[EXAM]The Hills are Alive[Yin]

Yin had the bag cradled to his chest, creeping after her, wondering why his life was like this. But it was impossible to ignore the feeling that something else was there...

That some foreign substance was on his feet.

Then they were able to actually see what it was like and Yin had to bite back any remarks or noises of protest as he too looked at her side. "Nurse Cricket? Are you sure you should continue?" He was worried, so very, very worried. "I could try to find it myself."

Cricket sighed. He'd noticed how unsteady she was on her feet, then. The narrow pathway was definitely a surefire way to fall to her death. Dissipation. Whatever. It would have been horribly traumatizing and was probably not meant to be done.

"It isn't me." she noted. "But I should sit and rest again." she agreed, slumping against the tunnel wall again with a deep sigh. "If you wish to continue on alone........ do you even know what you are looking for?"

Valid question was valid.

This...worried him. He did not fully understand her, and she was willing to stop, to sit and rest when she had said this mission was important and it had to be done quickly.

Then she asked him the most valid of questions. "No," he admitted rather miserably. He knew next to nothing about plants, knew a few that were poisonous, a few that were so common that they were widely known. He had no idea what she was looking for other than that it was rare. "But maybe if you described it?" He would be loathe to leave her unattended in this state but...something had to be done.

Cricket laughed. A kind of miserable laugh, but... a laugh.

"It is a plant that looks like most any other plant." she replied, explaining why it was so complicated. "However, it is distinguishable by it's ten pointed leaves that are red on the underside." she explained, making vague gestures with her hands.

"If you find it, you'll need to make sure you dig it up by the roots and re-plant it into..." she gestured to the bag Yin was carrying. She'd clearly brought something with her for that situation. A quick look in the bag would show a small shovel and a delicate clay pot - probably best to not break either of them.

Her laughter was not comforting.

He listened carefully as she explained it, unable to mentally complain of why did it have to be 10? Why not a manageable number like 3 or 4? 10 took a little bit to count to.

And if he found it...he was not really used to plants, but he did know of their roots and knowing that it all had to go in...he glanced into the bag just to be sure, noting the planting items. "I will try my best," he vowed, one glance at her worrying him. He had to do this alone...if she went on..."Please just rest."

Cricket sighed.

"Alright." She didn't seem to content to do so either, the purple continuing to flicker underneath her skin.

If Yin was going to go and find that plant, he'd probably have been well suited to move quickly.

THE NEXT PROMPT

Yin needs to navigate the next dark tunnel by himself!

Roll 1d10. If you get a three or below, you've gotten through! If not, you need to roll again until you do!

Yin cast one last look at her before turning to face the tunnel. He had to hurry.

And he was motivated. He did not care if he got himself scraped and cut up in the darkness, he just moved.

The final tunnel opened upwards to the top of the cliff which was alive with a large flourish of vegetation and... a greened eyed white cat that seemed to be waiting for him with a cheshire like smile.

"Slow, slow.~" it taunted before it went running off into the greenery. It seemed Miss Kitty Cat was likely there to find the plant too!

Which meant Yin needed to find it before the cat did!

HOW TO FIND THE PLANT

Roll 1d100. You need to get a multiple of 10 to find it!

Roll until you find it -or- if you roll less than 10, the cat finds it first and you'll have to fight for it!

For every 4 rolls you take, Cricket loses 1 HP.

Yin would have much rather have eaten the cat when he saw her rather than listen to her taunts. With an angry hiss he moved into the underbrush, eyes scanning for the plant.

But instead it seemed as if the sly cat had found it first.

The cat seemed to giggle, her tail wagging from side to side as she rubbed against the planet. "Y'know, I saw you on the train~" it purred, half nibbling at the leaves. "You didn't even say hi." she added before shaking out her body and seeming to morph almost immediately into a petite, yet slender, green eyed ghoul with brown hair.

"Do you know how much this plant is worth?" she asked with another wide grin. "A lot. A lot a lot."

HP: 40/40

TO ATTACK GHOST GHOUL

Roll normal attacks!

Every time you miss, Cricket loses -1 HP and she counters with -5 to Yin for every attack hit-or-miss!

Yin watched her shift, dread filling him as he looked on. A shapeshifter. Like Miss Gene (or so he presumed). He had Seen the ghoul but...she could have been anyone. Anyone at all.

"I need it," was his only was of explanation as he set the bag down and lashed out, hissing as she dodged.

She had attacked back, and he needed to hurry. The nurse was waiting on him. He could not afford to waste time now. He attacked, claws reaching out, aiming for the pressure points she would have, maybe not know to guard against.

Pain for her, but not disabling as she reacted, an elbow slammed down to his lower arm.

Destruction was on his brain now. He needed that plant. Needed it. His opponent might have been a ghoul, who he had attacked without her physically provoking him. It was not a pretty fight, a blow to her ribs, a kick to his shin. Silence as he struggled with her.

Yin was struggling with her, but it was more even than he would have liked. He needed to gain an advantage.

Headbutting did not help, and he thought he came away from the encounter as bad off as she had.

He backed away, disengaging from the immediately close battle, feeling his Fear well up as he focused. This was his chance, he had to do something. Something drastic.

He rushed in, fists flying, a blur she could not keep up with. She lashed out on her own, but he did not let up his relentless attack, a grim look set on his face as her fingernails raked across any part of him she could reach.
