Roukan
Alignment: Feral Faction: None Role: ----- Age: Adult Abilities:
Status: Single Sexuality: Unknown
Personality: Once energetic and carefree, now cautions, wistful but persistent. Fatal Flaw: Insecure - Ever since learning of the rumors about him, Roukan has become uncertain of himself anymore and lacks confidence in his abilities to mingle with other pae'il. Goals: To find out what happened to the other spirits and learn of their fate, whether good or bad. To find his place in life, who is he exactly and where does he fit in? Fears: Losing the remaining spirits loyal to him and becoming utterly alone. Being unsure/confused of himself and not accepted by others. He fears he is too different to fit in with just any normal pae'il, hence his insecurity, therefore forces himself to stay away from them. Because of this he has become afraid of large gatherings of pae/being in said large gathering. Also fears fire and its ability to easily decimate whatever it comes in contact with.
History: Roukan's ear flicked idly as he rested against the tree, rump in the soft grass, back against the bark. His arms were folded over his chest and his legs straight but crossed over each other. A toe fidgeted slightly as he felt the gaze upon him, never wavering. He scrunched up his face in attempt to squint his eyes even more shut than they already were... as if that would make the gaze lift from him. But the gaze persisted and finally Roukan gave in, taking in a deep breath and letting it out in a long sigh.
"Alright Blue...." he said in a soft, slightly dejected voice. He forced what little of a smile he could over his features but it was far from sincere. Slowly opening his eyes he peered at the blue-grey wolf spirit before him, her pale gold eyes staring straight into his soul. She gave off a low short growl before glancing down at the uneaten mean before her then continued to bore her gaze into his very being.
Roukan tilted a foot aside to gaze at the rabbit he'd hardly touched before back at the she spirit. "Ok ok...you win." he managed a faint chuckle before wearily reaching over to grasp the rabbits ears and tug it closer too him.
Truth was he was starving. His stomach ached with pain from hunger but his mind held him back. Should he really continue on like this? Was it even worth it? Constantly on the run, looking over his shoulder for signs of his hunter, avoiding other pae'il out of fear he'd be captured. Tortured. Or worse. Thoughts like this plagued him daily. Even now they tormented him as he sat idly, forcing himself to gulp down the last bits of his meal. It was meant to be a game. Just a game. It wasn't meant to turn out like this. He hadn't told the wolves to do what they did, or at least.... he couldn't believe he did. They had just....turned... One minute they all were having a good time, laughing, tumbling, playing together, the next thing he knew they were chasing down pae...and then screaming started.
But he was so pup like back then. A little younger than he was now. Energetic, carefree. Wild you could almost say. He loved nothing more than to run free, feeling the wind brushing through his fur, his spirit companions hot on his paws. But what did he know? What if he did set the wolves on those pae without even realizing it? What if he did have that power? If so...then could it happen again? The thought made him shudder from head to toe as he shook himself from the thoughts. "Get yourself together Roukan." he grunted, getting to his paws and stretching.
As he scratched the back of his head he glanced around at the remaining spirits who stayed loyal to him. This time a more genuine smile crossed his face, although still faint. Countless times he had told himself he'd be lost without them. They kept him going, kept him strong. Especially Blue. He was fond of her most, even now as she finally settled herself down, content that he had eaten finally. She was like a mother to him. He didn't dare think of loosing her, no. Not like he had lost the others.
And whatever became of them?
Those thoughts plagued him too. He could only hope those pae they chose to bond with weren't suffering because of it... or that the spirits themselves were happy wherever they might be. That didn't stop him from longing to find them, to see what became of them. Good or bad... call him silly but... well he just had to know. So he kept searching. Kept moving. Constantly on the run for more reasons than one.
Casting his gaze back towards the sky he watched the clouds roll lazily past, floating free without a care in the world. His mouth parted with words to say but suddenly the sound of a twig snapping somewhere behind him hit his ears. He froze, ears tilted backwards, eyes wide and alert. The wolves did very much the same. Slowly Roukan brought his gaze back to Blue, meeting her own. Her eyes seemed to reflect the very thoughts he was thinking. 'The Hunter.'
Slinking forward, he held his hand out and passed it over Blue's head like a petting motion, feeling the soft breeze against his palm from her incorporeal state of being. "Time to go." he whispered, nodding his head at the others as they got to their feet. More sounds of twigs snapping echoed behind him, this time much closer than before.
Glancing towards the direction of the sound, Roukan's wistful gaze peered into the surrounding forest. Was it really them? Still? After all this time? He wouldn't take the chance. With one more nod towards his companions, he and the others departed almost as quickly as they had came. Once again on the run for that safe place that seemed unlikely out of reach.
