Once they entered into the area, Hakanai's heart sank. They should help out with the cleaning of the residential district. With a turn of her head, she looked towards Lilja. They both can feel it. The... darkness of this place. For a lack of better word. With a soft sigh, Hakanai had started to help. For her, she started to put debris and rubble into the wheelbarrow for it to be taken out.

Lilja on the other hand, doesn't want to hurt her mouth by picking up the debris. So she took on more of an easy job but slightly fun for Lilja. Which was to find vermins and kill them. Rats have the tendency to become infected after destruction like this. We don't want the villagers to get sick. And Lilja didn't want the rebuilt homes become infested. So with that, Lilja had started to sniff out and go on a hunt. This would be a good exercise for her anyways. Lilja should have Hakanai do this instead but she knew that the buildings really needed to be replaced. And Lilja knew that Hakanai would need help. So with that in mind, she thought of Kaileer. Nah. He's too busy.

Lilja stopped as she sniffed something. Definitely a large rat. With that, she followed the trail. Meanwhile, Hakanai was helping hauling the large parts of the rubble out as well rebuilding some walls. With a glance around, Hakanai wished she could use her jutsu to help the buildings stay upright and they could remove it easily without the worries of it falling. One problem. Hyouton ice wasn't exactly easy to be broken.

She entered the residential district and it was as dark and depressing as she remembered it. "We should be careful, extra careful...Karleen broke her arm here and we don't need any more injured, best we just concentrate on removing rubble and not making more of it" She'd tell Axel with a sigh thinking of her team mate, she felt rude as she had practically vanished. She might return to visit her at a later time but for now she had to focus on the task at hand, shed try to be gentle with the cloak but eventually she'd just tie it around herself as well as she possible could, semi sash semi belt, shed be okay with it for now, she had to find a better way of keeping it.

The boy entered the residential district behind the girl He set the pelt and painting aside in a clean and safe corner of the residential district, he turned to Rin and gave her a warm smile. “Don’t worry about anything; weren’t you the girl that was going to bring down the hospital?” He teased his friend turning away from her, seeing some of the destruction that had taken a hold of the Residential District. He had never been here, she could most likely see it in his eyes by the way they wandered around taking in the environment around him, there was a lot of rubble, he could assure her that. “And if anything goes wrong, I’ll take care of it before it can turn into anything serious.” He said to her, turning his back on the girl, placing his fists on his hip. This was his chance to prove himself for her, she had kissed him twice, but he felt he had not earned those, here he would do his best to earn the girl’s kisses, and maybe even her heart! Whatever happened to that Karleen girl would never happen to Rin, because he had a weapon no one in her squad did: Iron Sand.

Lilja had killed quite a few but she also had the denency to not show the villagers the dead animal's body. It may upset some. When Lilja was discarding one of the animals when she had picked up a new scent. What was this? This scent was familiar but not familiar. Curious, she sniffed her way through the scent, having a bit of difficulty with the heavy snow falling. Hakanai turned to find her friend and frowned softly when she didn't. But she saw someone familiar. A red haired male. With a smile, Hakanai walked over and waved towards them, approaching them but she stopped when she saw Lilja. The snow leopard was so focused. Did she find something? Curious, Hakanai followed LIlja. Across the street from a heavy building, it was tapped off because it would been too dangerous to enter.
Lilja ears twitched as she heard it. A cry. A cry of a hungry, lost and dying cub. Not only that, she heard the buildings. They were going to fall within seconds. Lilja ran into the building. Hakanai let out a startled yell as she ran into the building. Two steps in, the building had crashed onto both of them, sending dust everywhere. The ANBU on scene reacted quickly. They found Hakanai, she seemed to be okay after they removed some of the debris. She just entered so she didn't get the impact. Hakanai only had several bruises, few scratches and cut, and a possible broken ankle.
Where was the snow leopard? They found her and she was in much worse shape. Blood was coming out of her mouth and she was breathing but her breathing was labor. A soft growl in pain emitted from her. "Hey, we won't remove the rubble, a medic nin can still heal you if we leave it. Removing it will allow the blood to be lost inside your body..." Lilja glanced towards ANBU with her eye. Her body was covered by the debris except for her head. Grimaced, "No. There's a cub under me and he's still alive. Get him out."

