Nodding his head obediently at his little lady's orders, Ikki made sure to eat and drink something, but only if she fed it to him! "Aaaaaah~" he opened his mouth cutely, imaginary tail wagging anxiously for a treat fed to him by the angelic Eri-chan! As he chewed happily, washing it down with a juicebox, he noticed a person in a labcoat. A memory flashed in his head- but not his memory- and it was weird. "Hit her with a higher voltage we know she can do better," A frown formed on his face as bad feelings stirred in his stomach at the sight of the dude. "Hey, Eri-chan, I've been meanin' to ask- OUCHA CHAA-TA-TA!" his words quickly turned to those of PAIN as his ear was almost RIPPED OFF HIS HEAD. It took him clean off his seat and made him heel at her side, walking over to the field unwillingly. "Gaaaaaaah! I need a good bye kiss from Eri-chan!" he cried, and Mika let go. She was so cruel. Rubbing his delicate earlobe, he pouted as he saw his yummy thighs walk away. "Man, Mika. For someone who was crying five seconds ago you- KA!" his sentence was stopped YET AGAIN as he felt her brass knuckles against the bottom of his chin, making him bite his own tongue and send his head reeling back. How in the heck did Masaaki tame her!? "Th-Witch," he spat, his tongue throbbing from pain, but it wasn't' gonna keep him from talking! HECK NO, but Spade yelling would for a minute. "Alright! I can brawl," Ikki said, throwing out a few punches. He fought bullies and punks at school and around town. He didn't always win, but he definitely had more wins than losses! Now he was going to get some sweet secret agent training and really take on the bad guys. First lessons was...
"Standing?" he was dumbfounded and lost. He thought he had it, but totally didn't. Spade freaking man-handled Ikki. AT LEAST TAKE ME OUT FIRST! Ikki wanted to crack a joke, but he kind of looked up to Spade. The dude saved him by shooting Willow afterall. He didn't have magic or anything. He was just a normal dude with a gun and almost died facing some demonic alien. BUT IKKI COULDNT CONTAIN HIMSELF WHEN HE SAW THE BOXERS. He wasn't agent spade, he was... Agent... pffbbt... HEARTS," he blurted out laughing, snickering over to Kasai and Cyrus, knowing those dudes would get into it. Then he turned his goofy face to Mika and felt a cold chill go down his spine. Eeeeeek. He stood in silence, not uttering another word until the next drill started. "Yea! This is more like it," Ikki got pretty jazzed up, really getting into it and using every muscle he could. He listened to the instructions Spade gave him, totally focused and really getting a good form going. Man, he could feel the difference in the way he threw a punch by just hittin' the air! Man, if he knew how to throw his body around like this a few years ago, he'd be a force to be wreckened with! All was fine and dandy with the drills, Ikki had his blood pumping which made him feel good, until he heard his training partner. "O GOD NO." Ikki would've rather faced an Empyrean! Mika was so fast with her random acts of violence. . He was sure she'd have him on the ground in a heartbeat. Man, why was someone so pretty and sexy a total-
He smacked his own head. No, no! Wrong train of thought, man. Get your head in the game. He's here for Eris! He's here for love! At one point he had a crush on the girl about to kick his a**- "So...you have a crush too? Ikki's going to be really disappointed it's not him" Another daydream- but was it really? He wasn't disappointed at all Mika didn't have a crush on him. He felt something, a bit of understanding about Mika through Eris's point of view. Eris thinks Massaki is a good match for Mika, they compliment each other well. She was right. Both Masaaki and Mika showed sides of them Ikki hadn't seen them show to anyone else. And, ya know what, Ikki and Eris were the same! Taking a deep breath, Ikki wanted Mika to look at him a little differently, because he was on the same side of the coin as she was.
"ALRIGHT MIKA! " he shouted, exhaling his deep breath. He was preparing to get his a** handed to him. "You've got the moves to keep Masaaman from dying, so please!" Ikki bowed his head to Mika in a way to show her some respect. "Don't take it easy on me! I need to learn how to protect Eris," he remained bowed for a moment, before taking the stance Spade had taught them. No goofy grin on his face, Ikki was actually... taking this seriously. So, let him have it!

Mika was beginning to learn that certain people easily drew out specific emotions in her. Masaaki with his own chivalry drew out a kinder and caring side to Mika. Eris with her silent perception made Mika more honest and aware of her emotions. Spade kept her on edge keeping her perception of surroundings sharp. Kyrie reminded her that charisma was a weapon, keeping her skeptical of those with a gilded smile. And then, there was Ikki. "Man, Mika. For someone who was crying five seconds ago you-" anger instinctively forced action. Elbow tucked against her side, her knuckles whitened in a tight fist as it skyrocketed from under Ikki's chin. "Shut it," she snapped, taking a moment to look around at the field team. Everyone here had seen her shed tears. It was not a good first impression and she was sure they were underestimating her. While Mika wanted to use those opinions to her advantage, she couldn't help but be bothered by it herself.
