Corona gazed upon the wasteland at this stranger's beckoning, but saw something he didn't. Bidding the seamster adieu, the young Deathrage made her way to the garden of flowers, making sure as usual not to draw any unwanted attention.

"Hey, Gramps!" Corona said cheerfully, waving to the much older Hanabi.

...or if they even believed what she said.

They didn't.

DragonFang099

Jay wasn't the least bit intimidated by the hunk of muscle in front of him. If anything, he was a bit excited by what was going on. It had been too long since he and Bluefur had been in a good scrap, though the last time, Lu had chewed both of them out for it. He could hear Yuni speaking from behind him, though he didn't pay much attention to it. "It's always the same with ye blockheads," he said, giving a slight sigh and a shake of his head. "Ye always think that just because ye're bigger that ye can bully those smaller than ye into obeying. Well, I've got news for ye, I'm not so easy to intimidate. Give me yer best shot!" He knew that speed and agility were his best chance to avoid the mammoth in front of him, and he gave a discreet signal to Bluefur, the Lucario glancing at Yuni as if to make sure she was alright before taking off at a dead run toward Hanzo, using the wall nearby to run past the man with Extreme Speed before making a beeline for Garbanzo to deliver a swift kick to the man's arms in an effort to get him to let Jolteon go.

Darksol88
"What I-" Seeing the sudden acrobatics from the fishmonger was a sight that she wasn't expecting, managing to catch her completely off guard. She'd snap out of it when she realized that he'd taken her remarks about crushing her head like a Grepa Berry to heart, her scrawny frame allowing her barely enough time for her survival instinct to finally kick in and stumble out of the way.

Her Jolteon wouldn't be quite as lucky, being caught up on trying to protect their trainer before Garbanzo got the slip on them. Before they knew it, they were tackled down and kept in a choke hold. Electricity would build up on impulse, hoping to retaliate, but the rubber gloves meant this wouldn't do anything of note and awkward position meant biting one of the hands was out too. This left them with few options that weren't struggling to break out, burning through already cut air.

The girl's attention, justifiably, would quickly be split between the fishmonger and what Garbanzo was doing to Jolteon as she got to her feet- and she was quickly being overwhelmed, wishing she'd just gone down a different street or stayed home today. "L-let them go!" She screamed, looking between them as panic began to set in.

"Hey! Watch it!" Garbanzo grunts, tilting the Jolteon reflexively to put it in the way as a shield to protect himself from the oncoming Lucario. Those spines certainly were going to be a nice deterrent he hoped. At the same time it did free the Jolteon to have a little bit of leverage - he needed to take the risk at the moment to ward off the oncoming Steel-type.

Hanzo, definitely not the unthinking brute Jay had perceived him to be, makes like he's going to wind up for a massive punch and then scoops a handful of dirt up from the street in one fluid motion, hurling the clod into his opponent's eyes. He swiftly (even for a man his size) knocks Jay aside with a sweep of his arm while he's off balance and re-acquires the little bunny girl from behind him. He pats her lightly on the head with one of his massive hands.

"Unfortunately for you little girl." He grumbles in that low tone. "Buneary's pretty good eatin' round these parts."

--

The fishmonger doesn't flinch as the girl dodges between his Dragon Claw and rolls to the side. Seeing her panic, he sweeps her leg out from underneath her as he fluidly rolls his momentum into his next attack. Planting his foot on her chest once she falls - he pulls a slender fish deboning knife from behind his back, slid through his rope belt for his only article of clothing. Placing two fingers to his lips he whistles, loudly. "Okay!" He says, looking at the various fighting groups. "We're not doing this 'oh my god damsel in distress' bullcrap any more here."

He places the slender blade up against the as-of-yet unnamed girl's throat. It turns ever so lightly, perfectly balanced up against her skin, the sharpened point drawing a small drop of blood. "If you." He nods towards Jay. "Want nothing to happen to her." He twists the knife ever so slightly for emphasis. "Or her." Hanzo hefts the Buneary hybrid by the back of her shirt with one hand. "You are going to act like nothing happened and you are going to continue on your merry little way. I don't know what kind of fairy-tale a** parents you had but this isn't a world for heroes. Do I make myself crystal clear?" He glares down at the Lucario and Jay, eyes burning.

