Aryale

Brenley was offered a wave as he hovered nearby, Aryale motioning him closer if he so chose. "Hi Kiri," Aryale greeted as the other young woman approached, still peering around for....well, maybe he'd decided to avoid her again. Her heart twisted in her chest a little, but she managed to keep the frown from her face. There were things happening, after all!

Like- "...Two..." The green had been a stunning start, but Aryale had never seen an egg hatch two Golds. She'd never even seen two on the sands together that weren't a case like High Reaches last clutch. And they'd hatched so soon! But that red eyed green...

A green was more the speed of a girl like her, right? Aryale smudged out any thought of either of the twins giving her even a second look. Nothing wrong with that. Her parents rode green, she would ride green. And how fierce this one was, already beginning to show her fierceness by cracking open the eggs of her siblings. Someone wanted to be the center of someone's world and everybody's attention.

I don't blame you for that, little one.

Matotoka

Matotoka's brows raised slightly. Well this was a lot of activity all at once. "It usually go this fast?" he asked, leaning into Karunia as he whispered. The twin golds would perhaps be more exiciting when he realized how rare and special of a thing they were...but the little green seemed to demand more attention in spite of that.

So she could have all of his.

-----

Papys

So many babies and so soon! It felt like only a few eggs had hatched and already they had.... he wasn't much good at counting while excited. He wasn't good at very much but having a good heart. But look at them all!

Papys was really going to grin his face off.

-----
Shalaera

"....." It was early and dark. Was she...seeing them right? She squinted, but held off on moving to her bets until she was a bit more awake to be sure. Surely it wouldn't be something she'd miss later.

Two queens - and already some twins! Good thing the bet had been extra eggs - and not extra babies.

Rio

"Oh, isn't she just beautiful," Rio had cooed when Paw Print had broken her shell, suitably impressed even if the green was not. Then Olive had revealed itself - themselves! - to many gasps and exclamations, Rio not being an exception. "Would you look at that! I wonder what our guests from High Reaches will think, hmm?" Twin golds from a brown sire, ha!

Their green sister, however, was evidently less than pleased with having her moment stolen, and proceeded to 'help' two more eggs - but three more siblings! - to hatch. Well then. Uncommon as the twin golds were, Rio's gaze tracked their chromatic siblings with even greater interest.

But the Green Olive queens did not appear to be overly impressed with their sister. One of them gave a snort, turning away from her to check the dragonets that had been so abruptly hatched. The other turned a reddening eye upon her, wheeling to face the Brown Paw Print green. That. Was. Enough.

No! The little green reared up, hissing and angry, cold rage and distress mixing together into a terrible concoction. It was not enough! Hadn't she done enough? Hadn't she hatched, hadn't she expected an adoring crowd? But no, no, there was no adoration to be found except in piddling quantities that were soon stolen by her sisters.

The irritated queen stalked over to her sister and gave her a swat on the snoot. Brown Paw Print green drew herself back with all of the offended dignity of a princess, staring in shock and horror at her sister. How dare she?? Not even Papa could fix this.

Candidate Aelyx : Western : She/Her

"Of course you can." Her hand slid in to his as they stood together, a gentle reminder of her presence...as the hatching began. First a little green, BEAUTIFUL as could be, then a...Wait...A pair of Queens?! Goodness, what luck! So many lovely little ones hatching on to the sands. Even with the Green's tantrum, Aelyx had to smile. They were all perfect in their own way...and she wasn't afraid, not yet. Why not simply watch and enjoy them for what they were? The future of Pern. "Look at them all..."

BastetAmun

Candidate Wren : Western : He/Him

Twins! Left and right! Those poor, tiny things. Cramped together in the shells. How sad. Fingers folded against his robes as he watched, almost finding himself agreeing with the little Green. She'd been upstaged, poor thing. It happened so often to the little Greens and Blues, and they often went overlooked for glimmering hides. Pity.

C'yx and Blue Iriseth : Western

Yes yes, love! Take your time. I'm waiting for you~ Iriseth made sure to make the perfect spot in front of him for her to lay down. They would have an amazing view of the eggs, though not as good as the parents, but that was alright. She would come to him soon enough.