Spade's angry words were finally sinking in. Haruno acted illogically when she saw Masaaki losing his breath. Why'd she panic and blow up the tires? This wasn't the first time she'd overreact where Masaaki was concerned. As someone who was always decisive in their actions, this was eating the girl alive. She hoped for a distraction, but Spade had them go over basic drills. Other mages who had field training would think this was petty just as she did, but Mika respected the chain of command. Body moving on its own, she fell into line doing as the agent ordered while her mind wandered. Eyes cut over at the boys as Spade's pants exposed his underwear. She did not find it entertaining and shot Ikki a cold glare. This was a waste of her time.
"Now, partner up."Ikki instantly cried when they were named. Arms folded under her chest, aggravation evident, she turned to the bumbling idiot. Was this really going to work out? The only thing she deemed worthy of Ikki was his unwavering loyalty to Eris and his friends. "ALRIGHT MIKA!" his sniveling ceased and his crown dipped down to show his humility. It caught her off-guard and all she could do was stare as he pleaded with her. Standing ready, Mika turned her head measuring the worth of his words for a second. However, the look on his face sealed his sincerity. This wasn't some half-assed petty request, but a full-hearted desire to take care of his loved one. It just so happened his loved one was like a little sister to Mika. Oh, he'd learn how to protect her. Mika would make sure of it.
No words of acknowledgment or cruel opinion left the midnight beauty's lips. Instead she came straight at Ikki without warning. A slow punch, one easy for him to block just to get her close. Then she'd bring him down quick. Feet moving fast, she wove around him. Palm sneaking through his stance, she slammed it against his forehead while her hip checked his. In one swoop, his balance was taken away from him. Ikki would be on the flat of his back before he knew it. Mika's magic crackling over him as electricity surrounded her hand as if to deal a death blow. "Again," she sighed, mana stopping as she turned her back to Ikki to let him get to his feet. Once he was in his stance she'd repeat the exact same actions, but slower. "Don't want to get knocked down? Then don't lose your balance," she'd give him some advice, but leave him to figure it out. She was sure no matter how she explained it, Ikki wouldn't get it. He had to experience it. Her actions wouldn't change and she'd keep knocking him down, ready to use her magic on him. Something would have to give on Ikki's side. "You want to protect Eris? You can't even protect yourself," her words were harsh, cutting to his core as she walked away from him yet again. While she acted heartless, she hoped he'd keep getting back up. More than anything, Mika wanted to be at the lab with Masaaki. Was he showing Kyrie the program he made? Mika was distracted by her own thoughts, but kept on going Ikki with the same speed and strength as the first blow.
Entering the lab wasn't anything new. Keito spent more time here than anywhere. Kyrie was easy company. At times she'd forget you were here because she was engrossed in research. He stuck by Eris and Masaaki, standing behind them like a tall shadow. Listening to her introduction, he remained silent even when others from the group asked questions. Keito wondered what they'd be doing here. Then Kyrie pulled out her giant whiteboard. He had never seen it before. It was Kyrie's handwriting on the board. Inconsistent. Emotional. Colorful. He was dumbfounded by her disorganization. She expected them to research off of that rat's nest? There were even theories pointing and extending from individuals in this room. It rubbed him the wrong way, but it wasn't half as bad as what was written about Eris. Keito had never spoken to her about Alpha, but he was sure she knew what Alpha was. "Uh. . . " clearing his throat, he stepped forward. "May I?" he asked Kyrie kindly as he picked up a black marker. His intentions were good, but they would devastate the woman. With her approval, Keito turned to the board. . . . . .and erased it.
Ignoring Kyrie's cries, Keito began making lists. He wrote important topics and created sub-categories. "If we split into groups of three, we can thoroughly investigate each topic. At the beginning of the day, we set goals. At the end of the day, we reconvene to report progress," he was not a leader, so he handed the marker back to Kyrie. Keito returned to his spot behind Eris and Masaaki. Kyrie agreed to the plan and began grouping. "Keito, Eris and Masaaki! You get first pick." There was one subject in particular Keito was curious to explore, but he wasn't going to say. Looking down at Eris and over to Masaaki, he shrugged his shoulders. "I look forward to working together. I don't have much to say about a topic choice. They all look interesting," he'd let one of them make the decision and give no further input.

Eris has been to most of the places here before except for the morgue, so the tour for her was a little dull and uninteresting, though she understood that not everyone in their group was well-versed in the facilities layout as she was many of them were first-timers like Maasaki. Kyrie finished the tour and brought them all to her lab and her office being in the middle of it before showing them a quite frankly, horrendously written whiteboard full of messy scribbles, some of them were so badly written Eris has to squint and tilt her head to one side to actually read what they said.
One note that Kyrie had written caused her to feel genuine concern as she deciphered the scribbled writing that had been scrawled out in blue dry marker 'Did Eris make shields because of her conditioning (can she replace alpha)?'
She didn't know Alpha well aside from the few dreams she'd had of them, the pale-haired mage thought they were sort of pretty, though she got the sense they may feel somewhat lonely and a little sad perhaps as well. Eris was aware that they were trapped somewhere, unable to leave and being used as a generator to protect a horde of empyrean from coming through the tear that had ripped open the sky years ago. Even so the idea of being sent to replace him terrified her; she didn't want her new freedom to be reigned in suddenly, especially not after things were starting to go well, she had friends and a boyfriend who she deeply cared for...having that torn away was the scariest thing she could think of right now.
