Tired. When was the last time he had been this tired?

Severin sat on a stretcher in a hallway, in the same scrubs he had been in for the past 48 hours. One leg was propped up to support the arm holding his head, the other was flat down with a giant binder open on it. Seven more binders sat in a haphazard pile beside him. Charts. He scribbed something in the chart precariously balanced on his thigh as gossip trailed to him from two nurses gossiping as they passed.

    "Did you hear?"
    "Hm?"
"That hunk of a kage is here... a man that could with children? Do you think he'd agree to dinner?"

Good luck with that, Severin grumbled in his mind. Inka was as emotionally available as a lamppost. It had been a while since his meeting with Inka, and a spare few memories had floated back to him in that that. The Raigyo's ice blue eyes looked up through his bangs as the nurses walked past.

    "No! Didn't you hear?"
    "Hm?"
    "He's gay."
    "A FU-"

The nurses disappeared through a door and Sev grumbled under his breath, looking back at the chart. His eyes scanned through the tests results in front of him, his brain creaking to a start as he tried to process the numbers. In the wake of the event that saw a not so small number of people turned in to children, Shi had enlisted the help of several medical shinobi to find the cause.

The after affects of this age regression were obvious and strange. Even though everyone had returned back to normal, several people were seeing their health improve. As if all their bodily systems had been clensed and rebooted. The current chart that he was looking at was a civilian who had been a type II diabetic. Had been. Now the patient's pancreas was once again working on it's own, creating the insulin the patient needed to survive.

Baffled, Severin ran a hand through his hair, an absolutely confused expression on his face. What if people started regrowing lost limbs? Removed organs? There was a downside to this, right? The young man felt like he was in way above his head at this point. Letting out a sigh, he scribbled in the cart for an MRI and CT scan and picked up the next chart.

He'd have to talk with Kagerou. She'd help him make sense of this.

A trip to the hospital was a little excessive. Shusaku ended up encountering his mother anyways after the shinobi police went over to the flower shop to further investigate the incident. 'A kid with a black bomber jacket and really good hair handled it' was all it took for Shusaku's mother lose her mind. Now he was here, sitting on the edge of the hospital bed covered in some minor bandages and an awkward silence between him and the nurse. He would've scolded his mother about the bill they'd have to pay off, if he hadn't found out that most medical care for Shinobi was free, or very minimal in cost. "Are... you sure you're okay?" The silence was finally broken, but the awkwardness remained. Shusaku couldn't tell why she had been looking at him so strangely since he arrived. "I mean... yea? Look, I know I might not look like the strongest guy in the world, but these bruises aren't much. I'll be fine!" He gave her his most charming smile, yet the air of genuine concerned failed to subside. It wasn't until after he loudly yawned, and reopened his eyes that the nurse's expression changed to that of confusion. "I could probably use a nap, though. Mind if I crash here for quick snooze?"

A short thirty minute nap later, Shusaku made his way out of the hospital, snacking on a piece of jerky.

Medical Notes on Senju, Sypher Jaeger
To be shared with attending medic, next of kin and the current Hokage ONLY.

Age: 28(?)
Sex: Male
Village originating from: Kirigakure
Rank: Sanin
Health at admission to hospital: Poor
Important notes: possible missing Sandaime of Kirigakure [unverified, awaiting test results] See below for blood test results.

Initial diagnoses: Patient entered suffering from several afflictions, the most severe of these being PTSD induced memory loss, dehydration, exhaustion, insomnia, and physical ailments including sores, partially healed penetrations of the chest, shoulders, and thighs, potentially undiagnosed eating disorder, damage to the body commonly associated with exposure to the environments without proper shelter and clothing, including heavily damaged soles of the feet, evidence of severe sun exposure resulting in 1st degree burns on shoulders and neck, healed wounds associated with disorientation such as falls, trips, minor breaks in the wrist and hands, cuts on the palms, and finally emotional insecurity, and mental irregularities. Patient is also suffering from severe fear of abandonment but does not appear to be aware of willing to acknowledge this diagnosis, suggesting the patient is still struggling with something. Patient has also suffered a chakra wound, though the nature of this will be recorded later. See below for chakra diagnosis.

