Relief. Chihiro felt relief as she sighed softly when she finished banging on the trashcans. Her ears was still ringing as she tried to shake it off. "E-eh?!" Chihiro was surprised at the girl who seems to be half of her age or more. Perhaps more? "Y-You don't know what a dog is?!" She questioned, shocked at this female. Where has she been from? Then she giggled, "He's not a bear! He's a dog!" With a smile, she attempted to lift Botamochi to show him to Hanae, "His name is Botamochi!" But then something got Botamochi's attention.
*Sniff sniff*. Botamochi did all he can as he wiggled out of her grip and ran off just a smidge. "H-Hey!" Chihrio was shocked, she had never seen Botamochi act like this as she ran off with him. Then it was when she also smell the scent as well. "H-huh?" cooed Chihiro. Now she was curious. She saw a pretty blonde-haired boy as she ran to in front of him. "OH! What is it? Is it a girl or boy? Either way, so pretty! Do you guys like rolling in the mud like us?!" Botamochi was right at her side, tail waggling, Arf Arf!
The duo had forgotten about their mission now.

Hanae's eyes narrowed at Shikatsu. Was... was that a joke she didn't get? It had to be. No, wait, she had an impeccable sense of humor.
"Isn't that kind of the poi-- ohh, it's a doggy! I've never seen one like him before!" Her eyes lit up as she looked at the little wiggler. Its happiness was infectious, and she was sad to see someone else catch its attention. She went through a range of emotions as it walked away, then another range of emotions when she realized who had caught Botamochi's attention.
"MINNOW!" she hollered at the young man who had thoroughly trounced her back at the Chuunin Exams. Her chances of finding a better source of information than Minowa were slim to none, so she had to seize this chance. He had to know where Agni had gone, she had decided. Without giving it another moment of thought, she started sprinting toward him, a grimace of pure determination on her face. In her haste, she very nearly ran into Shikatsu, but did an acrobatic tumble to avoid him and then launched herself at her target, arms outstretched and ready to grab if he tried to evade. As soon as her feet left the ground, she had a flashback to the Exams and regretted the decisions that brought her to this point.
Shikatsu was listening to the girls explanation as to what all the noise making was for when she suddenly got distracted by the dog and then again by a passing stranger. 'Seriously, are all of the younger people now a days this scatter brained?' He thought to himself as he watched her carefully, his eyes focused on the girl as well as her intended target, readying himself to act at a moments notice should he need to intervene.

Itoko's pointed ears twitched and flattened, alerting Minowa before the voice, loud and alarmed, sounded along with the pounding paws of Botamochi racing up to them. Itoko, again, reacted first; spinning around and facing down the over-eager puppy with a loud hiss and cowl of warning, sounding like an angered cat and lifting his hackles to match. Even when the Inuzuka and puppy had stopped and showed that they weren't going to get any closer, the Binturong kept his teeth bared, long, prehensile tail poised in a way that showed him ready to lunge. Minowa watched, face apathetic, but turned his body to fully face the approaching duo, and made a calm hand motion at his side, indicating what Itoko already felt and reinforcing the fact of the situation; they showed no ill intent, so the Mist-nin and Binturong would remain passive.
Bright blue eyes glanced down at Itoko and Botamochi, making sure neither showed any signs of escalating - be it in joy or wariness - before locking on the equally bright girl standing before him. Despite the near hostile greeting, the girl didn't appear to be overly affected, even going so far as to eagerly ask for information regarding Itoko. Minowa blinked, thrown off by the 'mud-rolling' question. Just as he was about to answer the Konoha-nin's questions, pale-pink lips slightly parted, another shout filled the air. The voice took him back to the UHV attack just recently gone, putting Minowa literally onto the back-foot, shoulders tensing. He had not expected people to react to his presence so energetically, much less recognise him with such vigor. As such, with Chihiro's approach, Minowa had not looked over to see if there was anyone else following her. And now a familiar brown blur was racing at him.
