A clone of Bast's walked into the hospital, followed by a family of four. She checked them in and waited until the doctors came to look at the children before excusing herself, heading back out into the Village. Not too long thereafter, she would return with some two dozen survivors, most of whom were completely uninjured. After checking them in with a nurse, the clone handed over a note:

"28 survivors found so far. 26 corpses need identification in the Residential District."

It was probably time for Doc to show his face at the Kage's office. He didn't want to have to walk all the way there, so he decided to just make a projection of himself. With it, he would be able to hear and speak to everyone in the office.

Doc would sit down in a comfy place so he wouldn't be uncomfortable for how ever long he was going to have to be there. He gathered his chakra and concentrated on a corner of the room. Doc closed his eyes and he started seeing the office and everything it.

Doc returned to his normal self once here released his technique. It was now time for Doc to head out and see what he can do to train. He knew that the academy was a bit of a ruin at the moment, but that's where apparently a number of people were heading. He at least needed to be available for those that needed medical training as he hasn't seen James in a really long time around the village. Doc stood up and brushed himself of a bit. It was time for him go. He would walk out the hole that Manny had created earlier and headed off too the academy.

Bast stormed into the hospital and went straight up to the front desk. She hadn't told anyone yet what had happened, but would make full use of the hospital to spread the information through relevant channels. She told the person at the desk she had just been exposed to a large amount of radiation and needed treatment, and was quickly whisked away to be examined and treated.

During the treatment, she kept speaking to the doctors, telling them that the mine in the Red Sands had a vein or uranium running through it, and that some sort of alert should be put out until safety measures could be put into place. The last thing they needed was someone stumbling in and getting completely irradiated.

After several hours of treatments to make sure she wasn't going to suffer adversely from exposure to the uranium, Bast awoke in a hospital bed. Not feeling too worse for wear, she sat up and looked around, then flagged down her doctor.

"Can I go if I stay in the Village, or am I confined to this building for a while?" she asked frankly. "I'd like to at least get a solid workout in, if that's not a problem."

The doctor explained that while they were able to treat the vast majority of the radiation sickness since it was still in its early stages when she showed up, she was likely to suffer some adverse effects if she strained herself too hard. She was free to go, but they gave her a bottle of pills to take while she recovered, and instructed her to remain well fed and hydrated. Taking the pills in her hand, she changed into her clothes and checked out of the hospital, heading toward the dojo. As she walked, she penned a note to Masahiro detailing the discovery of the uranium vein, then reverse-summoned it to him.

Within the depths of the hospital a beast stirred, a beast which had been scarcely seen for months, a beast whose very existence would send shivers down the spines of babes and scare rodents senseless. It stretched its muscles, preparing to descend on the Village like a plague, a black cloud of death carried forth on the dying breaths of its enemies. From this day onward, the shadows in the Village Hidden in the Sand would be just a bit deeper, the sun just a little bit more unforgiving, and the wind just a bit harsher.

The door to its chamber swung open and its footsteps echoed down the hallway, drawing looks its way. Somewhere outside, a bird would spontaneously seize up and fall out of the sky. The beast walked with purpose toward the lobby, glanced at the sick and injured in the room, then turned its attention toward the front desk. Screams would pierce through the relative calm outside, then stop abruptly. A few minutes later, the beast would step forth into the sunlight, its ivory skin not unlike the bleached white bones of its enemies in color. It stalked off toward the Kazekage's Office with a purpose.

Back inside the hospital, the receptionist whose screams had recently resounded throughout the building would find himself wondering why anyone would ever use a Jutsu to speed up the completion of paperwork, least of all in such a horrifying manner.

Her goal was to arrive to the hospital as soon as she could without too much unnecessary running. It wasn't like the wound on her arm was bleeding to the point of risking a mini freak-out moment, right?
Sadayo's hand was busy pressing onto her wrapped wound. Compression reduced blood-flow, thus, a hope for less to clean up. Entering the building was the easy part: she would go through its doors, take a deep breath, and approach the reception desk with her request. "Afternoon, I have a hopefully not-so-terrible cut here on my arm. Training mishap."

