Eralgais - HR

Well, now he was going to be thinking about his toes all day, but that was all right. At least it would keep a smile on is face. "Don't you worry about staying warm," he reassured the egg, stopping just short of giving it a friendly pat. Someone would take that the wrong way, he was sure. nstead he focused on sending the dragonet under the shell a cheerful reassurance, then turned ...

And found himself practically bumping into the Orange Slice Egg. You're pretty sneaky for an egg your size, he thought, mentally amused. That's impressive.

Black Cat Egg
Well? Oh dear one this egg was doing exquisitely! Yes hello and all that, of course introductions were important but today was a celebration of meeting. Was that tepid excuse of a greeting the best he could do? Flattery dear, flattery gets you everywhere, it is the golden rule. The egg oozed confidence and Itzlel would almost believe he felt a little pat as if to shoo him along.
Dea and #Teddy#

Avocado Egg
Oh meeting new people was never boring and introductions seemed quite proper, not that this egg had much experience meeting many people yet. But how else would one go about learning about those around them if not to greet them? In fact the little egg wrapped Draza up in the warmest greeting it could give, including a little wiggle that seemed to be a bow.
demon_pachabel

Avocado Egg
Warmth seemed to spread from the egg to Eliaza, it was so happy to meet her as well and she would be able to feel it. How respectful of her, this egg quite approved, yes indeed. It certainly hoped that everyone else was just so.
Samuel Carlin

Avocado Egg
The little egg took a long and very deliberate moment to size up Hunthyex, as if intentionally keeping him there in response to his impatience. There was no need to rush and it was going to take it's time, thank you. After some time the egg sighed, it supposed it would be quite a good fighter someday. Would he?
Tsunake

Black Cat Egg
Hello hello! Welcome to the clutch's most perfect egg! This egg was practically glowing with the attention it was receiving and yes, the pleasure was all Oranie's. Worry not about siblings of any kind dear, come snuggle up and tell this egg how pretty it is. Oh won't you please?
Tsunake

Black Cat Egg
It was having a wonderful day, so many candidates coming to see it? How could the egg not be having it's best day ever?! A small wiggle had the egg dancing beneath Dalini's fingers, oh go on, how precious she'd been even bowing to the clutch. Yes, this girl got it. No accidents here.
Prism Shine

Black Cat Egg
Was it excited? Of course dear! Drag that whole crowd over to it, shine a light on it's shell, this egg was ready to have it's moment! But without a crowd it simply sucked in Alisaide's attention and basked joyfully in it. Waves of confident elation oozed off of it towards the candidate.
Zaikt

Black Cat Egg
Ah, striking! Now there was a good description for it, how nice of Rahimar to notice that it was! It was doing splendidly actually but if he would be just so kind as to tilt it's shell ever so slightly? Give the little egg a rakish look, draw even more of these lovely candidates to it's shell, yes yes, that's the way. Strike a pose early!
Uta

Black Cat Egg
For just a moment the little egg took a chance to peruse through Nalacko's mind, something it hadn't done just yet with any candidate but her thoughts had caught the little egg's attention. This egg could see everything! All these precious candidates all gussied up to come and see it? What a wonderful day this would be! The girl would feel a jolt of joy rush through her. Dream big darling!
magnadearel

Avocado Egg
Its shell? Was its shell cheerful, it wasn't as if the shell made the dragon now was it? The little Avocado went silent pondering this for a moment and then gave something like a huff. It could be cheerful or angry or even churly if it wanted to be, outer apperances could be decieving. But it wasn't cruel and the small egg gave Rundanrul the egg-quivalent of a pat on the hand before shooing him off to learn more from it's siblings.

Itzlel He/Him

Itzlel arched an eyebrow when the black cat egg replied to him, well, it seemed that this little one was doing better than well. Though, it seemed his humble greeting was found to be..lacking, in this baby's opinion. Well, he supposed he shouldn't be surprised, they had been warned each baby had a personality. He thought about what the egg said, a celebration of meeting, hmm? That was an interesting thought, he supposed they were doing something like that. His brow arched even more when the baby in the egg spoke about flattery, so it seemed they liked hearing good things. His parents had taught him about how people sometimes responded better when you complimented them, meaning they would sometimes do better with trades.