Shaking her head a little she pushed those negative thoughts away as Keitoos began wiping away the scribes and formed them into neat lists and suggest that they split into three groups to investigate each topic and Keito allowed herself and Maasaki to get first pick. His blue eyes scanned the lists weighing each topic in ehr head at what she found more interesting and what could be most useful for the fight ahead, as Keito said they'd probably be able to research all of them in time but right now she was more interest in how vessel powers developed and how Emyrans even functioned and worked. "I'd like to work on one of those two," She said softly pointed each of them out on the board.

"Oh, crap!" Ikki gasped as Mika came at him without warning. Man, she was fast! His limbs scrambled, trying to move into the position he was taught minutes ago to block. Yo, Mika's knuckles were like steel, but success was his! He totally blocked her. Wow, he could already feel a difference in his reaction time. All he had to do was stand properly and his instincts would do the rest. Right on! Oh, wait. Wrong off? The blondie didn't know what the heck happened, but all of a sudden he was laying on his back with the wind knocked outta his lungs. About to wince and whine, his eyes went wide as they were blinded by a fistful of sparks. Huh, something felt familiar about this... Mika standing over him, spiteful look in her eyes, a bunch of sparks... Yeah, he had daydreamed something like this when Eris was cuddling on his lap. Ugh, it made him feel sick, remembering the feeling of fear and helplessness accompanying the daydream. Ikki wasn't scared of Mika, but he couldn't shake it off.
Nada was said as Mika told him to do it again. He didn't even have time to brush himself off and she was coming at him! Block, blur, balance lost. DANG IT! Ikki was on his back again. What the heck was she doing to knock him down so easily!? She kept slammin' her palm in his face, so he couldn't see. Ikki got up again, immediately ready for her to come at him. This time he felt where her body was going. Her hip hit his before sweeping his feet and slamming him on the ground. He got up a little slower this time, but Mika didn't wait. He almost missed her punch, but his body didn't scramble like the first time. It reacted naturally to block, then grabbing her hand as it went up to his forehead. If he could keep her from face-palming him he could- HIP CHECK! He got twisted by her lower half. "Dang it!" Ikki yelled, getting up as fast as he was knocked down as she stood over him. Mika told him not to lose his balance if he didn't wanna get knocked down. "Well, that's obvious!" Ikki shouted at her, blocking her first punch, catching her hand and shifting his weight to meet her hip against his- SHE WOVE HERSELF LIKE A FREAKING CONTORSHONIST. He still couldn't keep his balance and was knocked down. Hand smacked hers away as she stood over him with voltage crackling. Mika had never used her magic on Ikki. He'd felt little tingles from just touching her or getting smacked by her, like shaking someone's hand who had a buzzer-joke-ring thing, but hitting her electrifying fist stung. It was the same feeling he felt in the daydream.
They kept going regardless. Frustration was building and building in Ikki as he kept getting knocked down. He was no stranger to failure, but the nagging familiarity of Mika's relentless attacks stirred something in him and he couldn't fight the negativity. As he laid on his back for the 50th time, he cut his eyes over at Mika with his fists balled as she stood over him with her crackling fist. "You want to protect Eris? You can't even protect yourself." His fists balled up, he punched the ground and got back to his feet. "I don't care," he shouted at her, blocking her punch, "about protecting myself," he stopped her hand from grabbing his face, "Its all for," his feet moved with hers, pivoting his stance to avoid her fancy footwork, "Eri-chan!" his eyes turned blue as he yelled, not moving to attack her but staying perfectly balanced as the feelings in him unleashed. A psionic push thrusted from his body, knocking Mika away from him while keeping her from tripping him again. He didn't send her flying or anything, but enough to maybe knock her down so Ikki could stand over her for a change. His knees slammed on the ground, straddled over Mika as the sounds of her crackling magic echoed in his ears from the memories he had seen. Ikki was angry. He wanted to hit Mika, like really hit her and not for training. "I'm not gonna let the empyreans, scientists, agents or YOU ever hurt Eris again," he didn't have to say much more to get his point across and although he was ready to hit her, he didn't. Mika would know he knew what she did to his little lady in the past from his statement. The blue faded from his eyes. With a groan, Ikki sat next to Mika with a painful look on his face as he held his head. "Man, all her life they called her pathetic, a waste and that nobody wanted her. All them scars she got," Ikki swiped his thumb against his nose as he sniffled. The way Mika and Eris were now, he couldn't imagine those day dreams being true, but for some reason he knew in his heart they were memories. There had to be good ones for Eris and Mika to even speak to each other, right? Man, he was so worked up he didn't even realize he had used magic.