"Katou Hanae." He says, low voice even more hushed. Was she looking for a rematch? Her face showed nothing but determination, though she didn't have her puppet out to attack him like previously. Still. She had verbally threatened to do numerous actions of harm to him the last time she looked at him like that. Most of his Suiton techniques wouldn't be accessible in the middle of the village without risking pulling out some pipes, and his Doton techniques could damage the roads. Same with Mokuton. Evasion; risk either himself or Hanae smacking into a bystander. No weapons were drawn so Minowa wouldn't risk escalating the situation by bringing out his own. Minowa takes another back step, lifting both hands up from his sides, one once again sending a signal to Itoko, this time to back away, and makes a few handsigns.
The duel nature of his suiton and doton chakra roiled down through his arms and out into his palms, where three wooden sprouts burst forth in circular shapes, forming a small blockade for Hanae to grapple with instead. When she lands against him, Minowa detaches the shield from his hand, using only the pressure of her leaning against him to hold it up against his palm. The force of her impact against his small frame caused a shift in his stance, body not very well trained in absorbing such head-on impact but more instinctual in dodging and running instead. The movement made his gold hair shift gently in response, and blue eyes narrow slightly in concentration.
"Hanae-san." Minowa greets, his usually calm voice showing strain this time. He tried to gauge if she was going to keep fighting him, though her face seemed to show some regret to her decision now he was able to see it up-close, with her finely speckled cheeks and Cocoa bean-coloured eyes. Minowa blinks and carefully turns his head, showing his next words were for someone else.
"He's a Bearcat." The Genin finally responded to Chihiro, answering two questions with one answer. His voice had managed to recuperate some of its tranquillity now it was becoming more and more certain that Hanae wasn't intending on killing him. "Colloquial for Binturong. He's arboreal. Has thick fur. So mud gets in the way and can cause issues for Itoko's health." Bright blue eyes looked up to see a grown man as well, who seemed to be part of whatever gathering had launched itself - quite literally - onto Minowa and his Bearcat companion. Finally, after glancing between all three humans and the two animals currently surrounding him, Minowa deemed it safe enough to bow his head (slightly) and introduce himself (properly).
"Minowa Jaeger, Genin of the Mist. The Binturong is Itoko, my companion." He was only physically eleven years old, but he spoke and moved with a timid-like nature as though weary of an attack at any time. Even Itoko remained on guard and kept close to the pale boy's legs. Since entering the Academy that defensive nature in both of them had only expanded as people either began sucking up to Senju clan member or looked down on him for being a freak of nature, a prodigy, the son of two Mizukages, or some other notion he disliked having to deal with being thrown into his face. Being in another village, however, meant even fewer people than the civilians in Mist would know of him, especially as his last name did not match up with either his Dad (Yondaime Syper Senju) or his Pa (Godaime, and current Mizukage, Inka Hizara).

Happy green canines hues were watching the boy in front of him. He was a bit taller but not by much. Could they be the same age?! Maybe this could be her first friend! Although it seemed that his friend didn't like them, hissing and showing all of its teeth. This only caused Botamochi to growl right back, his body in front of Chihiro as he was now worried about his owner. Maybe this wasn't a nice friend! At least the boy wasn't so mean to them, so far. Though Chihiro herself was ready. If that stupid animal wanna be mean, she would tackle it before it launches itself on Botamochi! Her hands were clenched into fists. Ready!
Though, she was not ready for what was about to happen. They both heard a shout. "H-Huh?" Botamochi quickly jumped in front of his owner as Chihiro half-turned to see where the sound was coming from and her eyes widen as she sees the stupid loud girl hurling towards the boy she was trying to be friends with! Why was everyone so mean and trying to take people who she wanted to be friends with?! Chihiro was ready, she crouched slightly, her knees were bent as her canines were revealing itself. Botmaochi got the hint and growled... well attempted to growl. It seems that he hasn't had the ferocious growl down yet. Anyone who was listening thinks he was being cute but Chihiro knows by the tone and the rumbles that he was on par with her! Good!