You have very striking markings that remind me of eyes. I like the way you seem to stand out, being a darker color than some of your siblings. However, I will allow others to give you more admiration,he spoke, figuring to give the baby a little of the attention they asked for. Then having got the hint of what felt like a pat to shoo him off, he headed to the egg that was right next to this one...the Blue Moon egg. Maybe he should take the suggestion of the other egg, to try flattery. He figured it was worth a try, his parents would tell him it was..if they were here. He pushed any thoughts of that under, steeling himself before laying a hand on the shell.

Hello in there, bright one. Your shell is a very lovely blue, almost a glow to you,he commented. It was simple compliments and not as cheery as it could be, but he was trying.

Eggplant Egg

This egg paused for a moment after Heida placed her hand on its shell, taking its time to browse now that the opportunity had been offered--love and warmth and greetings, yes, yes, that was all well and good. Excitement, though? If Heida thought this was exciting already, she'd have her socks well and truly knocked off when it was finally time for the Eggplant Egg to hatch. Perhaps she'd even get to appreciate the show, it mused.

Rainbow Egg

At Chakuri's touch, the Rainbow Egg seemed to straighten up, briskly coming to attention--someone was here to see it, after all, and they both had a job to do from here on out. Cold outside, was it? Right, then. Chakuri had best be sure to bundle up appropriately as soon as she was done here--it wouldn't do to catch a cold after all this fuss, now would it? She had duties to get back to, and there was no shirking those.

Tsunake

Eggplant Egg

A wonder? Well, well. That was the kind of thing the Eggplant Egg liked to hear, and it certainly appreciated that Yeliya had had the good sense to recognize just how wonderful it was right off the bat. At least some of these Candidates had taste. The swell of pride from the dragonet within was unmistakable, tinged with a warmth that could just about take on the cold outdoors.
Perhaps she'd like to stay a while and tell it some more nice things, seeing as she'd already started? Who needed all these other eggs, anyway?

Samuel Carlin

Rainbow Egg

Oh. Another one. That would do quite nicely, the Rainbow Egg thinks.
Relku was...nervous, and it could tell immediately--after a somewhat awkward moment of careful consideration, it reached out, effectively delivering the mental equivalent of a somewhat stiff shoulder-pat. Chin up, now.
As for being stuck in here, though--the Rainbow Egg didn't have much opinion on it one way or another. Everything came in due time, after all, and it would be out soon enough.

Meepfur

Eggplant Egg

Top notch? Marvelous? Nice pats? Oh, Melka, the Eggplant Egg was practically basking in all this attention. Keep talking, sweetheart--it was absolutely certain it deserved every bit of praise, and it wanted to make sure Melka could see how great it truly was. Wasn't it the best egg here? She'd had the right idea earlier, though--the other eggs may not be lesser, exactly, but the Eggplant Egg was certainly more. Why not stick around and appreciate that better?

Uta

Rainbow Egg

Okay, sure. Number three. By now, Rainbow had gotten into the groove of things, and was a little faster on the draw in response to Jemaselle's touch--some digging here, some gentle nudging there, and it had had its fill of browsing.
Was it cheerful, though? It wasn't sure that was the most accurate descriptor out there, but if Jemi wished to call it that, it supposed she could. If it was bright, that was probably lovely for somebody, but the egg itself couldn't tell.

Shaddaling

Rainbow Egg

The Rainbow Egg stirred under Nuamia's hand, almost as if reassessing the situation--her enthusiasm was certainly noted, and it would respond with a brisk sort of polite acknowledgment. She'd come such a long way to meet this egg, and it was grateful for that; that was a lot of effort to go through, and it spoke to her dedication.
Hello to you too, Nuamia. The Rainbow Egg hopes you've prepared for its siblings as well.

Relku - he/him

The mental pat was quite unexpected, as he wasn't aware his chin had been down, as it were. Still, he appreciated the gesture. Thanks, I guess. Awkward! The young man bid Rainbow Egg a hesitant but well-wishing farewell with Hope the rest of your day goes alright. It was a nice egg, clearly, but this was awkward for both of them, so better to go than linger and draw it out.