tabtab🎮 Sitting a moment trying to recuperate a little as he had some water and a snack. Setting another water bottle and snack beside him for Mika while she was talking to Ikki and Eris. He'd missed her speaking to Kyrie about wanting to be with the lab group too. Watching as she came over, holding out water and snack for her, as she spoke to him. "O-oh, I will, you can count on me. Thank you Mika." A light smile, nodding his head, he'd make sure to show his worth in the lab. "I wish we didn't have to separate...but it's just for a little while yea?" Since they were all training together, so this wouldn't be the only time they'd be around each other. Even so, also later in the day when training was done and they went back to the dorms.
tabtab🎮 Following Eris and the others that were tagged for the lab crew. Wide eyed when he saw the haphazard scrawls on the whiteboard. Face turning red from the ones he saw mentioning his name especially. Keito went and erased it all, organizing it into something more coherent. As far as everything else she'd told them, about getting to use whatever in the lab, he looked around at some of the tech around and couldn't wait to get his hands on things there. Looking as Eris picked two possible options off the board. "Those sound good...um...also...maybe this one," pointing to the training simulations one. Mostly thinking about the program he'd made and showed Mika before.
tabtab🎮 He'd taken the flash drive from his bag when he'd gone to change clothes. Stepping closer to Kyrie, handing her the flash drive while others were picking things from the board, "Um I...this was something I worked on just...I thought it might be of some help." Letting her take it to go check it out as he went back to Eris and Keito. Just thinking about the pervious scribbles mentioning him on the board, and thinking about the topic on vessel abilities. He was the only vessel between Eris and Keito and he wasn't sure how they could exactly research things in that area when he couldn't even use any abiltities. "How bout we start on the second one you picked Eris? The Empyrean Studies." About how the creatures functioned and all.
Shaking his head, "agreed, there's something...off with the two of them together. It's unnerving, and she's like...idk a little bomb looking to go off." Sayu and Keito, Kasai would keep his eyes on. Of course it hadn't helped when she brought her attention to him, asking about his mage abilities. Smirking when Cyrus draped his arm around his neck, staking his claim to get Sayu to back off. Patting Cy's back, "Unlike those two...I don't plan on turning my back on my partner and trying to switch things up." Reassuring Cyrus before they got their next orders.
Chuckling, "Ha, the hair dye....maybe some crazy colors...might be funny seeing him come in with purple hair...or something pastel." The whoopie cushion idea too was hilarious. Kasai could barely contain himself as others started laughing, seeing Spade's underwear. Hand over his mouth, snorting, he hadn't expected that move of his to work out as well as it had. The man hadn't known he was walking around bearing his 'heart' to everyone yet. Coughing, as Spade barked at them for silence, trying to keep composed.
Turning to face Cyrus as they started with the combat training, he didn't really want to try and beat up Cyrus. Regardless of Spade's shouting, about being aware of each other's weaknesses, getting their asses up and hitting back. Plugging his ears when Spade came over shouting at them, "GAH....jeez man no need to get your panties in a twist. S'cuse me if I don't feel like hitting my partner." Looking to Cyrus, "I guess we can't get out of this...just...like come at me." He wasn't going to be trying to pummel Cyrus just cause Spade was pushing them. But he supposed they had to still do something.
When Cyrus attacked and threw a punch, Kasai caught his arm and rolled back. Flipping Cyrus over onto the mat, Kasai with his knees on either side of him hovering over him on the mat. Chuckling, "Gotcha," winking at him as he stood up, holding his hand out to help pull him up. "I mean...he's not wrong about us needing to be ready to fight...but we don't have to go at it the way he's barking at us." Sticking his tongue out at Spade's back.
"Here..." Helping Cyrus with his posture, the way he held his arms up and fists and the way he stood. Kasai was being patient and gentle about it, rather then their instructor's barking orders. Kasai holding his hands up, palms facing out "So use my hands like the targets, and punch."

It was only Ikki's mouth that was stupid. Mika was picking up on his adaptations to her constant attacking. He was a brawler, a bruiser and someone who could put up a decent defense. Most of the agents Mika had trained with before would've given up or been winded by now. Ikki kept it up, trying to go toe to toe with her. Sadly, he couldn't. There was too large of an experience gap for him to make headway on her. With his emotions on a sleeve and frustration on his face, she assumed he'd be done within the next few rounds. As he reached his breaking point and raised his voice to her, Mika thought she'd incorporate a new attack to the combo as he finally moved with her weaving to avoid being taken down. However, Ikki didn't give her the chance. An unsettling force bluntly hit her, turning her stomach upside down as she was pushed away from Ikki. It knocked Mika off her feet, forcing her to lose balance and fall to the ground. She went red hot with anger, remembering the few times Eris had used magic on her. The last time, Mika had threatened the girl's life. But before she could get up, Ikki had her pinned and when the Mage's face met with the Vessel's, she was taken aback.