However, something else had happened. It seemed that the boy she tried to talk to simply did some Jutsu that she doesn't understand quite yet and let the rude girl tackle him. Chihiro blinked as it seemed he casually continued to talk as if nothing had happened. "E-Eh?!" She as confused as she stood up straight and her nails had retracted to shorter. "A bearcat?" Chihiro was now distracted to almost forgot the events that had occurred but the envy green was swirling in her. "Aw. That's a bummer. Mud rolling is fun!" Chihiro knows there's some animals that needs dust to clean themselves and there are even animals that it's dangerous to get too wet due to mold build-up from what she learned from her parents. "Of the Mist?" She questioned as Botamochi whined and tilt his head. Chihiro, being young hasn't quite grasped what happened to Kirigakure and Kumogakure. All she remembered were her parents talking and discussing if they should go to either of one of the villages and helped out but they stayed because they had a child and some of the shinobi should stay in case something was to happen in Konohagakure as well.
Still feeling the anger left over, she gave the brown-haired girl a massive stink face, "You're really rude you know?" She crossed her arms, "Arf!" It seemed that Botamochi agreed with Chihiro.

"Oof!" Hanae wheezed out as her tackle connected with a much harder object than she'd been anticipating. Minnow was a lot firmer than she'd guessed-- wait, no, this was wood.
As she picked herself up, bones still reverberating from the shock of the impact, she tried to wrestle her thoughts back into order. It was like herding cats, but eventually she managed to get some semblance of a coherent sentence in order and look up at Minnow's face. His stupid, perfect face. Right into his eyes as blue as the sky and just as deep. Hanae suddenly felt very self-conscious about the fact that she was basically hugging this dreamboat of a boy... then doubled down. She wrapped her arms around him as much as she could, pulled herself closer, and looked straight into his eyes.
"Minnow," she spoke at a normal volume, her voice slightly husky as she still hadn't totally recovered. "Do you... know where Agni is?"
Her ears pricked at Chihiro's comment, but she couldn't let this lead go. No, she needed to serve as a positive example for the younger generation! She couldn't give up now! Not for all the mud-rolling in the world! She had this pretty boy-- er, promising lead in her arms and she wasn't about to give up! Right now, handling his wood was more important!
Between the dog, the bear cat, 2 annoying young girls, and now this boy, Shikatsu had gotten annoyed and it gave him a headache to boot. 'Why is it always my luck that when i'm tasked to do something, i get stuck in situations like this?' He thought to himself as he continued to watch the situation unfold. The events went through his mind as a basic play by play. It went by pretty quickly all things considered. The boy showed up. The loud girl seemed to know him and tried to tackle hug him. The young girl and her pup asked a lot of questions which got answered fairly quick. The boy waved some hand signs and started to use a juts-WHAT?!? What was this boy trying to do, attack the girl? Acting quickly Shikatsu had cast his shadow to try and stop the jutsu user from doing, well, whatever it was he was trying to do. Right before his shadow got to him however he saw what was going on and that he was just "softening the blow" of the impending hug. With this knowledge his shadow slowly pulled back to him before returning to normal. They would have all seen this happen as a moving shadow is hard to miss, and Shikatsu waited to see what became of that.
After this, he noticed that Chihiro was upset and had crossed her arms with frustration. Being the type of person he was, he always tried to calm people when he could and this situation was no different. He walked up behind Chihiro and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It'll be ok. I think we just need to start over with them." He said this with a smile on his face, very sincere and easy going. Afterwards he turned towards the other two and cleared his throat. " Excuse me, but it seems things escalated quite quickly here. Why don't we try this again? You two seem to already know eachother, and you seem to be looking for someone, is that accurate? May I be of any assistance?" He asked, not really one to offer help needlessly but this situation just kept getting more out of hand as it went on and he had to stop it from going any further.