Yuni giggled weakly at the prospect of being eaten, but couldn't move fast enough to do anything under the poison before being picked up. Being vertical did position her hand closer ot her purse, though, giving her the opportunity to pull something out.

"Yeah, screw all that crap," she said quietly, followed immediately by the sound of something popping open. A bright light flashed in front of the shark man - placed directly between the two captive ladies - revealing a very powerful - but very old - Gardevoir. Already aware of the situation, Rala wasted no time levelling a Moonblast at the hybrid detaining her trainer's descendant, but the point-blank range wasn't the safest for the aged Psychic-type.

She slowed down when she got into the Flower City and once she was near her zone, she started to act like she was in serious pain.. Granted, actually having wounds made it easier to exaggerate. "Ow ! Ow! Someone help me!!" The locals and a guard took her to an infirmary.
Once she sat on a hospital bed, the guard cuffed her to it. "Really? Is it really that necessary?" The girl complained, pulling on the cuff, trying to get her hand through it in vain.
The guard left as the nurse came in. "Again?" She sighed. "Have you considered not going out a lot? There's a reason we are separated from those animals." She checked the frozen-over scar on the girl's face with another sigh. "Anywhere else?"
The girl lifted her shirt to reveal a fresh bruise among plenty other bruises, some still healing over. The body looked more like a rainbow than the usual color of skin.
"Well, for this I need to get something from the storage. Is there anything else?"
"No."
The nurse left the room, and she tried to break away again. Eventually, she gave up and came up with another plan. She released a Mimikyu. It sat on her legs staring at her. "Go go go go go!" The girl rushed the pokemon over to a shelf. The little thing twisted around and slided over to where the trainer pointed at. "On the left!" She whispered at it. The Mimikyu grabbed a few vials and shoved it under its disguise. "Ok, ok, come on, come on!" She rushed it to hurry back. Once it got closed enough, she returned it to its pokeball just in time before someone walked in.
"Alycia!!"
Her heart beat spiked even further as her step-mother somehow found her. The girl just hoped that she hadn't seen anything.
"I heard my Ninetales had been injured! Why did you go out there again?!"
"Err.. Just trying to share the food we have." The girl responded.
"Nonsense!! I never want to hear of my Ninetales going off to some disgusted place filled with those peasants. EVER!" She continued to yell at Alycia, "Did you think that putting on This Appalling color on your hair was going to stop those barbarians?"
"Excuse me." The nurse asked for permission to pass through as she returned.
"You'll be getting the bill for my Ninetale's hairdresser!" The woman left stomping, perhaps in an even worst mood than how she entered.
The nurse used some high tech machine to help Alycia's recovery. "I'm sorry, I don't know how she got passed the guards. Usually they're very strict about the emergency section and they never let visitors in."
"Oh, I know..." She said under her breath.
"That should be all! The scar wasn't too deep but these bruises will take a day or two to heal. You really should stay in bed to finish healing all of these..." The nurse trailed off, probably wondering if it made a difference at this point to say anything about it.
"Mhm, thanks, can I go now?" She asked in a rush.
The nurse called the guard to escort Alycia out. The girl knew she had to get to her room to get the vials from the Mimikyu as soon as she could. The process of exiting the infirmary was always the slowest minutes of her life. She also kept thinking about her Togekiss and how she would need to rush to the pokemon section before her step-mother had any ideas of taking the Togekiss away on top of the Ninetales.

Leon heard a young child call out, breaking the silence. He looked to see who it came from as it was only Corona. A child who has no Pokemon of her own he took in. Roserade greeted Corona back cheerfully, relieved that she was okay. "Did you cause any more trouble out there today?" Leon said as he shoved his photo into his pocket.

Roserade didn't like the comment her trainer made as she ignored it and walked over to Corona and merely patted her head with her giant roses for hands. Leon merely watched this interaction between the two. As only painful memories flooded his head of what the world was before the calamity.

