Quote: JestterSorry for bringing up an old thread, I just ran across it and I have a few questions regarding pansexuality. I have no doubt that pansexuality exists. What I don't understand is that is doesn't seem to be treated as a sexuality. People, instead of saying they were born with it, claim to have chosen to be pansexual. Furthermore, many of the people Ive heard of then classify which groups they are open to as a pansexual. Shouldnt more pansexuals be sexually attracted to all humans, eunuchs, and hermaphrodites (are children included)? Instead it seems that most pick-and-choose which parts of pansexuality they express as a way of being the more open bisexual. Most other sexualities have pretty definitive criteria. Youre gay if youre sexually attracted to members of the same sex, straight if youre sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex. Pansexuality doesnt seem to have such a clear cut definition. Why isnt pansexuality as easy to label or define? Have I misunderstood the definition or are there limitations on pansexuality that separate it from the regular rules that define other sexualities? Feel free to comment or correct me. I have only read a few basic definitions of pansexuality and I am truly interested in learning more about it. *As a side note, I'm not questioning anybody's sexuality, I just don't understand I believe there are as many types of sexuality as there are people. It's hard to limit a definition which is why pansexuality is so hard to define and if people don't understand what a particular sexual interest falls under they put it under pansexuality. I also think the fact that it's difficult to define is wy it isn't easily accepted. Some people deny the existance of bi-sexuality and bi-sexuality is easier to define.

PinoyCowboyka788 hm that's pretty intresting. I never heard of that term before until now. this is off beat, but why exactly is the term "Metosexual" "Sexual"? er......better worded.......hm. I can't explain it, but isn't metrosexual basicly just over obessed of one's personal apparience? hm sorry to throw the thread off a bit, just reading that made me think of another term that's all. A metrosexual is generally defined as a man more in touch with his feminine side, though not gay.

If there was a time I was sexuality-orientatedly-frustratedly-confused... it would be now, after reading that. I just cannot classify myself.

Kalorn so then how would this be different than bisexual? as best as I can tell from discriptions (my best friend identifies as pansexual), Bisexuals are attracted to men and they are attracted to women. meaning that they like men for being men and women for being women. Pansexuals are simply attracted to people. they don't differentiate between men or women or anyone outside the gender binary.

I just figured it out! I am pansexual, and have been spreading pansexual education without even realizing it!!!! WOW! I am a firm believer that you fall in love with the soul of another being, not the body (the body is just the icing on top!!). That is amazing! I have read this thread before, but it didn't really click until tonight! WOW. That is so cool!! 4laugh 3nodding heart

I would have to say that I am an odd person. For many facts in life in general. I can be construed as Pangender, and I dress on the occasional day I will dress like a girl more, or bind to look more male (a good portion of that has to do with a personal need to be unrecognizable). I am Pansexual, though I happen to say Omnisexual more often (same meaning). It has nothing to really do with gender or origins, than completely with personality. I think it also hurts less in the long stream of things when you realize that the person you are attracted to will never return your feelings. I've had a crush on an asexual, and just left it as that with no excessive pining, or hard feelings.

I've combined the Asexuality thread in here and unstickied the other one. I'll also put the AIDS one in here soon as well. This is simply to reduce the number of stickies. Feel free to continue posting in the other thread. ^^

I'm a little confused now after reading that. Honestly, I don't know if I classify as bi, or as pansexual. >.< I never heard of the term or its definition until now. Now I don't know what I am.

I've wondered to myself for a long time whether I'm asexual or not, 'cause I often find myself liking girls but not wanting to do anything sexual. So I guess it's just a romantic attraction. Sex has always seemed pretty much strange to me, it doesn't come naturally to me to want to have sex with the people I like.

I'm so glad to see that you covered asexuality. I only recently came across the term at a school GSA meeting, but I immediately knew that they were describing people like myself. It was nice to know that there are other people out there and that I haven't been experiencing something that's isolated. I do have one question pansexuality, though: is it specifically referring and related to sex? I've lately considered myself pansexual because gender has never been much of an issue to me and attraction hasn't been based on whether a person is male or female. It's difficult to describe, but it feels different from bisexuality. However I'm also asexual, and the description of pansexuality here sounds as though it pertains to sex more than emotional attraction. Have I been misusing the term? Just wondering, as I don't want to mislead people who aren't familiar with the GLBT community.