Jutsu used: Kagemane no Jutsu [ Shadow Imitation Technique ] Rank: C :: Spiritual Description: The Shadow Imitation Technique allows the user to extend their shadow on any surface (even water) and as far as they want as long as there is a sufficient area. Once it comes into contact with a target's shadow, the two merge and the target is forced to imitate the user's movements. If the target is out of range, the user can produce a better light source to increase their shadow's size or rely on preexisting shadows for their shadow to freely travel through. It's also possible to split one's shadow, either to trap more opponents at once, or to create a distraction. Insufficient lighting will make the technique less effective. Easily broken if used on the same opponent more than two [2] times in a fight, requiring only a C-rank amount of chakra to break free. For the first two times, it requires an A-rank to break out from, which can only happen after the first complete post of being trapped.
Itoko was overwhelmed; a dog, two young, loud girls, and a tall man with a shadow that should not move like that! Itoko frets, back and forth by Minowa's side, his long, prehensile tail twitching in agitation, trying to focus on the most dangerous target but not knowing which or what was going on. He makes a low noise, a mroawl of distress and discontent aimed up at the eleven year old Kiri-nin, wanting to get up and out to safety with his trusted human companion. But Minowa had told him to wait, to stay to the side, despite being so throughly crowded in. Itoko didn't want to go against Minowa's orders, and nor did he want to move from being in between the blond boy and the dog, but the urge to climb up onto Minowa's shoulders and push away the woman whom they had fought against before. So he stutted in hesitation, tittering a tone, wanting more direction, something to do that he knows wont cause harm to Minowa.
The Kiri-nin, meanwhile, was feeling similar distress now that thin arms had wrapped themselves around him. The preperation for the impact, and the impact itself, meant that his feet stayed back, leaning slightly forward so only their upper bodies risked contact - thankfully with the wooden shield in the way so Minowa's hands aren't touching places that don't already belong to him. Had he made an error in assuming Hanae's intentions - he had not at all expected this development and his big, blue eyes easily revealed that sudden rise of suspicion and distrust. He flinches at the nickname, eyes narrowing and head pulled back slightly.
"Do you... know where Agni is?"
Pale lips thinned out, pressed tight as his small, button-nose wrinkled up.
"Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you." He grumbles, a look of betrayal filling his features. "Let go." Minowa's voice is low, tight, and he starts exerting pressure against the wooden shield, showing his want to get away from Hanae but doing it gently enough to not straight-up throw the girl off. "Itoko." He speaks softly, calling the bearcat up with a c**k of his head, gold hair shifting with the movement. The Binturong eagerly left its position on the ground and climbed up the eleven-year old as easily as if he was walking on normal ground. Quickly and smoothly Itoko had climbed up pale legs, its finger-like appendages gently finding purchase in the high quality material of Minowa's white and blue patterned shorts and pulling himself up and onto the Genin's back, long tail resting around the boy's waist as Itoko perched itself over Minowa's shoulder, staring down at Hanae intently, rumbling an upset noise.
Big blue eyes glanced up at the only adult that seemed to be involving their self in this situation. When Minowa had summoned up the shield earlier, the red-haired man had also strun together handsigns, sending forward his own shadow that inspired an adrenalin kick of 'fight or flight,' but he was already committed to not letting others get dragged in - and worse case Minowa's own shadow would intervene. Chihiro's reactions to him were a bit more positively received, however. She's young, clearly, and Minowa could not feel any overt deceit coming from her. Her visible displeasure at Hanae's interjection of her conversation also helped his reception of her.
"Kirigakure." He began explaining to Chihiro, mindful of Botamochi's body language. "I'm a Genin of the Village Hidden in the Mist." He explained before Shika spoke up, drawing his attention to the way a hand was placed on Chihiro's shoulder. So the pair knew each other but not Hanae. Minowa wasn't against Hanae asking for information from another source - it wasn't the Kiri-nin's business what other people do, after all. "We fought in the Chuunin exams. Nothing more between us." He states coldly. "I did not hear your names." He pointed out, meaning both Chihiro and Shikatsu were both nameless in the Kiri-nin's eyes. Same with the large ball of fluff by the 6-year-old's side.
Itoko's whole body covered Minowa's back, tail curled around a thin waist. Gold eyes occaisonally flickering down to the puppy but mostly staring at Hanae, its forelegs pawing at the shoulder it was peering over, as though ready to leap forward.