As he stepped back out of the way, he had a look around to determine his path; some of the eggs were looking rather busy, so he'd come back to those later. Relku ultimately decided to head for the cheerfully yellow Sunshine Egg and placed his hand upon it. You're a bright one, he observed, Not that no one's told you that already, or that what your shell looks like has much to do with anything. Still, you're the most sunshine I've seen in awhile.

Jemi High Reaches Weyr - She/ her

'Nice to meet you though,' Jemi said, letting the eggs thought and idea slip away. She stood up considering the clutch and headed to the Happy Ghost Egg. It was just so cute looking. 'Hey, how is the touching going for you?' She laid a hand on the shell, listening to the little dragon inside.

Remdianori He/him - Western

Sometimes Remdianori wondered if swapping to High Reaches was a good idea. Sometimes he hoped that he would. It was complicated being here. But that was neither here nor there. The reason of the day was eggs. And so his focus would be on the eggs. After bowing to the queen, he approached the Avocado Egg and placed his hand on the egg. “Pleasure to meet you.”

Divisti She/her - High Reaches

This was the beginning. Well, not really. The flight had been the beginning of the clutch, but this was the beginning of her involvement. She wanted to make a good impression. Vaguely Divisti remembered that some eggs didn’t like it when all you said was hello. But what do you say to an egg to start off. It was rude to presume anything, and highly discouraged.

These weren’t the thoughts to be having now though. So she put them from her mind and bowed to the gold. Then she approached the Corn Egg and placed her hand on the shell. “I am sure you will be the best dragon.”

Heida -- HR, she/her

"Oh? Then I can't wait to see you!" Heida grinned softly, giving the large egg one more pat before moving on. Exciting? She really was excited now. This was going to be a good clutch, she just knew it. And maybe it would be her time at last! Regardless of that, she hoped all the hatchlings would be healthy and find Theirs, even if it wasn't her.

Looking around, she moved over to the 90s Picture Day Egg and, as before, placed her hand on the shell and let warm, loving, welcoming thoughts fill her mind. "Hello there," she smiled. "Your shell looks amazing. I bet you're going to be amazing too!"

Eliaza - HR

Why in the world had she ever been skeptical of dragons and this whole process at all? She'd been wrong to think this was anything less than wonderful, wrong to doubt any moment of it, and the little Avocado egg had just reenforced that thought. She answered its offered warmth with gratitude, then took a careful step back and drifted toward the Blue Moon Egg. Hello, she thought fondly as she put her hand against the deeply-colored shell. You seem like you should be a peaceful sort. How do you feel?

----

Yeliya - HR

Wht an invitation! With feelings like that, Yeliya actually groaned a little, quietly, and offered an apologetic I wish I could. Think I'd get chased off eeventually. But I'll see you again. Because, of course, she would. Her fingers lingered as she moved away from the egg, and turned toward a neighbor instead. Not sad at all. Hw could she be? What would be the point of that? Nothing. When she touched the Rainbow Egg, it was to ask, Are you feeling as cheerful as you look?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 19, 2020 3:37 pm
Chakuri - She/Her

Oh! Chakuri automatically held herself a bit straighter in turn, nodding even though the egg couldn't see her. She would! She got the same sort of authority she felt when F'dral was talking--it made her want to snap to it in less she disappointed the egg! She even gave a little bow before she trotted off, determined to make sure she wouldn't get herself sick.

The Happy Ghost Egg was the next egg she paused by, placing a gentle hand on the shell. Hello to you in there! Chakuri hoped the egg was doing well and having an okay time so far.

Dehka - He/Him

Oh! Dehka's heart swelled with tender feelings as he was greeted by such earnest affection. "I'm really, really excited to meet you." He whispered to the egg, aware that he was beaming like a fool. How could anyone not be touched by such a greeting? "I hope you get to meet yours today--but if not, soon!" He promised, reluctantly pulling back.

The Orange Slice Egg would be the next he touched, still radiating happiness from his earlier encounter. He was glad to meet it and its siblings! He knew he was incredibly fortunate, and he hoped the egg had met some interesting people today!

Hunthyex - He/Him

He was met with silence. Hunthyex remained composed, waiting.. and when the egg did respond, he got the sensation that it had been deliberately poking at him. Hm. It was a fair response. He certainly hoped he would, but that would remain to be seen--it would be impossible to fight Thread without a dragon. With the mental equivalent of a bow, he removed his hand and stepped away.