Ikki's jawline tightened, nose snarled, eyes burned and teeth ripped into the air with every word he spoke. "I'm not gonna let the empyreans, scientists, agents or YOU ever hurt Eris again." Mika bit her tongue as he made his declaration, but her glare did not shy away from his. On the inside, Mika was panicking wondering if Eris had confided in Ikki about the treacherous training and heartless beatings. She didn't want Masaaki to know and feared Ikki would blurt it out. Thin brows pressed together, there was a subtle glow to her eyes in response to the bloodlust in his. She was ready for a fight. But then, the violent spark in Ikki's faded as he got off of Mika. Rising slowly as he took a seat next to her, she had to admit Ikki was full of surprises. Holding his head and speaking openly to Haruno about Eris' past, there was something nagging at her. His empathy ran deep, as if he had been there to witness it. However, the awkward feeling was overshadowed by the loving nature he harbored for Eris. Mika wished she could say something heartfelt to the blond, but words couldn't form. Haruno always had a difficult time expressing herself in these situations. She was overwhelmed by memories flooding her thoughts and a litany of things she could say, but only one was vocalized. "Those scars are a testament to her survival, what she had to endure to get to this point. They don't define her,"Mika couldn't help but let guilt swallow her words as she spoke. "And we all have them," she mumbled softly, getting up from her spot next to Ikki.
Mika turned towards him, offering a hand where the light glistened off of the thin ivory scars on her skin. Once he was up and whether or not he accepted her hand, Mika's would soon be placed on her hip. "Did your dumbass even realize you used magic just now?" she asked, a grin in the corner of her mouth. She knew Spade would eventually be running over this way to bombard Ikki with questions, training or both. Mika would stand silently back, feeling like she understood Ikki a little better and fully accepting of his relationship with Eris. She kind of got why the Mage was attracted to him. His loyalty and honesty despite his blunt way of going about it, felt refreshing and was easy to trust. Still, it was nothing compared to the courage and kindness of her sweet sugarplum. With a light sigh, Mika looked towards the direction of the lab. Wondering how things were going.
Cyrus nodded in agreement of the other's assertion about the new odd pair that were now together; his instinct told him that there was far more to Sayu than her unnerving cheery smiles and nosy nature and Keito was FAR more dangerous than he pretended that he was; he had no proof of this of course but it was just a feeling that he'd learned to trust; the way Keito coldly dismisses his former partner without regret made him think that perhaps there was a darkness in him and a spark of madness in Sayu, and they seemed drawn to each other in a way that didn't seem good.
It was always the quiet ones that were the most deadly.
When Kasai reaffirmed that he wasn't going to change partners any time soon Cyrus felt relieved but he played it off as simply being his usual teasing self but the idea of swapping mages to someone like Keito genuinely gave him the creeps; he was no coward by any means but that didnt mean the odd couple wasn't jsut plain weird!
with the odd couple gone he chuckled at the idea of Spade having pastel hair "It has to be pastel pink, can you IMAGINE all the looks he'd get?" He said with a snigger before he followed the redheads gaze to Spade's heart underwear, clamping a hand over his mouth he buried his face in the other shoulder to try and stifle the peals of laughter that were coming from him; he never expected the man to have novelty boxers let alone ones with little hearts on them but this was so much better than he ever could have expected!
He had to force himself to reign his laughter in as Spade barked for their silence and they were put into pairs for close combat; Cyrus knew he was going to suck at this but hey the best way to learn was to do in his experience and if he was going to survive he needed to cover for his weaknesses.
Thankfully they started off with individual combat drills first; punching, kicking blocking and evading, his punches were pretty fast but poorly executed as he really wasn't used to trying to hit someone with his fists; for an archer hurting your knuckles and fingers wasn't exactly great after all, his kicks were equally weak and hard to execute for him, but the blocking and evading skills he seemed to be better at perhaps because he was very used to running away from fights and evading things being thrown at him for pulling pranks.
He felt himself starting to work up a sweat with the warm-up and the combat drills but next, he'd actually have to face Kasai and he couldn't say he was surprised to know that the fire mage was reluctant about it; friends rarely wanted to beat each other up without a reason after all. "It's okay Kasai, gimmie everything you got I can't learn otherwise right?" Sides the better I know how you fight the better we can co-ordinate" He said as he brought up his arms and stance in the way spade taught him as the redhead told him to come at him.
As expected Kasai wiped the flor with him grabbing his arm and laying him out on the floor "That's totally cheating you have to teach me that now" He huffed with a slight pout as he took the others hand getting him up to his feet "I'm inclined to agree, no one wants to punch someone they like without a reason it jsut makes ya feel like a jerk" He said as he rolled his shoulders prepared to try again.
Kasai took a different approach towards Spades training and rather than just punching each other for an hour, he instead helped the brunette to get used to the fighting stance and then he would ask the other to punch his palms seeing them as targets and it reminded him much of what boxing coaches did in the movies though usually they had padded gloves on. Nodding in affirmation he began to strike at his palms through the way he punched wasn't exactly efficient to deliver a strong punch he still struck hard against the other hand making it tingle.
Being an archer meant he had the strength to punch hard, he jsut needed to learn how to do it right without wasting kinetic energy.