He waved hello to Hakanai once he saw her, how did he miss her? But where was her grouchy, although affectionate, better half, Lilja? Be managed to spy she had the necklace on, which made the young genin smile, at least she liked her gift enough to wear it. He wondered if he had been there when she opened it if he would have received a kiss as well… He shook his head, that wasn’t likely. “Hakanai this i- whoops nevermind.” He turned to Rin embarrassed and held the girl’s hand for a moment, and then tapped his head band, just as she had done with Toso some time ago, to get he message across. “This is Hakanai, a friend, and the so called lover Toso was referring to.” He told Rin, not making any allusion about her deafness, as he found that to not be important, and still embarrassed because of his ignorance when they first met. He then realized, that his first impression with everyone had been odd. He made a fool out of himself with Hakanai, almost attacked Toso, fell for their own mistletoe with Rin, and met Karleen and Liori as an extension of this mistake, regardless, he had no regrets.
Everything happened so fast he could not stop the debris from falling on either of his friends. He was lost in his thoughts like a perfect moron, and because of it, the two girls were hurt, but he didn’t know how badly. “…” He bolted toward the commotion, his first instinct was to make sure that Hakanai was okay, he gave her a look and at least she was alive and in good shape. But then he turned to Lilja, and his face turned grimm. “Get her out of here. Be careful with her, she can’t hear. She’ll be very agitated when she’s separated from Lilja, be as kind as you can.” He clenched his first in frustration at the situation, and at himself. He bend his knees and put a hand on Lilja’s had. “Don’t worry… I’ll take care of you. I’ll move you to get the cub. I’ll get it to Hakanai to make sure the cub lives okay? But I won’t let you die.” He rubbed the cat’s head lightly and gulped.
Axel made a single hand sign bringing his hands together and magnetized all of the metal and rock based debris on the snow leopard until it turned into Iron Sand. The cat would likely feel relief there, but blood would begin to gush out. Without wasting a moment, he moved Lilja as gently as he could to not cause her pain, but he had to honor her wish to save the little creature under her. It was a small kitten, white or gray Axel could not determine because he was drenched in the blood of his dying friend, and frankly at in this moment he didn’t quite care. All he knew was that this little creature could cause Lilja her life. “TAKE HIM!” He growled, turning to face the closest ANBU. Anyone that could see him would see the rage in his eyes, but behind it was that distinct look of helplessness and despair.

"Well shes certainly got the looks of a lover" shed laugh at the comment. She remembered the girl from the dojo incident, she was another hyouton user, perhaps they could find some kinship in their abilities and help eachother out at some point. Maybe they could become best friends. But soon that laughter would turn into shock fear and despair. The girl had been buried under the debris, just as she had with her team she reacted but this time she was far too late and the duo were buried under it. Shed help get the girl out of the debris, she wasnt particularly strong but one more set of hands helping would be good enough to help things go as smoothly as possible. Axel was taking lead and giving orders, in a way it felt safer like that, someone whom was dependable was making sure things ran as smoothly as possible but still she worried, the leopard was still in there and by the sound of what she could hear Axel say, she wasn't doing to well.

Hakanai nodded as she understood when Axel tapped on his headband. This was good. He understood what allies and friendship meant. He also seemed to have a bit of a different personality than what she saw from him earlier. Had he learned a lot already like she did?

Lilja started to struggle to breathe. It could be detected. With a grimace, Lilja yowled out in pain when she was moved but calmed down when she heard the little feisty cub. When handed to the ANBU, the ANBU didn't like that a genin was giving out orders but he became distracted when the little cub did not want to be held. It meowed, squirmed, bit, scratched and being a bit of a soap. The ANBU was actually struggling to keep the cub still. Finally, he had to wrap his arms around it tightly as it growled in protest and meowed for it's mother.
Lilja chuckled before she gasped in pain and for air. "Li... Little S-Shuukenja... Give h-him to... her." Lilja's eyelids closed as she was still alive and breathing but was in much pain. Even when she tried to speak it took all she had. She just waited. Waited to finally see Kagami after not seeing her since she died. Lilja may have failed protecting Hakanai, but she succeeded in finding Hakanai her real partner, Hakanai and him would do well. She could already tell.
Hakani woke up at the side of the street as she groaned painfully. With a soft startled cry when she tried to move her body and her foot just sent her millions of pain. Sat up quickly, Hakanai inspected her ankle. Blinking few times, she looked at her bruised and scratched hands and arms. With a found, her hand went up and more blood on the side. What... Hakanai did her best to remember. The cold steel of the necklace pressed against her skin as she gasped and glanced around for Lilja but only saw the white haired female. WIth a frown, Hakanai started to try to get up to get in the building to find her.

