"Yes, even though." Daemon said with a small chuckle as he picked her up and sat her down on his knee while he sat on her bed. "You dumped the hell's court position on me, remember? If I didn't have a child, I'd risk dragging you, Larai, and her entire family down to hell with me. I didn't want to break her heart by forcing such a role on another woman, so I waited until she was ready instead. Some months from now, you'll be a big sister." he told her with a smile.

Milly looked even more confused, perhaps slightly disturbed. She was not ready for such..such benevolence! It was not unwelcome, but it was horribly shocking to say the least. "You care how she feels?"

"Yes, believe it or not, I do." Daemon said with a small chuckle. "It tends to come with being in love."

"Outside of family bonds, isn't love just another word for having an insatiable hunger for sex with that person?" Milly asked, getting pretty close to 'blue screen of death' mode.

"No, not necessarily. Love can also be just wanting to spend your life with that person, just wanting to see them happy." Daemon said with a pure smile.

"So...in that sense, is she your first love?" Milly asked, wondering if Larai was the one who brought this about or if it was another.

"That's right. It...probably helps that you, er, softened me up some too...." Daemon said giving her a hug as he brought up her previous treatment of him. "I'm just lucky she was willing to forgive and forget."

"But...but I was horrible! Now that I think of it, I don't even see how things ended this well.." Milly said, her tone soft and sullen. She looked down, seeming to realise the severity of her actions.

"Does it matter how? Everyone's happy now, that's the important thing." Daemon said giving her a little kiss on the cheek.

Milly almost couldn't keep the tears from flowing from her eyes. Upon realising how horrible she had been, he's still willing to forgive her? It felt like...like it was too good to be true. "..Daddy? Are you sure you don't hate me?"

"I'm sure. I don't hate you in the slightest." Daemon said, hugging her close as he gently stroked her hair.

Milly whined softly, clinging all the tighter to Daemon as she fought back tears.

"Shhhh....Shshshhh...." Daemon gently dried her tears as they came while trying to calm her down.

Milly muttured words of apology over and over again, crying for a good while. It seems that even with this, it would also take time to heal old wounds.

"Shhhh...It's alright, you don't need to apologize." Daemon said softly as he gently rocked her back and forth.