Gay? Cocking her head to the side, she looked at the two boys before they took off to run laps. "Eeeeeeh?" Sayu's reaction to Kasai and Cyrus was drawn out as if she wanted to say more, but they were aready off. She wondered if they really had been assigned to each other or if they got to pick their partner. Nevertheless! She'd figure out what his ability was and maybe cause some mischief. They seemed playful enough the way they were harassing Agent Spade. But her attention was turned to her sexy new partner. "Tehehee~" she couldn't help but giggle at the way he winced and eagerly awaited her handshake. He didn't accept it though. Instead he came in hot, making her heart thump as his nose hovered inches away from hers. "That's not how partners swap spit." For the first time in a long time she shirked away. "Hehe, anno..." all she could do was laugh at his comment, because she wasn't sure what to do in this situation. They had been playful and a little flirtatious, but something like this was too fast even for the speedster she was. Being 16 and having attended an all-girls boarding school for the last two years meant she was pretty inexperienced with confrontation from the opposite-sex. Keito pulled away and the tension dissipated. As soon as it was gone, Sayu was longing for it.
"Good luck with your training, Sayu." Big green eyes blinked several times. A little dazed nothing had happened. "D-Do your best, Keito!" she called after him, bouncing from one foot to the other waving both arms in the air like a cheerleader while laughing forcefully. Once he was out of sight, Sayu squatted on the ground to hunch over her knees and hold her head. "Crap! Does that mean he doesn't want to be partners!? Do I need to k-k-k-k-k-iss him to seal the deal?" in the midst of her panic, Spade was back to barking at them. Swaying her head back and forth like she was a ghost, the crazy red head fell into line. Uncontrollable giggles were had the moment she saw Spade's boxers. Fall on the ground. rolling around and laughing, which meant she was sent running laps until she stopped. She missed out on the individual training, but made it back to be assigned her partner.
It was the girl she had just taken Keito from. "Hohohoho," she cackled, holding the back of her hand to her lips mockingly. The girl was still huffy about the swap, she could see it in her face! "The ex! I've been anticipating our paths crossing," Sayu said villainously, voice changing into a cheesy deep one like you'd hear on a cartoon. "Anticipating... It hasn't even been an hour! Whatever, defend against this," Hanzaki was fired up and Sayu liked it! They scrapped for awhile, but Sayu moved like a tumbling spider monkey. She had taken a wide variety of martial arts as a kid hanging around the facility, but never committed to a style. She was a mess and hard to follow, which made breaking Hanzaki's nose easy. "Gotcha!" Sayu teased, watching the girl well up with tears and run off to the medical station. "Spade-sensei! I need a new partner~ How about... him!" Sayu pointed at Cyrus with the crazed smile on her face.

Kyrie was totally excited when Keito came up to her board. Were they going to make a huge discovery right off the batt!? "Go ahead, dear!" she stepped back giving him the floor, but then he erased her masterpiece! Falling to her knees, she helplessly looked up at the tall young man with dramatic tears in her eyes. "Keito-kun! Why?" she whimpered, but watched on as he made organized lists. Keito might not realize it, but he was getting bolder! Standing in front of a group of people to take charge showed how much he'd grown up since starting at Shiri! "Wonderful! Keito, Eris and Masaaki! You get first pick," she told them with excitement, seeing how far Keito's sense of leadership would go, but he fell back in line like a sheep, looking to the two for input. Kyrie continued to put people in groups until she met back up with the first three. "Sounds like Empyrean studies for starters? Okay! Let's get you set up over in this corner. I'll show you how to pull up case files from over the years," Kyrie jotted down a few things on her pad while getting the group set.
The station had a pad like the one she carried, a normal looking PC with keyboard and mouse and a large desk area. Inside the desk were all kinds of office supplies. "Here are the major cases, the ones with most details, vague ones, database of blood hound recordings and civilian recordings," Kyrie gave them all the information from the last ten years and tools to get them to work. "Oh, these are some sketched made by artists while talked to agents and civilians who saw the humanoid Empyreans, One, two and three," she said laying them out. "Here are someearlyencounters too. With the new cocooning theory, I've been trying to get them in order of how I think they develop. I'm guessing the earlier ones haven't morphed at all, but the ones encountered years later and away from the barrier- Oh! Gotta stop myself, this is your project now darlings," she told them with a bright smile on her face. With the flash drive handed to her, she wondered what Masaaki could've given her. "I'll check it out after I get the other groups set up!"

Eris listened to Kyrie as she laid out some images and civilian recordings of early Empyrean encounters, for them to look through and even just seeing the images was enough to make the hairs on the back of the small mage's neck stand up on end; Empyreans were strange, alien and horrific despite their more humanoid appearances now they were terrifying and yet...she couldn't shake the feeling that they were all linked to the creatures due to their abilities.
She had no proof of this, of course, it was just a feeling she had, a sickening, sinking feeling that they may have more in common with those creatures than they wanted to admit, that perhaps the mages being called 'monsters' or 'freaks' wasn't far from the truth.
Shaking her head to push away such grim and disturbing thoughts she looked over the three options and picked the one about communications; after all, Ikki had been affected by and Empyreans 'call' in a way, kind of like a siren song, Willow had also somehow mistaken the empyrean for his dead friend and had worked to protect it when he had the shards...perhaps the communication could also cast illusions? Or was it because of the shards?
