After having completed three jumps flawlessly, perhaps she was a little overconfident. Perhaps her coordinates were a little off or fuzzy, but for a moment her visualisation wavered. One. Two. Three. As they came out of Between at Balen Hold as they had intended, rider and dragon were shaken. Just because it turned out alright, they still could have been lost to Between. This could not happen again.

It was time and the only thing that could have distracted Marty was Anakumath's nerves, which she quietly and carefully soothed with wave upon wave of confidence. All would be well. That they would later discover that to not be the case was irrelevant. They simply could not worry about each and every of their clutch mates for this drill.

For right now, they had to focus on only themselves - something Martirae could manage with an intense hold on wandering anxiety. She would keep the young gold's attention on her and only her as they made their preparations.

Something had happened amongst the others that hummed through their ranks, forcing Martirae to hold Anakumath with a ginger but firm mental touch. Continue through. This isn't the time, she instructed. Anakumath's anxiety kept nudging at the edges of her mind, drawing her attention to it like a sore in the mouth would lure the tongue to toy at it.

Keenly aware but doing her best to ignore it. Where to now? she asked, leaning into that firmness that would keep her worries from roaming.

And with that, it was time for them to return home. Although they were still somewhat shaken by the near miss previous, and the loss of brother and cousin to the cold embrace of between, High Reaches was their final destination, and luckily it took no effort to visualise their destination. They knew their home well. And frankly, they were tired and needed to return. They needed time to process what happened, and time for Samedith to grieve for his cousin and brother, even if he wasn't particularly close to them.

And now they were above a hold that looked to Tillek, shrugging off the last of the cold of Between. Everything seemed okay, and Soui gave Museth a loving hug and pat as she looked towards their next location.

Her new-found confidence shaken, she gave the coordinates to Aviforth for Seawater River Cothold -- but the loss of K'ell and Eskharath had her nervous. Before the jump between, she paused, and had the coordinates checked just in case..

We have this. It feels a little hollow after the loss of his cousin, but Aviforth was determined to remain positive.

Cavera just looked down at Bloodstone Hold below them, the dark stone of the tiny hold in the cradle of the valley. One jump left, right...? They could do this.

So, this is the area around Nabol. Soui had only heard stories, and her thoughts rang out as they cleared their jump and arrived proper. Museth seemed to be gaining some confidence despite the sheer sadness Soui could feel radiating in her beast's bones, but that was to be expected. Once this was over they would be together in silence, somewhere no one could bother them.

To soothe Anakumath's nerves further, Martirae was careful to double check the coordinates to Dark Woods Hold before they made the jump. The landmarks threatened to blur together, so many memorized so close together.

Martirae had no pride that could be bruised if it meant Anakumath was safe.

    They popped back into the world high above Weavercraft Hall, T'rin's directions slightly off, but only in the most exhilarating way.

    It's quite lovely up here.

    Hm. Do you ever think about— Ingonth's wings pulled in, dropping them twenty feet or so before he recovered.

    What happened?

    I think someone's gone. He knew it, but he really didn't want to talk about it right now. We should get moving.

    Okay. Yes. On to Radharc.

    They disappeared.

It was painfully obvious they were headed home as the last part of their jump, and Soui barely had to give any direction before Museth had them there. It was practically a textbook example of a jump Between and were either lady in the mood for celebrations they would have remarked on it. As it were they simply wanted to be done with all of this for now until the morrow called and they would do it again.

Mother! Mother..... Upon her landing and Soui's dismounting, the white called out to her great and golden Mother, wishing to comfort and mourn. Her father would be needed to, more than any of the children could be, to help ease the second loss to come from this young family.

Home seemed so far away. Cavera's hand patted her beloved dragon's hide, envisioning the coordinates for home, for High Reaches Weyr.. But they weren't.. quite clear. The fuzziness had slipped her by, and even with the loss on her heart, she hadn't thought to check her coordinates one more time. The snap of between bit at her through her riding gear, as she steeled herself for the suffocating quietness that came from the cold void.

One...

Two...

Three...

...

There's momentary panic, as she realizes her coordinates hadn't been right. Four, five... Aviforth's panic cried out into the soundless void, reaching fruitlessly for those he held dear, those he loved-- Ingonth? Venandith?! Skerath--! Mother!! But no one could hear him, as he flew--tumbled? fell? Between was directionless, and the young weyrling had never felt so scared, so lost..

I'm sorry, Aviforth. Were she able to, tears would have fallen. Aviforth didn't deserve this, deserved to live a full, happy life mooning over the dragons he conspiratorially chattered to her about. But her head was getting so light from deprivation of oxygen, her thoughts were getting even muddier. She thought of R'iz, of the sinking horror to leave her brother alone once more; T'rin, though she had never allowed herself to examine the crush so closely; Iathe, and Soui, such good friends... K'tan, too.. She hoped they'd be okay. That they'd all be.. okay..

Zyamel was certain they would make it through all right. Any concern or fear she held within her heart was pushed down and away. There was no room for fear, no room of error. Venandith was also feeling confident and certain, the large brown giving his wings a good stretch as they waited. They had been making these jumps with the weyrlingmaster's for almost a month now hadn't they? Surely, they would be fine.

Martirae again checked - and was apparently recalling a stretch farther up the way from Seawater River Cothold. An amateur mistake, certainly, and Martirae had to keep from feeling frustrated with herself for it. She'd take extra time at Seawater to take in the landmarks - to be certain.