As the receptionist behind the desk hears of her need and flags down a passing psycian, the puppeteer wondered how she would've ever began to explain the truth about a box breaking through buildings, warriors made of stone with swords and her resulting cut. The box story would be far better tale to tell, in place of new story she was busy building in her head while being led away to an examination room.
The physician who was tending to her was actually more like a battle-ready genin with a cute set of medic's badges: one around an arm and the other hanging as a tag from their shirt collar. Chunin, actually, a youthful battle-ready chunin who told Sadayo to sit in a chair within a small room housing a neat arrangement of supplies o' plenty sitting along the back of a counter with a deep sink, and tall cabinet.
She would remove the net-mesh top to reveal her sleeveless, purple dress and the unwrapped cut. Sadayo held her blood soaked glove as the young physician spoke warmly in regards to their own mistakes during training She chose to not directly watch the chunin work. She could feel the blood being cleaned away, application of a stinging antiseptic, and then the glow of a green light came from the physician's hand. That. The glow caught her attention.

It didn't take long. A lot less time than she anticipated was spent being patched up. The chunin's medical ninjutsu reduced the cut to only a line on her upper arm that would need time to heal and disappear. All the while, young chunin seems only happy to be of help. "That was really something. I've never seen chakra do that in person."
"The beauty of it is that you could learn to do it too! It's a lot of work but worth it if you're interested in the field!"

"Probably," she replies as she shook her head slowly, "but I think my interests are more down-to-earth, ya' know?"
"Down to earth? Oh, would you mean making medicines?"
"Yeah. Plants and stuff." She said, avoiding to admit the medicines she was after learning where the harmful type of medicines. Poisons. For every light there is a dark.

"Hmm," the chunin pauses in thought, before starting the process of tidying up and removing bloodied napkins. "They're looking for an extra hand in the greenhouse up-stairs right now. If you want anything in this world, you gotta' work for it. Plants for medicines and poisons too. Why don't you head up there and tell the staff you're looking to help."
Sadayo wouldn't answer on the matter. She only would thank the chunin for the tip and their efforts to tend to her arm.
"No problem. Good luck out there."

Botany:

After rinsing her blood-bathed black glove a few times, Sadayo would work it back on her fingers. Now, having only time on her hands, Sadayo choose to answer the request for an extra pair of hands in the greenhouse on the hospital roof. The journey to the roof was taken via a flight of stairs. She didn't want to impede upon hallway traffic and fiddle with the mechanized lift system. [1]

The trek up was interesting, however. Sadayo made the mistake and underestimated the number of stairs she would have to take. Not that the flights of stairs really posed themselves as a challenge to her, as she was fully able and fit enough to comfortably scale from floor to floor. Her choice of solely taking the staircases and her determination to follow through did become a bother.[2]

But the last thing she wanted was to greet those working the greenhouse with ruffled feathers and a sour attitude aimed at her own fault. When she reached the roof, the puppeteer had to swallow her seething regret and put forth a friendly demeanor. The genin would be polite upon greeting the medics, who were more like botanists than anything, that would in turn would thank her for coming, present her a list of instructions, and impart a few pieces of knowledge about what she'll be dealing with. [3] [Tending the land 1/3]

With a nod, backed by some degree of understanding, Sadayo would go to work on her listed assignments. Thus the return of the seething frustration she only managed to shove aside moments ago. Work would resolve her anger. A solid distraction always dissolves anger. The desert was notorious for having its own variety of plants which, in some cases, were scarce and required a lot of work to gain. The hospital's greenhouse was the place to start. The much needed supplies would be available to borrow on a small table. The puppeteer would at last begin work in enclosed garden.

Charged with the task preparing the ground for the transfer of new plants, Sadayo collects a hand-cultivator to break a bed of soil indicated by a series of small labeled signs. So the seething shinobi would put on a borrowed pair of gloves, to fit over her typical thin gloves, and went to work on her knees. The motion of her handiwork started as a firm hammering to break a section of dirt. Then the motions evolved: stab,stir, raise, repeat to loosen the hardened top layer of sandy soil. [1/2]

Sadayo followed the repetitive motion to scale the designated that scales as an even two feet by two feet. Her arm was little tired by now but the slight ache of weariness wasn't nothing she couldn't handle. She set the cultivator tool aside and grabbed a trowel and put her attention into sifting her fingers through the raised dirt to search and remove: rocks, old roots, items that would otherwise clutter to make room for new plants. The girl was essentially crouched over the plot of earth, plucking finger-fulls of small rocks unearthed from her stir into the trowel held in her other hand. [2/2] {Labor I Complete} [Tending the land 2/3]