Farellen blinked, no...nonono,, hatchlings fighting, NO please... "Please stop, we're here, find your rider, please don't hurt each other" he thought, trying to keep the thoughts to himself though, he didn't want to interfere, he just hated to see dragons fighting.

~~~~~~~~~~
Serfie closed her eyes, violence between hatchlings, even if it was 'just' a swat, was not good, it turned her stomach, what could a green do against a gold, even a small one, and a gold that used violence as a solution... well... she couldn't quite blame the little gold but still, she was learning that violence first was not the way to deal with things and the green hadn't really HURT the hatchlings in those two eggs, only helped them hatch... right?
~~~~~~~~~~

Helane held back a cry as one gold went to check on the hatched babies while the other faced up to the green, this was not good... especially when the gold's response was to swipe at the green's snout, oh no.... no that wasn't good. "Please don't" she said under her breath, the quietest she could possibly get.

Zarsteyr, he/him
Zarsteyr was having a good dream, but as soon as A'ral interrupted it with his yelling, all memory of it disappeared. Irritation quickly shifted to excitement. As many hatchings as he stood at, he never grew tired of them. Still...why did the eggs have to pick the middle of the night? He wiped the sleep from his eyes as he rushed to get ready, giving a glance to his brother, who was already awake and doing the same.

He hurried over to his brother, but Xahteis waved him off, wishing to do this without being in his brother's shadow. Still, Zarsteyr gave him a thumbs up and a word or two of encouragement, as they parted ways. On the sands, he bowed to the queen with an excited grin, before moving to be among the other candidates--far enough from his brother that Xahteis wouldn't complain. Before much could happen, he searched for his sister in the stands, and when he thought he spotted her, he gave a wave. Hopefully that was her! He never tired of these hatchings, and always kept hopeful, even if...he'd never actually Impressed yet.

Several eggs began to rock, and the first was a green. Zarsteyr grinned at her, but his attention was quickly taken away by the twin golds. Despite the novelty, despite the intrigue of twin golds, he was more taken with the green. Greens were, after all, the best color--and he'd never Impress a gold, so what was the point in worrying about them? Still, he smiled to the golds, before turning his attention back to the green.

His interest quickly shifted as she began to throw a little tantrum, tearing into several eggs. Another two greens and a blue, at least, but...he tried very hard not to feel frustration at the green, and instead, he felt helpless. How he wished he could do something, before someone got seriously hurt. He couldn't help anyone, could he? All he could do was wait.

The golds seemed to have it under control, maybe, as one approached the shocked and newly hatched greens and blue, while the other approached the angry green. There was a mild confrontation, and a swat from the gold, and the green looked quite offended. She was so upset...he felt a surge of sympathy, but was glad that the gold was there. Maybe she could command her sister to stop.

ShinosBee
Ilauria is mentioned (by both brothers)/waved to! No need to reply, though~

Xahteis, he/him
Xahteis was quick to get up when A'ral informed them of the hatching. After all...he was excited, though he wouldn't admit it, to see the dragons from the sands. Despite his upbringing, he'd never actually been a candidate, but shards, he was going to do it right. None of this half-assed or inaccurate stuff, he'd make sure there wasn't a wrinkle in his robes, that his sandals were perfect. He doubted he'd actually Impress, but that didn't mean he couldn't do this perfectly.

As Zarsteyr approached him, Xahteis was quick to wave his brother off. He didn't want to be just Zarsteyr's brother, not today. He wanted to see the hatching, to admire the dragons, not to be distracted by his older brother. As he reached the sands, and then the queen, he gave what he hoped was the most flawless bow, and quickly shuffled over to the other candidates. Xahteis could practically feel his sister's eyes on him, even if he wasn't sure she was there yet. They all had such high hopes for him...he'd let them down, unfortunately. He was hardly rider material.

With a quick glance, he looked for Oreune, his fellow weaver, but didn't immediately spot her. He tried to hide his disappointment.

He watched as a green hatched. A green, just like their parents' dragons. He winced for a moment at the memory, but was happy to see her. Xahteis's attention shifted as twin golds hatched. Twin golds? Now that was an oddity. He made sure to file this memory away, to return to it. Fascinating...

The green seemed annoyed that her thunder was stolen--Xahteis could understand that. Still, he winced as the green tore some eggs open, but he felt for her as the queen approached her. Poor thing...she just wanted to hatch, not to be in her sisters' shadow.

Nashwa

Oh. Oh no she didn't. Nashwa had, admittedly, been as impressed as everyone else at the uncommon occurence of twin golds, but didn't gasp until one of those golds swatted her first-hatched green sister. That seemed rather uncalled for! Paw Print might have opened a couple of siblings' eggs, but she'd not done any harm! Oh, dear. Still, concerned though she was, the young woman did her very best to keep her thoughts positive and welcoming to all the babies, and keep any scandalized thoughts about the spat squashed the moment they arose.