Details of diagnoses:
PTSD - post traumatic stress disorder as a result of a trauma that the patient is unable or unwilling to recall in detail. Patient admits to being “trapped underground, in the roots, in the stone, in the water” for several years though is unaware of the actual amount of time. Memory loss includes all ability to recall or execute jutsu. Details related to time spent missing is withheld from the patient until identity is verified.
Symptoms of this diagnosis: Patient is suffering from related memory loss, resulting in an inability to recall certain memories as well as the distortion or corruption of other memories. Patient is able to associate memories with people, however, but these are often unreliable unless associated with the following: Hizara, Inka, and Jaeger, Minowa.
Recommended treatment: Patient has done all the necessary steps to handle these issues, including the use of a service animal [Aika, wolf-dog, 1.5 years old], breathing exercises, anchoring, etc. It is recommended that the patient also speak to a therapist or other professional to help with additional or new symptoms.
Dehydration - Case is mild, patient has/is taking steps to reverse the diagnosis and has agreed to a saline drip.
Exhaustion - Patient is suffering from extreme exhaustion of the body, with muscles showing damage from overuse. Recommend hospital stay for 1-2 weeks to recover.
Insomnia - Patient has recurring nightmares and a fear of dreaming, perhaps related to the event that caused the PTSD. As such, induced insomnia whereby the patient refuses to sleep until they pass out has become a recurring symptom. Patient has refused treatment but has agreed to speak to a sleep therapist while staying at the hospital. Recommend hospital stay for 1-2 weeks to recover.
Sores - Marks of healed sores are present on the following areas of the patient's body: feet, palms, left hip, lower back, and shoulder blades. Suggests spending dangerously long periods of time in a prone position. Patient reports that while trapped he was unable to move, suggesting the sores on the lower back and shoulder blades are from laying prone, possibly on the left side. No sign of bone degeneration and sores appear to have healed without infection, with the exception of the left hip. Discoloration of the skin suggests a deep infection however no bone damage was evident. Patient received scar cream to aid in the healing.
Penetrations - Patient has a number of what first appeared to be lesions on the chest, shoulders, upper arms, and upper legs and thighs. Upon closer examination, injuries were revealed to be scars from deep penetrating trauma to the skin and muscle. These scars are oval in shape, with varying diameters, and irregular edges, suggesting an organic component. Examination of the muscle revealed shadows indicating the penetration was into the muscle as well. Patient was unwilling to discuss the injuries, becoming upset and requiring the assistance of a trauma nurse and his service animal. Patient was sedated when neither were able to calm the patient and the danger of self-harm was evident.
Eating disorder - Patient shows a strong distrust of foods that are plant based, refusing to eat and, when pressed to eat, will vomit to remove the food when left alone. However, patient also seems to present with a need to eat as quickly as possible which can result in a similar response to the plant based food. A dietician has been called to assist in the treatment of this eating disorder. On both the recommendation of the dietician and the treatment team, patient should remain in the hospital for 1-2 weeks with potential for extended stay until next of kin can be notified or patient can correct eating behaviors.
Exposure - Evidence of long term exposure to environmental factors such as lack of housing, lack of bedding, exposure to weather, and exposure to animals. The resulting damage has, for the most part, healed due to time. It is, however, recommended that the origins of this damage be explored more thoroughly to ascertain the cause.
Burns - Related to the exposure, patient has evidence of 1st degree (minor) burn scarring on shoulders and neck. Patient received scar cream to aid in the healing.
Mental distress - Patient has shown great mental and emotional distress during assessment. At one point, the service animal was accidentally removed from the room and resulted in a severe panic episode that required the use of oxygen and restraints to prevent the patient from self-harm. This is suggestive not only of extreme reliance on the service animal but also of abandonment fears. Potential causes may be found in the PTSD induced memory loss, as it is clear that the patient had lived for alone for some time after suffering a trauma. Emotional distress is also present, though this is harder to diagnose. Patient seems to be unable to express words or feelings at times, requiring the treatment team to repeat their questions. Patient also directs expression and hand gestures rather than words, implying that while they may be thinking an answer, they are unable to verbalize it. It is unclear what is the underlying cause of this.

Danger level of patient: Patient is not a danger to others but has the potential to be a danger to himself without treatment prescribed above. It is the recommendation of the treatment team that the patient’s next of kin be notified and that the patient remain in the care of the village [Konohagakure] until status can be changed from Poor to Healthy.

Additional notes
Chakra examination: Patient has suffered some sort of chakra leeching, as it appears the chakra that manifests around him is unsteady and fluctuates between levels. While it does not cause the patient any pain, it is strange to see. It is suggestive that, at one point, the patient’s chakra pool was much greater than it is currently. Rest and meditation is recommended to aid in chakra stabilization. The chakra pool matches the shared record of the chakra pool from the missing Sandaime of Kirigakure.

Blood test results: Patient is of mixed descent, showing the markers for both Mokuton and Hyoton bloodlines. Patient has a low white blood cell count that is being corrected with therapy. Patient does not show signs of drugs, intoxicants, or inhibitors in blood. Patient has high levels of stress hormone in the blood, to be treated. Patient also has trace amounts of antibodies that were seen after the Plaguebearer attacks in Kirigakure. Additionally, patient shows signs of growing up in a high altitude, such as Kumogakure. The markers for Mokuton and Hyoton match the shared records of the missing Sandaime of Kirigakure. Both the presence of the Plaguebearer antibodies and the high altitude markers match the shared records of the missing Sandaime of Kirigakure.

* Patient has listed Inka Hizara, currently Mizukage, and Minowa Jaeger, as next of kin.