The Lisa Frank egg was his next stop, and he admired the colorful shell for a moment. A beautiful egg--no doubt the dragon inside would be just as stunning, if not more so.

Liniyah - She/Her

Liniyah couldn't help but jump at the 'bite' she received, looking wide-eyed and bewildered more than hurt. "Sorry." She murmured, removing her hand at once and moving on. That was perfectly all right. Her mother's own dragon could be temperamental, and that was putting it mildly.

She mulled over her next choice for a moment, then decided to touch the Star Egg. Maybe this one would be more receptive to company, but if not, she didn't mind one bit. You're almost right in the middle. She thought, trying to visualize the eggs to offer a better idea. If... that even mattered. Which it didn't.

Oranie - She/Her

Oh! You're absolutely breathtaking. Oranie needed no encouragement to praise the egg, admiring its confidence. I bet you'll be even more spectacular when we finally get to see you. As tempting as it was to stay and do as the egg requested, Oranie didn't want to deny other people an opportunity to say hello. She pulled back, moving onto the next egg.

The Eggplant Egg would be touched gently, and Oranie couldn't help but admire the size of it. It's lovely to meet you. I'm very grateful for the opportunity.

Vannek - remaining at Number 2 Pencil Egg for one more go

"Well, it's not so very silly now," Vannek replied immediately, peeking at the candidate closest to him to make sure they weren't listening to his side of the conversation. When he spoke again, the words were only in his mind. I didn't think conversing with you would be quite so lively. It's remarkable. Can you hear me?

Since he'd arrived at High Reaches a few short months ago, it had been drilled into Vannek's head that the dragons in their eggs would be just as present, just as intelligent as they would be outside of the shell. It was one thing to hear it again and again, and another to experience firsthand. Later, he would be disappointed that he'd let his guard down so thoroughly, but right now he was rather charmed.

Candidate Nalacko - she/her

After so many clutches, the teen was use to the odd sensation of having an unshelled baby dragon rummaging around in her mind. She stood quietly and let the baby see what it wanted. Nala smiled. Yup, we are here for you all. We get to meet you and that makes it a wonderful day! Right? The eggs were happy to meet them too weren't they? At least little Black Cat was.

The jolt of joy sent a shiver down her back. Nala chuckled softly. As big as a dragon? I'll try. As much as she wanted to stay with this delightful little dragon, she had to make room for others. With a last pat the teen moved further into the clutch. She headed toward Happy Ghost Egg. The cute little expression on it's shell just called to her. Nala lightly brushed her fingers against it.

[ candidate ciraine ] - western weyr - she/her

The Funfetti Egg was so welcoming, and if Ciraine would have had the opportunity, she very well might have lingered a little longer--as it was, however, F'dral had already slipped away to talk to somebody else, and she wasn't fond of the idea of finding out what kind of mood he was in after all that.
I'm really sorry, but I do have to keep going. Maybe we can have another chat after you're hatched, though! That--actually sounded rather nice, she thought. I'm sure you'll be spectacular.

From there, she had to step back and look back over the clutch, which was somewhat easier said than done. Navigating through all these people seemed daunting, but maybe if she went here instead of over there--oh. Now somebody else was where she'd wanted to go, and Ciraine found herself turning abruptly to avoid them. In some ways, winding up at the Orange Slice Egg had been a little bit of an accident. A fortunate one to be sure, given everything. After taking a deep breath, she placed her hand on the egg with a touch more confidence than last time--every feeling she held in her mind was as warm and welcoming as possible, ready for the egg to see.

Blue Moon Egg

There was a distinct sense of a pout beneath the dark hued shell. Blue Moon did not like that Finnisia was talking to everybody! Excuse you! This egg was right here, yo! Right here. Did she think it didn't notice that it wasn't the only one on her mind? Huff, huff, huff. Well... it was good that she was glad it was here, but she wasn't paying enough attention! Didn't she know that that was rude?

ShinosBee

Although still a little sulky over its clear mistreatment, the egg perked up slightly at Miela's polite greeting. Oh! Oh, here it was! The egg's due, and wrapped up in such a pretty package! Oh my! Hello dear! the egg trilled excitedly, reaching out to suffuse the girl in its presence. Why don't you stay for a bit? It wanted to languish in her company. What a pleasant girl indeed! The cloying touch of the egg continued long after its own greeting had passed.