The small rocks were moved from one sandy spot to a metal pail. The fate of these tiny stones was unknown to Sadayo and would perhaps in up as some form of decoration she wouldn't have a hand in; she was only asked to remove the stones, after all. The girl stood up-right and moved from the ruffled plot of earth to follow through with the next step: mixing fertilizer. The fertilizer, in question, was plainly a compost mix which instruction required her to spread. She had little knowledge the plant's exact needs, so she felt it wise to simple follow the paper's guidance. [1/3]

The trusty trowel was perfect for spreading compost tirelessly onto the soil. There were several plants ahead of her to be transferred and the leafy compost had to be spread sufficiently to supplement for the lack of nutrients in the sand. A second pail held the amount she should need. There wouldn't be a real need to actually mix the soil and compost together. Watering the area is supposed to handle the process of mixing the two layers. Next, the plants needed her attention. [2/3]

By now, her frustration from the thought of working in the greenhouse was beginning to ware off. This work was important and she would have to start small before moving on. Sadayo set her trowel down and went to grab a tray of plants. Each plant was well past a sprout stage and would be in much more room to grow into happy herbs. The trays were plastic, flimsy, and easy to pop the small soil-bound root systems from their cups. One by one, the girl would remove a plant, drill a suitable hole in the prepared soil, and nest the plant into its new, earthy home. The process of transferring a plant was repeated for seven more times. Her toil in the dirt has set new eight plants into the ground to grow. [3/3] {Labor II, Rank D, Complete}

However, she wasn't done. The transfer of these plants marked one completed job with another to quickly take its place. She set the trowel aside and hopped to the nearest coil of hose. The plants still needed to be watered; as the top layer of compost in a moistened state would seep into the sandy layer and onto the each plant's respected root system. The girl spins on the water-faucet head, guides a few feet of hose to the prepared plot, and began the process of soaking the small plot of land. [1/2]

Some of the water which splashed onto the ground reminded her of the task to follow: Damping down. After soaking key spots around the worked plot of land, Sadayo would haul the hose onto her next task. Some plants prefer a higher point of humidity. She quickly reviewed the order paper to find the next location. The order to dampen a select few plants lead her to a group of larger, lush greens that looked like larger versions of what she had just transferred. [2/2] {Labor I; complete}

Upon closer inspection, Sadayo could see this plot of grown plants was lined with sheet of plastic in certain areas and with large spaces cut out to accommodate the plant. This group of greenery was also in need of humidity; an every day task that today, Sadayo had the pleasure of fulfilling. This part was simple, mostly, and could be accomplished with a simple spray of water over each plant and around on the plastic sheet. The heat within the greenhouse would take care of the rest. [1/3]

She would continue, reading off and on the list of specific plants that needed watering or extra water for an extra ounce of humidity, and follow along the row she'd been working with the running hose. This was the desert and she had no room to be careless with water usage. By now, the need to water was completed and Sadayo hurried to turn off the water hose and rewind it back into a coiled heap. The care in the greenhouse was extensive: most plants were thriving in the ground and many managed well in pots. Even a few large trees were content under roof. [2/3]

The last task didn't involve a tree, thankfully, but rather the leaf-litter that was piling at the base of one of the larger trees. Sadayo replaces her borrowed hand tools with a single, long rake and bag to store leaves. Like the rocks, the fate of the leaves was unknown to her and would likely be recycled into compost after inspection from a more experienced set of eyes. It was just Sadayo's job to collect and contain the leafy mess. The girl dutifully forged small, leafy piles and which she would fluff into each other to make a large leaf pile. [3/3] {Labor II complete; Rank D}

Sadayo set the rake aside to go about shoving the mass of leaves into the bag before having to settle with manually picking handfuls. To work in the greenhouse wasn't a bad gig. This type of work around plants wasn't overly difficult and there was some hope to learning a thing or two about plants and herbs. By now, yes, the girl was pressing handfuls of leaves and dropping them into her bag. [1/2]