It is the opinion of this treatment team that the likelihood of the patient being the missing Sandaime of Kirigakure, Sypher J. Senju, is confirmed. Therefore, upon release from the hospital, it is the recommendation that the patient be returned his name and that his status as missing/presumed dead be removed.

Aika whined at the foot of Sypher’s hospital bed, her head resting on the blanket that covered his legs. He had an IV hooked up to his left arm that was pumping a saline solution into his body to help him rehydrate. On his right arm, nutrient bags and a strong sedative flowed gently into his arm. HIs chest rose and fell regularly, his eyes closed. One of the nurses had taken pity on his hair and trimmed the edges up before braiding it and setting it beside him so it didn’t get tangled. He was wearing a pair of hospital pajama pants and an loose v-neck hospital shirt, his old clothes folded and set neatly on the table near his head. A tray on the end of his bed held a pitcher of water and a cup, along with a little tray of crackers and cheese. Arms at his side, he slept deeply without any dreams thanks to the sedative. His chart hung off the left side of the bed, undisturbed since the last doctor had come in. Aika whined again, louder, and a passing nurse paused before coming in “What’s wrong, sweet?” having already established herself as a well mannered and very good wolf-dog, Aika had been given lots of pats and snacks after Sypher had been put to bed. Now, however, it was clear she wanted something else. She danced around Sypher’s bed, whining, clearly wanting to be up next to him. But the hospital bed wasn’t big enough “Oh! One moment, can I get some help with this?” the nurse hijacked a resident and together they pushed a second bed up against Sypher’s bed on the right side. Immediately, Aika leapt easily onto the surface and circled before laying down with her head across Sypher’s thighs. The nurse and the resident smiled as they left, dimming the lights but not so much as to alarm Sypher if he woke up when a nurse wasn’t present. Throughout the entire thing, he didn’t stir except to turn his head to the right and let out a soft sigh. Outside his room, the Jounin from the Hokage’s office stood guard. The Jounin had been forced to help the treatment team after Sypher had suffered the panic attack, helping to restrain the man from harming himself. It was clear that whatever trauma he had been through, Sypher was not a danger to anyone but himself.

Sypher slowly came out of the sedative, his chest itching from the scar cream, and the first thing he saw was Aika on the bed pushed up to the side of his. Her eyes were bright and open on him, lighting up as he blinked at her, and her tail began to thump excitedly on the bed Hello. he thought, reaching out gingerly to rub her jowls. The IV in his arm was a bit painful but there was a mild pain reliever in with the sedative so it didn’t hurt too much Did I...have another episode? he could feel a slight point of bruising on his upper thigh, suggesting a forced injection. His memory was a little fuzzy from the sedative but he felt better than he had in months. Aika was licking his wrist now, having had her own medical check up that included a heartworm preventative, updated shots, far too many treats, and lots of belly rubs. She had been fed earlier as well, a massive bowl of bones and meat special order from the kitchen.

Sypher’s food was sitting on the little tray at the foot of his bed and had very simple foods including fruits, some cheese, a bit of meat, and a biscuit. Starting small, he remembered the dietician telling him, was the best way to overcome the issues he was having with foods. Still...he didn’t really want to eat any of that. Pushing the button to make his bed rise so that he was sitting up, he leaned over to take the glass of water at his bedside. Draining the glass, he carefully poured himself another glass but paused as he saw his clothes and belongings Ah. he picked them up and deposited the pile in his lap. He ignored the clothes except to dig through the pockets, taking out a few items. The first was a ring on a slender silver chain which he slipped over his head, tucking it absently under his collar. The second was the pair of ribbons which he folded neatly and then slipped in his pajama pant pockets, his braided hair not needing to be tied back at the moment. The rest of the clothes were of little interest to him. They weren’t actually his, but were instead clothes that he had taken from the abandoned houses that he’d found. If he could get his clothes, his yukata and his body suit, then he would be happy. Sypher didn’t immediately discard the old clothes because it was obvious they had been folded with some care.

Aika snuffled the clothes as he put them down on the bed near her head and she rubbed her snout into the clothes, sniffing deeply. Sypher gently pat her on the head as a nurse came in to take his vitals, turning the light back on proper “The door-” he started hesitantly as the nurse got ready to leave “I’ll leave it open, don’t you worry.” she comforted him, patting his hand before she left. Sypher fiddled a bit with the blanket over his legs, watching the world pass outside his door, letting Aika nibble on the meat that was on his plate. She wouldn’t touch the other things anyway so there was not really a point in scolding her Just leave me the fruits and biscuit. he thought, taking the biscuit and nibbling on the edge a bit.

Minowa and Itoko arrived at the Hospital and were almost immediately wondering around the perimeter, following the path that surrounded it before coming across a grounds map for all visitors. "Kort. Yahrd." He read aloud, still having a small accent whenever he did so. "Court. Yard." He repeated, softer now, and peered down a pathway that should lead to said designation. He walked without fear, appearing like he was meant to be there, used to the encouragements of his Papa to ignore what others are thinking or talking about, as well as the comfort that there was a shadow in the shadows looking out for him.