O'len and Brown Aleyath

    As if Khamaith's idle thought had willed him into existence, Aleyath's lithe form sped high over the sands, barely visible in the dark. He offered the gold a happy mental nudge as he landed on an empty ledge, just in time to watch the Green Olive Egg crack wide open and deposit two shimmering hatchlings onto the sands. There was a green milling around down there too, but he only had eyes for the golds.

    Below, O'len chuckled at his dragon's covetous musings. They're not baubles for your collection. He smoothed his features as the green began her tantrum, sending her all the mental appreciation that Aleyath was not.

    Yeah, um... you're right. The brown's eyes went a little yellow at all the slashing and slapping. I'll take the one that's not smacking anything.

    You're not taking anyone. Think happy thoughts.

    Fish. Swimming. Mountains. Sneaking up on people. Aleyath's eyes swirled blue again as he watched the eldest green far below.

    Good enough.

Ruunan/HR/open

The hour was so early, it might simply have been very late. Ruunan yawned widely as he was jostled awake, not quite aware of himself as he slipped into his candidate robes and valiantly (if in vain) attempted to brush the knottiest of his curls. The candidates left the barracks for the cold morning air, shuffling in anticipatory silence. He might almost have believed his sister and her dragon were watching him being shunted onto another dragon's back. He knew they chafed at not being allowed to go, but his thoughts dwindled and disappeared in the dark.

/Between/ consumed everything- fear included. Western Weyr was alive with tingling excitement and the thrum of dragons; but Ruunan felt oddly detached. This might be his destiny. Maybe. He wondered if the eggs would remember him. In the end, as long as he was still alive, everything would be okay.

It seemed like the eggs were more than ready. The first to hatch was a fierce little green, whom Ruunan found himself both admiring and watching with a wary stare. Something about her made him feel a mite uneasy- a feeling that increased manifold when, in a rage, she tore at her fellow eggs following the hatching of what appeared to be twin golds.

And twin golds! Had anything like that happened before? They were but a few eggs in and this was most definitely a hatching to remember. Still, his heart ached for the Daisy Green, concern and compassion outweighing his fear. Hopefully Paw Print green would find her bonded soon, and settle down.

The less agitated Queen gave Aleyath a look of complete awareness and utter dismissal. She wasn't going to take him anywhere, thank you very much. Really, the pair of them had barely hatched. He could wait a little longer, thank you very much. Red bled into her gaze at not only the adult dragon's thoughts, but also the fight that was ensuing.

Brown Paw Print didn't like the implication that she had harmed her siblings at all! They were fine! She hadn't hatched all of them, couldn't they see that? If she had been capable of clutching her snout, she would have done so, but as it was, she gave another hiss, and lunged at the Green Olive queen before her. A swipe of those tiny sharp claws, and someone wasn't looking quite so pretty.

The rudest sister in the world had the temerity to swat her back! Ugh!

Meaning, the tiny Daisy green creeled piteously, attempting to right herself. Oh... oh, why did this have to happen now? Looking out among the Candidates, she just... no, she wasn't ready. She was going to stay over here, where angry sisters weren't attacking each other. The blue Gay Flag baby gave a wail of his own, and leaned heavily upon his sister, who didn't seem anywhere near as concerned.

Rasthell

The young man was surprised when Rio approached. Still, his mood lifted somewhat, glad to have someone to stand with, to not be so alone. It might not have been him.... But really now, Rio had always been nothing but friendly. But then things began to happen... First a green broke shell, then not one but two golds. He'd never seen it happen in all his time....but twin dragons weren't entirely uncommon. "High Reaches likely will eat their hats," he mused. And from a young brown, at that. "Watch yourself, though.... That poor darlin' doesn't seem too happy.". He stood a bit taller, trying hard to send soothing and comforting thoughts to the green. He knew what it was like to be... Outshone. But she was perfect, and beautiful... Surely, she would be the world to whoever she sought out.

Still, Rasthell would make sure Rio stayed safe. Or try to at least. The man had two girlfriends that needed him, after all. Wouldn't do for anything to happen to gim.