A few handfuls came from her collective clutter of leaf litter. On her knees, Sadayo scoured for every last leaf in reach and placed them with the rest of the potential compost. She would survey the area under the tree, to check if she didn't miss more than the few leaves that escaped her, and scurried back to the bag. Finishing up her work, Sadayo would tie off the bag and slip a prepared label around the knot to make note its contents. She knelt to collect the rake, bag, and trotted off to the lot beside the borrowed tools as proof of her efforts. [2/2] {Labor I complete; Rank E} [Tending the Land, Rank C]

The gloves were removed. The fingers and palms were further soiled some but her black, finger-less gloves remained clean. She would dust and shake off the dirt from her jacket sleeves,
her knees, and tap off dirt from her shoes. The earlier feelings of discontent were long gone. [1]

Surely, she thought, the greenhouse staff would be pleased with her contribution. A little effort can go a long way, after all. Sadayo folds and places the borrowed gloves onto a small table beside the tools she used. A thought came: should the day come she receives her own pair of gloves to work with, she would have to address future deposits of dirt that could be tracked into her supply bag. Note to self: get another bag. A bag best for gardening and the spoils she was sure to come across in the future. [2]

All was remained, was to thank the greenhouse staff for the opportunity work. Sadayo would call out to the medic spoken to before she began, thank them, and bow slightly before turning to leave. She would pass through the open door of the greenhouse and continue onto her next objective. Now, her hope was set into being called back for more. [3][Tending the land 3/3; completed]

Damien walked through the doors of the hospital and looked around, he was happy that he was able to get his headband... now it was time that he got some training under his belt. When he was in the Kazekages Office, there were two others that came in after him. He knew that those two guys were going to be his biggest competition. He walked around on the first lever finding signs that led him to the elevators " The Last Floor? " He was interested in what could possibly be up here. As he ascended to the top of the building he thought about the jutsu that he was going to be able to learn. he was excited and ready. The doors opened and he approached the massive learning center.

He looked around and looked at the wall of medical jutsu that he was going to be able to learn. He walked to the wall and looked the wall, he wanted to make sure that he was going to be useful in a squad if he was going to be assigned. He pulled two from the wall and walked into a practice room. Unfurling one of the scrolls, he noticed that it was a Pain Intensefication Jutsu, the diagram was a chart of the nervous system; you needed to know that before being able to apply the chakra necessary to engage the jutsu. He studied the scroll fro sometime before weaving the handsigns, he wanted to make sure that he was going to get them right. After sometime, he felt more comfortable with the signs.

He put the handsigns together in a woven intericzate pattern and touched his fingertips to his arm. There was a small shock and a pain started to pulsate through his arm. He knew that he had the jutsu right.. but maybe doing it to himself wasn't a good idea. He used the release handsign and the pain slowly started to fade away. He was happy with learning his first jutsu... now on to the next.

[[ Itami Gekka E Ranked // Learned ]]

He thought this would be a perfect time to learn the next jutsu, he knew that if he learned this one perfectly that this jutsu would pair pefectly with the one he just learned. He rolled up the Itami Gekka scroll and set it aside for the time being and opened the next. It was the Ketsueki Juutai jutsu, he knew that if he paired it with the Itami that it would give him a certain upper hand. He studied it over, he knew that he would have to try this jutsu on himself; he wanted to make sure that he also could reverse the jutsu himself as well.

He thought about the application of the jutsu and the parings that it might possibly have. He knew that besides his elemental powress, eiseijutsu was going to be his own trump card. He studied the handsigns and decided that it was time to try it himself. He wove the handsigns together and touched his forearm. The spot started to bruise and grow, it was more painful than he assumed. He used the release handsign and touched the area again, the pain slowly subsided. The bruise was going to remain for sometime. But, he considered it a odd battle scar.

Damien rolled up the two scrolls and walked back to the wall, he was happy that he was progressing into a real medical shinobi...though the medical path that he chose made him more offensive; he wanted more then just an ace in his sleeve. He carefully placed the scrolls on the wall and began to examine it. he wanted something that he would be able to pair with his other jutsu... he wanted to be mindful of possibly other medical shinobi. His eyes finally fell onto a pair of jutsu, he was happy that he was learning a higher ranking jutsu now. He unrolled one of the scrolls and looked at its contents. Though he wasn't alone studying, his mind seemed locked into learning the jutsu as efficient as possible. He looked it over carefully, the thought was to make sure that your shocking the muscle into a non-use. He coordinated the handsigns and looked them over.