Arriving in the courtyard, Minwa walked around, Itoko snuffling fervently at the ground they walked along thanks to the veritable plethora of whole new scents. "Mhm," Minowa made the quietest noise and Itoko looked up. The Mist Genin was staring up a tree growing not too far from a wall of the hospital. Itoko, taking the signal immediately, scurried up the tree faster than he had walked the ground, chirped a noise upon reaching the top, and Minowa followed after him. Together, they looked down, double checking that Chihiro was following them. Could Botamochi get up here? He is a nin-dog but dogs aren't arboreal by nature...

They made it to the icky hospital as Chihiro smiled, her hands on her hips as if she were announcing to the hospital, 'Never fear! Chihiro and Botmochi is here!' All she was missing was a cape flowing behind her. Botamochi was too, missing a cape as he sat down like a good watchdog puppy. Curious, she watched the Mist Nin go off to read somewhere. "Huh...?" She questioned softly, peeking around from behind as he was pronouncing courtyard under his breath. With furrowed brows, she glanced up at him, "What does ... coot yar mean?" She questioned. Her reading skills aren't on par. At all. In fact, her parents have to wrangle her to read, and sometimes it was too much of a fight and chore that some nights, she gets away with it. They walked away, Itoko first as he climbed a tree. Her eyes shined and glistened underneath the sun. "Ooh," exclaimed Chihiro as she made her way over and had to hop to get to the nearest branch. Legs flailing everywhere as she grunted and pulled herself up. She did it! A whine. A whine? Where was this - Oh! Her head shot down as she saw the sad-looking Botamochi, paws on the bark as he scrambled to get up the tree. He ran up to the tree which resulted in scrambles. His paws was scratching the tree, "Stop." She said as she slid down but misstepped and landed on Botamochi who yelped in surprise. "Oof.." Chihiro said as she glanced around, looking for Botamochi's whose head was underneath Chihiro's butt.

Movement. She felt movement underneath. "Oh! Sorry, Botamochi!" With that, she quickly got up as Botamochi looked stunned than anything. Chihiro checked over Botamochi and even pulled his jowl up to check his puppy teeth. "You're okay?" She questioned as Botamochi barked in response and licked her cheek. With a giggle, she glanced up and snapped her fingers. "Oh! I have idea!" She said as she pulled the confused Botamochi towards her. She lifted her shirt and stuffed Botamochi inside. Botamochi wiggled for a bit and pop, his head poked out of her collar as he gave few more kisses to Chihiro. "Stop, I need focus," giggled Chihiro. With that, he stopped and Chihiro was determined. What she didn't think of, that Botamochi would most likely slide out of her since she was holding him by her arms. "Here goes!" She said as she jumped to grip the tree, the surprised Botamochi attempted to cling to her but failed as he plopped out of her shirt and landed onto the ground with a thud and dirt kicking up.

Aika’s ear flicked back as a noise outside caught her attention, her head coming up as she looked over her shoulder. Sypher was contemplating the cheese at this point but Aika’s movement paused his hand What? she suddenly was up on her feet and bounced off the bed to put her paws on the windowsill, which faced a large tree. Sypher tilted his head, curious at what had caught her attention, but was under strict orders from the nurses to NOT get out of bed.

Meanwhile, Aika watched the going ons outside with her large head tilted to the left then the right, ears perked up. A small, blonde haired child was climbing the tree after a large black thing that reminded Aika of a river creature Syy had let her catch for her dinner. This large beast, however, looked far less appetizing. And she had already eaten. The window was deep but locked, and she whined slightly, lifting a paw to scratch at the window. Sypher glanced out his door but couldn’t see anyone who could help Aika get the window open ...Can I? he wondered, but frowned. He could just sit and eat the cheese.

Aika let out a heavy whimper that fogged the glass for a moment, her nose pressed against the glass. Her golden orange eyes were fixed on the boy and the strange beast but- there was something else! She stood up on her back legs, standing at a little under 5ft as she did so, to watch another small child arrive at the base of the tree with another animal. A dog! Aika’s tail began to make large circular wags and Sypher felt a little smile lift his lips. Was there enough room to move over there? The IVs in his arms suggested he would not succeed at trying to open the window “Aika.” she turned at her name and he made a strange jerking motion with his head. But it appeared to make sense to her because she turned around and nosed the window latch, jerking her head in much the same way Sypher had. It took some effort but the top window swung up and open, allowing Aika to push the majority of her head out the window. By then, the other child, a girl, was making some failed attempts to get up the tree as well. Secretly, Aika was cheering her on with increased and decreased wags of the tail, much to Sypher's confusion. She grinned, panting, at the scene with her long pink tongue hanging out, curious about these new faces and creatures that she was getting so see.

