Needle: 90/14 or 100/16 for heavy types Special Notes: History of the Fabric: Developed in the Netherland in the Flanders region in the 11th century. Leiden (Netherlands) became a center of development in the 14th century. From there other countries started to develop their own broadcloth in the late 15th century.

What is known that the countries of China, Southeast Asia, and Byzantium all develop early examples of the cloth. Brocade has always been known as a luxary fabric because of it's weave.

Corduroy

It was a rougher material than todays modern version. It wasn't till the 18th that England began to manufactor the what we see as corduroy today. During this time the material became highly popular. Corduroy is derived from the french phrase: Cordon du roi meaning King of Cords.
History of the Fabric: Cotton has been around since Anicent Egypt in which it was wore by the Pharaohs. It was only for the rich throughout history. The process for creating cotton was a long process, but with the invition of Eli Whitney's cotton gin (1793), cotton became more avaliable. Just in time for the regency period. With cotton an easy to go grow cash crop we have a rise of slavery and one of the reasons that slavery did last as long as it did.
-Calico -Gingham -Solids -Batik A type of cotton that has a dyeing technique from Indonesia. It's propular as the the backing of quilts and usually cost a little more than normal cotton.
