Please don't let it bother you, Anakumath knew Martirae could feel her itching hide and it made the woman restless in her straps. It also made her even more irritated when the wind blew more of the painted rope into Anakumath's wing. Who had the red? She squinted up again.

At least everybody was going to join in for a frustrating scrubdown at the lake later. Marty, at least, wasn't going to leave all of this paint on Anakumath's hide for any longer than it had to be there./

At least it wasn't actual Threadfall. At least they weren't getting hurt. But Martirae wasn't content with those platitudes - and it didn't help she was always the hardest on herself.

There was nothing fair about Thread and it wasn't as though Z'von had rigged this practice to be extra cruel in some way - unless it was a sibling thing. Tough love. Even still, it was frustrating to Martirae at best. But she'd have a lot of time to mull about it once they were scrubbing all of the paint off.

It had been a sloppy jump. Martirae had gotten used to relatively safer air while with Anakumath and the wind had only added another element to consider. It would have been a bad hit and it twisted her insides angrily.

She needed to take a minute to clear her head - two sloppy moves in a row and now they were both going to need a bath to show for it. Martirae ran a hand lovingly over Anakumath's neck, focusing herself. It was better to know they needed to work harder this way than to find out someway else.

They ducked and turned and dove, but nothing the nimble green could do seemed to be able to shake the falling ropes. Another snag twisted about her headknobs, leaving her creeling again, trying very hard indeed not to think about how things would be if that had been live thread...

A side-blown tangle brushed against the green's narrow chest, leaving faintly darker green streaks that looked eerily like ichor... but thankfully the 'score' was not terribly bad, at least compared to some.

She was still—and would always be, probably—too small and slight to navigate strong drafts with ease. Another threw her up into 'thread', staining her wing with dye that left her unusually irritable, the feel of it like oil on her wing, left un-rubbed in, atypically bothersome.

Another jump, an attempt to dodge, and another hit, this one rolling down the green's back in a long mess of dye. Rare orange and grey swirled in her eyes at the hit—they were going to disappoint everyone...

Not good, not good. No matter how they tried, the poor green had become a multi-colored smear, nearly head-to-tail messed by the ropes. A stern dressing down was coming, she was sure... she'd just have to do better the next time.

More dye, it was beginning to overlap, really. There wasn't much of the little green to hit after all, though somehow it felt like they'd managed to crash through every single clump...

Finally, finally, she dodged a clump... and then was slammed down into it from a gale from above, leaving her belly splattered with dye, and a quiet hiss on her fangs.

Coming out of the roll, Moirath mused. How are we doing? Are we in the lead? Veltanna patted Moirath as more yarn hit them. I am not sure there is a lead. But we are doing fine.