Minowa and Itoko watched the pair scramble around at the base of the tree, Itoko's ears flickering as though agitated and Minowa still and contemplative. "Mhm." The Mist nin scrambled down with ease of practice and crouched over the puppy after the recent failed attempt. After setting up the canine from the ground and checking for injuries, Minowa pinched it by the scruff of its neck and watched to see how the dog would react. "Good boy." Minowa praised softly, though he sounded monotonous. Then he crouched lower, scuffed the dog with his teeth this time, and scrambled back up the tree before holding the pup in his lap, looking down at Chihiro and motioning to follow.

Itoko, meanwhile, had remained in the tree, caramel eyes scanning over their surroundings until a scratching noise had it alert and twitching its nose. Eventually, its eyes locked onto the large, black blob behind a window, peering down at them with its teeth-filled maw and fire-like eyes. Itoko hunched up, claws digging into the wood and fur flaring up as though to appear larger than he was. Besides the Binturong, a young Mist nin instinctively did the same, curling protectively over the pup in his lap, and Summer-blue eyes following the line of sight Itoko had and also finding the predator staring down at them. Minowa and Itoko both widened their eyes in shock as the beast managed to figure out how to get her head out the window and, with Itoko watching the wolf, Minowa was on the move, instincts overruling sense as he leaps, utilising a Hurricane kick to knock in a vent, scurrying along the metal tube a few meters to allow room for Itoko and Chihiro to follow before placing the pup down.

This was better, Itoko thought. This was safe, Minowa replied.

User Image Sunlight poured generously through the open window, illuminating one of the hospital's many rooms. Sounds of medical monitoring equipment were only rivaled by the jagged rhythm of a pen scrawling against a clipboard. Sitting at a table near the occupied hospital bed was a tall, dark-haired man with gentle blossom-colored eyes. His expression was somber, but not for any particular occurrence. It was always that way. The lack of a headband in favor of an eagle-faced mask was evidence of his profession, but he was far from engaging in a covert operation. No, he seemed to have taken on the role of a physician, one who was reporting the same findings for days.

Scribbling his signature at the bottom of a page, the man took it from the clipboard and rapped his knuckles gently against the wall behind him.

"Hmm? Something you need, Kesshō?" A feminine voice chimed from the window, though how she popped her head in despite being several stories up was anyone's guess. There were no discernable features other than her braided rose-colored hair because of the blank mask, but the cute tilt of her head in curiosity let some personality shine through. Said charm was ignored by Kesshō, who folded the paper he was writing on into an envelope. Scrawling a name and location on the back, he extended a cold, prosthetic hand out towards the pinkette without sparing her a glance. "I want you to deliver this to the person it's addressed to so that she leaves me alone." He stated in a tone that started dull but leaned into being nearly indiscernible since he yawned mid-way through. Muttering something close to an apology for his manners, the senior ANBU carefully rubbed his eyes with his other hand - one that was also a metal prosthetic.

Behind her mask, the junior ANBU operative broke her gaze from Shō to scan the hospital bed. Slowly, her hand grasped the letter and pulled back. "Is there a relation?" She asked cautiously, inquisitive but not so crass that she'd overstep her boundaries. The boy in the bed had some relevance to the Mizukage if he sent operatives to the water country to retrieve him, but she was shot down for being nosy regarding his case earlier. Shrugging his shoulders in response, the blossom-eyed man answered her. "I'd think she's his wife with how much she's been nagging me, but he's too young, I think." He faintly turned his head to gaze at her expression, but her blank mask and subsequent head tilt foiled any signs of amusement. Seeing that his poor attempt at telling a joke failed miserably, he sorrowfully sighed before continuing. "If I had to bet on a guess, I'd say she's his primary. The Mizukage made it clear that he wanted her to do a consultation on the target's case, and she's been on my back for any little change in status ever since. That's all you're getting, by the way." He glared at her pointedly to express that he acknowledged her nosy behavior, but it softened into a familiar smile soon after he "saw" her reaction. It was more like he sensed her change in demeanor and noticed her bumbling over what to say before she merely nodded, leaving soon after.

With her gone, the lone ANBU had little else to do. He finished his examination on the target's vitals and did his full report, so he'd have no regrets if he decided to clock out. He'd add the boy onto the nurse's route and then check on him after getting some fresh air. His plan to get out of watching a sleeping kid for the next couple of hours appeared foolproof, but it was razed the moment he heard the sudden intake of breath behind him.

- - -

"I'd prefer it with we could speak like grown-ups now. Are you okay with that?" Kesshō asked, removing his hand from the crystal structure in front of him. His other arm was warped and useless, destroyed in whatever it was that left the rest of the room a mess. The bed was against the wall, and in its original place was its former occupant, imprisoned in rose quartz. The boy's head and arms were - for the most part - free, but the crystals kept his joints locked.

"Fine. Whatever you're going to do, get it over with." He seethed, striking vehemently with his tone in place of his restrained limbs. Still groggy and inhibited by his long sleep, the former Genin couldn't place where he was or why he woke up in a bed. Because he didn't wake up with multiple guards around, he took the opportunity to lash out at his captor. If he were lucky, the taller man would have a key or weapon he could use, but his initial assault fell short of his normal capabilities. Or maybe the other man was just stronger than him. Ultimately, he lost and needed to use his chakra's remainder to keep his body from melding with the crystal. Red eyes watched the man intently as he turned away and walked towards the only door.