Axel rubbed the leopard’s head. He heard her cries in pain and closed his eyes. No, no, no stay with me girl. He thought, looking at her side, and all he saw was red. He passed his hand gently, but the hair had given way to mush. “She’s suffering.” He felt cold. Not the Rin kind of cold that made him feel at ease, at home, and in one word, wonderful, this was a horrible cold, a cold that made his hands and lips shake. “She’s suffering… and I can’t save her…” He was talking to himself now, but his hand went for his sword, in the process soaking himself in the cat’s blood. “Lilja… He muttered, running his free hand on the cat’s head. “You sweet, grouchy cat. The pain will stop soon, don’t worry. You make Hakanai proud. You made her happy. Never doubt that.” He never stopped rubbing her head, her ears, feeling the thin, now blood soaked hair in between his fingers, even after he plunged his blade through her skull, right through her brain in one swift motion to make her suffer as little as possible. “I couldn’t let Hakanai do it… I couldn’t.” He was talking to himself, shaking now that the cat had died, he repeated it over and over, intertwining it with the fact that Lilja was suffering. That was enough, right? Hakanai didn’t have to kill her best friend. He could carry whatever feelings his friend would carry for him afterward, so long as she didn’t have to go through the pain of killing her partner. He didn’t notice that he was crying until he saw the tears fall on the snow-filled ground. He passed his blood soaked hands on his face to wipe his tears, covering his eyes and nose with Lilja’s blood. His friend’s blood. “We do these things so others don’t have to…” He thought, remembering what he told Rin while building the tree. He stood from the ground and jerked his sword from the body, and then sheathed it without even cleaning the blade. He then turned and walked away from the scene. He couldn’t face Hakanai, not after killing Lilja, never after this; he wasn’t even sure he could look at her, but one thing he did know was that she would not hate herself, and at the very least, that made this easier on him, even if it was just slightly. Once he was far away enough, he dropped on his knees to the floor with his back to the girls, the ANBU, and his dead friend and cried. He wasn't sobbing loudly, it was a silent crying with the occasional word in a strange language; a prayer for his friend, and then a prayer for the god of the dead.

"Hakanai please you must stay still you cant go back in there..." she would plead to the injured girl to stay down using her ice release and wrapping a bit of Hakanais leg injury in ice, eventually having to hold the girl down. She might end up injuring herself more if she did anything rash or stupid and currently it was Rins job to keep her from doing that. "You shouldn't go back in there its dangerous and theres way to much you could injure yourself with please just be still." she needed to keep Hakanai calm and there wasn't much she could do other than hold the girl down, granted she might eventually overpower Rin, the desperation on her face was clear. Rin made the mistake of looking back to where Axel was, and she saw him walking away, soaked in blood. Her eyes grew wide for a moment but she had to maintain her cool, and she would keep it, trying to keep Hakanai as calm as possible, and herself too for that matter, going back to a less surprised more concerned face when looking back at the injured girl.

Hakanai froze for a moment in surprise when the ice jutsu had appeared and wrapped around her leg. Her eyes narrowed at the female as she frown. She shook her head and got out her kunai but stopped as an ANBU exit with a bloody cub. Confused and overwhelmed, she saw the cub protesting and fidgeting in his arms. With a frown, she felt immediately protective. Snarled at the ANBU as if he was hurting the cub, she snatched the little one form his arms. The cub had suddenly quieten down and fell asleep in her arms. What was going on? Even Hakanai seemed confused.
Not long after, her blue hues glanced towards the movement and saw Axel left the house... very bloodied. Her eyes went wide as she held the cub with one hand and lashed out an ice attack towards Rin. The ANBU pulled Rin away quickly, "Leave her be. She's... lashing out." Hakanai felt hurt and she didn't know why. As someone took a part of her soul away. But she also felt connected and loved by this little cub. What was going on!? Hakanai got up and cried out in pain softly as she got to the door way and stopped at the pool of blood. Her eyes widen as she collapsed onto her knees and let out a blood curling wail before bringing the now awoke cub close to her face as she cried into both her arms and the young cub that looks like a snow leopard but with slightly different skeletal structures.