Weaving the handsigns, the tips of his left fingers lit up. It touched them against the wall and a small spark leaped from his fingers

Damien rolled up the scroll and looked out the window, he had spent most of his time inside and now... he felt an itch to get outside. He laughed to himself as he walked to the wall of jutsu and placed the scroll back. He walked over to the window and looked out onto Sunagakure... there was a place he had never been inside. Damien wrapped everything up and decided to check out the Superdome, maybe there was going to be something there to further hurl him into the shinobi world.

** - 1 post reduction on jobs
The greenhouse staff were welcoming to the puppeteer upon her return. Sadayo had taken the journey up the flight of stairs in the hospital building to return to the roof for more work. The interior of the greenhouse was as green as ever and a considerably humid with the usual will warm temperatures. [tending the land 1/2:: arrival]

To begin the girl would collect a pair of gloves, to borrow, in order to handle plants without concern of getting her own thin gloves overly dirty. Additionally she would remove her coat to keep bright green sleeves out of work. Besides, the humid air would make the coat only a hassle on her body. Sadayo grabbed a watering can and went straight to work with a list provided by the staff. [tending the land 1/2:: arrival]

The watering can she was carrying was empty for the time being. The contents of her to-do list describes a small collection of potted plants which were all happy sprouts by now. The contents of her volunteered work appear to tie closely to earthen vessels: empty or not. So, Sadayo filled the watering can and was quick to begin shelling off water to plants.[1/2]

She would count with each plant: one, two, three, four, five. Or hold her count until the soil was saturated. Enough. With the next plant, the counting process was repeated and went the extra step to check the state of the soil. Are they getting enough water? Sadayo wasn't dealing with any potted cacti, rather a slightly more "needy" leafy plant which required daily watering. [2/2]Labor I : Completed

The usefulness of the watering can became unnecessary with the completion of her first task. Her next chore: to clean clay pots. A little ways away, Sadayo would find a stack of empty pots nesting within one another. A straightforward note was attached to them: "wash before use" could be read, stuck to the side of the top pot. [1/3]

Why? A humid environment, like a well watered greenhouse, is a prime location to grow mold and mildew. Spores that can make their way from the walls of earthen ware pots, the future homes to budding spouts, and may spread like a fungal disease over many other plants if left untended to. A sound method to prevent plants from being covered in mildew and mold is to clean the clay cup a plant may call home. [2/3]

Molds can taint soil, growing containers, and damage plants. It's widely unpleasant for a greenhouse primed with a medicinal purpose. Sadayo went to work by starting with the first pair of pots to clean. Both posts still had dirt stuck to their walls, thus, each would require a thorough brushing before the wash step. [3/3] Labor II : Completed

With a stiff brush, the puppeteer began furiously sweeping through the inner walls of both pots. Dirt, sand, and whatever else is left has its hold swept off during the grind. One after the other, Sadayo manages to "dust" out the pair of pots after setting the containers on their side and pouring all else out. This first pair was ready for the wash, however, she set them aside and grabbed two more containers. . {1/2} Labor I #2

The next pair of containers were dustier than the last with bits of torn greenery and frayed fragments of roots. There was no cutting corners with brushing. Sadayo would have to loosen up as much as possible to make sure that these containers are cleaned. The worry of scuffing her fingers against the clay walls was minimized with the borrowed gloves. It would be a total nuisance to have to pause and wrap up a scrape or whimper over a chipped nail. {2/2} Labor I #2 : Completed

Sadayo finished the second pair and moved onto the third pair. There wasn't much she was asked to do for now. She was grateful the clay containers weren't overly small but large enough that she could place her open hand, comfortably, on the bottom. Moreover, she could hide her forearm within each jar. These weren't small jars which she invested herself in cleaning. {1/3} Labor II #2

Another pair of pots. This would total eight clay pots together which will and have been dusted vigorously prior to cleaning. The puppeteer had immersed herself in brushing that she had angled her head, in such a way, to allow her hair and ponytails to collect toward her face. The warmth and humidity together was making her hair to latch onto her cheeks. In defiance of sticking hair, Sadayo would rub the top of a glove over her face. Consequently, the borrowed gloves were littered by a combination of sand and dark soils and would leave earthy streaks on her face when the right touch was made. {2/3}