"I've heard about your situation. I wish I could have comforted you on better terms, but I wasn't warned that you might lash out." He stated, and with his back turned, he wasn't able to see the other party's confused expression. Kesshō peeled off the fuuin he placed on the door and crushed it in his palm using his right hand, disabling the sensory disruption technique placed over the room. He put it there as soon as he felt the room's atmosphere change earlier, deciding against calling for assistance. He already needed to make another medical report for the target's nagging doctor and a message for the Mizukage. Calling in others to restrain the boy wasn't worth the trouble of adding more paperwork, so he decided to handle the situation on his own. It panned out well in his head, but he wound up surprised. Even if he didn't focus on combat, he didn't expect a Genin to give him any trouble, and he paid for that with his left arm. "My name is Kesshō, a medical ANBU assigned to you. You're in Konoha now. You're safe."

User Image "My name is Takeda. I'm seventeen years old, and I was born in the water country. After Kirigakure's flood, I became a Shinobi and learned directly under Jack Harren Snipe." The red-eyed boy explained, sitting in his bed once more. Time passed since his little brawl with the ANBU, and they put back whatever items there was that avoided destruction. Breaking eye contact, Takeda dropped his gaze down towards his hands, placing one over the other. He let his fingers glide across the back of his hand and felt a strange emptiness inside of him. Before, the tendrils beneath his skin would have responded, and while he felt a solid response against his touch, it was nothing like it was previously.

Something changed, and it was starting to worry him.

"And your last name, Takeda? Also, what's your rank?" He asked, paying no mind to the younger boy's internal plight.

"Takeda's fine. Genin." The curt response wasn't particularly hostile, but it was direct enough to get across that his last name would remain a mystery. He didn't raise his gaze either and instead tried to form a sigil around his right arm. Nothing occurred, not even the twinge of a tendril beneath his flesh. The sinking feeling returned, but Takeda kept his breathing steady, refusing to give in to any panic right after reaching safety. Looking up to find a semblance of solace in his new company, the jiongu (?) saw his ANBU companion staring at his own destroyed arm, then back to Takeda. The somewhat incredulous expression on his normally stoic face was enough to spell out everything for him without saying a word. So, slightly bothered, he continued. "I never really cared about ranks, but any interest I might have had died with Jack."

"Don't you think a higher rank would give you a better position to carry on his legacy? It's not likely that we'll meet again in the future, but I'm not particularly fond of watching potential go to waste." Whether empty or meaningful, Kesshō wasn't interested in praising others. The boy in front of him, however, fought like a cornered tiger despite his circumstances. Even when weakened, debilitated, and dazed, he exhibited feats that Genin had issues drawing out. Combat instinct, pain tolerance, target acquisition, and raw strength to boot. Using the term "prodigy" was markedly less common than his praise, and that was already as scarce as hen's teeth, but it was difficult to avoid making the Kiri Genin an exception.

Takeda responded with a small, dry laugh. A fleeting one that hardly began before it finished, punctuated by him taking a sip from the glass of water at his bedside table. The ANBU noticed the ephemeral gesture and was willing to comment on it, but the younger shinobi spoke before Kesshō could say anything else. "I have a talent for this sort of thing, is that it? Whoever abducted me thought so too. I've heard that my whole life, and...tch. " It was hard to continue speaking without going into a self-deprecating spiel, and that wasn't what the other party asked for. Taking a moment to let out a long sigh, he spoke up again right after. "Inka is a much better fit to carry on any legacy Jack left behind. After...that place, I'm going to need some time to think before considering applying myself to anything. I know that it'd be wrong for me not to take my duties seriously, though, after Inka went through the trouble of helping me."

Kesshō clicked his tongue in thought, pondering on whether or not he should press the issue further. He would have if Takeda didn't stop himself from uttering that self-loathing drivel, but it seemed he understood what it meant to continue idly by after others risked their lives for his sake. "Do you want to talk about what happened there?" He offered, wanting to extend courtesy in exchange for the other's mature response.

"You said that the two who rescued me are in the hospital, right? Kiri nin. We both know it's their job to handle that part of things, but thanks for asking." He responded with a small, insignificant smile. One too weak to be true. Relaying the story once would be challenging enough, and he wasn't prepared to do it twice. The ANBU's job was to verify Takeda's lucidity and identity with a series of questions. The comment on his potential and the offer were both far out of the left field, but he didn't particularly mind it. There was a small lull of silence after his response, and it gave him another opportunity to mess with his hands again. He noticed a distinct lack of flexibility, and pain rose when he tried to force specific movements.

