pomegranate, powdered dragon horn, and Erumpent fluid to the cauldron; let contents boil for approximately five minutes, and then add the final two cups of pomegranate juice turning the contents a deep lavender color.
5. Add one cup of doxy eggs to the cauldron, if the mixture is done correctly, the eggs should float. Stir in eggs counterclockwise until they sink to the bottom.
6. Combine half a jigger of black beetle eyes with three liters of murtlap essence in a separate basin, and once the eyes have dissolved, add to the cauldron.
7. To thicken the mixture, combine a quarter of a gallon of flubberworm mucus, stirring clockwise for one minute, and counterclockwise the next minute, and continue this cycle until the mixture thickens to a lilac color.
8. Slice each pufferfish eye in half through the use of the severing charm, and then drop each half eye into the cauldron, one at a time.
9. Stir in two teaspoons of acromantula venom.
Add remaining essence of lovage and ginger roots to the cauldron, a pink smoke will emit for several moments, stir the concoction with your wand and it should generously begin changing colors until it settles into a thick indigo paste once it cools.

Cameron read the instructions on the chalkboard as Professor Angel spoke. This lesson seemed like it was going to be challenging, but he would try it anyway. Once they could start, the fourth year poured a gallon of water into the cauldron and set it to boil. As it did, he poured two cups of pomegranate juice and powdered Romanian Longhair dragon horn into another basin and stirred. Next, Cameron made sure to pay close attention to what he was doing. He timed five minutes on the stop watch before adding half of an ounce of Erumpent fluid eleven times. Or maybe it was ten? Thinking he had only added the fluid ten times, Cameron added one more half of an ounce. The basin started expanding, and it took Cameron a moment to realize what was going on. "It's gonna blow!" he called to his classmates before ducking under the desk. Suddenly, the container exploded and the ingredients inside were shot in every direction. Cameron looked up at Professor Angel from under his desk, flashed him a sheepish smile, then got up. "Should I- uh, should I try again?" he asked as he stood up from under his desk and looked around at the mess he created.

Fourth Lesson: Mystic Potion

Angel sat behind his desk dutifully detailing the directions for successfully repotting a venomous tentacula when he heard the uncanny sound of an overbubbling cauldron threatening to explode. He glanced up, but it was a moment too late! Cameron hit the floor and the potion burst, its contents sizzled off the cold stone floor and billowed steam.

The professor could only blink as he wiped droplets of the potion off of his face. Luckily, it had cooled during its flight across the room."A good try Cam, these things always happen to the best of us," he nodded earnestly. He'd be lying if he said he'd never exploded a potion a time or two before.

"I believe we have enough time for you to try and give it another go.

"Tergeo," he cast simply with the wave of his wand and siphoned the mess away until it disappeared.

First Lesson: Nicholas Flamel

”Welcome back students, I hope you had an excellent summer. This year we’re going to dive right back in with a lecture about one of the greatest alchemists in history—Nicholas Flamel. If your new, or if you don’t remember me, my name is Professor Angel. If you haven’t already, take out your notebook or parchment and quill and begin taking notes.

“The famed alchemist Nicolas Flamel, born in the 1327, created the only known Philosopher's Stone in existence. Flamel used the Elixir of Life made from the stone to extend his and his wife, Perenelle's, lifespan for centuries until they decided to destroy the stone in 1992, where the couple soon died afterwards.

“The Philosopher's Stone was a man-made, blood-red stone with magical properties. It could be used to create the Elixir of Life, which extended the drinker's lifespan, as well as transform any metal into pure gold. The Philosopher's Stone was believed to mystically amplify the user's knowledge of alchemy so much that anything was attainable.

“You should remember from last year, the stone was finally found within Hogwarts School by Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort, after a series of trials and tasks set by the professors, Mister Harry Potter saved the stone and returned it to Dumbledore where he and Nicholas Flamel decided to destroy it.

“Nicholas Flamel had always been an alchemist that believed in the true pursuit of enlightenment, because alchemy is not only a practical magic, it’s also a philosophy. Now, does anyone have any questions?” The Hispanic professor inquired, glancing about his students and their scribbling quills.