She began to brainstorm her ideas on the piece of paper to start with; jotting down events of empyreans communication she'd witnessed both with Mika and Ikki before comparing it with the data in Kyrie's storage banks. A lot of the recordings that had been saved were full of static though Eris suspected that this was lass because of bad equipment and more than the Empyrean's abilities and way of communicating affected the equipment in some way when they 'spoke' to others. To Eris it seemed to be a mixture of white noise and telepathy from what she could tell; vessels it seemed had the capacity to translate this white noise into music or a voice calling to them, perhaps due to the fact they housed mana?
Normal soldiers and agents without mana or magical abilities seemed to have gone mad trying to listen to the creature...and yet Mages were completely unaffected by telepathic communication, at the very least from her experience Eris could not hear the music that Ikki did during the beach incident...perhaps it was something unique to vessels?
Maybe being a mage with their strong abilities and being able to tap into their own mana, prevented such signals from getting through to them, effectively protecting them from the empyrean influence and communication from afar...but vessels who simply housed a lot of mana and had no abilities to speak of currently meant that while they weren't turned mad by these signals, they couldn't block them out either.
This didnt mean mages were immune to hearing Empyrans of course; at least when seeing one face to face, these creatures could talk to mages directly as one had spoken to Mika asking her to enter the gate and called her a 'child of the Empyreans'. Being a child of an alien race was a disturbing thought...it was hard to tell if the alien creature had simply been trying to fool Mika or if its words had been genuine...but if they were truthful what did this mean for the mages? Did the Empyerans see them as kin due to their abilities? Or was this something else?
Perhaps that was something to figure out for later, for now, though she had plenty to work on right now and began organizing her brainstormed notes into an actual essay.
Chuckling at Cyrus' declaration that he cheated, while at the same time demanding he teach him that too. "It's just a matter of leveraging your opponent's weight against them. Getting the right grip and angle, and propelling them with pretty minimal effort to your own body, whilst they go down like a sack of bricks." Patting his back, "We'll focus on the punches and form for right now, but I'll teach you that later kay? Promise," it was a simple enough maneuver once one learned it and understood the physics behind it. "Exactly...though...punching someone you're more inclined to want to punch is a different story." Doing a head nod Spade's direction. He wouldn't mind trying to knock him out.
Shaking his hands out a bit after some punches, "Alright, that's a good start. Course it'll take some time to really build up your strength into it. Plus you don't want to put so much reach into it. You'll end up over-reaching the punch and just knock yourself off balance. You just want to turn your hips into the punch, keeping your stance and putting enough force into the punch without over stretching your arm. Then there's actual movements, like the footwork coupled with the punching if you're going for a moving or retreating target. And you want to make sure you got your fist the right way so you don't risk shattering any bones." Doing some punches at the air to demonstrate how Kasai turned his hips into the punches and then stepped and side stepped whilst punching.
Nearly falling over when he heard Sayu's declaration on wanting Cyrus as her sparring partner. Turning to see Hanzaki running off to the medical station, her nose broken. Glaring, fists clenched together at his sides, "Tch I don't think so, you're like a child who broke her own toy and wants to steal someone else's...if the episode with the partner swapping was any indication." Not to compare Cyrus to a toy, but it was the only comparison he could think of to use with regard to the girl and her demands of taking Cy as a sparring partner. Arms crossed in front of his chest, "Maybe you'd be better off sparring with one of Spade's cr- um...associates...with your rabid animal fighting methods, they'd be better equipped to deal with you." He'd been about to say cronies, but thought he ought to behave at the moment when making remarks.
Looking over his shoulder at Cyrus, mouthing a 'no offense' hoping Cyrus didn't think he was calling him weak, or a toy with his previous remark. He just wanted to deter the tangerine wolverine from getting her claws on him. It wouldn't turn out well, from the looks of Hanzaki's nose when she ran off before.

The pair he addressed decided to swallow their pride and start training without disciplinary action. Spade's eyes gazed at the groups through a pair of Blood Hound lenses. Kabuto and Haruno were diligent. Jaeger and Hana adapted to experience level. Sawamura and Hanzaki didn't hold back. Cigarette lit, he carefully watched everyone's movements. Hanzaki received a broken nose. Kabuto kinectically pushed Haruno away. . . "Uh-" Spade's thought process paused. He was shocked. In theory, they speculated Vessels would develop abilities in conjuction with Mages. Empyrean Ichor was believed to be necessary. A new piece to the puzzle. . . Cigarette put out, Sawamura's request fell on deaf ears. Kabuto's mana signature changed. In order to detect crystalline energy in Vessels, the Blood Hound's sensors had to be amped up. Even then, it was a faint reading. The Hound detected and pinged Kabuto's signature without issue now. Protocol dictated he inform Rokaku and Kyrie. The company man did otherwise.