Watching the scene in front of him, Kesshō had a hard time keeping his words back anymore. He watched the boy struggle to bring about something that wasn't going to occur time and time again since he awakened, and it was too much. Even if it was information that was meant to be covered by the Mizukage's group, he'd already crossed that line. "According to a woman by the name of Emiko, your body has undergone massive changes due to undetermined phenomena. To us, we didn't detect anything strange because your body appeared completely normal. Judging by what she told us, that's exactly the problem. She told us you were a jiongu, and I had trouble believing it until now."

The curtain of silence draped over the room once more following that reveal, and Takeda kept his head down, continuing to feel along his forearm. Focusing his eyes a bit more, he was able to see his veins for the first time since he was a small child. Squeezing the limb, he felt muscle and bone. The sadness and nostalgia battled it out until there was no clear winner, leaving the former jiongu far from peace. "I see." He responded simply at first, taking his wrist in his hand and feeling for his pulse. Everything felt sensitive and delicate, but there was a soothing feeling to it as well. Ultimately, however, one distinct feature of his new body stood out to him. "It feels like I've lost an old friend. Or a part of myself. It's strange. I hated it ever since it started when I was a child, but now I feel like I've failed someone or something...I don't know." His voice was quiet, hardly above a whisper, and came out with a bittersweet tone. Finally looking back up at the ANBU in the room with him, Takeda slowly nodded his head. "If I've cleared your questions, can you bring in the others? I'm ready to talk to them."

Released her grip on the branch, she seemed rather frustrated as she tries to figure out how to get Botamochi up there. Minowa got down too as she tilted her head, wondering what he could do. Botamochi too tilted his head towards Minowa in slight confusion. Saw the head hovering, Botamochi instinctively crouched down to the ground and braced himself as he was being carried by Minowa's teeth as a mother would do to her puppy. Chihiro's jaw drop. How did she not see that?! Soy and her mom's dog, Rice, sometimes do that to Botamochi when he got rowdy. Saw Minowa motion, she gave him a toothy smile as she hopped up once again and grabbed at the branch, pulled herself up, and let out a huff and puff. Whew. This was hard work. Her bright greens glanced over at her new friends and frowned at their reaction. Her head shot towards the window as she gasped softly. What a beautiful dog! With the spark in her eyes, she had to go find this canine! She sat on the branch as she waved at the black void dog in fast motion that her tiny hand would look like a blur towards the dog before she heard a loud noise. Startled, she saw what Minowa did. "Oh! That was cool!" Exclaimed Chihiro as she followed the boy and got into the vent. Botamochi, finally free and removed from the teeth, went over to Chihiro and licked her face. With a quiet giggle and a shove, the pair was excited and wanted to meet the big black soot dog! That meant going to a lot of vents! "Let's go," urgently whispered Chihiro.

Aika’s head followed the boy as he and the big fluffy not-river creature brought their friends up to sit with them in the tree, tail wagging in big circles. As the little girl took notice of Aika, she waved vigorously at Aika which caused the big dog to bounce on her back feet in excitement. She made a happy noise in the back of her throat, which sounded like a chuffing noise a bear might make in greeting. Her jaw stretched bigger as the boy took notice of him too, now having one of her fellow canines with him. Her upper lip pulled back in a doggy grin, panting and making that same happy chuffing noise.

Sypher watched Aika bouncing up and down and wondered if maybe she saw something she wanted to chase or Does she need to pee? he scratched at the VI in his left arm absently but the motion caught the attention of a passing nurse “Sandaime Senju, let’s take a look at your levels and see if we can get that out. Hm?” he jumped a bit, still not used to this strange way that Konoha nin had of greeting “Just Syy. And yes, please.” he cautiously corrected her, allowing her to busy herself around him “Your lovely Aika seems to be enjoying the views in the courtyard!” the nurse remarked, making chit chat with Sypher as she ran through the lists of medications, checked his vitals again, and then began removing the IVs “Well, you have definitely made a better recovery in the last day than we expected! You might be able to leave the hospital in a few days.” she pushed the used medical bags into a trash and then motioned to Aika’s bouncing bum “So long as she behaves, you can take her about the hospital if you like. Maybe even to the courtyard. Be good to stretch those long legs of yours too.” Sypher nodded meekly, unsure what to make of the comment about his legs.

In the meantime, a lot had happened for Aika. The boy didn’t seem as pleased to see her as the small girl, crouching in a recognizable defensive posture over Aika’s fellow canine. Whining sadly, she let out a startled yip as the boy, the dog, and the not-river creature suddenly launched themselves at the building. The clang of metal was just enough that Sypher frowned and watched Aika dance in agitation at the disappearance of the trio. She couldn’t get her head to go the right way to look for them! And now the girl was gone too! Pulling her head back in, she whined at Sypher who was flipping his feet out of the bed, earning her a bewildered look from him. At least the disappearance had given Aika something to go on; a smell that came off the not-river creature, kind of salty and creamy smell, not a smell she knew but one she would remember. Nails clicking on the floor, she walked over to Sypher and plopped her head in his lap, whining.