Wrapping up the brushing work on the last of the eight pots, Sadayo would set each upside down until she their time came for a real washing. Not being the die-hard greenhouse person, Sadayo wasn't one-hundred percent sure on the how to for cleaning. Her list didn't include any "how to" which strikes her as unusual. To fill in the missing information, Sadayo would locate the nearest greenhouse overseer with inquiry. {3/3} Labor II #2 : Completed

"What's the next step? Everything is brushed out." She said, pointing over to the turned over pots on the floor. A medic, who specialized in herbology, who was working in the greenhouse for the day was the puppeteer's go-to for questions. The medic nodded and led her back to the clay pots. The medic told her to pick a few pots up, as they did the same, and follow them to the next step. As she was told, Sadayo would nest three pots together and wrap her arms tightly around them. {1/2} Labor I #3

The puppeteer and medic would venture to a deep, metal, sink several feet away. There were already a number of containers, cupped plants, and an array of small gardening tools laying around and on the short counter by the sink.The medic sets a small collection of pots onto the floor before moving one into the sink. The demonstration was simple: turn on the warm water facet and fill the sink, then add a liquid soap, and an extra ingredient; vinegar. {2/2} Labor I #3 : Completed

The medic reached into a cabinet below the sink for a large bottle. A full cup of vinegar was poured into the filling sink. As the medic returned the bottle of vinegar to its place below, they spoke: "use a brush," a second, worn brush was pulled from below the sink, "and give each pot a thorough scrub. Afterwards, rinse each pot, and leave them here on this counter here to let them dry. Upside down. " {1/3} Labor II # 3

Simple. Sadayo thanked the medic and with her new set instructions went straight to work ot finish the task. She would remove the borrowed gardening gloves and set them aside. Her own gloves were fine to get wet and would probably be a refreshing change to cool her hands with after she's finsihed. One by one, Sadayo would take hold of a clay pot and bring it to wash. One container was much easier to work with rather than rushing through with pairs. {2/3}

One: scrub, rinse, scrub, rinse, stop. Two: scrub more, rinse again, scrub for good measure, and stop. Three! The process carried on in repeat for all eight clay pots and until Sadayo was certain all had been tended to. Her fingerless gloves were soaked through it all and expected little in the hope of drying out until she would finish. She would allow the sink to begin draining before finally stepping away. {3/3}Labor II # 3 : Completed

A quick review: Sadayo check the list of all she's done. Water sprouts and clean clay pots. She expected more, almost. At least there was the assurance that this greenhouse wasn't going to disappear anytime soon and help was always appreciated to keep its green residents happy. {exit 1/2}

Even after her venture back to the greenhouse, Sadayo still had time on her hands. Before leaving the sink area, the girl would clean her face with fresh water from the facet. Unlike the clay spots she spent a good deal cleaning, she didn't have to scrub away at her face to erase the dirt. Then, Sadayo would collect her coat, put it on, and thank the greenhouse staff again for the addtional opportunity before departing back into the hospital to make a clean exit. {Tending the Land :: exit : 2/2} : completed

              Sonyo walked in to the hospital, carrying in her hands a sack of the potatoes she had discovered some time ago; she was here to finally find out what they could do. She stopped at the receptionist's desk, and the receptionist lead her in the right direction. It seemed like everyone in the hospital either forgave her for her outburst and destruction of the hospital, or just didn't feel like bringing it up. Sonyo gave the receptionist a deep and respectful bow before walking off in the aforementioned direction, in to the bunker's lab. Once inside she opened the bag, which contained multiple different sections of the plant itself; the flowers, the tubers, the stalk, the seeds, anything she could have grabbed. She began to take each specimen and divide it up in to smaller bits, so that she could put it under microscopes and dissolve it in to solutions.

The red speckled, Wine-Mottled Suntatoes initially....

- Useful for Food production, high in starch, fiber, and containing at least 2 grams of Protein.
- Leaves, Fruit, green skins of immature tubers, and the Seeds contain the Toxin Solanine.
-- For Solanine information, see Nightshade ( Hazards System )

The initial findings were all rather normal, showing a normal potato, albeit one that grows in the dense rain forests of Suna. However, some additional effects not of the usual potato variety seemed to be lurking. If Sonyo could figure out what these were, she'd have a rather unique vegetable on hand.