"Hana, Jaeger, keep it up. Haruno, teach Sawamura a lesson. Kabuto. . ." He dismissed the Mage as the boy's partner. Spade removed his sling and loosened his tie. "Face me," the agent's eyes turned to Ikki, dark. An intimidating essence radiated from his shadow. Trusting his gut, Spade turned off his Blood Hound. "Stand ready," his low grumble was an act of generosity, allowing Ikki a moment to grasp who stood before him. "Defend!" he shouted, one foot planted, free leg raised on a path to Ikki's skull. Kick connected, blocked or dodged, Spade kept up the offensive pressure. Good arm swung as his feet kept moving, clothes-lining the kid right under his jaw. He didn't let up on the boy. Knee square in his chest, Spade pinned him to the ground. Hand around his throat, the agent squeezed. Killer instinct. The agent didn't enjoy doing it, but it was for the greater good. He had to draw out Ikki's impulse to use magic. Every battlemage trained under Spade had gone through it. Violence, desperation, fear. A fighter would rise up and react. Did Ikki have it in him or would he pass out?

Hips rolling from one side to the other, Mika's gaze turned away from the lab to the ruckus on the training field between the red heads. She shot a glare at Kasai when he caught himself about to say something condemning. Her eyes rolled as he selected a better choice of words. For his safety, she'd assume he was speaking of the other agents. Pupils landed on Spade as he came over to the pair. He was set on testing Ikki himself and she wouldn't intervene. In fact, her eyes fluttered in curiousity as he turned off his blood hound. "Haruno, teach Sawamura a lesson." Wishing to protest, she knew when to pick her battles. This was petty and Ikki was about to get dosed with a taste of the training Mika had been put through. The Mage crossed her arms and walked over to the firecracker who had been making a mess of things since she arrived. Mika didn't know her. In fact she had been paying little-to-no attention to any candidates aside from the three she cared about. Even though she and Kasai had been out on missions together, she didn't offer a friendly wave nor did she acknowledge Keito's existence. So, Mika didn't have the slightest clue what what going on.
Sayu clasped her hands behind her back coyly as Kasai chewed her out. She giggled at the way he saw things. "Hai! Hai~ But who do you see as the toy?" Sawamura teased, sticking out her tongue at the boy. Her grin was uncanny as she pointed at the retreating Hanzaki, eyebrows wiggling to prod a reaction out of Kasai. Her finger turned to Cyrus, making an "ooooh," with her mouth before folding her hand into a finger gun to shoot at Kasai. "There's too many kids to share toys with!" she whined, wanting to get rid of the other vessels so she could play with all the Mages. One by one, she'd take them out. Then she'd be the only one left. While she wanted to see what Kasai's powers were, Spade wouldn't spoil her. But she did get assigned a new partner and it was a Mage. "The crybaby bomber who saved the wuss! Ne, ne, you can make things explode, right? I bet we could have a lot of fuuun!" Sayu sang and spoke as she pleased without consideration for anyone else's feelings. Arms stretched above her head, she started towards her new partner with a skip before doing a cartwheel into a pivoting kick.
That statement struck a chord with Mika. Sawamura would learn real quick the only thing sensitive about Haruno was her temper. Closing her eyes, she walked to meet her partner until she heard the skip. While Sayu fluttered towards her, Haruno planted one foot while stepping forward with the other. Elbow up, her sharp bone met with the back of the girl's knees as she swung her arm. Ducking out of the path of Sayu's collapsing kick, Mika stepped into the girl's grounded foot, knocking it out from underneath her. Sawamura fell, but used the momentum to roll into Mika. Palm jutting forward, she went to smash the Mage's jaw into her skull, but Mika's hands were free. Chin tilted, Mika's fist deterred Sayu's path before wrapping around her arm like a snake. With her other hand, Mika bent the girl's palm backwards. "Ouch-cha-cha-cha!" Sayu winced as Mika wrenched on her wrist, feeling like her tendons were being torn apart and electrocuted at the same time. The mage rose to her feet, forcing the vessel to do the same, but Sayu had fight in her. The arm that wasn't captured came around in a fist, punching at Mika's temple. Shoulder up to soften the blow, Mika was still hit square in the temple once, twice, thrice until she finally let go as Sayu's fourth desperate swing came around.
Mika used the red head's momentum from her final swing against her, pushing her shoulder to make her spin leaving her back wide open. Stomping on Sayu's achille's as Mika pivoted in a beautiful display of turning bodies, the Mage's elbow connected with the vessel's upper spine. Sayu's eyes went wide, as the wind was knocked out of her as she stumbled forward. Falling to her hands and knees, she coughed several times. Before her head was wrenched back by Mika roughly grabbing her pony tail. It felt like she was going to get scalped and if the Mage had the strength, she'd rip those fiery red locks clean off. Instead, Mika held tight forcing the girl to look up at her. Eyes intensely unforgiving, she glared daggers down at Sayu. "Do not address my partner as a wuss ever again or I will rip your tongue out and force you to swallow it," there was only one threat made to Sayu and it was on Masaaki's behalf. The battlemage would not tolerate anyone speaking ill of the most precious person to her. Especially ignorant spoiled brats such as this one. With one large swing of her leg, Mika landed the blunt of her foot against Sayu's ribs. And with a large crack, the girl completely fell to the ground as Mika released her hair.
