[PRP] From fog to night (Charis x Yani)

Charis was more than a bit shocked when his little girl came bursting out of the underbrush and nearly tackled him curling up sobbing like she had been almost torn limb from limb in the wilds. Wide eyed he naturally covered her with his wings to keep her close and get a look at her to check for injuries. He might not be the bravest or strongest fox but he was good at finding things and being a distraction so this kind of pressure made him snap to action. “Nal calm down.” At first he tried to be as soothing as possible but when she continued to mew over him he used a tone that he never actually though he would be capable of. “Nal! Settle. I need to see if you’re hurt. Stop wriggling.” He didn’t quite yell but anyone who heard it knew where Karistal got her sternness from.

Karistal moved to her fathers side and lifted a wing to drag her sister out. “She’s muddy not hurt.” Karistal grabbed her sister by the scruff of the neck to haul her out like a kit, mud or no this was not the way to act when she first saw her papa again and was just a bit upset.

Yani didn't know what to do. He wanted to help, but the screaming fox seemed far too distressed, and he honestly didn't want to get too close at the moment. He watched the scene, a headache forming as his smile remained. Should he go? Was he intruding? Yet, he really didn't want to. He had a feeling if he did right now he wouldn't meet Charis again, and that left his stomach flip-flopping in concern. He actually enjoyed Charis' company, and wanted to at least get some idea of where to find him before he left.

Still, the 'phim did look out of place. He never had kids, and for that he had always been grateful for. He was sure his mother would rip his ear off if he had kids, and he just... didn't want to do it alone. Nah, he wanted to settle with a mate, first.

So, he watched, a pleasant but mildly confused smile on his face.

Nalanna's body pretty much locked up. Between Papa's sternness and Kari grabbing a hold of her scruff she didn't or couldn't put up a fight. Her ears drooped and her tail tucked itself between her legs. She laid on the ground not looking up at anyone. There was tension running through her body. Her sister was unhappy with her or so she thought and her papa to for her behavior and now there was some other winged fox not to far from her papa staring. It made her uncomfortable so she was just going to keep her eyes on the ground and become still as possible.

Charis sagged a bit in relief. His little girl wasn’t hurt. “That’s good.” He waved a paw around a bit franticly. “Not that your covered in mud Nalanna I know you don’t like that but that you’re ok and not hurt.” He patted her head and noticed she was very very still. Realizing he must have scared her he hugged her close with a wing murmuring it’s ok before letting her sister take charge.

Kari didn’t let go the whole time papa Charis hugged Nal. She didn’t’ want her sister to break down in tears again. As soon as Charis let go she wrapped up around Nal in a semi protective manner. The other phim was smiling amused but she knew strangers made her sister feel unsafe. “Nal that is Yani. He made sure papa C didn’t get hurt flying at night like he isn’t supposed to.” She narrowed one of her eyes that her sister couldn’t see at her father letting him know he was still in trouble for that stupid action. Still she gave a look to the stranger. “This is Nalanna my sister and Charis’s other child.” Her tone she kept strictly neutral still since she didn’t know this stranger all that well. The fact he kept her father safe said a lot for him, but she didn’t know how well he was really taking the sight of her and Nal.

Yani smiled as Charis introduced him, raising a wing in greeting.

"Hi," He chirped, looking at Charis and then the girls. Man, he could really see the resemblance, for sure. Clearing his throat, the 'phim looked from Charis to the girls a few times before he realized, s**t, he needed to actually say something other than hi. Introductions were easy — not.

"Man, is he not supposed to be flying at night? I really shouldn't be, either, considering how bad my night sight can be." He raised a wing, touching a feather tip under one of his eyes playfully.