After the last incident where two shinobi--Seiji and a genin named Karleen--were injured from a collapsing building part of the district had been blocked off. But because the shinobi were the ones doing the rebuilding, they were still allowed access to the area. And now... -----There was another accident, this time involving Hakanai and Lilja. -----I hated my anger. All extreme emotions seemed to lead to it. I was angry, but not necessarily because of the situation. I was angry because I'd let myself get close to someone again. And now something had happened to them. After Kazumi and Viktor died during the mortar strikes, I'd stayed away from everyone. I was angry that I couldn't do anything to save them. There were Samuru and Jae, but both were so abrasive that it felt like talking to a brick wall. And Wan, of course, but he was a brick wall. -----I ran clear from the dojo to the residential district the moment I let the ANBU go, as fast as my legs would carry me. I hoped to whatever gods existed that they were hurt, not dead. Or better yet, they were fine. -----Then I heard the scream. It tore through the silent district and rent the hearts of anyone that heard it. My blood turned to ice, my anger evaporating in an instant, and I slowed to a halt. Moving forward slowly now, I approached the source of the cry, which had devolved into hysterical sobbing. Besides ANBU, two others were present, both I assumed as genin since I didn't really recognize them. If I did, it didn't register. My gaze was locked onto Hakanai's huddled form. She was alive, but... -----Close enough now, the unasked question was answered for me. A pile of blood-stained fur lay inside the remains of a collapsed building. Lilja. There was no one else it could be. It felt like a hole opened up in my chest. It wasn't just sympathy for the white-haired genin, but after the day before, they were more than just faces in the crowd to me. -----An ANBU nearby drew my attention away slightly. They were waiting for orders. Orders... Right. "This place isn't safe... Get everyone out." Assuming they'd done as instructed, I knelt beside Hakanai and wrapped my arms gently but firmly around her, doing what little I could to comfort her.

Rin was attacked by the fellow ice user, but was moved out of the way by an ANBU quickly enough. She understood the girls desperation. She remained silent and let out a sigh, but soon the scream would frighten her too. She would close her eyes while it lasted and once it calmed down and turned into more of a sobbing. She'd fetch their things, Axels portrait and pelt wrapping them in her own pelt cloak and fetching the redhead. She saw the stranger enter and was giving out orders, she assumed he was of a higher ranking and decided to follow orders and began getting out of the area as quickly as possible. This wasn't a comfortable spot to be in and she wouldn't be in it very long, she refused to leave the girl but in her current emotional state there wasnt anything the duo could do for her. And she certainly wasn't about to risk being attacked again" Axel...lets go we should leave..." Shed say with a sorrow filled sigh. Shed eventually place a gentle hand on her friends shoulder, there was blood all over him and it made her feel a terrible chill down her spine. She would move her friend now, being approached by the ANBU whom were mostly just helping around. Shed let them know they were going and would just take her friend elsewhere, the hospital seemed appropriate, they might be able to find a place to sit down and maybe be cleaned up.

While lost in her grief, she didn't sense someone was approaching her. When a pair of hands rested on her, the arm around the cub immediately got tighter to protect the little one as she struggled against his grip. When Hakanai turned to shove the person off, she stopped, seeing Kaileer. She just lost it. Her free arm went around him as she buried her face into his chest, the cub between their chest. It meowed softly.
Hakanai's mind was blank, all she could think if there was any thoughts was seeing Lilja like that. The ice jutsu wore off on her leg as she felt the throbbing pain from her broken ankle. She wanted to tell him to get her away from here but she didn't have a voice. The only voice she had was gone.

She was on the heavy side, but bearable for the moment. Centering my chakra, I entered Zama no Ikou to help with the task of carrying. It not only blocked out the myriad of emotions that was beginning to swell but helped me ignore the limitations of my body. I would regret it later but, for the moment, I didn't care. "I'll take her to the hospital. Move..." Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes briefly. The body somewhere safe for now." I took a step away, but then stopped again, turning back to the ANBU.