Did... did that girl ignored her?! Chihrio does not take kindly to people ignoring her! "Hey!" Chihiro shouted at her, rather aggressively as her canines were showing. Botamochi picked up on the aggression as he growled at the girl. This girl had no manners! Chihiro wanted to teach her a lesson! Or two. Maybe a bite. Or three. A hand landed on her shoulder but that was not going to stop this girl. "Git off." She shrugged her shoulder away from the Nara as he mentioned that they should just start over as she has a nasty scowling expression on her face, "She should start over, not us. We were nice and kind. Talking! Like adults! But then she decided to be a butthead." Chihiro mumbled. Grr grr, Arf! It seemed that Botamochi agreed with Chihiro.
Itoko doesn't seem to be happy either. If Chihiro learned anything about being a tamer, it was that usually pets feel the same emotions as the owner. For some reason, that this girl cannot understand, she was satisfied that it wasn't just her and Botamochi being annoyed with this girl's advances and rudeness. Then Minowa started to talk to her. Good! They don't need to be hanging out with rude people and adults that don't understand! Kirigakure. "Sounds familiar..." Chihiro mumbled to herself softly as she was trying to think back on her geography lessons. Botamochi tail was wagging towards Minowa as he whined softly. Stood on his hind legs he propped himself up slightly and failed his front fat fluffy paws as if saying he wanted to play with Itoko. But he understood if Itoko wishes to stay where it was, to protect it's owner better.
"GAH! I'm so sorry!" Chihiro was horrified. Usually she was pretty good with introduction but the situation as caused her to lose her head for a moment there. "I"m Chihiro! And that's Botamochi!"Arf Arf! He greeted towards them, tail wagging but his eyes were focused on the girl, to make sure she doesn't do anything else.

This was not the response Hanae had been expecting. She'd been so excited to see a familiar face, but now that face was distancing itself from her, and the little girl and her dog were getting mad too! Was she in the wrong here? She had to be, right? Wait, but the formerly grumpy dude with the weird moving shadow was being friendly! What did that mean?! The answer was simple: it was the angry people who were in the wrong. She may have been a tiny, tiny bit overzealous in her approach, but she was still fundamentally doing the right thing.
She let go of Minowa and took a couple steps back, hands raised.
"Yep, we were just opponents in the Chuunin Exams. Sure, that thing turned out super scary and we were in the same group fleeing, but yeah, just opponents. That's all." Hanae sighed. Even if she was definitely in the right here, her parents had always taught her to apologize when she messed up. This situation didn't apply, but maybe it would help here, she concluded. "I'm s... s... super in need of help, Mr. Amazing Shadow Dude!" She pivoted on one foot to fully face Shikatsu, hands on her hips. The words had just been too hard to say. "See, when we left the Exams, one of the people we were with was a guy named Agni. Super handsome, soft-looking hair, fox mask, can't miss him. Well, see, I haven't seen him since we left, but I was pretty sure he was coming back here. Minnow was with us, so I got a teensy, weensy bit excited when he showed up outta nowhere. You seen my dear Agni? Or maybe has your shadow seen him? How does that work, anyway? Does it even have eyes?"
With everything finally starting to calm down, Shikatsu let out a small sigh of relief. Kids were such a handful and he didn't really like having to deal with other peoples issues if they didn't involve him. However, this rowdy bunch were interesting to say the least. He looked over to the boy and put on a smile. "My name is Shikatsu, I am a Jounin from the leaf. I'ts a pleasure to meet you." He said as he gave his introduction while still inspecting the child and his cat. It was a strange creature, unlike any cat he had seen before.
Then the loud girl, uh, Hanae, had spoken up to him and got his attention. He chuckled at her rapid-fire questions about his shadow and let her finish before giving any answers. "Well, I do not believe I've seen him, but then again I do not know what he looks like to be certain. My shadow, it hasn't seen him either, and no, it doesn't have eyes. It doesn't need them to see it's target." He added the last part just to see what kind of reaction he would get out of the young girl.