"No more than I needed to survive on," Corona replied, smirking with a malevolence that befitted a Deathrage descendant. Distracted by the Roserade, Corona would happily hug the Grass-type. "Hello to you, too, Rosey," she said loudly, taking some small pleasure in nicknaming the Pokemon when its trainer would not.

Jay barely spared a glance at Garbanzo as Bluefur managed to get him to release his hold, if only a little, on the Jolteon. While getting hit by the spines on the Electric-type's fur did hurt a bit, it was nothing compared to the pain he'd gone through when sparring against Lu. Jay, seeing what he thought to be a massive punch coming his way, immediately braced himself against the oncoming pain, but when nothing happened, he made the mistake of looking at the hulking man at exactly the wrong moment, taking a faceful of dirt, and instinctively closing his eyes, though he resisted the urge to rub them, as that would only ground the dirt in deeper and make his situation worse. Because of this, he wasn't prepared for the sweeping arm that knocked him aside, sending him reeling for a moment before he regained his bearings.

Hearing Hanzo's voice as he spoke to Yuni, hearing the words spoken, woke something inside him, and he acted on pure instinct as he leaped at Hanzo, intending to sweep the man's feet from under him. Before he could connect, however, the fishmonger's voice rang out, and when Jay finally cleared his eyes of the dirt and saw the predicament the Jolteon's trainer was in, he gritted his teeth. Hearing the man's words made him frown; there was no way he could just leave the two women in the hands of these thugs, but at the same time, there wasn't much he could do to rectify the situation. "Bluefur, back off for now," he said, relaxing his stance. "We can't do anything more here." The jab at his parents irritated him, though he didn't show it. That being said, the instant he heard the familiar sound of a Pokeball opening, he immediately scrambled away from where Rala appeared, having seen the Moonblast a split second after she appeared. He could only hope he could get out of the way of the attack before he was hit by it, himself.

she didn't know the others senses were sharp and stiffened immediately upon being called out. Takes a deep breath in, lets it out, and carefully, protectively holds Zac while stepping into the office. Her tunic is torn at the edges, leggings at least intact beneath, but her obvious wings and attachment points in addition to her ears...shes a pinkish Emolga, the hue of her grandmother fading out with every generation, the brightness of the hue dying like the world around them. "S-sir?" She says, having not been expected to get caught.

Eri closes the door behind her, then turns slowly. She doesn't appear to be any older than fifteen, but Emolga always had baby faces, and she was one of them for sure. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but Core was thirsty and I had to provide my care..." She trails slowly off, noting the concern in his eyes and adjusts her hold, continuing that protective grip of the blob within.

"I have noticed an abnormality in inventory as I am in charge of this lab, well for this week. I have noticed you being protective of your Pokémon and taking rations from the lab to what I can feel to be maybe a member of the family or a relative in need. I understand wanting to take care of a relative. My late brother Bill, named Deo by his friends, Had a disease that resulted in him dying." a pause came from Gregory as he wipes a tear from his eye. He then proceeds to say "I want to help, there is a way to cure this, how we do not know. I have been thinking of hiring an assistant for my lab, and I know of no one qualified to do the position"

Being swept off her feet in instant, the girl would find that she'd have no chance to try and get up afterward either, what with the foot planted on her chest. Let alone the knife, gritting her teeth in a rare show of emotion (barring panic) at the initial drop of blood and giving a slightly pained grunt once it was twisted. The slight cut still wasn't exactly pleasant.

Her Jolteon would start to take advantage of their newfound leverage by trying to break free, but the sudden remark of "stop" made them give up pretty fast. That, and Lucario's Extreme Speed hurt after being forcefully made to bodyblock it.

"...don't. Just give him want he wants. It's not worth it," she'd speak up, directed at Jolteon and Jay. The fishmonger- much as she didn't totally want to admit it- was right; whatever heroes existed in the world had long since fallen or otherwise decided it wasn't worth saving.

Eyes struggling to look to the fishmonger given her position, she'd speak up to him next. "If you let the Jolteon go, I'll do whatever you want. They won't do anything else to any of you, will you?"

Despite the glare, Jolteon gave no further signs of resistance. They knew trying to fight back now would most likely see their trainer's throat slit open, to say nothing about anyone else involved.