Hattaki

Why yes, and he should feel privileged! It was a perfectly wonderful egg, and if it grabbed greedily at his awareness, then surely he would just be honored that it had said hello. It was front and center, right where it could meet the very one that was meant for it... though it was not telling about who that might be. Maybe Kahbrohm just knew a great egg when he saw one.

demon_pachabel

The dragonet within the egg was mightily offended that another's presence still lingered on the hand of the one who dared touch it next. Why hadn't he had the good sense to touch it first? Didn't it deserve to be touched first? Did he think it had selected this spot at random, right at the front of the clutch? Well, no one needed to know that its mother moved it often. But it had made its opinions known. Huff!

Dea and #Teddy#

Um? What? Was she actually making an assumption about its character based off of its shell? Who said it was a peaceful egg??? It was not a peaceful egg, it was very lively! It had passion! Verve! Did she want a peaceful sort? A hint of irritation wrapped the girl as she pressed her hand against the egg, though that irritation was now directed at the thought that she might now leave its side because it wasn't serene.

Samuel Carlin

Lisa Frank Egg

Why, of course it could hear their thoughts. What a silly question! It was a dragon, was it not? But it forgave them for their mistake. It was, after all, a magnanimous creature. Bigger, indeed, than its shell. Not to mention that they were thinking such lovely thoughts at it. Yes, it was going to be very beautiful. Just let them wait and see! As for the color of its hide... well, they'd have to find out at Hatching time. But it assured them that there would be no disappointment on that score.

ShinosBee

The bouncy creature that pressed her hand against its shell reminded the egg of some of its siblings. It was far too elegant a dragonet for such ebullience, but it did not dislike it. The effervescent presence she gave off was not off-putting. Yet it did not meet her where she was, rather asked that she meet it at its own level. A level above the rest, surely. How do you do? it said, with the presence of a lord or lady of a Hold. It, of course, was a dragonet. It had not announced its name as of yet, nor would it until the proper time.

Shaddaling

And why shouldn't it be the best pick for his first? Certainly, Lisa Frank was the best pick for anyone's first. Those who had chosen otherwise had merely mistaken the matter. But of course it was ready - did Kedriom suppose it was here for some other purpose? This Touching was its... and its debut. Wasn't meeting people rather the point? How droll.

Ah, but he was thanking it for the honor, and as well he might! He should be honored. Good. The egg gave off a sense of approval. Very well. Now that he had paid his respects to the egg of the hour, he might be allowed to move along to... well, the rest. Might as well meet the rabble.

Zaikt

Correction - they were there to meet it. More incidentally its siblings. Yet she had the proper attitude, seemingly aware of what the purpose of this affair might be. Perhaps another egg might be easily overwhelmed, but not this egg. To Heleste, the egg gave off a sense of faint amusement. Good of her to remember this... it knew its siblings very well indeed, and she might keep it in mind for the future.

faesinger

Over Velara washed a strongly confident aura. This egg rather approved of her desire to be a part of such a grand tradition. Indeed, she was now a part of an historic event! For this was the very first time the Lisa Frank egg was meeting someone besides its mother and father. Beyond that, there were some thousands of Turns of tradition behind it, and that made the whole affair all the more filled with pomp and circumstance.

dawns_aura

Actually, it was not tucked behind anything. That was a matter of perspective. Did she not see that it was at the very front of the clutch? Rather, the entire clutch was behind it! And beyond that, its mother liked to move it here and there. Really, one could never really know with mothers. Its mother was very dutiful in her egg turning routine, but sometimes an egg liked to be where it could be seen. If Versha was asking whether it liked attention... yes, it did. It did not know what a spotlight was, but it certainly had no desire to hide its magnificence.

SilverLutz

Why, it would certainly be stunning. A stunning shell for a stunning dragonet, don't you know! He might admire it a moment longer, if he so chose. It was indeed a fantastic example of the breed. It could go on at length about the many ways in which it was superior to any other egg, but to do so seemed so... outré. Rather, it would leave him with the impression that he had been graced with glory.