Looking back down to Chihiro and seeing as she seemed to be in a little better of a mood, decided to speak to the three of them. "So, am I to assume we are done with the arguing here?" He asked them while trying his best not to sound patronizing, but speaking to them more as equals.

As Hanae stepped back, pale fingers caught the edge of the wooden shield, preventing it from falling to the ground with a clatter. With a physical barrier in hand, the Kiri-nin felt a little more at ease, appreciating the protection the inanimate object gave him at the front while Itoko's solid, warm weight on his back gave him comfort. Both Tamer and animal, were finally starting to relax out of their fight or flight mentality when Chihiro suddenly shouted. Itoko and Minowa flinched simultaneously at the loud sound; their eyes widened slightly, pupils contracting. Both of their gazes landed on Chihiro instinctively while Minowa lifted the shield a fraction, and Itoko's fingers tightened their grip as he showed a mouth full of sharp teeth. Realising the attention was directed at either of them, Minowa took a step back, not at all wanting to be part of the confrontation, much less be around such volatile emotions.
So he stayed quiet, wanting to find a way out of this conversation without offending anyone. And he still couldn't fathom how Hanae could be so excited so as to want to jump on him which only further confirmed that socialising with everyday people wasn't something he could fully comprehend.
"Pleased to meet you, Shikatsu-san. Chihiro-san." Minowa gave a small bow of his head to the Jounin and Inuzuka respectively. "Botamochi-san." He greeted the pup in the same manner, viewing animal companions as equal to any human. How could he not when Itoko is the reason why he was still alive today. Itoko regarded the dog with suspicion, but a far calmer body language than when they first met. Having a human to translate emotions and situations helping them along. "Kirigakure is known for many things. I could not say how you've heard of it, but it is one village of the five great Shinobi countries." He explained, voice even and patient. And then bright blue eyes swung up to the Jounin.
"Such as Konohagakure," He begins, before addressing the six-year-old properly again. "It is known as the Shinobi village of the Land of Fire, and many highly skilled clans have originated here, such as the Nara clan." He pointedly brought this up, not hesitating to stare up at the Jounin. "You are a member, Shikatsu-san. The clan that controls shadows, or known as Yin Release techniques." Minowa subconsciously glanced to Hanae and Chihiro, then looked back up to Shikatsu. "Your shadow is not sentient, but acts as an extension of yourself. I have heard the Nara clan is also heavily invested in medicinal research." Itoko was now also staring, unblinking, up at Shikatsu. "My Dad was of Konoha, so I have studied the region's history." Again he glances at Chihiro, but this time to Botamochi as well, not Hanae. Itoko pulled more of itself over Minowa's shoulder, its head properly covering up the centre of the blond's chest.
Minowa found it curious that neither Shikatsu nor Chihiro introduced their last names. Maybe, for the Jounin, it was to hide his clan affiliation, something Minowa could understand having introduced himself as a Jaeger after having performed a wood release technique that is associated with the Senju bloodline - another prominent clan that originated within Konohagakure. But the older male had used a technique and spoke of his shadow as though it was special, so the Kiri-nin felt no remorse in assuming the Jounin's affiliation. Chihiro, however, was different. Perhaps due to her young age was the more likely reason that she went with such a familiar introduction.
"If there is nothing else, then I will be on my way." The eleven-year-old spoke, sounding far older than he looked. "Again, it was a pleasure to meet you," Minowa bows to the two Leaf-nin before finally turning back to Hanae. "Good to see you are well, Hanae-san." He says, then motions for Itoko to climb down, not having enough muscle-mass to comfortably walk much of a distance with the Binturong weighing him down. Agile and smooth, Itoko climbed down the blond's front, its dark grey and brown fur a stark contrast to the crisp white and sunny-sky-blue colours of his clothing - which was designed with a heavy climbing mammal in mind.