What? And what was that noise? Sypher rubbed Aika’s head and ears before pushing her away to walk, a little unsteadily to the window. He pushed his own head out, the thick silver and lilac braid sliding off his shoulder to hang down the side of the window, looking around to see if there was anything. All he could see was a large tree that had some branches trembling, with leaves falling to the ground in little spirals Did something jump off? Is that what you saw? he thought at Aika who was now in half service dog mode, half excited tracker dog. He sighed and pulled his head back in, braid following, and went to check his bed. Yup, slippers. Every hospital had the same horrible slippers. But it was better than going barefoot where a needle might be. Slipping them on, he pulled a light grey robe on over his pajamas but didn’t tie it “Lead, Aika.” he ordered, letting Aika take command of the situation. Whatever had happened, she was determined to find it, it seemed. With Sypher at her side, the two walked into the hospital hall and startled the jonin “Uhm...walkies.” Sypher explained, unsure if that was really what was happening. The jonin kept a great poker face and simply nodded, indicating he would follow at a respectful distance Okay, Aika. Where now?

Minowa's guardian is freaking out. The sight of the Mizukage Godaime's son Whirlwind kick-in an industrial vent was so unexpected and horrifying that they even let out a noise from behind their porcelain mask. He was in so much trouble, was the overwhelming dread that had just encased their very being. Minowa, with a dog in his mouth, had absconded with a child by destroying vital equipment for a very vital building and were now scurrying like metaphorical rats in a very literal maze of venting. It won't be Inka that would be angry with him, either, the young Kage very much preferring a more hands-off approach to watching the young Tamer but the Anbu's superior was another matter. Oh the report he's gonna have to write... As soon as Minowa had disappeared into the gaping maw of sparking wires and busted-in metal, the Anbu was racing to the opening, the kanji for the cardinal direction of "South" painted on his mask appearing in the small opening. Too small even for their lanky frame.

"Minowa-san!" He called into the vent, but it was empty. Claw-tipped gauntlets gripping the edge of the vent let out a small squeak as the grip suddenly tightened. So much ******** trouble.

As soon as the pup had left Minowa's maw it had gone running back towards the entrance, passing by Itoko with speed that sent the Binturong's ears flat to its skull but both the arboreal mammal and the Mist nin were feeling and feeding each other's emotion of unease - and they were both already crawling on ahead, Itoko taking the lead, nose twitching and tail swishing. Not being able to retract his claws, the Binturong's movements were accompanied by the constant clicking upon the metal cavern it was traversing. Even if it could move silently, the vents weren't made for holding weight so they bent and bellowed under everyone's movements anyway, eliciting a distressed growl from the blonde boy.

"Mhm." He hummed and Itoko halted, crawled back to Minowa, and crawled onto the young boy's back. Carrying the mammal's weight, Minowa pressed his hands and feet against the walls of the vent, feeling out and only touching the seams of each segment, lessening the chance of the flimsy material from bowing and bellowing out a noise - and thus announcing their position. He knew he wouldn't be able to do this for long, but long enough to get an exit, and finding a more concealed mode of movement...

Chihiro and Botamochi both froze when the vent was bending underneath her hands, his paws and the noise it made, had actually made Chihiro nervous. She didn't understand why, all she knew was this bad feeling inside of her had gotten strong. Kids are usually known for their instincts. The growl from the boy did not help aid in their nervousness. Botamochi and Chihiro's eyes met as she frowned, knowing that she needed to do something. The girl was a measly 36 pounds and her friend was only 8lbs but they were frozen. Too scared to continue to move. Chihiro let out a shaky whimper but she saw the brave boy before her. Just like that, it was as if he, was reminding her who she was. She was Chihiro Inuzuka. Her friend was Botamochi. The bestest dessert in the world. If it doesn't give out under the boy that was bigger than her, it's not gonna give out under her! With the courage she had found, she followed Minowa and they had reached to a long journey with many left openings. Perhaps rooms? Chihiro and Botamochi sniffed, they were looking for some kind of canine smell but all she could smell was dust in the vent and sterilization chemicals outside of the vent. Then there was this one that really smelt of dust so Chihiro gently placed her hand on Minowa's leg. When she got her attention, she smiled at him, that toothy one canine smile, and tilted her head towards the left and took the lead. Sure enough, it hit a dead end but if you peer through, the room looked like it was used for storage. To store extra stuff in case the hospital needed something. Chihiro remembered how much Itoko lowered his ears and the cringing of Minowa whenever they hear something so she gestured for him to cover his ears as she kicked open the vent. With a smile, Chihiro and Botamochi hopped out first, landing on a file cabinet before landing on the floor. Man, this place was massive and full of many different things. Machines. File cabinets. Set up for beds. Cots. Even boxes. "Wow," Chihiro whispered, the possibilities of being able to hide in here! But she wanted to go find that dog. "Let's go out, see how many we can hide while we move around until we get caught!" It would be a fun game!