"Tch..." The man looked at the direction the girl and her Ninetales ran off in, shaking her head. "I really should have shown her. Damned spoiled brat." He looked at the remaining boy before sighing, holding his arm out for the Talonflame to land. "You did well Fawkes. Sorry it didn't result in anything for us," he praised the falcon, stroking it. "Now, shall we go hunting for food?" He got a chirp in reply, to which the man nodded. "Right then. Get a good view then, find us a big rat." With an upward motion of the man's arm, Fawkes would fly back into the sky.

"As for you, well, I'm not interested in a fair fight, and you have a pretty good Pokémon on yourself. I'm willing to agree to leave things be for now if you are." The man would pull his hood back up, once again shrouding his face, though not as much. It seemed like he didn't pull it all the way forwards, at least not yet. Might be waiting to see what Aden replied with.

Fishsticks!! He caught her!

Guilt flooded her features and the Core made a worried chirp, she adjusting her grip to not squish it to death. "I-I'm sorry...hes' not really mine but nobody else seems to care for him...especially with all the hard work he does for the Duchy..." She strokes the head of the Core under the blanket. "And the one who..he stays with...I-I..." A pause. Deep breath before she sparks. "Its all to keep his strength up so he can...help...Duchy."

As he talks, her eyes widen. As he talks, her fur fluffs and the Core peeks out to see whats making his keeper so concerned. "I dont...think the Duchy would allow it. I've been tasked to take care of the Core...nothing more or less...but...to help all...I wish I could, but I don't dare." The tap of her foot makes her cuff jingle. "If you have a berry I could give Zac here...just so he has enough to make the time...I'd appreciate it..."

Nodding at the girl as she moved on to that house with the flowers that he always tried to give a decent berth out of respect, the redhead would turn to look back towards the fight that had caught his interest as it seemed to be dying down. Hmm, looks like now might be a good time to finally meet that hunter. Preferably before he disappeared into the dark again. Hopping off of his rock, he would slowly begin to approach with a curiosity shining in his eye as he fixated on the cloak that the hunter was wearing.

Aden shook his head. He could remember a time when people had their Pokemon battle for fun, or even for prestige. It was one of his father's favorite pastimes. But the Pokemon League left a long time ago, and free healthcare for Pokemon with it. Survival was all that mattered now.

"I don't fight for sport," he said simply. He had planned to leave it at that, but noticed a certain red-haired individual approaching. "You might try him, though," Aden offered. He didn't bother getting to know people unless they forced an introduction on him, so he had no idea whether the approaching male was looking for a fight or not, and didn't care. He'd already walked away by the time the seamster was within talking distance.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 30, 2021 8:29 am
The hunter looked confused when Aden replied, taking a look at his longbow and looking back in the direction his Talonflame took off in. "Sport? Huh. Must have me mistaken for another city slicker. Somehow." He looked down as he pulled the hood up further. "Maybe if Auntie were still alive," he muttered, looking at the newcomer. His eyes narrowed, readying another arrow. He could tell that the focus was on him, and started swimming in mental curses. It had to have been when his cloak was blown back. That staff of his was just too damn flashy when it got seen, but there was no way he could leave it at home. Maybe he should find some place to hide it there...

"What the hell do you want," he'd finally ask, drawing back the string on the bow. It wasn't aimed yet, but the hunter was still suspicious of the man approaching him.

It would take the seamster a moment to realize exactly the threatening gesture being directed his way by the source of his enrapturement, having drawn much closer than he had intended during his stupor. Suddenly jumping and locking eyes with the other man, he would give offer a sheepish smile. "Sorry. Sorry. Just....got drawn in by the stitchwork on your cloak. Its impressive how well-maintained it is and how its kept its color even through our current circumstances. Plus it just works so well with the whole ensemble, especially that centerpiece you keep hiding." He stumbled out, visibly flinching as he realized exactly how much of his train of thought had leaked out. Holding up his empty hand for a moment, he continued, "Sorry. I tend to ramble when I get enthused abut subjects. I am Vega. And you are?"