Chihiro still had her arms across her chest in a rather stubborn way as the brown-haired girl rose her hands and took few steps back. Chuunin exams? Oh, that's cool! Chihiro hopes to go to one someday. Heck, she just wanted to get promoted someday! Pfft. Super scary. "Nothing would scare me..." Chihiro mumbled under her breath, hard for others to hear but Botamochi and Itoko would've picked up on it and possibly Minowa, depending on how attuned he was to his friend. As the meanie girl turned her attention to Shikatsu, perfect! She could become friends with Minowa now!
Hurray! Chihiro smiled as her arms uncrossed and rested at her sides while he spoke to them. He spoke to them so prim and proper! How old was he really? He doesn't seem that much older but he sure acts like it! How boring! Maybe he's been around with too many adults!? Alright! Chihiro definitely needs to be friends with him so he can be a kid! Just like her! However, as this child was brainstorming different ideas that they could do together, Minowa was going to take his leave. "H-huh!?" She exclaimed, shocked, surprised, and disappointed. Botamochi whined softly as he lifts his fluffy paw as in an attempt to wave. "Oh. Okay." Even the disappointment can be heard in her voice. "It's nice to meetcha, Minowa-chan and Itoko-chan, hopefully, if we meet again, we can climb some trees! With no chakra! It'll be fun, I promise!" As he left, she turned to face Shikatsu.
Oh yea! They had a mission to do! They should get back at it. "Oh! We should do our mission! I forgot haha!" Chihiro giggled as she then looked at the teenager and her anger swelled back up in no time at all. She stuck her tongue out at her as she crossed her arms once again. The little girl was waiting for Shikatsu to finish talking to the rudie and they can go back to their mission.

Wait, this guy was a jounin?! Who the heck had she been hanging around with for the last few minutes?! Hanae eyed Shikatsu, suddenly uncertain if she should even be talking to him. Her teacher had told her jounin were kind of a big deal, so maybe this guy was one of the people who'd chased Agni into hiding. He didn't seem like the sort of person to be in on a conspiracy like that, but he was also a ninja, and ninja were supposed to be good at sneaking about and lying. And his shadow had no eyes but could see! What the heck was with that?!
She ran her hands through her hair, narrowed her eyes, and leaned slightly closer to Shikatsu.
"I dunno what's going on with you or your shadow, sir, but I'll make you the best grilled fish of your life if you bring back my Agni. Crispy outside, juicy inside, some sauce, and some bread crumbs for crackly bits. Remember: soft hair, fox mask, handsome. No questions asked; bring Ags and you get the fish."
With a loud sniffle, she leaned away again, looked about in a manner she thought might be totally inconspicuous, then tuned back into the rest of the conversation just in time to hear Chihiro say her goodbyes. The girl was just too dang cute. Hanae just wanted to ruffle her hair and give the dog a bone.
"Ooh, tree-climbing is fun. Y'all got a lot of good ones around here, too. Good one, Chii-chan!" she commended the girl, offering a thumbs-up and a wide grin. Then a thought struck her and she started to skip off after Minowa. "Hey, Minnow, I know we're apparently not friends and all that, but there's an awesome ramen place nearby! Wanna hit it up?" An image flashed across her mind of Agni being heartbroken on seeing her getting a meal with another guy alone, so she spun around and added: "We could all go! Want to meet up at the ramen place after your mission, Shikki, Chii, Botabota? Bet I can eat more than you!" She punctuated her taunt with a smug grin and a waggle of her finger at Shikatsu, Chihiro, and Botamochi, whose names she had decided to coerce into nicknames.
After watching all of them interact, Shikatsu saw how badly Chi and Hanae wanted to hang out. Even tho they had a mission to do, this seemed a better fit for his young partner at the moment. Growing up with only a few friends, Shikatsu knew what it was like and how hard it was to make those friends. "Actually, I think now would be an ok time for that." He said as he looked between the 3 kids. He waved a single hand sign and instantly there was another Shikatsu standing next to him. The clone waved, if you'd actually call it that as he really just stuck his hand up then back down, to the original. With a nod of his head as a sign of understanding he took of in the direction of their destination. "There, now we can go with them Chihiro." He said this with a smile aimed at the girl and her dog.