Orry, she/her
Orry was hardly new to hatchings--she knew what to do. Still...the middle of the night? It left her a bit sleepy, but she was excited. Why wouldn't she be? Hatchings were exciting. She would bring some of her fierce optimism and sharp enthusiasm, and cheer on the candidates who Impressed, comfort the ones who hadn't, and maybe even Impress herself.

She smiled to her fellow candidates, wishing them luck in her cheerful voice as they made their way to the sands. Orry was tired, sure, but someone had to be peppy! After bowing to Killakeeth, she made her way over to the other candidates. Craning her neck, she looked to see if she could find that young man she'd been tutoring on his writing. He'd be fun enough to chat with, to bring him up a little bit, as the hatching went on.

With a quick glance to the stands, Orry searched for O'dyn and Ansheth. She knew her father would be there to support her, and she hoped he would be proud if and when she Impressed. Her attention was quickly stolen by the rocking eggs, however, and she gasped with glee as the first green hatched. Clapping for the cute little creature, no matter how irritated the green seemed, Orry's attention was nonetheless stolen when twin golds hatched.

Wow! That was a rare occasion, and would be good for the Weyr. More golds meant more hatchings, after all, and more dragons to fight thread. She smiled to the golds, but as it turned out, that was part of the problem. The green, feeling slighted, turned her attention to the other eggs, lashing out at them. Orry felt a surge of pain, a pang of empathy, towards the eggs who had sudden, unexpected hatchings, and hoped none were hurt. They seemed okay, though! One of the queens approached the green, and Orry winced as she swatted the green. It was hardly the most violent thing, but then the green slashed at her gold sister. Oof. Still, Orry sent her fiercely encouraging thoughts their way, hoping that the two sisters would stop fighting...

TETH

Teth's emotions were slowly becoming a roller coaster thanks in part to the actions of his and Killa's babies on the sands. The actions of the two golden babies were not acceptable, and he snorted at them. Hey, stop that!!! I won't tolerate meanness!!![/i] His words were a sort of bugle bellow, even if they wouldn't carry weight against actual golds. Hatchlings or not, they could ignore him and, considering the method of fight, probably would. You're here to find lifemates!!!! If you can't behave you shouldn't have come out of your shells!!!

It was weird that Teth was trying to sound.....adultish, but!!! His babies were trying to hurt one another and that was not good!!! Green bean, golden sprout!!! Stop!!! Baby bud, you're gonna be okay!!! Baby blue, don't cry!!!

FISHER

And then there was fighting. The red eyes had turned on one another, an egg looked terrified, and one was...crying? This was turning into an event, for sure, and Fisher frowned as she looked out at the group. Couldn't they just follow instructions and....well, not....attack one another? She wanted them to find their lifemates, move on, and get things done. Their fighting meant a chance of people getting injured and that was not good.

Bukichi

Events at night were... certainly nothing new for Bukichi, but the young man had been as taut as a bowstring ever since confronting his brother. Tension and simmering rage still warred in him, but he knew those emotions had no place here. Even if he did very badly hope Matotoka found himself savaged by the end of this. Accomplice had been sent away, and it wouldn't be long until Bukichi was on the sands yet again.

It was easy enough to find Aryale, and with a friendly nod to Kiri, he settled by the pair of them with a gentle nudge of his shoulder. A quick, assessing glance told him Matotoka was nowhere near, and he tried to let himself relax. Open, calm, happy thoughts.

Eggs were suddenly hatching left and right.... or, rather, they'd been assisted by a very unhappy green. Bukichi grunted when one of the little queens smacked at her, his lips pursed. Poor baby. Her moment. stolen away.... Bukichi certainly could relate.

It wasn't enough that her sisters had hatched, forever stealing her biggest moment away! It wasn't enough that her sister had struck her, and that her own little swipe was being viewed as uncalled for violence. It wasn't enough that her own hide was not nearly so shiny, and not garnering so many looks, not even from that brown! But people were thinking at her about how appropriate her sister was being, correcting her!

Devastated by this utter betrayal, and at Western, the Brown Paw Print creeled, drawing herself back as the Green Olive queen retaliated. But it wasn't swift enough, for the little queen was tired of the nonsense her sister was perpetuating. She swatted her hard with the back of her paw, sending the green sprawling onto the sands in a disgraced heap.

... Was Papa seeing this?? Did anyone care that she had just been... just been brutalized by this great big bully? Did anyone care that her day was just the worst?

Of course not. Her hide wasn't metallic. They'd probably find a way to twist this, too.