Moo Cow Egg
The black and white egg would tremble beneath Rahmsii's touch, but it wasn't out of fear. It was... angry. The little being inside was growling, in its not-entirey-fully-formed way. Perhaps that was warning enough?
Spockat

Orange Slice Egg
The egg would perk up a bit at Elibrie's touch, before leaning against her hand. Ah, yes! This egg wouldn't miss this for the world. It's a wonderful moment for both egg and Candidate, and this egg is grateful to Elibrie as well. How good of her to be doing her part and meeting all of its clutchmates! Are there any eggs it likes best? There would be nothing but warmth shrouding the egg, and a small hint of approval. She certainly seems like a good girl and Orange Slice wanted to know more..
Meefur

Moo Cow Egg
The growling within Moo Cow seemed to get a bit louder, and the egg's trembling continued as Surel touched in. In fact, the woman's previous mood would start to feel irritable, touchy, and otherwise a bit aggravated. Grrrrrrrrr.
SilverLutz

Orange Slice
Oh, I do beg pardon--though I might say I'm less sneaky and instead counter with the fact you might be unobservant? There was no bite in its words, nothing but jovial good humor. It wasn't meant to be a true insult. The egg certainly hadn't meant to be in Eralgais' way, but here it was all the same. Thankfully, the Orange Slice egg wasn't at all put-off or upset, and it sent a wave of good humor. It doesn't matter how they meet at the end of the day, provided they're all here together. This egg hopes the boy is having a very good time of it--Orange Slice certainly is.
Samuel Carlin

90s Picture Egg
The little egg would be surprised, but ever-so-happy to meet Heida. Oh, does it? The egg doesn't really know what its shell looks like, but how kind of her to be so complimentary! Heida is even more amazing than this egg, to be so kind. Amazinger? Yes. Heida is the most amazinger Candidate this egg has met. Joy and genuine admiration and pleasure would radiate from this egg.
tatterpixie

Orange Slice Egg
Oh, what a good boy Dehka is! There is staunch approval from this egg, even as shifts closer to the boy's touch. This egg does come from a rather impressive family, doesn't it? Its lineage, history, and tradition is nothing short of spectacular, don't you agree? Being a Candidate who knows all about these things, Orange Slice would expect nothing short of praise for its family. Keep up your studies, lad--there's never any shame when it comes to being excited about dragons.
Tsunake

#2 Pencil Egg
Of course it's not silly--and of course it can hear! There would be amusement from this egg, and it would give a little rock beneath Vannek's hands. You've found the best egg out of this bunch, so I'd imagine my clutchmates might be less of a thrill. Still, how good of you to remain. Unlike SOME out there, who don't bother to reply after being spoken to--hmph! A tingle of irritability would wash over the egg and up Vannek's arm, before settling. Now sit here, and admire my company, or at least grab a friend or two. Hop to it.. It wasn't a request, but a command.
Smerdle

Orange Slice
Ciraine would receive some warmth, though the egg would give the equivalent of a pat-pat. Well, she certainly needn't linger if it isn't where she wants to be. No offense taken--though it would suggest keeping those thoughts a bit more hidden as some of its clutchmates might not be so forgiving. Cheer up, lass. Today is a good day for all of them--eggs and Candidates. There are plenty of eggs out there, and all of them good ones--take Orange Slice's word!
Zaikt

F'dral & bronze Sinrunth
The man stared, unmoving, as Whren burst into sobbing tears. His face didn't change, and he waited until the boy had calmed. Unfortunately, Whren hadn't exactly said anything about his encounter, or what set him off. Perhaps he wasn't ready to talk about it, but one thing was for sure--he wasn't in any state to continue with the hatching.

"I think you should return to the Barracks for now. Settle yourself, collect your thoughts, and we'll talk later." Here wasn't the time or place to do this--the eggs might not be anywhere near, but this wasn't an appropriate place for a Candidate break down, nor for him to unravel. If he needed to send him to a Mindhealer, than so be it--but if one negative reaction from an egg was going to result in this, then there was an equally good chance this young Candidate wasn't ready for a Hatching, either.

Bah.

He'd need to sort that mess out later.

"V'res will accompany you to the Barracks. Just try to relax, and we'll talk later. Come on now. Deep breaths. There'll be other Touchings." It wasn't entirely a lie. There would be other Touchings and other Hatchings. Whether or not Whren was ready for them would be a different story, and one he'd need to unravel afterwards.
